What a wonderful location, we visited for a long awaited catch up and it was well worth the visit! The waitress (caroline) made our evening, even though it was extremely busy, nothing was to much!!

Very nice surroundings, food was good quality but maybe a little on the expensive side. Despite not being particularly busy service could have been quicker and more attentive too.

Went for early evening dinner and was served by a lovely and helpful lady called Caroline. She was very attentive, and clearly experienced in her job. Nothing was to much trouble. Food was good and tasty. Dining experience was made very enjoyable by the attentive waitress. We will return.

Underwhelming Sunday roast. Slow service, although the servers were very pleasant. Starters arrived before our drinks. Prawns pil pil, although plenty of juicy prawns, no real flavour, and the accompanying bread was doughy and stodgy, like it needed longer in the over. Roast beef was tasteless, cauliflower cheese not very cheesy, chipolatas anaemic.. needed to be caramelised. Roast potatoes were hard and not crispy as if they’d been reheated. Yorkshire was great. While nothing was bad as such, it just didn’t have much taste, very bland and a bit disappointing. Will stick to the main menu next time.

We got served by the most rudest waitress ever (Caroline). She threw the menus at us and when asking us if we had any allergies, her tone of voice was aggressive. No smile, no service just completely rude. Had to ask twice for mayonnaise as she didn’t ask if everything was ok with our food. When we asked for the bill, she threw it on the table and left without saying anything. She came back after 2 mins and asked “cash or card” again in an aggressive tone. As the service was disgusting, we asked her to take the service charge off as we wasn’t happy in which she replied ‘I’m not happy either” and stormed off with the receipt. At this point my whole family was gobsmacked. I’ve never experienced such rude service before and won’t be returning again!

We had a really poor experience tonight loads of managers standing around laughing and joking to waiters that didn’t know how to take orders really and left you to it. Drinks took forever. All food was cold and no apology when the bill came. I think this place has really gone downhill in the last few months, and I’m very very disappointed that management seem to be more interested in gossiping together than actually worrying about what their staff are doing

We had dinner there on a Wednesday night. It was packed. The food took an hour and they had run out of the 2 dishes we wanted. The food was ok but not fantastic. The drinks came out slowly but they were good. Service was slow. Wouldn’t go back for dinner.

The experience at this establishment and Ascot racecourse was exceptional. The breakfast at The Royal Foresters was particularly delectable.

We were a group of 9 who had dinner. It was very busy in the restaurant for a Monday but the service was great. Alex looked after us very well and went above and beyond. The food was also good. A big thank you to Alex. My only comment would be it got very hot even though it wasn't particularly warm outside. The air conditioning didn't make much difference. The door was open initially but later closed. In the end we had to move outside for desserts as it became unbearable.

Great place, however the food not so great (expected so much more for the cost). Dinning area filled with charcoal smoke and smell from the kitchens. Service brilliant, but food a massive let down.

Went for dinner as a couple, first time after having our baby boy and did not have a reservation, considering it was a spontaneous thing. The staff was nice and were able to find us a table to enjoy the nice weather. The food was good and we would definitely come back.

We got a last minute deal for a one night stay with our dog. It's very dog friendly, and the staff were all great. We had breakfast included and the options, portions and taste were all amazing. Would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in the area. The bar area seemed very popular in the evening but we couldn't hear the noise from our room.

Rather chaotic experience. Very busy meant a fast starter delivery then a 90 min wait for main course. Food was very good when it arrived with a good selection of GF options. But miffed when service charge was automatically added to bill and the the payment method encourages a further option to tip! Not acceptable behaviour.

We go to the Royal Foresters for Lunch and it is impeccable. The food is amazing. From Pizza to Burger and British classics it's freshly made and tasty. Service is always on point, friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere is pleasant in a modern and vibrant environment

We came to meet a friend before they went off to another country to work for a few years. We came on a Sunday so most of us ended up having a Roast dinner, the roast dinners were horrible, the "duck fat roast potatoes" were re heated in the microwave, it was like eating cardboard, the yorkshire pudding was dry and also looked like it was made by a 3 year old doing arts and crafts, the meat wasn't that bad, they also charge you £1 for tap water which is not ok.it should be complimentary. I'm not normally like this but when I go out to eat, you normally go out to eat something you either don't want to make yourself or to get a better standard of food, it should be freshly made basically considering that it cost £22.

I was pleasantly surprised how busy it was but also how good their service was! The food was really nice and the prices are quite reasonable too. Definitely will go back!

Great location, good service. Food was not the best, could be so much better for the price.

I should make it clear none of the group I joined stayed overnight, so the review is solely for a late Sunday lunchtime meal, just after Royal Ascot. Service varied between the attentive to 'huh?’ As a nominated driver I was on Soda & Lime. The first glass was checked, cordial or a slice of lime. I chose the latter. The second, ordered through the same guy arrived with cordial. Must praise the chefs for getting 8 very different starters and mains cooked & served together. Business appears to be thriving post-Covid, and there were vegetarian/vegan options amongst the roasts.

Had a postponed Father's day lunch here and all of our meals were superb. We will almost certainly dine here again next time we come to visit

This location is great to combine your Ascot racing visit with an after meal/party. Service food and entertainment excellent!

Vert poor service for Sunday breakfast….. waited 50 minutes for drinks and food to arrive….. I won’t be using this establishment again……

I dont give 5 stars as a rule but if I could give 4.5 stars I would. Had a wonderful time. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and made you feel like they appreciated your custom.

Little deer for some of the food cost £6 for a bowl of veg and only got broccoli and peas. However I had the gammon egg and chips which was amazing, gammon was a bit more charred than I like but still lovely and very flavoursome. Was with a group and most had the pizzas which they said tasted amazing! Service was okay wasn’t the fastest nor the slowest.

We recently stayed at this hotel .. I tried to rebook later in the year . The Manageress gave me her card as we were leaving and said she was too busy to make any bookings. But to email her and she would not only make said booking but also knock 10% off the final bill. (I wasn’t after a reduction in price .. just another booking for an important event later in the year) I’ve emailed this lady, Tracey Shepherd, and not had the courtesy of a reply .. I’ve emailed twice over a week …. Nothing. I’ve rang the hotel .. and the staff member who answered the phone said couldn’t take my booking but would ensure Tracey called me back … but nothing!!! Needless to say I won’t be coming back .. and this instance is a great example how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory .. we had a great stay and the bar / restaurant staff were great. Shame the management wasn’t up to their standard!

Not great.. booked for my son’s birthday and we won’t be coming back. Slow service, small portions, cold food, expensive pub grub and we walked out smelling like a BBQ.. lovely spot but poor performance on their part. Two marks is generous… 😔

Visited to meet friends who were staying for business. Having grown up in the area this is a very different venue to the original Forresters and better for it. Comfortable and modern pub, nice for informal dining. Staff were of a variety of ages which gave a pleasant mix and vibe, menu was standard fayre, nothing I would say was a signature dish or outstanding but priced as you’d expect. Sadly the pasta and houloumi fries had been sitting under the hot lamp for too long and were sent back as not really hot enough. The replacements arrived without a fuss and were clearly straight from the pan. Generous NHS discount though made it excellent value.

A fantastic place for a short break, or just great food with family/friends.

Purchased the all day English breakfast and quite frankly for the price I won't be returning. The sourdough was over toasted bordering on burnt, the sausages had not been cooked fresh and clearly left in a warm plate also found them quite small, bacon slices tiny, mushrooms stodgy & greasy, hashbrown nice but saturated in oil, baked beans tasted very cheap. Overall not worth the price & certainly not quality for the location. Wanted a good quality fresh orange juice, the only stuff available was cheap tasting concentrated rubbish that people used to drink in the 90's again expected better for this type of restaurant & location. Won't be returning, breakfast is much nicer at the Golf Club opposite for £5 cheaper.

We just had a lunch there, and the food was not good. The halloumi starter was akin to chewing pieces of rubber. The fish was more batter than fish. The whole place had very little warmth of atmosphere, and it was extremely noisy. Fancy location, Ascot, but l certainly won't be going there again!

Visited tonight with 2 friends, table booked for 5:30 pm so it wasn't busy. We chose starters to share which we're brought quite quickly, we were ask if we would like side plates, which we said we did, these were not brought to us, so I went and helped myself to 3. We also asked for tap water twice, when thIs was still not brought to us, I had to go and find someone and ask again. This was all a bit disappointing, we all agreed that we wouldn't be back for another meal

Good location with plenty of seating in and outside.

If you’re attending Ascot racecourse- this is absolutely the place to stay. It has great food and evening entertainment too. Don’t miss out!

Bit too noisy but food is excellent

Went here for a good old Sunday roast was recommended this place and definitely wasn't disappointed they have a large car park the outside area is spacious inside they have good decor and the staff are very welcoming even the chefs cooking the food as you walk past the kitchen...the food was amazing had a few starters and then had a roast which was very difficult to finish big portions here will be back again...

Always a good guest beer on , unfortunately they are extortionate on the price of a glass of descent wine.

Great location, attentive staff but food somewhat disappointing. Steak very tough, and not hot burger ok, but again on the luke warm side moules good pork ok. The ambiance here is good but the food disappoints.

Really enjoyed our business meeting which we had for 2 days with lunches and refreshments included. Access to projector and flip charts. Great to meet Tracey and thank you for having us.

The bar is nice, good ambiance, they play nice music, which is good. Service okay, however, they charge for it, but you have to go to the bar and ask for table service 🤷‍♀️ Personally, i think the cocktails are expensive, small in size, served in wrong glasses, and not much alcohol. Overall okay, but pricey.

A large family lunch. Roomy seating and a large outdoor space. Price wise all good. Staff working hard and always with a smile.

Recommend by colleagues as a offering great pizza and they weren't wrong. Rooms are so much better than the average chain hotel. Near to Heathrow so will consider coming here if flying out. As an EV driver, but still a petrol head, it would be great to have a bank of chargers to use overnight. (I'm the Partnership Director in a charge company that offers revenue share solutions). With all the great parking cr clubs could have a super event. Especially with the outdoor seating area. The interior is well done. A semi industrial mixed with warm colours and comfortable fabrics. Food was excellent. Both supper and breakfast. Really enjoyed my stay. Thanks to the staff for being welcoming.

A nice place to drop in for coffee. Changed since my last visit with more tables inside. Not sure that it adds to the morning offer as it feels more like a functional eating place now more than a lounge area.

This is about the restaurant rather than the hotel. The kitchen is open, which is always reassuring. However, they need to upgrade their ventilation as the smell of cooking is all-pervasive. We had the halloumi "chips" which were tepid, as was the second plate when we asked for hot food. We then had the seabass with pea and bacon risotto. The fish was fine, the risotto had few peas but a lot of fatty bacon, whereas this should have been fried off and added when nice and crispy. In our case rather disappointing. The area towards the ladies also needs refreshing, as the sofas are stained and too low for eating (the table comes up almost to your chin, and I'm not small) and it's very noisy with the staff coming in and out with cutlery from the opposite side of the room. Why not move the cutlery station beside the bar, so it's closer? The staff were all good, the location is very convenient for lots of places and has plenty of parking. However, I'm not sure if we'd go again until it's had a bit of a spruce up...

I had belated Birthday drinks here. Such a lovely venue and a great low lit ambience! A great selection of drinks, bar snacks and a fab food menu. I'd definitely recommend this pub. Every time I have visited it has been rather busy, testament to a winning venue

Never stayed at the hotel so can't comment on the rooms etc. We went for a family dinner on a Sunday evening, table booked for 19h30. Menu's took a while to get handed out at which point we were informed about a number of menu items that were not available, Sunday roasts (understandable due the time of booking and how busy the restaurant can become apparently), all lamb dishes, cabbage dishes and mussel dishes. This off the Sunday menu cuts it down slightly but in all honesty there is still a decent variety of items to choose from. One of the groups meal was forgotten about and we had to wait for this to be rectified, not to long in honesty but still. Overall the meals were nothing special and the prices very high for what was on the plates. A rump steak was a steak, a few mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and wedges and the portions were not the same across the plates of exactly the same order. The burgers were nothing special, a burger and skinny chips, thats it. The fish and chips was good, decent portion with a variety on the plate, best looking dish at the table. For the price paid and what was served up, it was a little disappointing. There are better places around, sorry but we won't be back.

Did not stay in any of the rooms, so can't comment. But the pub food was lovely. We were a large party of 11 and the service we received was perfect. Also the waitress staff were faultless. Would recommend .

We spent our wedding day here & family stayed in the hotel, all the staff were amazing, Tracey who sorts the hotel was amazing & stayed intouch all the time, the staff in the restaurant were amazing Alex was our waitress & made us proud so thank you!!! The food was definitely 5 stars not one of our guests had a bad meal, so thanks to all at the foresters for making our day so memorable xxxx

A massive carpark which is also used by pub goers . Check in is at the restaurant reservation desk The entrance to the hotel is at the back of the pub My room(206) was up a flight of stairs. The room was an ok size Bed super comfortable WiFi OK Shower OK They have recently had a massive power cut and is playing havoc with the air con/heating and lightning My room was a tad chilly And the chair in the room was very dirty needs a good clean Evening meal was good Good choice menu a bit pricey but to be expected for the area Breakfast included and was superb Would stay again if in the area and recommend.

Food and service is great. A bit of a disappointment when it comes to breakfast for anyone with food allergies as you'd expect a place as such to have gluten free sausages which are widely available. Also, no fresh juices.

The food and service were great. It's a nice place. However, it's massive and very busy. It was full even on a cold Wednesday evening and noisy.

Didn't stay in the hotel so can't speak to that. All in all it is quite expensive but our three Sunday roast dinners were very nice and perfectly cooked, although they could have been served hotter. Definitely book in advance for Sunday dinner because it was very busy at 4:30pm and people were being turned away. They had also run out of roast dinners by 6pm presumably as a result of being so busy. Dessert was good. Not amazing but just good. However, The chocolate brownie was more akin a hot melt in the middle chocolate pudding.

I’ve visited a few times now and had a great experience every time! I can’t fault this place, they tick all the boxes. Fab food and friendly service! My last visit was for my birthday and they made it special for me by letting us bring balloons for the table and a cake. They also did a birthday dessert plate for me which was a nice added touch. I must add they do amazing Sunday roasts and have a lovely outdoor seating area too - perfect for those summer evenings and drinks after work. Highly recommend if you haven’t yet been to check this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

Felt the need to leave a review after a short stay with my family (husband, 3 year old and baby) whilst visiting Lapland UK. Having read reviews, I was hesitant to book a table in the restaurant but after a long car journey we couldn’t face getting in the car again so decided to try the restaurant. Staff were lovely, so helpful. Service was great and not a long wait at all. We had pizzas which were lovely and my 3 year old had a child’s meal which was lovely. Our stay included breakfast which was again absolutely perfect. We had the full English which was so tasty and very large! Our child had the children’s full English and it was huge! We had smoothies too which were delicious. Again, fast service and nothing too much trouble. Hotel room was comfortable, warm and we had asked for a travel cot which was provided all ready set up. Thank you for a lovely stay! Would absolutely recommend both hotel and restaurant.

This is obviously a very busy restaurant which is fine but the service was slow. The food was very expensive and average quality...we have been coming for years but this visit has totally put us off. The girl who served us was friendly enough but when I asked for the hearty 22.5 % discretionary change to be removed as they had not done a good job and we felt 16 pounds plus was a very expensive pizza that was cold..I was quizzed why..this has never happened before and I did not appreciate it!!..Affagato is easily made but you don't know how to serve it. We will not return and suggest there are other restaurants that offer better food for our money.

Overall a disappointment. We went about 10 am with my husband and my 3 months old baby. We were acknowledged at the door by a middle age blonde lady with glasses, I guess she was the host. She said “there’s no table in the restaurant, area sit at the bar area the menus are the same, order at the bar” We were like, ok maybe the restaurant area was only for hotel resident. We ordered at the bar a lovely bartender took our order and breakfast arrived within 3 minutes. We waited a little longer for the drinks but that was not a issue as we were hungry and wanted to have breakfast first. My husband had a full English and I had eggs royal with hash brown. Food was good and drinks were also good. We started to notice that straight after us ‘the host’ sat people down in the bar area, escorted them to the table and took their order. And that left me a little surprise, everyone else was receiving a service a part from us. Find this strange. No goodbye on the way out. Just a vey weird atmosphere and a little bit of a let down.

Unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. Being a Friday night the place was incredibly overcrowded and loud. The service was slow and the waiter even got our order wrong. We had cocktails at the bar to start our evening and they were really watered down. The girl behind the bar, trying to prepare them fast, spilled most of the alcohol on her fingers before getting it into the shaker…….not really very inviting to drink. Possibly the worst Porn Star Martinis we ever had. Our starters were not great either. We had artisan bread (just white pizza cut in small pieces) with what should have been extra virgin olive oil and balsamic……it was so runny that it was not even sticking to the pizza bread. My friends had 4 small king prawns with breadI and some halloumi that was covered in raw chilli slices…..way too hot to eat. My main was porchetta which was tough to eat and burnt tasting on the outside. The vegs were cold and just steamed. My friend ordered salad with salmon but the fish didn’t arrive as the waiter forgot to order it. The salad did not look fresh. When she asked about the missing salmon, we got a blob of cold sliced salmon out of a packet and thrown onto the salad…..the chef didn’t even bother to separate the slices. We didn’t get desserts as at that point we had enough with the disappointing food. The bill was £110 and 8 pence , excluding the drinks which we paid for at the bar, and included £10 service charge. When we asked the waiter to take off the 8p to make it easier to split the bill, he said it was not possible. Strange to say the least. We should have really asked to remove the service completely! I have been at the Royal Foresters other times (never at weekends) and always had a nice time. Last Friday was definitely one evening to forget. Such a shame.

We went in here before going to Lapland, I'm really glad we did! My husband and son both had pizzas which they enjoyed and I had the chorizo sandwich which was amazing! However, the staff were the highlight for me! I had a feminine emergency which I wasn't prepared for so asked if they had anything (it's a hotel as well so I thought they would) however they didn't, Tracey at the front desk went and asked around the women that worked there and managed to get something for me. Lifesaver! Thank you so much!

I went prior to LapLand Uk visit, I had seen so many recommendations for this pub if you are visiting LL. I thought that given the prices it would be special but sadly not. The food was cold and tasted pre cooked. I had the turkey and the potatoes did not taste fresh. I did spot silver trays behind the kitchen counter with veg etc already cooked. My daughter ordered pizza and didn’t eat it as she said it didn’t taste right. I was overall disappointed but would say that the service was good given how busy they were.

I went here on Friday 24th November at 1pm with my husband and our Son ahead of visiting Lapland UK. I had heard so many great things about here on the Lapland Fan Chat page and was not disappointed. It was really easy to book a table online and even amend the booking when I decided to move it forward to a slightly earlier time. On arrival the venue was very busy as I expected due to normal trade plus the extra Lapland UK custom as it’s based just a few minutes walk away. We were shown to our table which was at the back right of the building, it was a very spacious area and despite the place being busy felt very calm. The look and feel of the pub was wonderful. After a few minutes our drinks orders were taken by a server. A couple minutes later another server came and apologised that we hadn’t yet had our drinks but could she take our food order, I was impressed as to be honest we hadn’t even expected our drinks yet. Food was ordered and our drinks arrived shortly after. Our Son ordered the children’s menu and picked a starter of garlic bread. My husband and I hadn’t chosen a starter. I’m not sure how much later it was but one of our servers came with a full size garlic bread and apologised for our wait and explained because the food was taking a while they upgraded the child garlic bread to a full one so we could all share and eat whilst waiting. I thought that was such a lovely touch and reassuring that despite being so busy they knew how long people were waiting for things. The garlic bread was so tasty. Time started to tick on a little and I was conscious we needed to leave at 2.30pm. It got to 2.05pm and I noticed a couple tables who came in after us were just getting their mains so I did go to check with a server as I wanted to ensure our order wasn’t lost as it was important we had a meal before we had to leave. She went off to check but by the time I sat back down our food was arriving. Yes it was just under an hours wait for food but the place was fully booked so what do others expect. I’d rather wait a bit longer and have nice food. The meal for all 3 of us was delicious. We loved everything about the place, it’s a shame we don’t live local to come again but we have recommended to our friends who live in Wokingham so I hope when we are in the area again that we come here. The pub was fully booked, the venue and toilets were clean and inviting, food excellent and service fantastic. All staff were working so , so hard and really care about the service they provide, a real credit. If booking in November/December when Lapland UK is on do make sure you book enough time as with the popularity of the place there can be a wait for food. We were very sad to leave and on our way out the chefs who were busy cooking even looked up and thanked us for our visit which I thought was lovely. If you’re thinking of booking here you won’t be disappointed.

I would recommend you stay well clear of this restaurant. A group of friends and I were looking forward to our team Xmas dinner, but were thoroughly disappointed…even disgusted! We waited an unacceptable time between courses, the food was inedible and the management were unapologetic. The beef rib was more fat than meat and made my stomach turn just looking at it, the vegetables were under cooked and the pastry on the apple strudel was still raw! I needed to ask the manager three times for an acceptable level of discount until it felt like we reached a price that we were willing to pay, even though in reality we shouldn’t have been charged at all given the poor quality of the food. The only saving grace (for one star) was the lovely girl who served us.

Went to meet friends most of were drinking Guinness but every time time u went up to get another one they had to wash the glasses up one member of even used the same glass with out washing it only 3 staff on beside the for busy Saturday night very poor service I sergeant that need to invest in some more glasses at 6.50 a pint u would expect better

Shockingly bad. Not acceptable. 2.5hrs for 2 courses. Should of got a takeaway. Freezing cold, And that was inside! Won't be going back! Customer care is clearly not priority, Clearly taking Customers money is priority

Went for birthday celebration, three adult and a teenager. Sadly what was looking good with good starters and friendly waiter was taken down when after finishing starters we were advised that two orders of short rib weren’t happening as they had run out. This was now about 45 minutes after ordering it. We switched to rump streak. One was okay, the other really disappointing; over cooked and not best quality. We decided to skip dessert and head home. Sorry Forresters, you came below the standard we expect of you from previous visits.

We both had the Sunday roasts, Chicken & Beef… Carrots were lovely. Broccoli was great and actually very hot, which is an accomplishment in itself. Beef was tough and overdone, somewhat fatty on the eye, but it wasn’t my selection. Chicken was ok, bit dry, maybe a portion of Cranberry Sauce would have ironed that out, but it wasn’t offered. I like the Gravy, the girlfriend didn’t.. And now the best bit…. Einfach wunderbarer Service - ich war schon mehrmals hier, hatte aber diesmal aus Versehen ein Hotel mit gleichem Namen gebucht, das viel weiter nördlich liegt. Das stellte ich vollkommen übermüdet bei der Ankunft fest. Der Mitarbeiter an der kleinen Rezeption gab mir dennoch ein Zimmer und machte mir einen sehr guten Preis, organisierte mir sogar in dem vollen (und herrlich lebendigen!) Restaurant einen Tisch! … hohe Qualität von Speisen und Wein - und exzellenter Service! Und die Zimmer sind top, Preis Leistung sehr gut!

Lovely setting, was very busy in mid November due to Lapland UK. Food was really good. Would well recommend the Labanese fries and anything with poached eggs. Coffee very good but there was a bit of a wait on drinks, which even given how busy it was, was a little bizarre!
