The Royal Oak in Weymouth and Portland

I visited Weymouth for a long weekend, and had such an amazing experience, the young lad Owen was so polite and friendly, really enjoyed coming here, will definitely be back x

Came here on Saturday with family. The food served came with no cutlery so had to ask. The waitress them slammed our cutlery down on table not even wrapped in napkins, so we had to go back to bar to ask for napkins which were black and so tiny were not worth using. My glass was dirty with traces of what looked like lipstick all round top of glass which put me off completely. No condiments on table. Food was below par, I ordered avocado and pesto salad with chicken. The chicken was what I would imagine chewing on cardboard would be like...and hey where was the pesto..completely tasteless and avocado was brown. Come on guys it cant be that hard to ensure that cutlery is wrapped in napkins, condiments are on tables and get your dishwasher looked at coz obviously with lipstick on glass its either not working or its been overloaded. Customers expect a half decent service at least. I think you all need some serious training and possibly a new manager. Will not be recommending to friends or family and will not be returning.

Bottomless brunch is a bit slow and seemed to be an issue across the bar but our server Owen was honest and apologetic, doesn’t seem an easy task to manage several tables when everyone has an expectation to be drinking a lot. Owen looked after us throughout, doing his best and chasing when drinks orders were taking close to half an hour. Can’t fault the staff, including the bar team who likely are working relentlessly. Perhaps just needs more staff ultimately, especially for a Saturday late afternoon, in reality they are letting their own staff down, nobody appeared to be slacking or not care…!

Good service at the time we visited, early evening and excellent Brain's Bitter. Amelia, behind the bar, was very friendly and chatty.

Nice pub, staff friendly, young lady managing the bar on her own, she done a fantastic job, service was brilliant. Nice to sit out side and watch the world go by on a warm sunny day..

4 tables in dining area, waited 45 minutes and still no sign of our food. All our friends were either finished eating or more than half way through their meal and we had to ask someone to check on our order.

I had a great experience at Rendezvous Weymouth thanks to Owen. He was super friendly and really knew his stuff about the menu. He took care of everything we needed and made sure we had a fantastic time. If you’re dining there, Owen’s the guy to look for—he really made our visit special!

The food was nice and the atmosphere was good but the waiter who served us for our bottomless brunch was awesome!!! Owen was helpful, efficient, friendly and attentive. He dealt beautifully with the demands of a party of seven women in need of serious alcohol. The lady who delivered our food and collected our plates was also lovely.

Popped in today for a bite to eat and a cocktail. Wasn’t sure what to have as it all looked good, Owen stepped in and recommended us food and drinks and they were delicious. He was so knowledgeable and so helpful I’m so glad he was working, he’s such an asset to the team X

Unfortunately we were unable to get the best of our bottomless brunch due to shortness of staff we had only had 5 drinks in 2 hours but we have to thank Owen for making our time bloody amazing.! He was friendly, understanding and did his best to resolve any issues we had. He constantly had a smile and nothing was too much trouble, the manager refused to extend our brunch until We requested to speak to the manager face to face to which she then did extend and we had additional drinks which made it value for money. Shame the same couldn’t be said for the other serving staff who could barely share a smile and it was more of a chore. This business has a lot to thank Owen for and other tables. Felt the same and showed their appreciation to him! I hope he’s appreciated and valued

What a hidden gem! I was served by Owen during my evening. He had extensive knowledge of cocktails and managed to make me the freshest and thirst quenching drink I have ever sipped. Just been for a bottomless brunch 9 of us in total. Kyle S was our waiter he was fab so friendly and very attentive and kept the drinks flowing! We had a great time only thing that was a little disappointing was there was no theme or music to dance to it was supposed to be an end of summer vibe🤔but we still had fun!

Some nice vegan options. The mushroom tacos and cauliflower wings were the best (both very tasty and filling). Tuesday's they have a cheap wings deal so you can get quite a lot. It was very quite on a Tuesday night, so no issues getting a table or being served.

Today me and my friend did a bottomless brunch to celebrate getting our results!! Amelia was our serving and she brilliant, really great service, drink were really nice and were made very quickly. Definitely recommend going for a bottomless brunch!

Awful service at lunch time on 14.08.24. Multiple issues with order and long wait time and made to feel it was our fault despite checking menus and receipts and order details confirming the customer was indeed right on this occasion. Shame holiday in Weymouth ends on a sour note

Absolutely disgusted myself and my family went in for a meal,we were shown to our table given menus to view after 30 minutes of waiting we went to order our food only to be told that they had no food to offer when we approached the manager he wasn't interested in anything we had to say just kept his head in a newspaper so if your looking for a place to eat and great customer service then don't bother with this place

Staff were amazing above and beyond.

We visited in a quiet Monday afternoon for a soft drink. Staff pleasent and efficient. Plenty of seating inside and out with views over harbour. Saw others ordering food which looked good. We had large lemonade and blackcurrant drinks for only £2 each. Looks like it's a popular night spot. Toilets up loads of stairs and small with broken locks no good if you have mobility issues.

Great place to eat and drink with scenic views over the Quay. We ordered via the app in the day time and service was quick! Food was lovely and hot.

A Gorgeous little pub located in a lovely little corner down by the bridge on the Quayside. Amazing staff and amazing locals. It gets busy when the sunshines and the area can getting really busy. Only downside the place has is being close to a main traffic through route that can get busy busy on warm days. Still a nice stop off point for a refreshing drink.

Great little pub next the harbour and with lots of outside seating. Always good for real ales, and they vary them routinely, which is nice.

We sat outside in the sunshine 🌞 staff friendly, and the situation right by the water is wonderful. We had a drink then walked a bit further.

This is the 1st time i have popped in here. I usually go in the anchor next door but they were'nt open at the time (11.30am). Its a very small & cosy pub with a sml selection on tap as well as the usual top shelf choices. Decor is focused on the nautical theme which fits in well with its position on the quay. Can't comment on the food as never had anything but they do have a menu. Staff are very polite & welcoming. Worth a visit.

Good location overlooking the harbour. Good range of real ales. Reasonable prices and good friendly service. I haven't tried the food...yet! Maybe 5 stars next time if I like the food.

Charging £22 + for a bottle of wine that is £8 in the supermarket is unacceptable Your pub is not filled with comfy furnishing it is very basic and run by youngsters! I’ve been a customer for several years but won’t be back in a hurry! If the Old Rooms can sell decent wine at £16 then it shows your greed!

Came here on Saturday night whilst on holiday. Nice wine and beer, great duo. They could play anything you requested. Great atmosphere, enjoyed a dance. Friendly staff. Would definitely return.

In October 2023 on the last night of our 2 week holiday, me my wife and son with autism decided to go round a couple of pubs near the harbour. We entered the Royal Oak and I noticed they had real ale ciders on, id never heard of pineapple cider before and my favourite fruit is pineapple that appealed to me, the young friendly barmaid them asked if id like to sample it first and it was lovely. My son enjoys singing and the lady had some music on to which my son knew so a duet was formed to which the regulars gave a round of aplause to at the end. A really down to earth no hairs or graces but welcoming pub

Great afternoon lovely people great service going back very soon.

We ordered 2 burgers, 1 chicken and 1 beef burger the Melt with 2 burgers but no bbq sauce and both burger buns were dry and very hard, no table check, we also ordered 2 for 1 cocktails and then asked for straws, the staff bought them over in his hands 😪. Overall a not so enjoyable experience for what we paid. 😭 And we paid for it before we got it.

The most "proper pub" along the keyside, which also means that it is more favoured by locals. That said, they're great and mix well with the tourists. Though one has a very cute but rather smelly little dog. The pub is Camra registered, (or was as I did not see any signs this time) and serves the best range of ales along the quayside. Plenty of seats outside, weather permitting.

Descent establishment, seating outside over looking the harbour. Staff were friendly, beer was good. Nice and peaceful watching the world go by. Dog friendly place. Had a nice quiet pint. Enjoyed.

Nice little pub at the side of a very large one with views over marina. Can be difficult to park but there us a multi storey 2 mins walk away. Also dog friendly.

Had drinks here. OK pub but nothing special. Usual Cornish beers on draught. Card payments accepted.

1 star for location only. Went here spilt accidentally drink on the hole ridden tables and asked for a replacement, was bluntly refused...watch your glasses on the outside tables it could be a pricey visit.

We come to Weymouth for a weekend break at least once a year. This pub was always one we used regularly but sadly we won’t be anymore. We appreciate that prices have to increase in the current economic climate but this is ridiculous. Way more expensive than other pubs in the area. We could have tolerated it being tourists for the weekend but the barman doesn’t exactly make you feel welcome. He would have looked happier if he was on death row!! Such a shame but plenty of other options nearby.

Wasn't really impressed with this place and now I know why! It's owned by the Anchor next door! The manageress said she's not allowed to do tasters!! Well at circa £5 pint, go somewhere else!! I've never known a place to never give tasters!! 🤔 It's a shame but we won't go there again! They do give CAMRA discount which is very good and it's in a cracking little spot, but if management are going to be that tight then get your custom from someone else! I want to spend my money somewhere that appreciates the customer!! I hasten to add, I rarely give negative reviews and I've only just realised about The Anchor being part of this business! I gave a poor review last year about The Anchor! This is probably why I've got issues with The Royal Oak! 🤪
