Unwelcoming today. It was exeptionally busy today, being half-term and some sort of Halloween event for children. Anyhow, we asked for a table for two, were about to leave, as told “the only place was outside”. We were about to leave and saw a table. My husband went to order and told “the table is reserved for 1:15”, to which my husband said “we will have eaten by then”. He was then told “the kit hen is backed up anyway”. We left.

Thank you so much to everyone on the Rowdey Cow team. Mum and I had an amazing lunch. Sadly my mum collapsed after the meal from low blood pressure. Claire was incredible as were the rest of the team in helping my mum, calling an ambulance and keeping us all reassured. Not only that but you have stored my car until I could get back to collect it. What an amazing team. Thank you.

I was looking forward to a well deserved cuppa after including the Rowdey Cow on my circular walk around Devizes. However what I wasn’t expecting was the cost of a small pot of tea for one. £2.60. You might as well call it £3.00 as the change isn’t going to buy you much, if anything at all. The tea wasn’t even graced with a biscuit. I’m getting tired of being ripped off by cafes charging exorbitant prices for hot flavoured water. If you were with, say, a family of four and you just had tea, you’re talking £10.40. Add to that cake and couple of ice creams, then what does it add up to? 30 maybe. I’m not sure how families survive. £30 is probably enough groceries for an individual for what, 5 days? I’m sorry to judge the Rowdey Cow on the price of its tea, but based on that alone, I’m not filled with much confidence when it comes to recommending a visit to anyone in a tight budget. By contrast the Caen Hill Cafe nearby charges £1.90 for its tea.

Firisty was seated with a menu, that's fine the lady in the headband and baggy tshirt was lovely. Then we ordered food and drink. Tea was perfect fresh milk partner really enjoyed it. I was served a cold bottled apple juice was really tasty. HOWEVER I got given a dirty glass to pour it in. Ordered breakfast Avo on toast with 2 hashbrowns on the side. What a shambles for 9.00 you get A slice of cold toast. Avocado with no seasoning even though it said come with chili flakes and well the eggs was basically boiled on my plate but perfect on my partners. More flavour in Greek yogurt then in that whole meal. I gave the glass back at the end and told the young girl behind the bar to check the glasses before she served them. She never even apologised I stopped the lady outside in the headband and told her how awful it was after we paid nearly 30.00 for it all. She said you should have come over and told us. My reply was NO you should have done a table check ( she was just dancing round and hugging all the staff behind the bar) She then told me to put the review on TripAdvisor so here I am. I am disappointed in today's visit and would not recommend. The customer service needs some wwork here.

Thought we’d visit today as we’ve not been for a few months & wow things have changed & not for the better!! We were shown to our table & given food stained paper menus. Our food arrived, the fries were slimy & had the worst vomit smell. A waitress came over who said her sense of smell wasn’t great but she smelt them & quickly returned our meals to the kitchen. They returned back fries swapped for chunky chips. The chicken burger was incredibly dry, the scampi greasy & the children refused to eat the chicken nuggets. The Quality of the food has definitely changed & not for the better. Going out for lunch is classed as a treat in our family & paying £59 for such a disappointing meal. We definitely won’t be returning!!

I've been to the Rowdey Cow a few times in the past. It makes a good cycle stop off on a hot today. They style themselves as premium, handmade farm ice cream, and the prices certainly match that: about £4 for 125ml. Sadly, as I discovered today, it's all a massive sham. In reality, it's ultraprocessed rubbish using cheap ingredients -- and far worse than most supermarket ice creams that cost a tiny fraction of the price. Behold the ingredients list for basic vanilla: 25 ingredients, including NINE different types of sugar and SIX E numbers. That's easily the worst I've seen in any farm icecream, ever. Contrast this with a premium icecream like Häagen-Dazs, which is 5 times cheaper but has just 5 ingredients, 1 type of sugar and no E numbers, emulsifiers or other rubbish. Rowdey Cow ice cream isn't proper ice cream, despite the farm surroundings and premium price tag. It isn't even food, really. Rather, it's an industrially produced edible substance, and one that's chock full of nasties to boot. Don't be fooled!

Well, what can I say about the Rowdey Cow that is positive? Thank goodness for the ice cream!! I have been before whilst in Devizes visiting friends but will never visit here again. The wait for food took so long I know freshly cooked food takes longer but an hour seems ridiculous on what wasn't an overly busy time, the food was below standard from our previous visit, and poor value for money. We ate in the building in the garden along with the cobwebs and spiders with the price of the food it looks like they should spend some money on a long-reach duster, the tables and floor were sticky, the toilets were not any better they don't look like they are regularly checked. The staff were rude but maybe that's because what I believe were supervisors were standing around talking while the others were serving customers.

Where do I start? From start to finish this wasn't great, personally as an adult I do not find being called 'darling' repeatedly by who I believe was the manager, slightly belittling and not something I enjoy. To wait over an hour for some food that quite frankly was completely basic and comes DROWNED in coleslaw... yet when I came a few weeks ago was completely different? There was also a lady in green on the tills with blonde hair and who honestly had no idea what she was doing unsure if she was possibly new? To sum it up... the food isn't great, the wait is ridiculous went for lunch by the time is came out it was dinner, and the competence of the whole 'team' wasn't brilliant.

From the flaking sign at the top of the drive I should have kept driving. The interior was needing a very good scrub, dirty tables, sticky floors and the plastic sugar holders were greasy. There is fantastic views of nearby hill and forestry and it felt very chilled. The menu wasn't over complicated, a few good breakfast choices and a large selection of hot drinks. I plumped for a full English and a mocha. The quality of the produce was excellent and locally sourced. I would go as far to say the best breakfast I have had in years. Staff checked in to see how I was getting on and if they could get me anything. On paying I grabbed a tub of ice-cream to take out which was excellently insulated. The kind chap gave me some directions to Devizes and warned of the hill on my route. Total winner! I would encourage anyone driving by or using the canal to take the short detour. I've recently moved to the area and the Rowdey Cow has become a favourite spot to visit for delicious icecream. I am slowly working my way through the flavour menu but progress is hampered by the addition of 'limited time special flavours' - which have included custard cream and white chocolate & kit kat. Pre- lockdown visit. Met a friend for coffee on a Sunday morning. Be very aware of visiting then as most tables are reserved for lunch! I had a latte and cheese scone. No sign of cheese in the scone, only some melted on top. Very disappointing. My friend had a fruit scone which I would have opted for had I known how bland the cheese scone would be. We did buy take-out ice-cream, which they provide in polystyrene tubs. Their ice-cream is very nice. Usually at least 10 flavours to choose from. I would visit again and avoid Sunday morning.

We came across the rowdey cow in the Camping and Caravanning Club magazine and as we were booked into their Devizes site for a couple of days to visit family decided it would be somewhere new to have a coffee. We were certainly not disappointed. We were a family with three daughters and we brought my elderly Father along. We started with drinks which were easy to order and then later my Daughters had ice creams which they said were the best they had ever had! Its a really nice set up with lots of outdoor seating, a play area and some animals to look at. It was really nice to have somewhere new to take my Father which was level and easily accessible with nice surroundings. There is a farmshop next door which looked good. All in all a lovely morning out and we will definately visit again when we are in the area.

The chips were great value for money and a great complement for the sandwiches. The only downside if being picky was the tables inside the additional inside sealing area were dirty when we say down. The inside needs something to make it feel more than just a wooden box, but with that said the food and view were great and that’s what’s really important. Would have given 4.5/5 if i could.

Came here today for the first time from Salisbury as we thought it would be a nice treat for us all, lunch and ice cream on a hot day, perfect....well that wasn’t the case. Wish I had not of wasted my time now. Let’s start with the food. We ordered 3 children’s meals and 2 adults meals. The chips were hard and not cooked properly, the cheese was awful (not sure if it was out of date or not) the chicken strips were so dry and bland my 6 year old couldn’t eat them or her chips and the panini was soggy and inedible. So a complete waste of time and money. So we thought we would try the ice cream (as we had promised the kids)... So you have to go to a different window at the front to order your ice cream with what seems to be the slowest service that has ever existed so you end up queuing for ages. When you finally do get the ice cream that you have been looking forward too that is just as bad as the food! The double cherry tasted like chemicals and sick and had to be thrown away and the mint chocolate chip was the worst mint chocolate chip any of us had tasted too. So we ended up having to throw away all of the 5 Ive creams as well as the lunches we had to throw away too.I am extremely disappointed, definitely wouldn’t recommend and we definitely won’t be returning again. Once is more than enough for us

We were looking for somewhere new for lunch and this popped up on Google. Access is through a working farmyard and you then arrive at a large, if somewhat muddy (so don't wear shoes you need to keep clean!), car park with disabled parking available. The lunch menu on the day we visited was small and it wasn't clear what was and wasn't available but when it arrived it was excellent. The sandwich had a very generous, delicious filling as did the jacket potato. Both came with a small side salad and coleslaw. The website showed that a larger menu is available but I'm not sure when this is offered as it wasn't when we visited. There's a large and interesting ice cream selection available to eat in or take away, again portions are generous. It was a little chilly as I don't think the log burner was lit which was a shame. There is a covered seating area overlooking the garden but judging from other people's reactions that wasn't heated either. There is seating and a children's play area outside overlooking various livestock but it was in need of some TLC. Hopefully they will sort this out ready for when the new farm shop is due to open in Spring 2020. Good parking and easy access.

Was told that their usual Coke in small bottles wasn't available and they were pouring into glasses. Okay with this, took a table number, menu and a seat outside! It was dirty to say the least. A very polite lady came out with 2 large glasses of Coke and asked us to try them as she thought the Coke was flat. It was, and she took them back. What then arrived was another two (considerably smaller) glasses which contained Coke from another 'flat' bottle. We returned the Coke and left without ordering food. Thankfully, I didn't have to pay for the Coke (well, it wasn't consumed) but it would have been £3.90 I believe!! Poured from a big plastic bottle like you buy in supermarkets! I have read some good reviews so no idea what went wrong today! School holidays perhaps? But we know when they are, so no real excuse!

Have enjoyed this place in the past. However, awful experience today. Cream teas turned up with no cream or jam despite being prompted to take drinks and food as a 'cream tea' deal. No one bothered reslly when we asked nicely where jam and cream was. Maybe this is indicative of Saturday staff. A lost customer.

We had breakfast for 2 today, bacon was cremated, sausages only marginly better, mushrooms overcooked to be barely recognisable. Long wait for meal, no blackpudding available AFTER accepting order, hash browns as a substitute were poor. One star for coffee. We are regulars for the ice cream parlour which is excellent. The moral is keep to ice cream

Contrary to recent reviews I visited here for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed my late breakfast outside in the garden with my dogs. The staff were really friendly and the service was prompt. I had the small full English and enjoyed the bacon and sausage very much. I was a little miffed that I couldn’t swap the beans and toast for more mushroom but I understand why they limit “customisations” as it makes service easier and I was hungry so I appreciated getting my food quickly!

This place is a firm favourite of ours, and I still say their ice cream is second to none. However, our last two visits have been disastrous. The first was dealt with satisfactorily by the manager and it would be unfair to judge them based on that alone. However, we visited over the bank holiday weekend, and were told at 1pm that we couldn’t order any food, because the chef was ‘under pressure’. We had four hungry children with us who we’d promised lunch before ice cream; however we were told we couldn’t even by them a sandwich. There were scones on display but apparently we couldn’t have one of those either because it would involve going into the kitchen! It was all a bit ridiculous and customer service was sadly poor. It would be wrong to say that I wouldn’t return in a hurry - but as we can no longer guarantee being able to eat properly there, I think we will only go for ice creams in future. Perhaps it’s a case that Rowdy should be sticking to what they’re most famous for!

Lovely icecream but given that it is a farm and a family day out I find it disappointing they don’t allow dogs in the cafe. There were no signs on the door not allowing dogs that we could see. After having bought ice creams and settled down we were then told we need to leave. We were told that someone had complained on trip adviser about dogs even being in the garden. Personally, if it was my business I would say “It’s a farm, if you don’t like animals, go elsewhere”. It’s a family place and as long as dogs are well controlled they should be allowed in the cafe.

We have known this cafe since it opened. We were horrified on our visit today after a gap of a few months by how dirty it was. The floor in the extension was covered in food stains, dropped food, dirty serviettes and wet wipes and general detritus. It needed a good scrubbing. The whole place was dispiritingly scruffy. The food was ok but you do wonder if the kitchens are clean when the rest of the place was not. We won't be going back until we hear there has been a clean-up.

Met up with some friends and had very nice lunch. Queue management could be improved but service friendly and prompt. Ice creams generous portions and good value. Luckily it was nice enough to sit outside - indoors is a bit crowded and can be noisy. We walked down from Devizes: the footpath is not well marked but easy enough to follow down from Shackleton Place drive. A very nice outing.

If you are looking for the taste of the country whilst surrounded by the country side then The Rowdey Cow is the place to go. Amazing ice creams made on the farm and very creative with favouring, taking into account the seasons. They also have a good choice of hot and cold foods, all freshly made to order. Great kids meals as well and cater for little ones with proper kids plates and cutlery. A great outside play area for your little ones to explore and if you are feeling energetic a walk around the farm and some of the surrounding fields to see the animals on show, donkeys, ponies, cow, duck, geese etc. A fab place to go what ever the weather to while away an hour or so. You wont be dissapponted.

My wife and visited today with daughter and prospective son-in-law. The oldies had the one of everything while the juniors had the full two of everything plate. Our daughter is as thin as a rake so where she puts it all I have no idea! however suffice to say, all breakfasts were totally enjoyed. Service was great and the sight of loads of middle aged cyclists in lycra did not put us off at all! By the way,the 16 flavours of home made ice cream are wonderful too!

I was really excited to come here because I love ice cream . I ordered the belly pork stuffing with roast potatoes it was lovely until I found a hair in my food. It put me off completely . Just thinking about it makes me want to vomit. I discreetly give it back to the lady behind the till and showed her and told her it’s really put me off. I didn’t expect anything or asked for anything I just needed the plate with the hair away from me. I went outside to see my son , seen I lady with a apron talking to friends and patting their dog . I approach her as she was walking back into the back door. I asked her did you serve me earlier ? She said no . I just said their was hair in my food ! She just looked at me and said I know . No apologies, what kinda place is this ? If on the menu it states food with hair I would not have ordered anything.

We've loved the Rowdey Cow for years and have been on numerous occasions, our kids absolutely love it there and the staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. However, the food recently has really gone downhill to the extent we are no longer going to be visiting for anything other than ice cream (which is fabulous). The Sunday roast used to be PHENOMENAL, the best pork belly I've ever had, perfect crackling and all the best you could wish for, but now the crackling is soft and inedible, I've had stuffing that is raw in the middle multiple times and the bag now consists of cabbage and a few carrots. It's such a shame. We did mention the issues on one occasion, because we genuinely feel sad about not wanting to return but the member of staff was pretty disinterested and we have given it a good few chances in the hope that it was just an off day or teething issues with new staff, but it seems to be a permanent change sadly.

It’s lovely here, food is always tasty and I enjoy the atmosphere. The menu recently changed a lot which was very disappointing and has put a number of my friends off visiting the cafe. The paninis were our favourite and have all been removed, my friend was looking forward to trying the pork and apple burger. That’s gone from the menu as well.

We have been several times here with our toddler. She loves to ride on the toy tractors in one of the barns and see the animals. There is also a playground. We had Sunday lunch once which was pretty decent and the ice cream is really good too. Worth a trip!

We discovered this farm cafe recently while on holiday in Wiltshire. I was in search of a full English and the Rowdey Cow offered 2 options, the full English and a smaller version. I can’t imagine how anyone could eat the larger one since the smaller version was huge! And it was delicious. The sausages were really good, the bread fresh, the black pudding had just the right spice and texture. My husband had a breakfast sandwich which was also substantial and yummy. We are so glad we found this little place. Be on the lookout for signs directing you. It truly is on a working farm.

Absolutely dreadful! Advertised a la carte menu replaced with a 'bar' menu. Took the waiter 15 minutes to bring a menu and ask if we'd like drinks 40 minutes for food to arrive which was not hot. The pork belly my colleague had was wrapped in gooey fat not crackling, the pumpkin sauce was a teaspoon of orange 'something' and the seasonal veg was mashed potato and some peas. The chicken burger was deep fried and tasted of old fryer fat as did the 'tepid' skin in chips. Presentation of the burger was non existent and the two tiny leaves of lettuce were brown. This was fed back to the waiter when he finally returned to our table his response was he'd mention it to the Chef. The after dinner treat of sticky toffee pudding was solid and rubbery, not moist. The tiniest bit of ice cream and a token gesture at the sauce all was tepid. The dining room was cold and drafty. The decor tired and wall paper peeling off the ceiling and walls. Utterly awful experience with nobody interested in the overall shoddiness of the service and food. Really disappointing, especially as this is the closest hotel to work. A real missed opportunity for this Hotel and Restaurant.

Stopped off for a late lunch/early dinner. So much to choose from. Had the steak and ale pie with mash and the steak and kidney pudding with mash. Both delicious, hot and plentiful. Amazing value for money. Staff very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Lovely place for families, dog friendly too. 5 star on all fronts.
