Friendly, if a little stuffy! A friend visited in such perfectly pressed denim pants, that I was shocked when the waitress told him he wasn’t welcome, since we only visited for 15 minutes. Still, though my south facing room was a bit small, it was cozy, with a lovely view. Breakfast was welcoming and I found myself making friends! Staff was unfailingly helpful and polite. It’s very pleasant to be somewhere where people are dressed decorously, it’s true! I long to come back. It’s a beautiful place, well priced for a reciprocal member. An incredible value, with a Concierge so delightful you want to take him home with you!

Old fashioned professional service is the Normal at the main dining room at the Royal Automobile Club in the hart of London. Great wine selection, knowledgeable sommelier and very friendly Maitre'D made for a fantastic experience. Irish oysters were followed by expertly prepared sautéed Foie Gras. For our main we selected Dover Sole ,fresh, head on and delectable Pricing was very reasonable for such a grand setting and quality

Having visited the club many times I feel compelled to, on one hand commend the place which has generally been a venue in which I’ve enjoyed a variety of good evenings, very acceptable food, decent selection of beer & wine and generally very good service. It’s also fair to say that standards may be slipping. Food yesterday was very ordinary. Poorly prepared veg, tasteless mains, forgotten orders never brought to the table and a poor selection of beers due to stocks running out we were told. I know it’s hard to maintain staffing and quality in these hard pressed times but members pay circa a £2k a year for the privilege. Most of the grumbles and gripes mentioned here can be addressed through suitably ambitious management and an acceptance of only the highest standards. I hope these times return to this memorable venue.

I was quite surprised by the lack of security and control. During my recent event attendance, two strangers managed to walk in and steal some valuable items from the event room. What disappointed me even more, was the lack of accountability from the club's management regarding this security breach. Given the reputation of the club, I had higher expectations regarding security and access control. It's disheartening to be a victim of such an incident and I feel that the club should have taken more care to ensure the safety and satisfaction of its members.

Excellent service, food and drink. Only irritating element was that apparently my handbag was too big and had to be left in the cloakroom. Not good for a lady!!!

Always great stays, whether it's just for dinner, drinks meeting up with friends or in London and staying for pleasure or business. Beautiful facilities with super friendly staff and always feeling like a home away from home in the centre of London.

Nice decor and ambiance. Service was poor and sloppy with little attention paid to keeping the table tidy. Food was poorly prepared. Fish was tasteless and not fresh, served with vegetables that were overcooked. Lamb was over cooked though order was for medium rare. No one at the table enjoyed their dishes. Both food and service have been declining in the past two years.

Our friends who are members at the RAC invited me to dinner in the Grand Gallery restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We started with a bottle of champagne in the comfortable bar area after having viewed a few of the Royal family's vintage vehicles in the foyer. The Great Gallery room is impressive to say the least. It's ornate with its gold guilded ceiling. The food was devine and the service impecable. It will be a night to remember.

Another absolutely fabulous dinner at The Great Gallery - a grand old-school setting. You'd easily think you were inside a French Chateau. Faultless service, impeccable menu and very good wine list. Nothing to fault. If you're not a member, befriend one, and be nice to them and get yourself an invitation. Must be the best value Michelin starred fine dining in London.

Visited to attend Motorsport UK’s Night of Champions. Wheelchair and I assisted through revolving door and up the internal lift system to the first floor. Very grand rotunda, beautiful artwork on the walls, and stone columns all around. Drinks were held in the Committee Room, before moving across to the Mountbatten room for the dinner and presentations. Was made to feel welcome at every stage, assistance offered if needed. At the end of the evening, the doorman assisted me out of the building and got a wheelchair taxi for me. First class service.

Stayed at the club as an impromptu last minute booking. The whole check-in process was seamless and the staff were perfectly attentive. The room itself was immaculate (mostly) if a little dated. I understand that club intends to modernise its accommodation offering and this is certainly welcome. Similarly, the Turkish baths could also do with modernisation and careful restoration of period features to ensure that it remains (or perhaps retains its status as) a ‘selling point’. As per usual, the breakfast and staff in the Brooklands room were excellent.

The whole club has suffered since this lot came in. Horrible service, horrible food, unkept facilities. The quality of member has dropped significantly in the past decade and now just consists of ignorant and rude wanna he’s. So sad

We had lunch in the main dining room three years ago, pre covid and am delighted to say the second visit was just as good as the first. Seafood starters were wonderful and mains of duck for my wife and pasta for me first rate. Excellent wine and great service. And the decor is stunning.

Have been there on a couple of occasions, last time in November 2021 for my birthday dinner and my birthday lunch. Never disappointed, particularly good service.

We ate in the Brooklands Restaurant as we wanted my family from the US to experience something of London's clubland, and The RAC Club didn't disappoint. A friendly welcome; and a restaurant which offered good food, superb service, which was less stuffy than the more formal restaurants. We were also pleasantly surprised by the price, which was very fair by St James's standards. We enjoyed the Club Room after dinner which was a convivial place to catch up and enjoy teas and petit fours.

we dinned at the brooksland room restaurant with ten guests and every was extremly fine, friendly and the food was excellent. the staff very attentitive with outstanding service. if you get a chance to be invited to this amazing club in the heart of london just go and enyjow.

I have been fortunate enough to be a member of this fine Club for over 40 years and it never disappoints. I love the fact that it is a touch old fashioned, but it has such very high standards. So what, there is a dress code, absolutely nothing wrong with that! People have a choice to use it or not! My wife and I had a lovely lunch here a couple of days ago, great food and excellent service. I can't recommend it highly enough. I appreciate that it is a Members only Club, but if you get the chance to go there, as a guest of a Member, grab it with both hands. Also, very much a mobile free zone.

One of those places to just enjoy being in - relax, breathe and soak it in. The food in the Brooklands Restaurant was well prepared and cooked. The sort of menu you could eat from every day. Plus it was not overpriced. Service was immaculate - attentive without being intrusive and very mindful of time.

El RAC hace todo lo posible para satisfacer las restricciones alimentarias (sin sal en mi caso), lo cual es bienvenido.

A wonderful establishment in the heart of London. Found all the staff attentive and helpful, even with what may have seemed obvious enquiries. Relaxed in the drawing room and then the Television room, and found both to have a real welcoming atmosphere. Dinner was served in the great gallery, which is the most fantastic venue.

We have stayed here three times in ten years and the history, location, service is incredible. If you are fortunate to stay at the RAC, the restaurant is also an incredible treat.

We went with a member and had cocktails and finger food. Just had a delightful rest and conversation. The place is very large with billiard rooms, squash courts, basketball, saunas and multiple bars/ dining options. There is also a large pool inside. I believe it's 3 or 4 floors. The architecture is nice and of course there are a few automobiles inside. The facade is unpretentious and you would never know what was behind the doors. You do need to dress up but a jacket is fine.

Pedimos hígado de ternera para el plato principal y en cuestión de minutos estaba en la mesa, como si hubiera estado sentado en la cocina, ya preparado, esperando que alguien ordenara. The dress code is very old fashioned, with jacket and tie mandatory. Some people will like this but it feels very pretentious. Staff generally unfriendly and more focused on rule enforcement than serving guests. At 11pm the dining room becomes over-run with mice. When questioning the staff about this was informed that this happens every night and it was shrugged off... Hate to think what it must be like in the kitchen..

We went to a private party at The Royal Automobile Club. The venue is fantastic. The service was professional but less than friendly. The food was only hors doerves. The selection was fine as was the preparation. We will return for dinner.

The building, service, and ambiance were just great. A grand club in Pall Mall, but unlike the other clubs, this one has kept up with the times with a wonderful renovation that brings out class and luxury. The bar is amazing, drinks extraordinary, and the dinner at the Gallery was unforgettable!

We haven't been to this long-established central London fine dining establishment for many years. We were invited to lunch there withn friends, who use it regularly and really rate it. The Great Gallery dining room is a magnificent 20th century recreation of a Louis XIV Parisian salon.

We went to the less fancy restaurant because the main restaurant is closed on sundays. Amazing food! The oyestors are fresh! I ordered the mixed grill seafood platter. It was just amazing. The portion is big! The risotto is also amazing. The beetroot burger is very sweet and hence it is not oreferred. Then we ordered 6 desserts. The tiramisu was okay but I really liked the hazelnut rocher and the chocolate rasberry. They are amazing!

I was asked to stop breastfeeding my 6 week old baby and to go feed him in the toilets!! The night shift manager approached me and said he felt embarrassed and ashamed I was breastfeeding my baby. I can understand if I was sat there with my boob out, but I wasn’t, I had my back to everyone and I had a breastfeeding cover on. I am utterly ashamed and embarrassed for this hotel. I am a local journalist and will be taking this to the press to name and shame. DISGRACEFUL!!!

Tuvimos la suerte de ser invitados por un miembro de larga data para unirnos a él para almorzar ayer y ¡guau! Desde el momento en que llegamos al vestíbulo y el marido había dejado de babear por el Bentley de 1957 que esperaba que le dejaran para que manejara a casa, sabíamos que estábamos cenando en un lugar especial. This is the second time that I have had the pleasure to lunch at this impressive establishment. My host is a long time member and I was delighted to accept his invitation. The public rooms are elegant and the service impeccable. The menus offer good choice, the food is quite delicious as was the wine. The country site of the RAC is near Epsom, and is also a great place to play golf. Assuming that you can get an invite!!

As members of the RAC Club, we stay at the Epsom Clubhouse once or twice a year. It’s a fabulous place and we’ve hosted friends and family for dinner over the years. The pool is over 25M and the walks on the Downs are always uplifting.

One of the few establishments left with a not just jacket rule, but tie as well. Very formal - so formal waiters are not aloud to take your coat to the cloakroom - you have to get up and leave the dining room yourself.

This was a thank you lunch in The Great Gallery. Superbly discreet service, lovely wine and excellent food. The special Forman cured smoked salmon followed by fried fish over a heavenly risotto. Couldn't be better.

A fantastic old school members only club, hard to imagine that places like this still exist if you ever get the chance to go then take it because you won’t be disappointed.

I was invited for a Business lunch with a local member. This is definitely a very English-like members only club with a great bar and restaurant. Great and friendly service and excellent meal. I enjoyed the Dover Sole.

Excellent place to stay, fantastic staff and excellent food but the management need to get with the modern program and get refillable dispensers in the bathrooms and asap.

We are reciprocal members and we always look forward to dining at RAC. Especially in the Great Gallery. The standards are high. The staff professional and discrete. The food is truly impressive.

As usual an extremely high standard of food and service which on this rare occasion was let down by a 1/2 hour wait for our coffee. Otherwise everything else was perfect .

We had a Business meeting at the RAC

The restaurant looks a bit scruffy with tipped plates and furniture, but this is not one of those trendy places chasing the hype.

I have eaten in the somewhat formal but impressive main restaurant many times over the years and always enjoyed it, but the most recent visit was truly memorable. The quality of my meal was exceptional, including quite possibly the best duck I have ever eaten; tender and succulent, it melted on the tongue. My friends all said similar about their meals. The head chef there clearly knows what he is doing. The house wines are also among the best on offer at any top establishment. Looking forward to my next visit - hopefully very soon!

There is no finer establishment in which to dine than The Royal Automobile Club, where the cuisine, ambiance—and, obsequious attention to detail are second to none. Alas, if I were EVER at the mercy of nuclear proliferation, then my last request on this earthly coil would to be to dine at The Royal Automobile Club, followed by Hôtel Plaza Athénée (Paris AND New York locations), and hand made, homemade cannoli's by Severoli, New York City—replete with Sicilian sheep ricotta filling, candied orange rind and topped off with granella (green pistachio shavings)—the very finest cannoli in the universe!

Invited by a member for a dinner. Four of us we had 3 course meal, all different dishes and we all just loved it ! The staff was very friendly providing immaculate service. Very good value for money and highly recommend it!

Lovely for a few drinks. Good prices decent seating space and very elaborate menus. Ordered a couple of bottles of the Rosè which were lovely. The building is grand and steeped in elegance.

Thank you to the RAC for another memorable evening in the great gallery restaurant. Outstanding service, great wine list,(especially the champagne promotion) , and wonderful food. My guests were made to feel welcome and very special by both the staff and the club membership.

Get a member to take you here. The great gallery restaurant is one of the grandest dining rooms in London with spacious table placement. Perhaps the food doesn't quite reach Michelin star quality, but the prices are reasonable for the West End, even if the wines are no longer the outstanding value they used to be and might be expected in a private gentlemen's club. Excellent and unusual reasonably priced cocktails in the bar.

We went to the RAC recently for a birthday, as we have a reciprocal arrangement with our NY club, and had a horrific experience. We experienced what can only be described as racism, it's very much an old boy's network and if you don't fit in they make it abundantly clear by constantly staring and scrutinising your every move. The staff were very nice and tried to make amends but we were made to feel incredibly unwelcome by the members. The other members in the club are all white, overprivileged and entitled men who were not able to tolerate anyone who is remotely different. There needs to be better vetting of members and policies put in place to deal with stuffy, traditional nonsense. In this day and age it really is unthinkable that an institution like the RAC would tolerate modern day colonialism under the guise of a member's club. Adapt with the times or risk losing your reputation. We will not be coming back.

This is perhaps the most extravagant dining room in London- absolutely stunning with a nice view of the gardens. The dining experience was sublime- menus without prices, fresh scallops, excellent fish/beef & wines. Of course, excellent service.

I visit London 4-6 times per year and now stay only at the RAC. My club in New York has a reciprocal arrangement which is lucky for me because you can only stay here or eat here if you are a member or a guest of one. The bedrooms are comfortable and pleasant adequate size -- and at half? a quarter? of the price of alternative elegant hotels in Mayfair tremendous value. The public rooms are glorious -- lively formal bar, 2 additional bars, a huge gorgeous salon for hanging out, snacking, playing backgammon, chess, or bridge. Outdoor drinks and dining when the weather is fine. There is a formal restaurant I haven't yet tried but is meant to be excellent. The less formal restaurant is where you have a superb breakfast that is included in the room rate. Squash courts and a truly magnificent swimming pool. Concierge is excellent. The drawbacks are very minor -- limited room service and a pretty strict dress code. Yes it's a bit stuffy, formal, snooty even -- but I love staying at this club and feel almost English when I stay at the RAC.

On entering the look and feel of luxury is wonderful. Full of old world charm. The food is delicious and wine list is extensive.I recommend for a special evening

We stayed for 1 night and we had a table for six in the restaurant....the surroundings were stunning, the food was delicious and the service was extremely good, the staff were amazing.

We enjoyed the buffet lunch at the long bar. A very good choice of hot and cold dishes including sea food, cold meats and fish. Helpful service and pleasant ambiance. Also nice and cool on a hot day.

We were invited to the lovely Club & had dinner in the cafe downstairs which was quite lively. The food was superb & not over-priced.

My godfather, who is a member, took me to The Great Gallery for lunch as an 18th birthday present. The decor is amazing, beautiful paintings, architecture and lots of luxurious gold! I had champagne, scallops to start, then this wonderful poached halibut for main, light and fresh. The dessert was the crowning glory though, macerated strawberries, olive oil cake and creamy truffles, so many textures and layers of flavour bursting together. I had the most wonderful time and am very grateful to my godfather; I hope he takes me back soon!

Almuerzo en el restaurante bar brooklands. Menú de hoy bien. Tuve la ensalada de tomate y quizás el mejor pescado y patatas fritas que he tenido en el sur de Inglaterra. Peces muy ligero. Uno de mis socios tenía el mismo plato, el otro el filete.

Was invited to the club recently and what a stunning place, the building is amazing, the service is superb and the food was lovely. It is a wonderful place, great atmosphere steeped in history...,so much so I've applied to join...

This Club is a beacon of excellence, unstuffy and unpretentious but elegant and full of class at the same time. It manages to be both very British and very cosmopolitan at the same time.

Este es un maravilloso edificio conservado magníficamente por los fideicomisarios del RAC y el comedor era renovadas el año pasado, así que ahora es simplemente magnífico. El personal era amable y nos ayudó, pero logrado con tanto menú y carta de vinos.
