The Royal Foresters in Bracknell Forest

Lovely place with great quality bar and restaurant. Rooms were finished excellently. Great food and top quality service will 100% stay here again. Tracey running the hotel couldn’t do enough to help us and fran in the restaurant was a star. We have family in the area and this will now be our only place to stay near ascot.

Not the best experience TBH. Waiter looked grumpy throughout the service. Food not great, very fatty pork. Salad underwhelming but apparently the burger was good. It took 40mins to get a dessert menu. Expected better.

I booked a surprise dinner for my parents golden anniversary and was provided with outstanding service by the staff. All guests enjoyed their evening along with the food. Thank you for making it a memorable evening.

Had work lunch and drinks here. Parking was a total nightmare as always. Restaurant as we walked in it was super smoky like a bbq gone wrong Food. We just got some pizzas and they were really good. Chips came out cold and they were replaced right away. Dessert It was a little more expensive for a basic pizza but we paid for the location. Would go again. Burgers looked good

I went with my family for a lunch on New Year’s Day, having previously enjoyed the ambiance, the food and service . Sadly, I have to say it was not up to standard. We waited over 1 hour for a starter, and a further 40 mins for the main courses, (many were unavailable). When they did arrive, the chicken was black, the halloumi burger inedible and the service incredibly slow. They must have agreed as they removed the service charge from the highly inflated bill. Won’t be coming back…sorry

Great food and place, and maybe this is down to it being just before Christmas, but they were quite slow and it was incredibly loud where we were sat right Infront of the kitchen.

Very disappointed for NYE late food but we left ,I got a free round off them as a small consolation but won't return,don't bother if you want to enjoy yourselves

A group of five of us ventured to The Royal Foresters on New Year’s Day, lured by the prospect of a nice lunch to start the year right. In hindsight, we might have been better off with new years eves leftovers. An hour in, the mains finally arrived. The £20 chicken Caesar salad was a minimalist masterpiece: roughly eight lettuce leaves, a smattering of desiccated chicken, and four anchovies clinging on for dear life. My £20 chicken burger fared no better, initially served with a fried chicken portion about the size of two ten-pence coins. After some polite protest, the chef obliged with a replacement—now generously portioned but cooked to a texture resembling leather. A garnish of a single baby lettuce leaf, a sliver of tomato, and a mournful piece of gherkin completed the ensemble. The rest of the group didn’t fare much better. A friend’s beef burger came with bacon so undercooked it looked like it might oink. The calamari was reportedly inedible, the chips had a complimentary hair, and the pasta contained an even bigger one. As for the mayonnaise on the table? It had developed a hardened crust, which could only be admired from a safe distance. When I told the waitress we wouldn’t be paying for the burgers, she took one look and agreed. Her exact words: “Yeah, to be fair, they do look rank.” I appreciate her honesty; pity it didn’t extend to the kitchen. To top it off, the young chef in the kitchen was bellowing orders like it was a live Gordon Ramsay parody, though the food seemed to vanish into a black hole before reaching tables. Lovely building from the outside, but as they say, appearances can be deceiving. Credit to the waitress for getting the inedible items removed from the bill, but the restaurant as a whole might want to sit down, taste its own food, and contemplate life choices. Truly the worst meal any of us (10 across three tables) have ever had. Avoid at all costs.

What a shambles of a night. Our table was late but we were okay with that as we understood they were busy at 8.30pm on New Years Eve. After waiting over an hour for starters (which arrived at 10pm (!)) we were understandably getting frustrated as we had to keep going up to ask where our food was. After waiting we were still missing a starter. I personally went through the entire pre order afterwards to ensure that all of the mains were correct and we were still waiting at 10.45pm. A member of our party went to tell a waiter that we didn’t want our food as we wouldn’t be eating until after 11pm and the chef then told us that if we wanted the food then we were being put to the back of the queue … I was shocked to say the least as I felt like we already were at the back of the queue after waiting for so long! I was truly shocked at how rude the chef was as he actually made comments about me to another member of our party. The mains came at 11.15pm and there were 3 of us who never even received our mains - even after I had checked it and confirmed the pre order was correct. At this point we had given up and just accepted that we weren’t eating. An awful way to end the year and it was a total waste of time sending a pre order in, service wasn’t good at all, chef was rude and the food we did receive wasn’t even cooked properly (pink chicken and overdone steaks) … will not be recommending this place to anyone for big parties.

I have been going here for nearly 30 years beautiful setting shame about service and staff waited over 40 minutes for cold and undercooked food told waitress food serviced was not edible she apologised and was never seen again

A lovely stay - delicious food and a cozy room! We stayed here prior to a visit to Lapland UK and it was relaxing, enjoyable and festive! The food was delicious and I would definitely stay again!

We went for Xmas Day Lunch - the service and food were great.and all the staff without exception were friendly and professional. All in all it was a wonderful Festive experience. My husband and I stayed overnight in the hotel, the room was clean and spacious with a lovely bathroom. I would have no hesitation in repeating the experience. A special thank you goes to Tracey, the Hotel Manager, who was friendly helpful and a credit to The Royal Forresters, as was Oli, our waiter at lunch

My Wife's Birthday today booked a table as we have been before and had a great evening , however nice place , but disappointed with the lack of service , No fish , Sorry out of fish , No spaghetti boulenas not avaible , No duck available, My mother in law ordered the turkey and bacon wrap meal, it was over cooked and could not even cut it as was so hard , Roast potato's needed a chain saw , Cabbage under cooked My wife's sisters pie was cold Potota tasted like instant mash Overall poor food and disappointed, considering the price and service you would expect ,

Service was slow and took 20 minutes from being seated to being asked if we wanted to order drinks. Drinks then took 15 minutes to come. Food arrived quickly but missing items. food was cold by the time they corrected the orders. Staff felt like they were avoiding orders. no one asked if we wanted anything else or order. was there as table or 5 for birthday celebration.

We visited recently for a special birthday celebration with a large group. The food and service were spot on. There was a slight delay with a few of the desserts and these were removed from the bill which was a lovely surprise.

My family and I had lunch at The Royal Forester today. I have been here before knew they are decent. I was impressed by the fact that they had a table free considering we have not booked in advance. It was around the bar and had to order at the bar ..this was ok with us ! The place was buzzing, almost full of customers, nice atmosphere with Christmas music and nice decorations. Staff were friendly and polite. The service was prompt .. we have ordered Sunday roast. My daughter had kids chicken roast meal, my wife beef and I had the chicken. My meal was hot, nice and tasty, but I had very little gravy and could have had a few more veggies .. My wife said the beef was not done properly and she has only a few bits.. my daughter’s chicken looked uncooked. We had roast dinner before but today our meal was under average. I was expecting a better meal from this place. Overall it was ok, I liked the music and atmosphere. Food could have been better but I guess we can’t have it all when so busy!

My friend and I decided it was time to go and try the food here as we both pass it regularly on our journeys. We were not disappointed. On entering it was beautifully decorated indicating it was Christmas. We have pre-booked are table which meant there was no wait time and we were seated straight away. Our server was patient and able to answer our questions. We ordered the halloumi fries for starter and we both ordered our own pizzas. Absolutely no complaints about the halloumi fries or the pizza. Both were full of flavour, well seasoned, had a great crust on the pizza and you could really taste the wood fire. The atmosphere was delightful, and an overall pleasant experience.

Take more staff on! (I admit finding staff may well be the problem) In a place this big and busy, you need at least two 'floating' staff looking out for customers who would like to ask for something. It was over an hour between courses, and I had to ask twice even for a bottle of still water for our old dad. Our last three visits were not great, although I hasten to add, the staff are lovely and trying their very best. We have a 'relationship' with the Foresters that goes back 50 years, so it is more than disappointing that we have now got to the point that we will give it one more chance, then if it hasn't changed we will reluctantly find elsewhere to go. Come on guys - Sort it out! ;)

Felt like there wasn't enough staff. Staff was often nowhere to be seen or running around without looking if you need anything. My dad's desert got mixed up and chicken burger was dry as it had no sauce. We did however get a discount to rectify this. Atmosphere is great.

Very accommodating staff who were friendly and attentive. Food was a disappointment when it arrived Eggs Florentine, cold muffin cold hollandaise sauce and very little spinach. Decor is good since the refit and the car park is large. But if the food is poor I won’t be going back for a while

Timings of meals being served need to be addressed . Don't want starters coming out with mains . Chef, if there's one needs to keep an eye on his kitchen, especially temperature of foods being served . Be prepared to wait on top of cooking times

I recently stayed for business and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The room was spot on—lovely decor, big TV, and one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. The staff were ace, super friendly, and the food was top-notch too! I've stayed before, and this place just keeps getting better. Highly recommend this spot for anyone needing a break or a stay!

Visited for lunch on the 20/11/2024 at about 12.30. Tried to order a parma pizza for the staff member to rudely and repeatedly say no parma so ordered a burger for later on another staff member come over and said they haven't got everything for that, I mean come on who is in charge of stocking the food here! So food arrives and everyone's food is Lukewarm, bear in mind we are sat like 2 metres away from the open kitchen. Chips were cooked so much they were crunchy no more than 10mm long scraps. Won't be returning really not worth the money

After a cock up by my missus where by she booked the Foresters Camberley by mistake the Manager at the Royal Foresters managed to accommodate a party of 8 without fuss and was extremely helpful sorting this out with no notice so a big thank you for this - food was excellent great steak perfectly cooked and server by very helpful and attentive staff - highly recommended

Just had a delicious dinner today food was amazing thanks to everyone .

Just been for a family get together meal (8 people) Food ok but 4 had eaten theirs before the other 4 arrived! The table was booked for 2:45 and the last 4 started eating at 4pm a good half hour after the others. When we enquired before that we were told that the meals had been dropped in the kitchen and had to be prepared again. Communication would have been the decent thing if that was the case. Even when we were shown to the table we had to suss out to go back to the bar to order. Didn’t bother with desserts due to lengthy service time. The bar staff were very polite.

We recently stayed at this hotel .. I tried to rebook later in the year . The Manageress gave me her card as we were leaving and said she was too busy to make any bookings. But to email her and she would not only make said booking but also knock 10% off the final bill. (I wasn’t after a reduction in price .. just another booking for an important event later in the year) I’ve emailed this lady, Tracey Shepherd, and not had the courtesy of a reply .. I’ve emailed twice over a week …. Nothing. I’ve rang the hotel .. and the staff member who answered the phone said couldn’t take my booking but would ensure Tracey called me back … but nothing!!! Needless to say I won’t be coming back .. and this is a great example how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory .. we had a great stay and the bar / restaurant staff were great. Shame the management wasn’t up to their standard! UPDATE - The email address I spelt was taken directly from the business card the manageress gave me .. so any mis-spelling cannot be laid at my door. I booked and stayed here MONTHS ago .. so “Tracey isn’t working this week” doesn’t explain why she hadn’t returned several of my calls … going back to summer … it’s now mid - November. I do appreciate the manager at least taking the time to respond. It is appreciated!!

The newly done place is cool and service is excellent. The casual eating and drinking area is the place I like and it is my most frequent get away..... It is all weather place, and I just cannot resist myself going there if I am in the area.

We had a Lovely time visiting Lapland nearby on sat 7th nov 24 and stoped by and we were welcomed by the lovely Ellie that made us fell at home with an attentive eye for details and loads of smiles The food was delicious a pleasant environment , so we highly recommend this venue :-)

Variable quality food and short measures on drinks with some bar staff needing to learn to smile with a vibrant restaurant.

I’ve been here before and it’s been good but this occasion was really disappointing. We arrived very early for our booking and were offered a bar table which we sat down at, but subsequently declined as it was noisy and busy around us and we wanted a more peaceful romantic dinner. Small things like we weren’t given a drinks menu when we sat down, but the staff member that came to see us was helpful and ensured we had one and then were served our drinks quickly . We waited in the bar for a while before dinner. We were seated at 815pm on time for dinner in the restaurant (online booking states you have 1.5hours for the table) Individual staff were friendly and attentive but overall food service was really slow. Had the scotch egg and bread to start which was good but took some time to arrive. By the time the mains arrived at about 930pm we were disappointed to find one of the mains was cold so sent this back. It felt too late to reorder. The staff were apologetic and we had an appropriate refund but still ended up spending on the drinks and starters we had ordered, which in hindsight is irritating as we didn’t end up eating together properly and due to the time it took we were quite fed up .

I came on an Ascot race day and had the best meal in a long time. The manager behind the bar was really helpful and managed to answer all my questions when I had an allergy. The business was booming but the team seemed in control. The food arrived 20 minutes after ordering however on such a busy day I was ok with this. The food was a good portion, slightly more expensive than other places in the area but it was worth it with the level of service given by everyone I’ll be back again as we are locals!

Great time with the kids, great kids menu with loads of variety and icing on the cake was the Halloween face painting!! Great distraction!!!

My wife and I visited following a Spa day for a bite to eat before heading home. I feel compelled to write a review for this place as the food that we ate was outstanding! My wife had a margarita pizza (which I ate what she couldn’t!) and I had the Rigatoni Calabrese Al Forno and the Lebanese fries. The Rigatoni was easily the best pasta dish I have ever had and the best meal I’ve had in a few years! Piping hot and full of flavour. The cheese, the sausage, the sauce, all so so good! The fries were amazing too! Nice and spicy with a really tasty sauce. The staff that we had any dealings with were all very friendly and attentive and the service was quick but not rushed. Already planning on when we can make the long trip to go back!! Trying to outside the wife that we need to go for Christmas dinner as that sounds great too!

Having been 2 weeks ago where we enjoyed pizzas, we headed back and both had bacon cheeseburgers with an extra side of Lebanese fries(we had them last time and loved them!!). Another great meal, tasty juicy messy burger!! Just how it should be. And those fries yummmm!! Caroline was a lovely host - I liked her sense of humour and serving style. Very efficient but with personality too!

Where to start... we waited 45 mins for our roasts to arrive, which was fair enough as it was busy. When they arrived we thought wow, generous portions, unfortunatley it was cold, so was the extra gravy, so we sent it back and they apologised and said they would plate up fresh, hot roasts. When it arrived, it was cold again, lukewarm at best, this time, lesser portions and missing items such as cabbage but we decided to eat as we were hungry, especially waiting for so long. We then ordered dessert, and after waiting 30 mins we were told there was no custard, we then waited a further 10 mins, so 40 mins in total. Service was so slow, bearing in mind it was quiet at this time. Money was taken off the final bill but still it is unacceptable. So unfortunatley, wont be returning.

What a wonderful location, we visited for a long awaited catch up and it was well worth the visit! The waitress (caroline) made our evening, even though it was extremely busy, nothing was to much!!

Went for early evening dinner and was served by a lovely and helpful lady called Caroline. She was very attentive, and clearly experienced in her job. Nothing was to much trouble. Food was good and tasty. Dining experience was made very enjoyable by the attentive waitress. We will return.

Underwhelming Sunday roast. Slow service, although the servers were very pleasant. Starters arrived before our drinks. Prawns pil pil, although plenty of juicy prawns, no real flavour, and the accompanying bread was doughy and stodgy, like it needed longer in the over. Roast beef was tasteless, cauliflower cheese not very cheesy, chipolatas anaemic.. needed to be caramelised. Roast potatoes were hard and not crispy as if they’d been reheated. Yorkshire was great. While nothing was bad as such, it just didn’t have much taste, very bland and a bit disappointing. Will stick to the main menu next time.

We got served by the most rudest waitress ever (Caroline). She threw the menus at us and when asking us if we had any allergies, her tone of voice was aggressive. No smile, no service just completely rude. Had to ask twice for mayonnaise as she didn’t ask if everything was ok with our food. When we asked for the bill, she threw it on the table and left without saying anything. She came back after 2 mins and asked “cash or card” again in an aggressive tone. As the service was disgusting, we asked her to take the service charge off as we wasn’t happy in which she replied ‘I’m not happy either” and stormed off with the receipt. At this point my whole family was gobsmacked. I’ve never experienced such rude service before and won’t be returning again!

We had a really poor experience tonight loads of managers standing around laughing and joking to waiters that didn’t know how to take orders really and left you to it. Drinks took forever. All food was cold and no apology when the bill came. I think this place has really gone downhill in the last few months, and I’m very very disappointed that management seem to be more interested in gossiping together than actually worrying about what their staff are doing

We had dinner there on a Wednesday night. It was packed. The food took an hour and they had run out of the 2 dishes we wanted. The food was ok but not fantastic. The drinks came out slowly but they were good. Service was slow. Wouldn’t go back for dinner.

The experience at this establishment and Ascot racecourse was exceptional. The breakfast at The Royal Foresters was particularly delectable.

We were a group of 9 who had dinner. It was very busy in the restaurant for a Monday but the service was great. Alex looked after us very well and went above and beyond. The food was also good. A big thank you to Alex. My only comment would be it got very hot even though it wasn't particularly warm outside. The air conditioning didn't make much difference. The door was open initially but later closed. In the end we had to move outside for desserts as it became unbearable.

We got a last minute deal for a one night stay with our dog. It's very dog friendly, and the staff were all great. We had breakfast included and the options, portions and taste were all amazing. Would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in the area. The bar area seemed very popular in the evening but we couldn't hear the noise from our room.

Went for dinner as a couple, first time after having our baby boy and did not have a reservation, considering it was a spontaneous thing. The staff was nice and were able to find us a table to enjoy the nice weather. The food was good and we would definitely come back.

Great place, however the food not so great (expected so much more for the cost). Dinning area filled with charcoal smoke and smell from the kitchens. Service brilliant, but food a massive let down.

Rather chaotic experience. Very busy meant a fast starter delivery then a 90 min wait for main course. Food was very good when it arrived with a good selection of GF options. But miffed when service charge was automatically added to bill and the the payment method encourages a further option to tip! Not acceptable behaviour.

We go to the Royal Foresters for Lunch and it is impeccable. The food is amazing. From Pizza to Burger and British classics it's freshly made and tasty. Service is always on point, friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere is pleasant in a modern and vibrant environment

We came to meet a friend before they went off to another country to work for a few years. We came on a Sunday so most of us ended up having a Roast dinner, the roast dinners were horrible, the "duck fat roast potatoes" were re heated in the microwave, it was like eating cardboard, the yorkshire pudding was dry and also looked like it was made by a 3 year old doing arts and crafts, the meat wasn't that bad, they also charge you £1 for tap water which is not ok.it should be complimentary. I'm not normally like this but when I go out to eat, you normally go out to eat something you either don't want to make yourself or to get a better standard of food, it should be freshly made basically considering that it cost £22.

I was pleasantly surprised how busy it was but also how good their service was! The food was really nice and the prices are quite reasonable too. Definitely will go back!

I should make it clear none of the group I joined stayed overnight, so the review is solely for a late Sunday lunchtime meal, just after Royal Ascot. Service varied between the attentive to 'huh?’ As a nominated driver I was on Soda & Lime. The first glass was checked, cordial or a slice of lime. I chose the latter. The second, ordered through the same guy arrived with cordial. Must praise the chefs for getting 8 very different starters and mains cooked & served together. Business appears to be thriving post-Covid, and there were vegetarian/vegan options amongst the roasts.

Had a postponed Father's day lunch here and all of our meals were superb. We will almost certainly dine here again next time we come to visit

I dont give 5 stars as a rule but if I could give 4.5 stars I would. Had a wonderful time. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and made you feel like they appreciated your custom.

Little deer for some of the food cost £6 for a bowl of veg and only got broccoli and peas. However I had the gammon egg and chips which was amazing, gammon was a bit more charred than I like but still lovely and very flavoursome. Was with a group and most had the pizzas which they said tasted amazing! Service was okay wasn’t the fastest nor the slowest.

Not great.. booked for my son’s birthday and we won’t be coming back. Slow service, small portions, cold food, expensive pub grub and we walked out smelling like a BBQ.. lovely spot but poor performance on their part. Two marks is generous… 😔

Visited to meet friends who were staying for business. Having grown up in the area this is a very different venue to the original Forresters and better for it. Comfortable and modern pub, nice for informal dining. Staff were of a variety of ages which gave a pleasant mix and vibe, menu was standard fayre, nothing I would say was a signature dish or outstanding but priced as you’d expect. Sadly the pasta and houloumi fries had been sitting under the hot lamp for too long and were sent back as not really hot enough. The replacements arrived without a fuss and were clearly straight from the pan. Generous NHS discount though made it excellent value.

A fantastic place for a short break, or just great food with family/friends.

Purchased the all day English breakfast and quite frankly for the price I won't be returning. The sourdough was over toasted bordering on burnt, the sausages had not been cooked fresh and clearly left in a warm plate also found them quite small, bacon slices tiny, mushrooms stodgy & greasy, hashbrown nice but saturated in oil, baked beans tasted very cheap. Overall not worth the price & certainly not quality for the location. Wanted a good quality fresh orange juice, the only stuff available was cheap tasting concentrated rubbish that people used to drink in the 90's again expected better for this type of restaurant & location. Won't be returning, breakfast is much nicer at the Golf Club opposite for £5 cheaper.

We just had a lunch there, and the food was not good. The halloumi starter was akin to chewing pieces of rubber. The fish was more batter than fish. The whole place had very little warmth of atmosphere, and it was extremely noisy. Fancy location, Ascot, but l certainly won't be going there again!

Visited tonight with 2 friends, table booked for 5:30 pm so it wasn't busy. We chose starters to share which we're brought quite quickly, we were ask if we would like side plates, which we said we did, these were not brought to us, so I went and helped myself to 3. We also asked for tap water twice, when thIs was still not brought to us, I had to go and find someone and ask again. This was all a bit disappointing, we all agreed that we wouldn't be back for another meal

Good location with plenty of seating in and outside.

If you’re attending Ascot racecourse- this is absolutely the place to stay. It has great food and evening entertainment too. Don’t miss out!

Bit too noisy but food is excellent

Went here for a good old Sunday roast was recommended this place and definitely wasn't disappointed they have a large car park the outside area is spacious inside they have good decor and the staff are very welcoming even the chefs cooking the food as you walk past the kitchen...the food was amazing had a few starters and then had a roast which was very difficult to finish big portions here will be back again...

Always a good guest beer on , unfortunately they are extortionate on the price of a glass of descent wine.

Been here a few times and the food is always spot on. One of the best places to go for a breakfast meal

Great location, attentive staff but food somewhat disappointing. Steak very tough, and not hot burger ok, but again on the luke warm side moules good pork ok. The ambiance here is good but the food disappoints.

Really enjoyed our business meeting which we had for 2 days with lunches and refreshments included. Access to projector and flip charts. Great to meet Tracey and thank you for having us.

The bar is nice, good ambiance, they play nice music, which is good. Service okay, however, they charge for it, but you have to go to the bar and ask for table service 🤷‍♀️ Personally, i think the cocktails are expensive, small in size, served in wrong glasses, and not much alcohol. Overall okay, but pricey.

A large family lunch. Roomy seating and a large outdoor space. Price wise all good. Staff working hard and always with a smile.

Recommend by colleagues as a offering great pizza and they weren't wrong. Rooms are so much better than the average chain hotel. Near to Heathrow so will consider coming here if flying out. As an EV driver, but still a petrol head, it would be great to have a bank of chargers to use overnight. (I'm the Partnership Director in a charge company that offers revenue share solutions). With all the great parking cr clubs could have a super event. Especially with the outdoor seating area. The interior is well done. A semi industrial mixed with warm colours and comfortable fabrics. Food was excellent. Both supper and breakfast. Really enjoyed my stay. Thanks to the staff for being welcoming.

Took my son over from US as he loved your fish and chips last time he was over. Best in Bracknell 👍
