The Rose & Crown depicts the persona of supporting the Monarchy a& fully English. We found it to be full of IRA Supporters

Watched the racing on a big screen. Pub was packed and luckily we managed to get a seat. Cost less than £7 for 2 pints.

Always a brilliant night out in the rose! I usually end up there once every few weeks and it's a right laugh. Will always be back.

Myself and my partner visited this local pub twice during our visit to Newcastle. Once in the afternoon when it was a brilliant atmosphere and the other on a Thursday evening when it was very quiet and too many homeless hanging about outside. The wednesday afternoon the place was bouncing really friendly staff and locals. A decent selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drink. Plenty of sport on the TV. However a fair trek upstairs to toilets.

Cracking toon bar ,mad busy whilst I visited (Friday afternoon) great ales imagine a good night venue.

Great though back type of boozer, if that's what you want. It's very friendly, karaoke every night, cheap drinks. What's not to like? Try it, you never know.

If your calling in for a drink make sure you DON'T need the toilet.. otherwise take a couple of Sherpas and an oxygen bottle with you. Same applies if your disabled.(take a bucket)..the disabled toilet is downstairs but ALWAYS out of order..unless your a regular,then you can slide in and use it !! Typical lower end city centre boozer..Decent pint, good service.. huge in your face TV screens, dodgy clientele. .. enjoy

Can't remember a lot really but Karaoke was brilliant.

Dont buy shots! I witnessed the girl who sells them, Refill used glasses without washing them and sell back on, That is vile!

The pub itself was clean and upbeat, however as a former soldier, the group on the Karaoke were all of the Republican fashion, literally every song being sung was to promote the IRA and Fenianism, they were loud and arrogant and to many for the staff to put a stop to it, not that they would have as we later found out that the Karaoke was hired through a customer and the permission was given by the owner, they were actually aware of the political favours of the people singing in the pub. I made my concerns to the staff and explained, in the hope that the singers would be made to cease the political songs, how would they have taken to the music if someone was listening to the Loyalist Paramilitary tunes. The entertainment was disgustingly unnecessary and the owners/ landlord was already aware that these people were using their Karaoke to raise funds to benefit their political members. I for one, will never step foot in the place again , I have passed on the information to those who need to know, and those who are sure to prevent it happening again. Loyalist Paramilitaries v Republican Murderers ONLY ONE. OUTCOME

Great pub for beer and wine! Me and a friend were searching for a place to have a drink in a holiday, the Rose & Crown appeared as a good option, well located and open till late! Great experience!

Typical local pub, floor a little sticky, local people, sports on TV, usual crew, not bad

Bar staff completely ignored me and served everyone else that came in after me, oh well, my money was well spent elsewhere

I got thrown out for asking the doorman not to so aggressive with bar staff, he the threatened me pushed my mates 60+ years old dad that hard he ended up in hospital. Again just because he asked him why he was so angry and why I had been thrown out. There was plenty of witnesses including a nurse dealing with my friend in the road. Right up to landing in that pub we had really enjoyed our weekend in the great town. I would just avoid this place with gusto

The Rose & Crown Newcastle upon Tyne Thuggish door men 881871613 If you value your health don't go. The door man literally threw a lad out for spilling beer. When my 70 year old brother asked the door man why he needed to be so violent, he threw him backwards into the road, hitting his head on the Rd. My brother was hospitalised with cuts and bruises. These thugs certainly enjoy their work. The deputy female manager and the door man joked and smirked as my brother lay on the floor. I had to ask the police who attended to take him away from the scene as it was aggravating the witnesses and nurses who were caring for him. This place should be shut down 

Old pub with great beers at fantastic prices

Absolute belter of a pub !!! We use it every year when we hit the toon for rugby leagues Magic Weekend . A very extensive selection of Beer , wine & spirits . Always something happening here , be it Karaoke . Dancing . Live sport events on their huge TV's . The bar staff are always very friendly and welcoming . You haven't been on the toon until you have visited this fine establishment . Go on , ya know it makes sense .... 🍺🍺🍺🍷🍷🍷🥃🥃🥃🍸🍸🍹🍹

Pub and atmosphere spot on and staff were great,only problem was some “ loudmouth” women came in all lairy and in your face spoiling every customers night.Fortunately as we were leaving the bar staff were just about to remove them .Will be back.

Ok bar. Plenty of TV screens for footy. Only 3 bar staff on day we went, on a match day so it was. A scramble to get served.

This is a crackin' pub full of good, friendly locals (primarily older folk), always up for a chat or a bit of Geordie banter. Drinks are cheap, bar staff are so friendly and sociable and you don't seem to get any bother. Everyone's welcome and there's always a character or two up for a laugh. Great music too. Me and the lass love it in here and can never stay for just one pint. Would recommend this great English pub to anyone.

A great proper pub who caters to their clientele. Sports lovers won't be disappointed, an eclectic rather fab range of music being played. The regulars were very friendly, atmosphere was buzzing,and the beer was cold. Very reasonably priced. I'll visit again when I'm back in Newcastle

I had a lovely pint of John Smiths on Armed Forces Day & i didnt even see myself on the telly Cos they didnt have it on Even tho they were supposed to According to the brewery

What an amazing time we had at the pub both nyt the people were so welcoming on our visit and bar staff were lovely especially our chris baby shark lol we shall defi etly be back in september 😁

I was just in this pub and it was 10.16pm when I entered. There were about 4 people drinking at the bar and 8 to 10 other customers drinking at tables. It was a good atmosphere but I was told by the male bar person that he had just closed and wasn't serving. I was mortified. Why are they closing up at 10.15pm when website says 11pm ? I only wanted a dark fruits cider and would have gone, totally appalling.

Nice pub but shame about the locals…..you don’t expect a 50 + year old woman to start on a 30 year old for no reason. Little intervention from bouncers to address their behaviour. Trying to pick for a fight most of the evening, there’s no need for it. Disappointing
