The Roundhay Pub in Leeds

We thought to come for dinner as the food is usually okay but today was outrageous! We ordered and didn’t receive our drinks for 30 minutes. Then we had to wait a further 1hr30minutes for our starters to arrive. We ordered Garlic bread that came freezing and chicken taco, chicken tacos on discription from your menus! Include “mayo and palle de galo” I got a taco with 2 tiny chicken strips and what looked like just leaves. Then we had to wait a further 45 minutes for our mains. We voiced our concerns to the bar staff and they explained we could have a “one free drink or pudding” for the long delay and explained they were really busy in the kitchen despite only having approximately 10 people in the pub.

We often visit the roundhay for food and sometimes drinks. The staff really do make this pub. They are always polite and friendly especially Christine, she always greets everyone with a smile and is always busy catering to customers needs. She’s very approachable and really is a credit to the pub.

We’ve been coming here for years and usually have very little to complain about. We came this evening for my daughter’s birthday (her choice!) and ordered our food, it took 45mins for the food to come and when they did it was all deep fried. And the halloumi was cold. The scampi we paid £12 for was a crunchy ball of mess on a child’s size plate. We spent £60 in total and it was honestly the worst iv ever had here. All the staff were new and looked very young. We did complain in person to the waiter but got no response, he just said ok, took the food back to the kitchen and that was that. We arrived at 5.30 knowing the DJ sets up at 7.30, so we were hoping to be gone before it started but we were still there when he started his set. With kids. I don’t know what’s going on in the kitchen because there was hardly anyone in the place. I wish we’d not bothered.

Absolutely terrible service.. booked a few weeks in advance for 22-29 people for a birthday meal..they took all our meal orders so had them prior to us arriving, we arrived between 530/540pm, gave our orders & paid for our meals. About 7pm they brought out 3/5 kids meals, 20 mins later they brought 3 main meals out they were cold & unenjoyable & by 8pm no more & was told we could have a refund which we did! They clearly couldn't cope with the booking although it was booked in advance. Eventually asked for a sharp knife to cut the cake for the children, 30 mins pass still no sign we had to use a butter knife! Used to be a good pub but definitely won't be going back again!

Terrible. Went for a birthday, went to order food and the staff member said can't order for another 30 mins. Went back to the bar after 30 mins to be told they were no longer taking food orders. How ridiculous on a Saturday evening.

Took the family out for Sunday lunch on St Patrick’s day to the Roundhay. We had beef dinner, steak and ale pie and fish and chips. All cooked to our liking, couldn’t fault it. Great atmosphere for the football, staff very attentive and friendly. Fairly priced, good range of drinks.

Had a really nice visit here at the roundhay on Thursday evening, food was cooked perfectly and tasted great the bar and waiting staff was very friendly,we will definitely be comping back☺️

Went on Saturday night with my mates, had a great time. What more could you ask for on a weekend, berr, sport, music and beer! see you next weekend. and karaoke

Came to the Roundhay for mothers day, we was originally a party of 4 but turned in to a party of 7 last minute. The manager was very accommodating in letting us have extra seats. We had a great time and we will be booking again soon

Food was delicious and every staff member I spoke to was lovely! Great evening out would recommend to friends! Very good for the price.

Came with my boyfriend and shared a steak fondue. Great value for money, huge portion sizes and absolutely delicious!! Good environment and great service from Ben the manager. Will definitely be back soon!

We come to The Roundhay on a regular basis, this time around there was between 15-20 of us. As a group we would like to say thank you to the guy and the girl on shift, very friendly and very attentive, I believe she was called Chloe, food hot and spot on, great music and great atmosphere. We will see you again in a couple of week

Went for lunch with my grandchildren who are very picky eaters, however the food was spot on and they cleared their plates along with myself. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff where very friendly and cheery. It was great value for money with a good variety to choose from. Definitely going to go back as it was a nice place to eat and rekax

What a lovely evening . tbh I wernt expecting much , boy o boyi I were proved wrong . I went with friends Brenda Carol and Rob , we ordered the 2 for £11.99 deal I have to say the service and the portions were fab . And more so the flavours of ALL of our dishes were superb for what we paid Iam astounded at their prices and have to say we ate the lot . well done the roundhay we can not fault you . We will all be back and thank you again, your prices for food and drinks are amazing .

We come to this pub often , however recently noticed a significant difference in the food quality. We ordered a steak flatbread, when this arrived the flatbread was covered in liquid and was extremely soggy. Unsure if it was grease from the steak or veg but it was unedable. We notified the member of staff. He spoke with the manager but because we had eaten some of the steak we couldn't have a refund. The steak was eaten before we lifted the flatbread. Extremely disappointed with this service.

Had a great night drinking yardbird ale in the lounge bar with the interesting and friendly locals and staff. The place is captained by the brilliant manager leesa, a funny and strange little woman with the quirks and foibles of an eccentric geriatric. Floating around the bar serving customers effortlessly is the elegant and beautiful Charlotte. Or was it Charlene ?? Then appeared the lovely Jess , well spoken and very friendly but with a slightly sinister but intriguing dark side. The best was yet to come. Christine sauntered through the bar with a big cheeky, cheesy smile “evening ladies and gentlemen, everyone okay ? “ She said. Every person in the bar seemed to smile in unison, including the nearby dog, Stella. She , and the rest of the crew kept us entertained all evening with various tales and comments. Can’t wait to go back for more.

Had a fantastic meal on Saturday it’s not very often i have a saturday night off as i works nights. We had steaks that were cooked to perfection. will be back again, thanks to all the staff.

Booked a table for 10 tried to add 3 people but got no reply. Arrived and no table reserved ended up putting tables together ourselves but unfortunately there was not enough space so ended up on different tables. We all order separately bills but all at the same time. Some items came on come bills and other arrived later. One meal didn’t come and when we asked they had given it to another table and hadn’t even started cooking a replacement. But they made no effort to let us know. We order 3 drinks on the app and they sat on the back bar for 20 minutes until I went and collected them myself. The post mix gas ran out and they just stopped serving pop. The beer was sour which suggest the lines have not been cleaned in awhile. And to top it all off they came to ask if the meals were ok long after we had made a complaint. Do the staff not talk to each other? Terrible won’t go back.

Came for lunch and ordered the chick ‘n’ mix - chicken breast was tiny and chicken thigh was basically a lump of shrivelled skin. Came served on a huge tray which made the food look even smaller and less appetising. Service left a lot to be desired too; staff either abrupt or vacant.

charlotte was very good host made me feel very welcom and would deffo come again she was smiling all the time and made an extra effot

We lunch there 3 times a week food is great - landlady and staff are lovely - pleasant surroundings and other customers. Always enjoy. Slight complaint - sauce containers are occasionally empty

Great pub! The landlady is the best, the staff work hard and keep the place clean and tidy, food menu is good value, entertainment on weekends, plenty of TV screens.

Went to the roundhay today for mothers day a treat from my children service was really good no issues there didn't wait to long for food either about half an hour but prices were a bit expensive bit I guess thats the times now so when the food came I was expecting value for money however what I got was the size of a small tea plate and warm food not hot at all if I had to mark the food out of 5 it would definitely be a 1 I had the lasagne won't have that again a bit of a shame because half an hour after getting home I bought it back up this has definitely changed from a two years ago when I first went for me its got worse won't be going again

Very helpful staff, who were pleasant at all times. Charlotte and Judith, together with Amanda in the Kitchen, served up a really excellent pair of meals. This is probably our 10th visit here, and we shall certainly call again soon.
