You check in at the bar, which is a little awkward. The staff try their best but to be honest it's a bit provincial. Don't ask for a vodka lime and soda, they haven't heard of cordial "around here"

Ideally situated in the village of Winchcombe. Staff all lovely. And food was beautiful but a special mention for the pie. My friend had the lamb sheperds pie and said it was honestly the best she'd ever eaten! Delicious puddings too! And our dog was made very welcome!

We were given an afternoon tea here as a gift, so we were very much looking forward to our visit, sadly we were very disappointed, service wasn’t great , we were served our after noon tea and had to ask for plates, the Selection of cakes and sandwiches was very mediocre to say the least, so wasn’t fitting with the surroundings of a lovely looking pub. Wouldn’t recommend or return.

A New Definition of ‘Superior’ We booked a stay at The White Hart Inn for our stay in The Cotswold’s village of Winchcombe. On arrival, we were informed that the accommodation would be in the building two doors away. Upon entering, it was not exactly inviting – it is a very tired building with stained carpets and decoratively, needing substantial work. However, we were confident that as we went for the ‘Superior Double’, that it would be very nice in the room itself. The tiny room we were given housed a 137cm ‘double’ which is insufficiently wide for two adults unless one sleeps on one’s back with arms by one’s side! I would have taken pictures on the second day had the room been serviced, but it was not – on returning from our day out, the room was exactly as we had left it. French doors open on to a very tired balcony which we did not use other than to store some milk we purchased from a store down the road as our room supply was only enough for a single coffee and not replenished. The balcony seemed in a poor state of (decorative) repair although it seemed safe enough (picture attached). The tiny bathroom had a very small sink, about which was a protruding mirror with a bizarre light fitting which made leaning over the sink quite difficult unless standing to the side. The shower was uninviting – again, decoratively very poor (pictures below). A tiny (sloping!) shelf directly above the toilet was the only space for toothbrushes/bathroom amenities as using the sink was not possible to place anything – do not forget to close the toilet lid or you may lose items from the shelf above if not careful! The linen was very nice however and the pillows comfortable. If only the management had removed the large beside tables and provide a king-size bed, it would have been ‘OK’, but it was a less than comfortable two nights stay. Checking online, we knew the inn was full, so another room was not possible. For over £300 for two nights, we really felt this was just not good enough – not even the WiFi worked properly – it dropped out constantly as the signal was too weak to reach our ‘Superior Room’. Positive Notes The limited contact we had with the staff was extremely friendly. They are all doing their best. Furthermore, the included breakfast served in the main building had an extensive choice and was wonderfully prepared (and very tasty). The ambience in the main building all felt very warm and inviting. Again, the staff were very accommodating when my wife asked for an item not on the buffet or the menu. Summary The ‘Superior Double Room’ is a complete misnomer. Our room was very poor and with some attention to the decorative state and a ‘proper’ bed, it would at least have made a positive difference. We would not choose to stay here unless a substantial renovation program was effected in the bedrooms and a more usable bed provided but we would possibly choose to eat at The White Hart if we elected to stay in Winchcombe again.

We also asked for horseradish and mint sauce, she looked at us strange and wrote it on her pad !yet we never received these ! They never came back to check if everything was OK! We had lunch here today the staff were all quite rude, didn’t give us a drinks menu and expected us to know what we wanted to drink, asked to order lunch and were told to wait until midday, then when midday came they never took our order so we had to go to the bar. When we ordered they have about 4 different types of cheese on the menu and asked to add some in one of the sandwiches, apparently they had a “cheese shortage” at 12 noon… when it came the contents were thrown in the sandwich, half falling out and they didn’t even bother buttering it I had to do that myself when I asked them to bring butter out for my dry sandwich. Lastly we had our dogs with us and they sat silently in the restaurant yet throughout the whole lunch we had an old couple opposite with a small dog who yapped every 5 seconds making no attempt to keep it quiet. Don’t waste your time coming here, it’s bang average and a million better pubs/cafes to go to in the area with POLITE staff!!

The staff were attentive and the service quick, but the quality of the sandwiches was poor. The Reuben Sandwich, pictured, costs over £11 and could have been slipped under a door. We often come here for lunch, and it's usually great. One should avoid the treacle tart @ £8 it is an insulting portion size, but you may not wish to eat this shop-bought, soggy white tasteless pastry clearly heated up in the microwave, though I am sure the filling is homemade. Do they think they can fool us?! If you choose to eat it, you'll need a knife and fork! We chose not to.

Just been for a pre-Christmas walk and meal and had booked a table here. The service was impeccable from the moment we arrived - a lovely greeting and a perfect spot for the three of us and the dog next to a warming log fire. They kept us topped up with drinks throughout the meal which was delicious. We had venison x2 and a turkey roulade which were perfect - then finished off with 3 lovely trifles. Everything absolutely on point - could not be critical of anything. Coming back.

Just returned from 2 fantastic days/nights in this beautiful old coaching Inn we were greeted by a gentleman called Garth we were very early to arrive but this was not an issue to him, we had our cream tea that was included in the 2 day stay offer the scones were warm and freshly baked served with delicious clotted cream and jam,we were shown to our room it was very spacious and lovely and warm (room1)the room could do with a little bit of maintenance but the comfortable bed more than made up for it .We dined in the pub that evening all 4 starter and mains were excellent the staff were very attentive and even told us to put as much wood on the fire as we liked, the choice of beers in the bar were good also . The following morning we were given a table in the dining room and they took our order for tea and coffee and we told to help ourselves to cereals and fruit they then took the orders for breakfast it came after about 5 minutes the bacon and sausage are supplied by the local butchers across the road it was absolutely delicious my only grip would be it could the been a little warmer to be fair and the toaster is the worst toaster I've ever used🤣 .After our day walking we returned to a lovely warm pub and another fantastic meal for all 4 of us great service once again, lovely nights sleep and yet another cracking breakfast , thanks Everyone for making us so welcome, FANTASTIC 2 DAY OFFER

The conflicting reviews regarding staff, I think, come down to one particular female who checked us in. She was rude and arrogant. Everyone else was polite and friendly. We were in a top room, lovely view, very comfortable beds and warm. Unfortunately, the shower in the shared bathroom didn’t work properly for me. The water stopped and started and I stood there for a couple of minutes getting cold praying I could wash off the conditioner! We had dinner there in the evening that was absolutely delicious. We decide to visit the museum in Winchcombe and have some lunch. We decide for this "pub" trusting the review online, huge mistake. My partner ordered the roast, nothing special, literally 80g ( 2 slice) of roast drowned in a fake powdery gravy and a Carling served in the wrong glass infact after 1 minute the fizz was gone, but still an average uk pub. Now the fun start, I ordered a Ruben (pastrami sandwich) that was not a Ruben in any way at all and it was quite horrible and a total shame, first of all the bread was a tasteless LIDL bakery ciabatta with a strange unknown orange sauce spreaded in it that only tasted of vinegar, literally 3 shavings of plastuc cheese and a horrible old and mushy pickle, the meat was just a joke literally a paper thin invisible piece of pastrami, obviously the sandwich went untouched for all the meal but not a single person of the staff ask me what was wrong, staff just literally bring the horrible dishes and thats it, costumer service unknown to them, I dont even know how someone can serve something so wrong and minging I was so embarassed for them that I just pay and get out faster as I can, while paying I said that that thing was not a ruben but he just faked to not heard me and let me pay in full... Another 2 things, 1 the dog bowl on top of the table were people eat is just disgusting and 2 the lady spraying disinfectant all over the near table and all over that thing that they served me as "food" Not a sigle time they asked us if everything was ok kr just aknowledge us at all after the order. The food is so embarassing, inexistent client service and final bill 46£ (2 beers, 1 roast, 1 ciabatta with a piece of paper in it and a portion of tasteless chips) EMBARASSING! Places like this literally are a shame and they are the reason why UK cuisine is a joke for the rest of the world... Change job...

Then I fell on the gravel in car park banged knee and head the owner and others helped stop bleeding and got me to my feet. They didn't appear to have a dedicated first aider or first aid box. I visited The White Hart Inn in Winchcombe for breakfast this morning and ordered the full English breakfast, anticipating a hearty meal before heading to a festival. However, I was disappointed to find that the breakfast did not include toast, and I had to pay an additional £4 for two slices, which didn't come with butter. When I requested butter from the bar, the waitress seemed annoyed and reluctantly fetched some for me. The "full English breakfast" itself was underwhelming, consisting of one sausage, one rasher of undercooked bacon, one egg, a small portion of beans, half of a small tomato, and one slice of mushroom. For £13, plus the extra £4 for toast, I felt completely ripped off and left the pub still hungry. I strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Unfortunately we weren’t overly happy with our stay here. From the start we were clearly treated and segregated differently from a full paying customers, we used a online voucher offer which the hotel clearly advertise, and perhaps use as a way to entice people to stay there and get more business. We were treated differently and a bit less warm than others whom booked regularly, this should not be the case as we were still paying customers and still paid money to stay at this hotel and have dinner and breakfast there. There was no hot water to run a bath. I left the tap running for well over half an hour in hopes that there would be hot water but nothing, this is really unacceptable. Furthermore, there was no toiletries and not even hand soap for the sink in our room. I had to go downstairs and ask for these, again that’s really not acceptable. They should at least be soap in the bathroom to wash your hands. Our room was clearly overlooked and missed out not even any toiletries in the room is really shocking and unacceptable. I didn’t appreciate the man who helped me saying “I’m clocking off soon, my shift is ending” as he was getting my toiletries. I felt like I was being a burden to him or he didn’t want to help me because he was leaving soon, and wanted to go home. Furthermore, we were greeted by a miserable woman behind the bar for our dinner booking didn’t show us to our table. No polite or warm welcome as I would have Expected since it being in a nice little B&B in the Cotswold. Very disappointing. Furthermore, it was clearly shown that we were segregated from other people dining there when nobody checked back on us when we had our dinner, yet the table next to us, the wait staff were going above and beyond and clearly checked on them multiple times. Rooms are loud, lots of slamming doors. We had a room right in front of the road. Windows are not double glazed quite noisy to stay in to be honest. Furthermore, when going for breakfast in the morning again we saw the difference and how we were treated because we used a voucher for this stay, an American couple at the table opposite us were being fussed over massively a lot of smiles giggles, and going above and beyond for them yet we were served our breakfast with no smile and quite a cold Service again from the staff. Upon checkout, they labeled and called us as the customers “with the voucher” which we didn’t appreciate at all. We still paid money to stay at your establishment. I don’t appreciate being labeled as customers who used a voucher to stay with you. There was no “how was your stay”? “How was everything?” just a cheers and Goodbye. really unacceptable . It’s a letdown because this is a really lovely B&B in a really lovely location. Perhaps don’t advertise voucher deal to entice customers stay with you if you’re not going to treat them customers with a warm welcome.

My review is probably jaded. I had told my husband that I would like a country hotel with lovely sofas and open fires, and what I got was a pub on a high street. On arrival, our greeting was lukewarm to say the least. The chap I spoke to was more interested in his conversation with one of his regulars. Call me old fashioned, but an offer of help upstairs with our suitcases for two people in their late seventies would have been welcome. The room was small, to say the least, albeit with a very nice bathroom. Information re: mealtimes, points of contact, departure times was there none. We were on a Travelzoo deal, but we had to ask about meal allowances for breakfast and dinner, which felt embarrassing. To be fair, anything we requested - a chair in the room, extra milk etc was dealt with promptly. Breakfast was very good, but service ended at 9:00 am, quite early if one was enjoying a relaxing weekend away, and dinner was average, and felt quite overpriced. On departure, we were invited to add their optional gratuities, which my husband declined. They were addd anyway, and when we challenged this, the chap we were dealing with said that he didn’t know how to do a refund. All in all, we felt disappointed and let down, and cheated of a celebration of our 57th wedding anniversary. We won’t be returning.

We had the beef & venison casserole and steak fries, followed by the Eton mess and chocolate brownie with ice cream & chocolate sauce. My casserole, brownie & ale were excellent. My wife said her frites were overdone & had a strange aniseed cough sweet tasting lump in her Eton mess, which was not pleasant. Hence, they dropped a star but otherwise excellent. We will be back in the future as it is a lovely pub. Parking can be a struggle as even on a Wednesday evening, the little car park 100 yards down the road was full. Give it a miss! Went for Sunday roast and it was very disappointing. My partner order pork and I had chicken. The veg was dry and the whole meal wasn't hot enough. The pork was over cooked and tough but even worse my chicken was pink and undercooked. This is not what you want to see after taking a couple of bites! The waitress was clearly shocked when I showed her the chicken and it was removed from the bill but the response was underwhelming. She went to get the manager but they didn't come. On reflection we felt that the full meal should have been offered for free. It's not acceptable that I ate undercooked chicken and we still paid for most of the meal. The place lacked ambience, a couple lamps would do the trick. In addition, you need a sanitary bin within the cubicle of the ladies toilets, ideally you don't want to have to carry your sanity products out of the cubicle to put in a tiny, hand towel bin. This will encourage people to flush products down the toilet which isn't great. In summary, very disappointed.

We booked a stay at the White Hart Inn at Winchcombe through the Virgin Experience days. This included a 2 night stay in a superior double with Dinner for 2 (up to a value of £50). We arrived on the Friday evening and were shown to our room, which was in another building next to the main part. This part of the building had the lights off, seemed cold and obviously wasn't in use. Our room was the Almsbury which when we went in could see this was not a superior double, but more a small double (photos attached). We returned to the main part of the Inn, and spoke to a member of staff to say that the room we were in was not a superior double. Pointing out the size/difference displayed on the White Hart website. 10 minutes later, coincidently there was a late cancellation and we were allocated a superior double room (room 3). However although this room was much bigger, the website states that the superior double rooms are 'More spacious and newly refurbished'. I beg to differ on the newly refurbished part (see photos). The dinner on the Friday night in the White Hart was okay but wouldn't say it was brilliant. We also pre-ordered the afternoon tea for the Saturday afternoon. The afternoon tea arrived, and we noticed it did not contain any pastries. Again the website states 'Afternoon tea at The White Hart typically includes a selection of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam and a variety of pastries and cakes'. We pointed this out to a member of staff who's answer was 'we don't do pastries here' We did say that they need to update their website! Unfortunately the cakes were a sticky toffee sponge cut in half and a chocolate brownie, again cut in half. We know this as we had both of these for our desert the previous evening. We would have expected a better variety of cakes. However the Scones did taste good. On a plus note, the cooked breakfast was hot and tasted good and the staff were friendly. Would I recommend a stay at the White Hart, I'm afraid not. I don't know if the other rooms have been refurbished but room 3 certainly has not and looks tired and in need of a refurbishment. I suggest the White Hart update certain parts/wording on their website to avoid confusion/false advertising.

A disappointment, we had this hotel booked by our walking tour organiser, before we started we checked the hotel’s photos on their website and it didn’t look too bad. We we checked in we were taken to an adjoining building, first impression was old, tired, unloved and dirty, our first room had black mould on the walls, ensuite in a cupboard and doors less than 1.6 high, when we pointed this out we were given another room in this building, this one was slightly better but had mould in the bathroom, stains on the toilet seat, wall paper and ceiling peeling off, the floor and bed shook when anyone walk past the door, room overlooked the service area with smelly rubbish bins. We decided not to stay and relocated to the nearest alternative, which was wonderful.

Arrived as a walk-in, managed to get a table for dinner. Were shown to a table and given menus, after waiting awhile my partner went upto the bar to order drinks. Ended up ordering food at the bar, though the tables next to us had drinks and food orders taken at the table. Food arrived quick, main course was lacking some vegs, portion size was ok. Settled the bill noticing there was an 'opptional service charge' which infact didn't seem to be optional at all ! Having ordered food and drink at the bar, the service charge was alittle cheeky for just bringing food to the table.

Had an overnight stay with evening meal and breakfast. We came with our dog too, his first experience of staying in a pub/hotel, and all the staff were amazing with us and him and spoiled him rotten. Room was lovely, bed really comfortable and all very clean. Food was amazing, really good choice of menu, both evening meal and breakfast. But the biggest plus for the White Hart is the staff, they couldn’t have been more helpful, every person we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. A genuinely lovely weekend, thank you all.

Has a Luxury one night 3 course meal with fizz bed and breakfast deal via RedLetter Days - ALL staff very pleasant and efficient. Food excellent and range of menus, dinner and breakfast , extensive - minor adjustments no trouble at all to staff. Room comfortable, cosy, would call quaint as in period building, ours had a balcony and great views over Malvern Hills - minor point, due to structure of lovely old timbered inn ensuite was a little cramped.

Via "Virgin Experiences", we booked a two night stay, at “The White Hart Inn”, in Winchcombe. The room we booked was quite spacious. However, the paintwork and general decoration in the room was very tired and needed “a serious good lick of paint” The actual duvet, inside the clean duvet cover, was not clean at all. We are not the sort of people to open up the duvet cover to inspect the duvet; it was just that the actual duvet was visible at the open corners of the duvet cover. Due to us having paid £60.00, towards an evening meal, within our "Virgin Experience", we thought it a good idea to contact the hotel and asked to see what the evening menu was like and we received a copy at the time of booking. When we sat down for our meal on our first night in the hotel, the waiter came over to take our meal orders and as there was not any vegetable side orders showing on the menu that he had previously given us, we asked what vegetables were available, to accompany our meals? The waiter said he would go and inquire in the kitchen. A couple of minutes later he returned, explaining the Chef had said they had run out of vegetables “LAST NIGHT”!!! We first thought it was a joke but soon discovered it was not. We first thought, was today a Sunday, but no, it was a Tuesday evening? There are at least two small supermarket shops in the small town of Winchcombe, both of whom sell vegetables, so why could the hotel not purchase them from these local suppliers? We felt it right not accept our meals without any of the options of vegetables to accompany the meals we wanted to order. The meals we wanted to order at the time were Sea Bass and Pork Loin. Both should come with vegetables. Why wouldn’t they be an option on the menu? We complained to the Duty Manager and he was not very empathetic, in fact he was not aware that there were no vegetables available to accompany any food orders made that night. Very poor! We asked the Duty Manager if he would have his meals without vegetable and he said no. So why should we? We later discovered that the Head Chef, a really nice man named Patrick, was off on a week’s holiday, so the night we were trying to get a meal at the hotel; he was not in charge of the kitchen. After this fiasco, it was getting late and we still had not eaten anything, since we left our home, around 12:00 noon. We went outside the hotel and found an Indian Restaurant, named “Food of India”, just a few doors down from the hotel. The food we had there was very good. We would not stay in "The White Hart Inn", in Winchcombe again.

We visited the White Hart twice for evening dinner during our week's holiday in Winchcombe and both times were excellent. The food was tasty and cooked well, the staff (and locals who were also dining) were friendly and welcoming. Prices may not be the cheapest in area but in our mind were ok for the quality of food. The pub had a cosy and vibrant feel but wasn't overly noisy....just a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Very disappointing! Booked a while ago and when we arrive last night we were told that there was a wedding function on and we had to go to the restaurant next door. This place was dirty, had no atmosphere and the food was very poor quality. We didn’t realise until we looked at receipt when home that we’d been charged 10% service charge, completely undeserved as service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was almost empty. We should have been warned about the venue change, as we certainly would have cancelled.

We have visited this establishment several times in the past & always had a good meal. On this occasion, I wanted to book for Sunday lunch so I rang them several days previously. I deliberately asked if there was a vegetarian Sunday roast & was told yes. On the day I booked, we arrived then was told there was no vegetarian Sunday roast. We ordered goats cheese & beetroot salad (vegetarian) & pork loin roast. Apart from the inordinate length of time to get the meals to the table, neither were particularly enjoyable. They also had a very limited range of soft drinks. All in all, a very disappointing experience - shan't return there again.

Went here for afternoon tea. Such a massive disappointment. Nothing we were served matched any of the descriptions or pictures as advertised on their website. If you can’t deliver it, then why do it? Dirty stained teacups and teapots. Scruffy looking bar/restaurant, desperately needs a good clean and lick of paint. Food was just shocking. I mean, really! Massive clumsy and again, scruffy finger sandwiches, with chunks of crust still on, of which, one filling was Brie (which still had the rind on and was grey!) and cucumber wedges - bizarre! Grated cheese actually mixed together with Branston pickle - weird! Ham and massive thick slices of tomato. For the ‘sweet’ part of the afternoon tea, and I say this very loosely, we were served 2, again massive bricks of what I think were supposed to be chocolate brownie?! (Which were burnt on top) Along with 2 fruit scones, again were burnt around the edges, clotted cream and some cheap strawberry jam, that was it, no dainty little cakes and fancies, as one would expect with what was advertised as an ‘Indulgent Afternoon Tea’ We did send the Brie and cucumber doorstops back, which were replaced with ham and cheese, why?! There was obviously no point in complaining, the staff didn’t really seem bothered and the people in the kitchen (I say people, as they are clearly not chefs) didn’t have a clue or the skills. What would we of got as a replacement? More of the same I’d imagine. Definitely do not recommend this place. Save your money. The first picture attached is what was advertised on their website!

Our room was in The Wesley building next to and run by the White Hart. The TV didn't work, there was a tray with teabags and coffee sachets but no kettle, it had the smallest bathroom we have ever seen and a view of the kitchen extract system and the employee smoking area. And it smelled stale. The food in the pub itself was no better than OK. We won't be returning.

If you’re looking for a Sunday roast that will make you reconsider ever eating one again, The Queen’s Head is the place to be. What should have been a comforting meal turned into an exercise in endurance—of patience, poor service, and culinary mediocrity. Service: The owner, who carried herself with the frazzled intensity of someone managing a particularly unruly flock of angry birds, seemed determined to ensure no one, including her staff, had a pleasant time. We were reminded no fewer than eight times how much time we had left at our table—never mind the 45-minute wait for our food. Her grip on control extended beyond just rushing customers; she hovered over the card reader like it contained state secrets, seemingly unable to trust her teenage staff with something as complex as processing a bill. The whole place had the air of a business that cycles through undertrained young employees rather than investing in a competent team—not that I blame anyone for leaving. Food: The roast potatoes were so rock-hard they could have been repurposed for medieval warfare. Cutting into them was not so much an act of dining as it was a battle of wills. The meat, meanwhile, was a monument to dryness, so overcooked that I suspect even a pint of gravy wouldn’t have saved it. Not that I’d know—I ordered mine without gravy, and after sending it back when it came out with, they took it away, clearly scraped it off and re-plated it…as if I wouldn’t notice the streaks of congealed deception left behind. As for seasoning, I can only assume the kitchen is operating under strict rationing orders because salt and flavor were nowhere to be found. Atmosphere: Between the rushed service, lack of warmth, and the overwhelming sense that no one—staff or customer—wanted to be there, the ambiance was about as inviting as the food. A Sunday roast should feel indulgent and comforting. Here, it felt like a begrudging obligation. Would I return? Only if I had a personal vendetta against my own taste buds. Otherwise, I’d sooner eat a frozen meal at home—at least that would come with a guarantee of salt.

Popped to try the Swan for a quick meal. Starter .. garlic bread was served with the main meal which was really odd. It was very over done and not very garlicky. Fish + chips was also over done. V good chips though. Eton mess .. very good on fruit but meringue seriously lacking. All in all a very disappointing meal. As we were nearly the only ones in there on a Fri night had expected much better food. Soooo disappointing. Won't be returning.
