My family and I had a lunch here. Nice building, but rubbish food! Pizza was like cardboard and burgers were tasteless. My mums fish and chips were ok. The best thing on my plate was the onion rings, and you can’t really get those wrong! It’s ok for a drink but I won’t be eating here again.

I can’t speak to the lodging, as I didn’t see a room but visited the pub, had two meals and multiple pints over several days during an early summer visit to Tewkesbury. The service was good and attentive, the beer and ale perhaps too good - as on my second visit I left behind a small backpack. In the morning, the reception staff had located the lost item and graciously returned it with a smile. The garden out back is an absolute delight - with multiple spaces and table configurations as it slopes down across brick patio to grass field closest to the Mill Arm of the Avon. Access from the front, or from the foot path that runs along the Mill arm and which provides easy access to the car park. Dogs welcome, centrally located to the Cathedral and High street.

Visited this Wetherspoons whilst on a weekend away trip we were unsatisfied with the food we had ordered on thursday evening during curry club , we had ordered two curries with the extras that came with the curry, the curries were rather watery and runny more like soup and tasted bland with no flavour , the chips that also came with the fish and chips we had also ordered were overcooked , other customers were also complaining about their food on that particular night , food taken back and food left on tables as people left.

Stopped here for food on our journey home. I received a parking fine for using the car park. I purchased a ticket from the machine, but it turns out the car park is divided in two. Half is the pub's and the other half the Council's. I didn't realise this and purchased a ticket for the council side, but parked in the pub side. We aren't local so won't be back. The food was average, but the service was good.

This place is heaven on earth! An old coaching inn, beautifully kept in keeping with its origins and beautifully maintained beer gardens on the banks of the river Avon . It is at the heart of a small town with the most beautiful minster, which is worth a visit. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is good and hot, and the beer is reasonably priced. The staff are lovely and accommodating, and I couldn't praise the place highly enough. The picture is sunset from the beer garden!!

I ordered the bacon butty and asked for it to be well cooked. It was the worst bacon I have ever had at any Wetherspoons. All the sides had a lot of almost raw fat which I had to cut off. The bacon was tasteless too. I did not complain, but won't be returning again for breakfast. It beggars belief how any decent kitchen staff can allow that to go out of the kitchen. My husband, however, was happy with his sausage butty.

I ordered a panini which was described as barbecue chicken, bacon and cheese. When it arrived there was no cheese at all, the bacon was hardly cooked and as for the barbecue chicken it was just ordinary pieces of chicken but the panini had a very sparsely spread layer of barbecue sauce. When I called the waitress over to tell her there was no cheese on my panini, she said oh, well I could take it back and get some put on it if you want. Strangely enough, yes, I'd actually prefer to have what I've paid for. I told her to leave the bacon out and when it came back it was edible but not a great experience. I'm a big fan of Wetherspoons but I'm finding lately their prices are rising but their standards are dropping. The garden is a nice location by the river and the staff seem friendly enough but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. I wasn't staying in the hotel, just passing through.

Good check in from very busy receptionist handling a huge booking over the phone. No lifts in the building, probably not allowed because of its age. Be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs to either the first or second floor. Parts of the old building upstairs is stunning. My single room, 110, was not! Absolutely tiny but was en-suite and a reasonable price without breakfast. Appreciated good supply of tea bags and milk, Also biscuits and bottle of water. I had requested a quiet room and it was quiet once the bar bottles had been emptied in the bins for the night. Good reading light in the room/hairdryer/iron and ironing board. Just a very oppressive, dark, and cramped room that could be massively improved with light coloured furniture and blinds. Didn't have dinner there as couldn't find a table at all and no one to help. Found a lovely Italian restaurant a few doors down the street towards the Abbey, called Cafe'e Vino and Garden. Check out was quick with very friendly receptionist.

A good night out although disappointing that neither the Katsu curry nor fish and chips available. Service was good. Quite concerned though towards the end of the evening when bag upon bag of dirty laundry was brought into the room and piled up in the corner. It was disruptive and quite frankly somewhat smelly. Some unbagged laundry was put on an empty table and bagged up when the rest had been stacked up. We weren't the only guests in the room and it showed a lack of consideration, and questionable hygiene.

Visit here all the time when we are in Tewkesbury as its really convenient for where we stay. Gets really busy early evening with couples and families having meals and also some lunchtimes when coach parties of pensioners visit the Abbey. Usually lots of seating as there are several seating areas but I have known it be rammed but thankfully the staff do keep out the feral gangs of 17 year old 'near-adults' who sometimes try to clog up the venue and don't buy anything. Lovely seating area by the river when the weather is nice if you don't mind the wasps which seem to frequent every British pub on the few good days weather we have each year. Hopefully Global warming might give us a few more warm days when we can enjoy the river?

Quick lunch here to escape the sun during the last heatwave. Agree with the review below which says it has a "better Spoons" feel than some. Building is nice. Outdoors is lovely down the bottom by the river. Food is the same as any other branch but at least you know what you're getting. 1 point knocked off because some staff were lovely whilst others were a bit curt, and the online ordering didn't work so I had to go to the bar and try to remember what everyone wanted. The conflicting reviews regarding staff, I think, come down to one particular female who checked us in. She was rude and arrogant. Everyone else was polite and friendly. We were in a top room, lovely view, very comfortable beds and warm. Unfortunately, the shower in the shared bathroom didn’t work properly for me. The water stopped and started and I stood there for a couple of minutes getting cold praying I could wash off the conditioner! We had dinner there in the evening that was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent.

We visited the Queens Head Pub in Gloucester this evening for what was supposed to be a warm and memorable farewell party, but sadly, the experience left much to be desired. We had booked a table for 8 well in advance, but two additional people joined us last minute, something that’s not uncommon at gatherings. Instead of accommodating this small change with a bit of flexibility, the lady serving us acted more like a strict hostel warden than a friendly host. The attitude was brusque, unwelcoming and lacked hospitality completely. Rather than taking care of us with a smile, we were met with a sour expression and curt comments about our party size. While they arranged for a table for 10 after some discussion, soon it was announced that food choices were limited to mains only ( at 8 pm). No sides or starters were available, very strange and unlike other pubs in and around. Adding to this, when one of the friends picked a chips from another’s plate we were immediately told off saying food cannot be shared and an extra service charge will be added. Instead of helping us find a solution, made us feel like we were an inconvenience. The rudeness didn't stop there; throughout the evening, this person seemed impatient. It genuinely felt like we were being chastised for daring to enjoy ourselves. The food itself was average at best, but any enjoyment we might have had was completely overshadowed by the poor service. At a time when we wanted to celebrate and relax, we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. A little courtesy and flexibility go a long way in hospitality, and unfortunately, Queens Head seemed to lack both. If you're looking for a pub with a friendly atmosphere and accommodating staff, I’d recommend steering clear of this one. We left disappointed and regretting choosing this venue for such an important occasion.
