Unfit hotel and unfit to live in it

It has large conference rooms that are suitable for conference and presentations.

I know this hotel and I know the area very well. The hotel is a bit of a dump and I believe is currently housing asylum seekers. The area its in is the pitts and is either old factory's or buildings sites for flats. Its a long dingy walk in the city centre. If your visiting Birmingham, I wouldn't recommend staying there.

Lovely staff. I delivered to them and me being cheeky went back 20 mins for the toilet. Let me in and use their toilets no fuss. Us drivers really can appreciate that when you get cut short. Thank you to all the staff

I had no problems with the staff as they appeared to be used to the complaints by guests which was really out of their hands. The room had a single glazed window with growing mould and the amount of condensation inside of the windows could be collected into a bucket for a shower. The room was freezing all night as the electric heating was not working properly. The bed was so uncomfortable, felt as if we slept on springs. We had one socket to share. Other better hotels cost less or about the same price, I would rather pay more for comfort than suffer all night. Even the curtains don't close fully so you don't feel you have total privacy. If you have health issues such as asthma or other chests/lungs problems then please don't book this hotel. It needs closing down and renovating back to its past glory.

heating system not working almost froze to death that night

Booked and paid for a room a week in advance. Arrived at 10:50pm and was told at reception we couldn't check in as there was a shift change so to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly once the new shift logged in, odd but OK. While sat down we could see they were checking in other people. Went over to ask what the situation was and were told someone would be taking our bags shortly, but the two current receptionists were looking at each other and we were getting suspicious. At 11 there was a changeover of staff and one of the 2 new receptionists came over to advise he was still looking to find us another room in another hotel!! Turns out, not only did the hotel give away a room that we already booked and paid for, but the receptionist we initially spoke to didn't tell us this and tried to keep us out the way until the shift change and it was no longer her problem! Also new receptionist was not aware we hadn't been told either so when he came to "update us" it was a nasty surprise for everyone! After waiting for an hour of calling round the 2nd new receptionist told us they couldnt find a room in another hotel, but as a last resort they had a twin room that was currently under maintenance we could take a look at first (we were told the room didn't have bedding but they could put some on) There was huge area of damp on the wall and the paint and plaster had fallen off and was all over the carpet and one of the beds (could see why they weren't selling this one - but also we couldn't stay there). Left and stayed with family in the next town over. The room was vile (although I understand it wasn't a "sellable" room) but what I can't forgive is A. Giving away a room that was paid for and B. The initial receptionist(s) who not only didn't take ownership but totally scammed us until the shift change so they wouldn't have to deal with it. Absolutely do not care about customers, reputation or future business. 22/11/19
