⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Perfect Wedding Reception Venue!! Me and my now husband Steve had our wedding reception here, and it was just absolutely perfect. Jenny & Lol we’re fantastic hosts - they had set up a lovely private room, which was decorated beautifully. We paid for a buffet which they provided and it was outstanding!. There was a wide variety and plenty of food which catered for everyone, Jenny & Lol even went above and beyond and catered for a celiac. A friendly, cosy pub perfect for special gatherings or occasions. Would 100 percent recommend! Thanks again Jenny & Lol. Sophie & Steve!

This is a nice typical pub and is a very pleasant place to get a drink and something to eat. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The service is very good and the food is very nice and you get plenty of it. The price of the beer and food is very good value indeed.

Absolutely fantastic little hidden gem , we live near by just 5 minutes down the road but it was our first time eating here , we went with our kids for a Sunday carvery , meat was beautifully cooked - we had a choice of 3 beef gammon and Turkey all three were beautiful and cooked perfectly , there was loads of choices of veg to go with it and lovely home made Yorkshire puddings , every bit of it was delicious , kids plates were a really good portion they were over the moon with their food and everything was very fairly priced , everything was cooked fresh and was spot on , I believe lady at the bar was called rosie she was so lovely and welcomed us with a big smile and so was all of the other staff unfortunately I didn’t catch their names , it’s a lovely little pub definitely worth visiting very nice atmosphere , they also have a lovely little garden out back with outside seating , we will definitely come here again and recommend to friends and family

Just had a lovely carvery. Our beef and turkey was perfect. Excellent choice of vegetables. Staff very friendly, I was so full up i asked for lemon meringue and ice cream to take home for which they were happy to oblige, definitely will be returning. Well deserves 10 stars instead of 5. Thankyou very much.

Excellent Sunday carvery food was lovely and service was very good. No complaints from any of us infact probably best one we've had.

Was a bit disappointed with the food for the price paid. Ordered a Carvery and most of the vegetables were dry and hard, not a large selection. Also no vegetarian alternative to meats or gravy from the look of it. Price for the meal was a lot more than what it was worth. I understand it is a small, local pub but just not the best quality but maybe suits locals as it's quick and easy.

A really nice friendly pub for this weeks bike night. The landlord gave me some tie wraps to hold my speedo cable so i could get home safely. Thank you.

Saturday night they had a great band called Soundbeat. Absolutely fantastic night hope they play there again.

Lovely pub with great staff, all the food is homemade and delicious with amazing prices. Beautiful beer garden with a play area for the kids and dog friendly. Would highly recommend a visit :)

The best find on our weekend away with the mother. Homemade Turkey and ham pie was beautiful. Each meal served with proper chips, hand cut. We enjoyed it so much that the carvery was sampled the following day.. perfectly cooked meat and veg. Great service, very welcoming and made the weekend feel extra special. Fabulous Sunday carvery experience with very attentive and friendly owners and staff. Such a lovely atmosphere. Really tasty Sunday lunch with lovely meat selection and lots of vegetables choice. We go regularly. Highly recommended by the Laming family 😁.

We called in 2 nights running last weekend for our wedding anniversary and we had 2 fantastic meals each we can't fault it the owners, staff and fellow customers were very friendly a good selection of drink and food available plenty of tables inside and out to enjoy your time there great establishment well worth a visit

First visit to this establishment and it won't be the last. Had a carvery which was delicious, only criticism I have is there were no stuffing. Lovely garden area with a children's play ground. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Definitely recommend.

Having lived in this area for 7 years, can't believe we've never found this place. Popped in for late lunch today. Food great, staff great, clean and tidy. What a great place, we will certainly be going back.

I have lived a few miles away from this place for 7 years and came upon it by chance today. Great food, clean, tidy, great staff and very reasonably priced. Will certainly return and would recommend to all.

We have stayed in the area over the last couple of days We popped in on Wednesday evening found the staff very friendly and enjoyed a lovely meal Popped in again today for a couple of drinks and again found staff and patrons very friendly Will visit again when in the area

Fairly good would go again but had better

Food disgusting and bar staff utterly vile and more concerned about going out and planning there own evening than on the customer's that are paying good money for a service that wasn't delivered. Shame as heard good things but the last few weeks seem to have gone down hill

Very accommodating and friendly staff very good food for the money plenty of vegetables for a change sadly missing from main stream eateries and the portions for me we're immense to much for me! However I am sure others will cope! Would go there again, ate there 2 evening's on the trot 👍

Went there last night for a quiet drink with my wife. The bar person (the licensencees son) had no idea how to operate the till and had to ask his mother twice how to register my payments. I paid for two rounds of drinks initially. As we left to come home we were chased out by the licensee asking if we had paid for our drinks ! Firstly- communication between bar staff had failed miserably and secondly and far more importantly - how dare the licensee doubt my honesty and integrity ? I’m NOT the type of person to try and cheat anyone. An apology from the licensee would be welcoming but I doubt this will happen. We will not be going back to this pub unless I get an apology.

Even though short notice Happy to accommodate large family group on a Sunday. Staff very busy but good service and lovely carvery. Family all stated would love to go again next time come to visit. Will also be going again with Friends.

We had a fantastic Sunday roast for 13 people today and the food was amazing. Also want to say the staff were fantastic and friendly. Thanks for fitting us in today really appreciated it. Regards Andy

Lovely meal (very tasty pies full of lean steak, and great hand cut chips), friendly welcome. We're intending a return to a nearby B&B so we will be back.

A great place to eat and the Carvery is particularly good and well attended. Its very popular with the villagers and it gets really busy so its a good odea to book a table. Both Jenny and Lawrence, the owners, are welcoming and friendly plus if its just a beer you want then theres a great beer garden and a good variety of beers to choose from. Its a popular place why not give it a try.

Friendly, reasonably priced, meals available, pool table and dart dartboard. What more could you eant from a pub.

Very out dated ,very few beers and food was awful,we had spare ribs that was just all gristle and as for the chips I don't know what they cooked in but it tasted more engine oil .We will never go there again but after this review I doubt if we would be welcome anyway

Four of us were staying at a local b&b and booked here for our evening meal and drinks. Food was freshly home made and tasty and the service was great. Really friendly banter with the landlord made our evening. Will definitely return when in the area.

We were staying nearby and visited The Rose and Crown for Sunday lunch. The roast dinner was delicious. The staff were friendly and nice and the atmosphere lovely. All Covid restrictions being adhered to and made our visit very pleasant. Definitely return.

Meal and service was great. Absolutely fabulous chips. Only four stars because we weren't asked if we wanted a smokers or non smoker table.

We've eaten 2 meals here this weekend. Friday and Sunday lunches. Soooo tasty! I cannot rate the Sunday lunch highly enough...tasted like it was made with love and just for me! Thank you Team Rose & Crown!

This is very much an 'old school' village pub. There are swirly pattern carpets and wooden furniture. The food is basic and cheap - but perfectly good and plentiful. There's good parking. The bloke behind the bar was a bit surly - but that goes with the general ambience!

Just been there , Monday evening 18:40 A Grey blond bar person was not keen to served me , I just decided to leave , really unfriendly for tourists, I am sure it’s a great place for local people but not as a stranger ,

Called on off chance that we didn't need to book for carvery, they got us a table straight away. Due to covid the carvery was served to the table but we was asked what vegetables we would like, i have to say its 1 of the best carverys I have had and reasonably priced.

Dropped in for a few drinks but found the landlord fairly abrupt and quite a few profanity’s being used in the pool room by patrons. Food was nice and reasonably priced, with a lovely lady serving us.

Had chilli 1/2 rice and chips, beef super tender. Husband bagged the last freshly battered fish. Followed by crumble and choc sponge both with custard. Very clean. Relaxed and friendly. Service with a smile. Serve food till 8pm

First time we've eaten here and it won't be the last. Reasonably priced for good quality food in friendly atmosphere of a proper pub. Not a topical chain.

Very hospitable and friendly venue. Don’t let the tired decor out you off. Fresh seasonal vegetables accompany a choice of three great roast meats. Real roast potatoes and rich gravy all reasonably priced. Didn’t get to sample dessert but did see a delicious looking pudding but I had no room for more! Perfect for an unfussy feast.

We visited with friends for a Sunday carvery. The atmosphere is lovely and friendly, and the food is wonderful. They don't stint on either quality or portions, and my beef was to die for! Fully recommended, but book first to avoid disappointment.

Great welcome. Excellent beer and good food. We walked from our excellent B & B at Brampton Dales Farm for our evening meal. We were made so welcome we felt like locals, who also made us feel very welcome when they turned up for their Thursday night quiz.

Very nice homely pud. The Sunday carvery was very nice. The music was a bonus also made a massive change to the usual pop music that plays in other puds. Will be back!

Fantastic food, Incredible value. Great cook. Jenny was so lovely and the locals made us so welcome. We will return. Shame we live so far away in Norfolk. But we will be back.

It was my first visit to the Rise & Crown. It was quiet upon arrival but quickly became busy at it was quiz night. The pub had a warm welcome and we was greeted by a lovely lady. The menu doesn't have a massive list to choose from but is adequate. I chose the surf & turf at £13.50 which was cooked to order and very fulfilling. The Rose & Crown to offer food for 2 for £10 too. The dessert menu was amazing and I couldn't decide on one, so I had two! The portion sizes are brilliant. I have been told this pub is renown for the Sunday carvery and we was recommended to book! Thus pub will accommodate people of all ages and I will definitely be returning to try their Sunday lunch :)

Set in a beautiful village we have visited this pub a couple of times whilst staying at Brampton Dales farm b&b. Love the pub, food really nice, great country pub atmosphere, highly recommended if your in the area.

The food is unusually cheap for the particularly high quality (and volume) of it.

We had a Sunday carvery here yesterday, and as usual it was very nice. We eat here fairly often and recommend the steak and mushroom pie off the menu, which is available from Wednesday to Saturday. The landlady makes her own pies which are packed with lean meat, lovely!

I was very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very impressed with the venue for sexy boy Ewan’s birthday party, the alcoholic beverages were smashing. 100% recommend

We had visited the pub before for drinks, but had never eaten there until a few weeks ago. We took our son and daughter in law for Sunday lunch, and it was exceptional. Home cooking at its very best - everything was cooked to perfection- even the cabbage! The roast meats were all delicious, the roast potatoes crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the vegetables perfect. Look out Masterchef, this landlady, who does the cooking, would be a clear winner!!
