Very quiet early evening so a test for a pub with four handpumps. Test passed with a decent pint of beer. Not one I'd heard of and a sample offered but I do pints to get a proper taste but a nice touch regardless.

The Newcastle Arms is a North East icon and rightly charged decent money for drinks. The problem is though that they have the worst toilets in Newcastle. Easily the worst. Here's a photo of the gent's toilets which have been soiled in the pan but also had evidence of feaces and vomit in the hinge of the toilet seatm In short, no-one takes care of these facilities.

We went here for a quiet drink one night during the afternoon. We also went here for a lively drink after our dinner one night - well, it was a Saturday night and the duke box was playing and the customers were really enjoying themselves. They advertise a variety of cocktails and if you buy two you save a bit. We had two porn star martinis for £13 - good value and they were very good too! To be recommended on both occasions.

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of town around St James Park when we chanced upon The Newcastle Arms Pub ,a really fantastic pub that was just a joy to visit. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, the interior is superb, a cool looking solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings, Newcastle United F.C memorabilia adorning the walls, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a really good pub to chill out in. We were here on a Wednesday night, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we ordered at the bar and chose a pale ale, these were served in excellent condition, we just settled back and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish to it, a classic British pale ale, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and to be honest being back in Newcastle again after all the recent travel restrictions. We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here, only stayed for the one each before moving on and for a first time visit to The Newcastle Arms Pub we had a great time. The Newcastle Arms Pub is easy to locate along St Andrews Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Saturday, 11am till 11pm. Sunday, 11am till 10.30pm. A wonderful pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

The Newcastle Arms on St Andrew's street is another fantastic pub by St James Park that offers a superb range of beers and is without doubt one of the liveliest pubs that we went on a city break in Newcastle. Housed in a traditional pub building which looks fantastic when illuminated'the inside of the Newcastle Arms is superb with many interesting signs which relate to Newcastle United. With excellent seating options and friendly staff and locals it's a great pub to go for a couple of pints before or after the match. The Newcastle Arms was really busy when we visited here as Newcastle United where at home to Burnley FC in the Carabao cup which Newcastle United lost.We visited two other pubs around this area and all of the pubs we visited were really busy and there was a great atmosphere in here with many fans blaming the owner for this teams poor form as Newcastle United should be a top team with there fan base and history. When here we had a couple of beers from the Firebrick brewery which were perfectly served and well priced.A great pub that is well worth visiting and easy to locate from St James Park bus or metro stop it's only a few minute's walk.(This is my first review of the Newcastle Arms). Opening Hours Monday-Thursday-12.00-23.00. Friday-Saturday-12.00-00.00. Sunday-12.00-23.00. Nearest Bus Stop. St James Park bus stop. Nearest Metro Stop. St James Park metro Stop.

Went to grab some food and drinks before attending a concert in the area. Staff were really friendly and helpful until one with a badge that said 'Team Leader' came over to deliver some drinks and demanded to one of our party "move your phone", no please or thank you or even eye contact. The need for the phone to be moved was due to the fact that none of the dinner dishes or glasses had been cleared so the table was quite full, although there was still plenty space. When one of our party, who works in the service industry, tried to help out with drinks he was yelled at "don't touch it". At no point did the team leader make eye contact or show any type of customer service and seemed unable be anything other than aggressive, which seems like a poor example to be setting for other staff members. A poor end to an otherwise as expected visit to a Weatherspoons. Can honestly say I have never encountered rude or disrespectful staff at the other venues I've visited

Absolutely horrific experience. We had to wait an hour for a cheesy chip wrap, and when asked after 45 minutes where our food was we were told it was in the oven? Confused? We weren’t offered anything as compensation, absolutely will never be coming back here
