The Rising Sun in Dover

Approaching to the venue looks very ordinary, nothing WOW there is two available parking one on the front and one on the back, however entering this lovely amazing and cozy place it's totally different story especially recently they become dog 🐕 friendly that's where started WoW effects, few rooms having fire place and nice comfy sofas let me say looks like proper lounge , reasonable prices, knowing that Kirk running a kitchen this was highlight of the day, lady who was serving us, was so professional attention to the details, checking of everyone drinks, food, kids comfort, dog's water OMG what a star of the venue. Keep it good work.

Didn't stay in the rooms but food was excellent will go back to eat there again

Booked in for a meal on Friday night. Landlord and Landlady on duty and they were the perfect hosts. Took the drinks order, escorted us to the sofas and brought the menus over, where we sat in front of the roaring fire whilst making our choices. Food was excellent, specifically the Liver & Bacon. My family recently celebrated my mother's 80th birthday at this restaurant and the service was excellent on that occasion. Will certainly head back again soon. Thank you.

I had my wedding reception here in October 2023 from the moment myself and my husband walked in we knew it was the place for us. all the staff are AMAZING and the venue gives a real cosy, homely and welcoming vibe. if I ever had a question I knew I could call and get an answer. this place is a hidden gem and I feel so lucky to have found it for our day. I am so thankful to everyone at the rising sun helping my wedding dreams come true! ❤️

Popped in for lunch yesterday, thought I’d treat my dad. Advised we had a dog said they would put us in the pool room, apparently someone had arrived previously and took our table (bit odd for a booking?). No matter the discreetly put us in the main restaurant. The pub/ restaurant is well decorated and maintained and what you’d expect of a country pub a nice environment to sit in.The starters took a while to come out but the mains followed quickly afterwards. I have to say the food was exceptional and the chef here is really top draw (I’m a bit of a foodie so I do get around a bit) I have the mussels and the duck breast the latter was cooked to perfection. The thing for me and the reason for dropping a star was I felt the front of house was lacking. There were only three tables in the main restaurant so not busy. My son wasn’t provided with a steak knife I waited a minute couldn’t see anyone so had to go to the bar, when the bill came I put my hand out to take it off of the waitress she ignored me and put it on the table (again odd) then lastly no one literally no one came to take payment….. waited ten mins and then paid at the bar on the way out.

Always enjoy the lovely food here. So cosy we all sat by the fire after lunch. Sunday roast was so good 😋😋

Fantastic food & the loveliest staff. Probably one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had . There was 4 of us and we all agreed it was such a great standard of service …we will be back !!!

Quiet country pub that's near to some lovely towns. Reasonably priced and staff very helpful. Nice river nearby

To add onto this review. We had my sister's wedding here on the 27th July and the staff went above and beyond. Emma was amazing, so attentive always smiling, nothing was to much trouble. The food was beautiful, cannot fault anything at all. The room was clean, spacious and just what we needed. Beautiful place, lovely atmosphere, kind and friendly staff nothing is to much trouble. Also fantastic venue for weddings.

Had not visited in several years but it is the Rising Sun continues to be a welcoming village pub. Loads of parking, lovely gardens and homely interior. Won't leave it so long for another visit.

I stopped in for some dinner and was made to feel so welcome. The staff were warm and friendly, I was immediately made feel at home. The food was great and very reasonable price. Thank you.

Walked in for a Sunday roast on the off chance, was met with a lovely warm welcome. Food arrived quickly and the roast beef was lovely and very generous ammonts. We really enjoyed our meal and would highly recommend. Thank you all

The burger was very tasty but unfortunately the desserts left a lot to be desired. We did mention this to the staff when we paid.

My step son had his wedding there. We had a wonderful day. They chose to have a BBQ instead of a sit down meal and it was fantastic. We had burger's, steak, chicken and sausages plus various salads etc. For pudding there was fresh fruit, cheesecakes, chocolate cake, strawberries, lemon meringue and lemon drizzle cake. Plus cream if you wanted it. The staff were very very helpful and friendly. Couldn't fault the venue at all, but if I had to find fault with something it would be the parking. The car park is very small. Apart from that a smashing place.

Lovely meal. Good vegetarian menu. Great service and reasonable price 👏 We eat in the pub. I've no idea what it's like as a hotel

Friendly pub however food not good. Restaurant was almost empty. My scampie was so dry, the chips overcooked and tiny. Tartar sauce in a sachet, no offer of peas. My husband had a meat pie, crust was really thick and not cooked and meat really gristly. Shame as a nice pub and staff but for money not good.

Haven’t visited in a while. Everything as expected. Warm welcome great food, staff attentive but not intrusive. Food delicious, nothing too much trouble - thank you we will be back very soon
