Nice wetherspooons. Would say overall it’s a long thin spoons. Too many high tables rather than normal tables. We sat near the back near the toilets. Which are all on ground level. So that’s good. Drinks very quick to arrive. Food was slower, although it was mid afternoon (2pm) on a Saturday. Overall an OK spoons.

Called on our way home, (we diverted off M5). Horrible rainy night but we were able to park outside pub. Staff were helpful and friendly. The meal was decent - reasonable portions and well cooked. Always a bit wary when visiting Wetherspoons as standards can be variable with quality and quantity. Value is usually reasonable and this was good, beer is much better value than so many other pubs. Meal and drink package is good (we had guinesses and orange juice with the meal. With Doombar at less than £2 a pint we would have had more if we were not driving. Budget eating and drinking (not fancy) but overall good value clean and good friendly service.

Room (208 I think) was lovely, comfortable and clean. Though I think it was near the kitchen outlets as it was rather noisy when I opened the window. The stairs were a bit tight to navigate, but this is impossible to avoid with properties like this, just worth noting for those with mobility issues.

Stayed for two nights with two other couples and we all thought it was a good choice. Really old hotel with many original features but modern room furnishings and bathroom. We were in 104 which faced towards the river and was quiet and warm although very cold outside. The staff were all very friendly and one of the check in ladies told us a lot about the history of the hotel. Car parking is free for residents, just give them your car reg when checking in and also free coffee in the bar just show them your room card. The rooms have good showers and a hairdryer for the wife, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits. The pub is quite large with several different rooms and a real log fire in one. The breakfast is the usual Spoons menu so cheap and a lot of choice and was served quickly and hot Would definitely stay there again if going to Tewkesbury

I can’t speak to the lodging, as I didn’t see a room but visited the pub, had two meals and multiple pints over several days during an early summer visit to Tewkesbury. The service was good and attentive, the beer and ale perhaps too good - as on my second visit I left behind a small backpack. In the morning, the reception staff had located the lost item and graciously returned it with a smile. The garden out back is an absolute delight - with multiple spaces and table configurations as it slopes down across brick patio to grass field closest to the Mill Arm of the Avon. Access from the front, or from the foot path that runs along the Mill arm and which provides easy access to the car park. Dogs welcome, centrally located to the Cathedral and High street.

I ordered the bacon butty and asked for it to be well cooked. It was the worst bacon I have ever had at any Wetherspoons. All the sides had a lot of almost raw fat which I had to cut off. The bacon was tasteless too. I did not complain, but won't be returning again for breakfast. It beggars belief how any decent kitchen staff can allow that to go out of the kitchen. My husband, however, was happy with his sausage butty.

I ordered a panini which was described as barbecue chicken, bacon and cheese. When it arrived there was no cheese at all, the bacon was hardly cooked and as for the barbecue chicken it was just ordinary pieces of chicken but the panini had a very sparsely spread layer of barbecue sauce. When I called the waitress over to tell her there was no cheese on my panini, she said oh, well I could take it back and get some put on it if you want. Strangely enough, yes, I'd actually prefer to have what I've paid for. I told her to leave the bacon out and when it came back it was edible but not a great experience. I'm a big fan of Wetherspoons but I'm finding lately their prices are rising but their standards are dropping. The garden is a nice location by the river and the staff seem friendly enough but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. I wasn't staying in the hotel, just passing through.

If you’re looking for a Sunday roast that will make you reconsider ever eating one again, The Queen’s Head is the place to be. What should have been a comforting meal turned into an exercise in endurance—of patience, poor service, and culinary mediocrity. Service: The owner, who carried herself with the frazzled intensity of someone managing a particularly unruly flock of angry birds, seemed determined to ensure no one, including her staff, had a pleasant time. We were reminded no fewer than eight times how much time we had left at our table—never mind the 45-minute wait for our food. Her grip on control extended beyond just rushing customers; she hovered over the card reader like it contained state secrets, seemingly unable to trust her teenage staff with something as complex as processing a bill. The whole place had the air of a business that cycles through undertrained young employees rather than investing in a competent team—not that I blame anyone for leaving. Food: The roast potatoes were so rock-hard they could have been repurposed for medieval warfare. Cutting into them was not so much an act of dining as it was a battle of wills. The meat, meanwhile, was a monument to dryness, so overcooked that I suspect even a pint of gravy wouldn’t have saved it. Not that I’d know—I ordered mine without gravy, and after sending it back when it came out with, they took it away, clearly scraped it off and re-plated it…as if I wouldn’t notice the streaks of congealed deception left behind. As for seasoning, I can only assume the kitchen is operating under strict rationing orders because salt and flavor were nowhere to be found. Atmosphere: Between the rushed service, lack of warmth, and the overwhelming sense that no one—staff or customer—wanted to be there, the ambiance was about as inviting as the food. A Sunday roast should feel indulgent and comforting. Here, it felt like a begrudging obligation. Would I return? Only if I had a personal vendetta against my own taste buds. Otherwise, I’d sooner eat a frozen meal at home—at least that would come with a guarantee of salt.

Popped to try the Swan for a quick meal. Starter .. garlic bread was served with the main meal which was really odd. It was very over done and not very garlicky. Fish + chips was also over done. V good chips though. Eton mess .. very good on fruit but meringue seriously lacking. All in all a very disappointing meal. As we were nearly the only ones in there on a Fri night had expected much better food. Soooo disappointing. Won't be returning.
