Will not be returning ever. Paid to camp today Purchased drinks on arrival which were ok. Told on arrival by the owners daughter that food was served till 8.00pm. We also told her we would be coming for dinner. Arrived at pub at 7.45 to be turned away and told to order a takeaway from somewhere else as they had closed the kitchen. Then at 8 seemed to leave the pub, probably for a night out at a decent pub. Very rude and no understanding of manners even. No takeaway anywhere near open even though Saturday night and do not deliver, checked Uber eats, deliveroo and just eat. Anyway left and did not stay the night, as we have better things to do with our life than to have poor customer service from a Brat and her boyfriend! Good luck my thoughts are with service like this, this place won’t be open for much longer! Will never return. Ps looked at old reviews and a lot of mention of fox hunting. Saw nothing of this when there but fox related images in pub.

We ended up in the pub after a day in the fresh air. It was so warm by the fire and the staff so welcoming and hospitable I didn’t want to leave.

Excellent Sunday lunch. We stayed at the adjoining caravan site which is very level and has very good facilities. The grass on hardstanding also drains well - we had thunderstorms on consecutive days. This is an excellent find; we will definitely be back. Sarah the landlady at the pub who runs the site, and her daughter Jess, barman and chef really go out of their way to be helpful and welcoming. We ate in the pub, and the beer garden. The standard menu is honest, very good value and freshly cooked, tasty food, with a good range for children. The Sunday lunch was really outstanding. There was a choice of beef, pork or chicken. We chose the pork and chicken which were plentiful portions, excellently cooked, with a wide range of fresh and roasted veg, also very tasty cauliflower cheese. As I’m from Yorkshire I appreciate a Yorkshire pudding with any meat and was not disappointed. Lashing of gravy too. Amazing value for money - you would go a long way to get better, and certainly not for this price. Good range of well kept beers and other drinks. This is a traditional, family run village pub, popular with locals - always a good sign. The pub and garden are very child friendly; dogs are welcome too.

At short notice we had Easter Sunday lunch for 6 and the food was fresh very well prepared and plenty of it. Excellent value and good service. Has a pleasant rear garden area and will definitely be returning.

Called in without booking on a recommendation from a friend, and was not disappointed. The Sunday Roast was absolutely gorgeous. The choices were Beef, Pork or chicken. All four of us chose beef, got a pint and waited roughly 15 mins. When it came, on the plate was x2 generous thick slices of beef, mashed potato, 2x real roast potatoes, a real roast parsnip and a home made massive yorky and gravy. Then came x2 bowls of colli cheese and a large bowl of veg to share (carrots, cabbage and broccoli) we also asked for extra gravy. Everything was done perfectly and tasted delicious, we couldn’t get enough of the gravy it was so tasty. My only gripe (if you read my other posts) is shared veg, I personally would prefer my veg on my plate to save all the awkwardness of being polite or taking too much, but is my only gripe. The food was fantastic and we’ll definitely be going again.

Charming Cafe it is. The coffee is very good. The photos of table laid with cutlery and napkins and lovely decor enticed us drive out to Monsal Head where we know the views are wonderful to have a light lunch. BUT We sat at a table and although the place was empty ( very rainy outside ) the staff didn’t acknowledge us, say hello even or explain it is counter service only. If you are expecting food, think again. No meals, No sandwiches, No baked potatoes or anything substantial, just a few cakes, savoury pies and sausage rolls Most disappointing. Wasted journey. WILL NOT VISIT AGAIN. Hassop Station nearby saved the day fortunately.

great little bakery in the centre of wirksworth, spotlessly clean, and run by a friendly elderly couple, who make everything homemade. cakes, pastries, and homemade pies, and also coffeees, teas, and cold drinks.very reasonable prices, and just up the road from Wirksworth railway station. i always pop in for treats when i catch the train up from Duffield for the afternoon, recomended..! :-)

Called in for an ice cream this afternoon - salted caramel and a bubble gum. Overall quick service and tasted fine.

Lovely cafe in Matlock. There was an excellent selection of vegan options, and the food was delicious. Very well priced for the area, we managed to get a seat outside which added to the experience. The service was also amazing, especially the two teenage girls that were on shift. Will definitely be returning when we return to Matlock. Thank you!

We recently stayed locally for two nights and ate at the Miner’s Arms both nights. Nic was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious on the first night but on bonfire night, we ordered the greedy Greek platter on Nic’s recommendation and it was excellent! Delicious food, really dog friendly and very welcoming. We’ll be back!
