How lucky were we to have this lovely pub close to our holiday cottage. On each visit we experienced a warm welcoming atmosphere. The bar meals look good…we can confirm that they do a cracking Sunday lunch. Thank you to Claire & the team for making us feel welcome.

Lovely people running the place. We decided to walk over and check out the food which was delicious. We had the sea bass one evening, a burger, and I had pork, which was lovely. The chef kindly cooked us something from the main menu as we arrived early and wasn't aware there was a quiz on and different food, which was greatly appreciated. The place is a traditional pub with ales, wines, ciders and gins. We tried the Abergavenny Wine which they were advertising which was also nice. Got chatting with lots of local people, the area is friendly. Pub is dog friendly also Lovely visit and hope to pop back again some time

On our recent holiday at Rock Point CL we eat at this great pub three times! First was a takeaway Sunday lunch which was simply brilliant and then an evening meal plus another takeaway! All our dishes were perfectly cooked and we received a wonderfully warm welcome each time. Excellent pint as well. We can't wait to return!

Amazing new menu 🤩 We've waited patiently for a few weeks to try the new menu. Pork chops are my new favourite choice. But the posh fish and chips and sweet and sour chicken were also another level. Our little boy thoroughly enjoyed having the meatballs. The only complaint is there simply wasn't enough dauphinoise potatoes! Highly recommend the Royal Arms for an amazing meal, in a local pub environment

This review is written in April 2021 just as England was coming out of it's third lock down.My wife and I were staying in Llangrove for a week. We visited on the Sunday lunchtime and had the roast lunch. Portions were plentiful, service was friendly and we stayed for a couple of drinks as well. At the time of our visit, covid regulations meant we had to sit outside to eat and drink, we were lucky with the weather and this was not a problem. We returned again on the Tuesday and Thursday evenings for a few drinks but although there was a short food menu, we did not eat. Sitting outside once again was fine but once the sun goesover the pub, it was a bit chilly, but this was the middle of April. All in all we were glad we used the Royal, and would recommend it to anyone staying in the village.

We are staying in the village over the winter and tried this pub on our first night. We were not disappointed. The food is good quality, plentiful and good value. We had the tasty faggots in red wine gravy and the sea bass. Both were excellent. With starters and a couple of drinks, the bill was u dear £40. Cracking value! The pub felt very safe with all the Covid precautions being taken. We look forward to sampling some more of the menu over the coming months.

We are staying in the village for a few days and we’ve spent a lovely couple of evenings in the pub. Very welcoming, great beer (Wye Valley Bitter and Butty Bach) + guest ale and cider on tap. First night - tasty curry, second night delicious steak and beautifully cooked Sea Bass.If I mention the owners Pete and Clare by name, it’s going to look as though I’ve known them for years and this isn’t a legit review. The truth is they are so friendly that we chatted for over an hour last night when everyone else had gone home.Choose this pub for the food and the beer, and you’ll return for the friendliness.Just exactly the sort of local that every village should have!

As we emerge from lockdown, we we went to Llangrove on a long weekend break, and spent a couple of evenings in this lovely little Inn. The proprietors were brilliant, very friendly and accommodating on food bookings. The draught ales were great, must try Butty Bach, a great local ale that will make you want more. My fiance and I had a delicious meal. The food was well prepared, tasty and comprised fresh ingredients in our evening pub meal, in a friendly environment. Can recommend if you are passing by or holidaying nearby.

We received a colourful & well designed note outlining VE day commemorations, and took the opportunity to order 2 of the Picnic boxes mentioned. What a treat! The boxes were made up to order, one contained a savoury selection of 3 different sandwiches, mini quiche, pork pie & savoury sticks, the second box contained a sweet selection of scone + jam & fresh cream, mini cup cake, meringues with fruit & cream, amoretti biscuits, and fresh strawberries. What made this even better was the care taken over the presentation - see the photo. Full marks Claire, Pete & anyone else involved, and thank you. Lock down didn't seem so bad!

After experiencing a medical situation which resulted in a hospital visit, the landlady very kindly got a Sunday roast delivered to me this afternoon. I can not recommend the food from the pub during the lockdown highly enough. They offer a takeaway service as well as an off license all at very reasonable prices. The meat and vegetables were outstanding, the Cauliflower cheese was sensational and the portions are very generous (enough for 2 dinners for me!) The owners, Claire and Peter, are so caring and welcoming and can't do enough for you. Whether you live near or far, a visit to the Royal Arms Llangrove is an absolute must!

Thank you Claire for our excellent food this evening - you are so accommodating. The friendly and efficient service you offer is fantastic and the food is top quality and great value. The salmon with the pesto and pistachio crust and the salmon with hollandaise sauce were to die for especially with the chunky chips! The chicken madras pie and the Mediterranean vegetable tart also had a 5 star thumbs up. We'll be back for more!

We went to this village pub for an evening meal twice while staying nearby and each time we had a very enjoyable experience. It's well presented with an unpretentious and friendly atmosphere (the staff and the locals). The fire was lit to counter the autumn chill, and our small dog was made welcome with attention and treats. There's a good pub food menu, and Wye Valley Brewery beer (the bitter was just right). We even finished off with a box of eggs for breakfast! Recommended.

Well done Claire and team for producing a fantastic 'tastes like homemade' roast for us all on Sunday! And in the heat and such a small kitchen! You need to book and make choices of what meat/vegetarian meal you require in advance, but it is worth it. A small village pub with good atmosphere, keep up the good work!

We ordered lamb shanks, which was off the hook, and the boys had burgers (they were HUGE!!). The kids menu was very good too and the twins enjoyed it. We were staying locally and this was the nearest pub. Not the widest selection of meals to choose from - really stand pub grub. Food was good enough. Nothing special to be honest but it was good enough. Staff friendly. There was one customer who was very loud whilst we were there who’s every 2nd word was f*ing. I am no prude but it was really to much. We left shortly afterwards because it was not for polite company. Perhaps the manager should have a quiet word because it certainly made us leave as soon as we could.

Visited here with my wife as we were staying at a holiday cottage in the village. We were both a little disappointed with the food (the chicken tikka that i ordered was really bland) and also the glasses we were served our drinks in were chipped. Seems popular with the locals as a place to drink though and im sure in the winter it has a lovely cosy atmosphere.

While staying locally we visited The Royal Arms a couple of times over the weekend. The first was after a 90min walk through the Herefordshire countryside from our accommodation. The staff were very welcoming and we enjoyed a good couple of hours out of the hot sun. Our second visit was for Sunday Lunch (a party of 25) just before the England match. We were well looked after, and the food was very enjoyable (we had let them know in advance of everyone’s choices). We would happily visit again if in the area.

Eaten here twice before and found the food excellent, atmosphere friendly and dogs made very welcome. We must just have hit a bad night on Friday. The pub was quite busy and we had to wait an overly long time for food (there had been an accident with one of the staff in the kitchen). They must have got in a muddle with our order as I'm sure that some customers who ordered after us were served before us. In spite of this we would probably still go back next time we are in the area, and would recommend it as a good eating place if you have dogs.

Pleasant surroundings outside, unfortunately the food was not too a very high standard. Ham and piccalilli sandwich, ham tasteless (wafer thin and breaded, supermarket family pack springs to mind). Should have been advertised as a Piccalilli sandwich, Coffee was fine.

I absolutely love being in this place and it has a beautifully calm feel. However I am totally astonished by the dolls-house size servings for lunch- at normal lunch prices. I almost asked them if they hadn’t accidentally given me a kiddie’s portion - for a cheaper price- as for over £9 I got two slices of delicious small rye toast, about 7 very small lettuce leaves, 4 olives and a small pot of delicious dip. All very tasty but absolutely not a main course. I know I these are locally sourced ingredients but this felt really wrong. I will definitely return for post lunch coffees but will make sure to eat somewhere else where I can fuel up for lunch before hand.
