Been here afew times over the years, and never disappointed. Be back again on the 14th Feb, to dine and stay. Really looking forward to it. Great food, great service, lively atmosphere.

We’ve been big fans of R&C, have eaten there a dozen times.Always more than satisfied. But this time was unexpectedly poor. One ‘hot’ meal was cold. Two of us had the mushroom gnocchi as a main. It consisted of a couple of chopped fried mushrooms and a few potato balls. The “mixed veg” side was an uninspiring salad. It was all served after a long wait. Such a shame when we’ve loved the place before. (Booking for 4 Thursday 30 Jan, 12 30 Taylor)

The Rose & Crown is a really nice place to visit with a great choice of food. The pub was clean with fresh decor, the staff are very welcoming, all smartly dressed and I felt like nothing was too much trouble, even on a very busy Friday evening. A large car park meant we had no trouble parking. We’d have liked to stay here for our short break as I’d seen great reviews but they didn’t have availability for our dates. After such a good experience we plan to come back and stay.

Lovely food with a good choice. Very attentive waitress, Liseve, who kept us topped up with drinks and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely recommend.

The Rose and Crown has a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our family meal was delicious, the steak was very tasty and cooked perfectly. We were pleasanly full but the idea of having a smaller dessert with a hot drink proved irrisistable. All of the staff were friendly and efficient, but Lana deserves a special mention, she was very attentive but not intrusive, she got it just right!

We arranged a family meal at the Rose and Crown to celebrate an 80th birthday. We all enjoyed a wonderful evening. The service from Lana was exemplary. She was attentive and professional throughout our meal - everyone commented on how well she looked after us. The food was superb - the quality, the taste, and the presentation. Thank you to Kirsty and Alice for communicating so promptly and professionally with us about our menu choices prior to our visit. The kitchen was ready to serve our party of 10 quickly and efficiently. Thank you for making this family occasion so special. We will definitely return.

This is a lovely, homely pub, food is tasty and fresh. There are some good options on the 'specials board' as the menu isn't too big. Only slight issue is the cost of puddings, above average. Great idea to offer scratchcards in December for January meals!

We decided to stop here on our way home for a bite to eat. We asked if there was a table for two available and although the place was very quiet the barman said he would ask. He came back & showed us to a table. Ten minutes later no sign of a menu or anyone coming over to take a drinks order despite there being plenty of staff wandering around & chatting together behind the bar - no one made eye contact with us at all. We felt extremely awkward & unwelcome and so we got up & left. Unfortunately this experience has put us off returning to actually try the food.

The rose and crown has become our favourite place to eat. Their Sunday lunch is excellent and their vegetarian options are varied and tasty, always very enjoyable visits and good value for money.

A Wonderful Stay at the Rose & Crown Our visit to the Rose & Crown in Devon was made truly memorable thanks to Adele, who gave us the warmest of welcomes at breakfast this morning. Her kind and helpful nature made us feel right at home and her attention to detail ensured that every part of our experience was simply delightful. The rooms were beautifully appointed, offering both charm and comfort. The pub itself had a lovely atmosphere, cosy, characterful and the perfect place to relax after exploring the area. A heartfelt thank you to Adele and the entire team for such a fantastic stay. We can’t wait to return to this gem of a place in Devon!

New Years day and we were fitted in on a last minute booking. Service was superb and the food matched it. Unfortunately too full for the wonderful desserts on offer, definitely for another day. Will definitely be back.

Went for quiz night and unexpectedly had table service by a jovial young man called Jack. The evening was made so much better by not having to send one of our party to the bar to get drinks and, despite a crowded pub, Jack was able to look after us very well. All drinks etc were put on a tab and settled up at the end of the evening.

Really lovely place to stay and eat. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and decent shower. Service in the pub was very friendly.

Party of three adults. Two of us had the steak frites & it was not hot, and a bit over priced. Bit disappointing for such a lovely place. I should have complained but it was a treat for a friend & it would have spoilt the lunch.

Went for dinner at the Rose & Crown - the refurb looks great! My boyfriend and I had the BBQ ribs and chorizo and chicken tagliatelle, both were lush! Our server was very helpful and answered all of my questions. Didn’t catch her name but she told us she had just returned from maternity leave. Overall, a great dining experience!

We booked for a party of 5(and a dog) for Sunday Roasts, which we had ordered lamb, pork, beef brisket and a special Steak & Ale pie. All were tremendous. Staff were beyond helpful and pleasant from the moment we arrived. The Arancini starter was simply perfect too! Lovely ambience and atmosphere and an overall grand experience had by all (even Baxter the dog!) We will definitely be coming again.

First time back at R&C for years. But we'll be coming back more often now. We had a lovely dinner (venison) and great drinks in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Stayed overnight and had Dinner and Breakfast. The room was very comfortable. The food was very with a good choice one menu. Staff were welcoming and the service very good.

Stayed at the Rose & Crown in Yealmpton this week for 4 nights, and ate there every morning and evening. Absolutely brilliant experience all round - lovely people, fantastic accommodation and delicious food! We will definitely be back!

This was an unplanned visit at short notice. We found the staff (especially Paige) to be very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and just the right amount and the selection of drinks was very good. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be returning soon. The large car park was an unexpected bonus.

Jacque, Leo and Kirsty were dp great and attentive. Food was cooked so well by Brad and Charlotte.

Food was great - just a small issue with an under-lemoned dessert which was sorted - nice to see responsibility accepted not batted. And our waitress Ruby was incredibly helpful and personable. It’s a little noisy - the effect of a good reputation and plenty of bookings - to bear in mind if you have someone hard-of-hearing with your party.

Gorgeous pub and delicious food. Had the duck gyozas, rabbit cacciatore, pork roast, and lobster butter fries. All were AMAZING. Would have eaten 2 portions of the fries if I could manage. Thought I was stuffed but had to end on a chocolate brownie and chocolate tart!

Visited The Rose and Crown for Sunday roast and it was so disappointing, especially after been trying to find the time to revisit after last years visit which was really pleasant. The atmosphere and service couldn’t be faulted, ourselves and our dogs felt very welcomed and tended to. The only disappointment was our food. We had the pork and the lamb. Yorkshire puddings on both plates were stone cold. The gravy was tasty, but not a lot of it. The couple of potatoes which were on the menu as seasoned, couldn’t be tasted. Half a parsnip also Luke warm was sat on top of a slice of meat.. The meat was nice, just portion sizes were very underwhelming. We was given one side dish of veg to share between two of us. This included one piece of broccoli being cut into two. For the money, you’d expect a satisfying sized meal, particularly being a Sunday roast. Will definitely be back for a beer inside by the fire or in the garden in the sun, but sadly won’t be back for food.

First time Sunday Lunch. We went for the lamb. Potatoes were a bit hard lamb/gravy was only Luke warm. We had to ask for our vegetables after waiting for them five minutes. That said lamb was very nice not at all fatty and choice of vegetables was excellent. Two minor issues wouldn’t stop me from coming back

Avoid birthday parties had kids running around our table while trying to have our Sunday lunch, staff say nothing. Been here a few times probably wont again.

We came here purely by chance, drove past and thought we'd give it a go. Oh my God, I'm so glad we did. I'm not saying the food was the best pub food I've tried, I am saying it was some of the best food, full stop, that I have ever eaten. The lobster butter fries were a £1 upgrade and were incredible. The three cheese burger was amazing and my wife had the Steak Frites that were mouthwatering. The service was quick and the staff, friendly and attentive. Overall... 10/10 will definitely be back.

What a wonderful place to stay! Rooms were well equipped with everything you would need, and we're spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The food was just delicious! Cannot wait to return.

I stayed here for one night in September 24 and also ate in the restaurant. Food was excellent, as were the staff and the overall ambiance. Really could not fault anything at all about my room or the facilities. Well done!

It’s great to see the Rose and Crown thriving and we have used it happily over the last few months. Our last visit though was disappointing. We specifically asked for a table in the bar area but on arrival were told none were available. We accepted a table in the other side of the pub. This area has no atmosphere and is in need of a refurb in our opinion. We were disappointed to see another couple arrive and get seated in the bar area a few minutes after we had sat down. The food was ok the staff ok but they were under pressure and a few basics were forgotten i.e. wine bottle was plonked on the table unopened. We wish the new team well but we won’t be back.

What a wonderful pub! It ticked so many boxes from the warm, effortless welcome, the consideration over a dietary requirement, the superb care and interaction from the staff and the delicious food that was served. It made our trip South!!

We enjoyed some food here on Tuesday night on a recommendation from a friend of a friend. I had a steak which normally when I go out is never to my liking however the steak here was perfect well cooked and also well seasoned my compliments to the chef overall the Rose and Crown is a great pub serving great food thankyou again and look forward to my next visit.

Many times we have visited The Rose and Crown but we found this time there wasn't the friendly atmosphere. My husbands DoomBar had to be taken back as it was very cloudy no apology had to ask for something different. Perhaps we went when everyone had a bad day.

My time hear was really nice. I moved to Devon not much more than a year ago and was recommended by a friend and was wowed. To start our server Adam was very nice and friendly even after our long order😂. The food was excellent and the deserts also. Would recommend to all.

I've cooked and eaten out a lot of lamb and a lot roasts... But I can honestly say, this was the BEST roast lamb I have ever had! So very tender and flavoursome. I would 100% recommend! The staff were all very polite and professional too. And last but not least, they serve food till 9pm on a Sunday! Winner. We have definitely found our new favourite restaurant for roasts.

Quality English Breakfast and coffee at a fair price. My brother and I make a point of breakfasting out together most Sundays to catch up on the news, so we'd like to think we know a quality breakfast when we eat it. The Full English Breakfast at the Rose & Crown is the best quality we've come across. Warm service from Sarah Jane in comfortable surroundings. Large free car park and open from 07:30 on a Sunday. Ideal for us. We'll be sure to return.

Great food and excellent service. Booked here as was less boujie than the Noss Mayo offerings. Really pleased we did! Excellent seafood platter and the ribs and steak were reportedly lovely too. The waitress was great being very attentive but not over bearing. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

We've always had good food and a nice time at this pub. We ate here last on 20/7/24 when there was an unfortunate combination of staff shortages and all big table bookings arriving at the same time, meaning food took over 2 hours to arrive. However, the staff were all lovely and did their best to still make our evening enjoyable. The manager came round afterwards to apologise and explain what had happened. They gave us the food free of charge due to the wait and the food, as always, was delicious, so I cannot fault the food and customer service here. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

We went for a Sunday lunch when the mum in law was visiting. My beef brisket was dry and tough although the vegetables were very nice. Unfortunately, the plates were brought out with the meat and Yorkshire puddings, but the veg didn't come out for another 5 minutes, so the meat was starting to get a bit cool. We have eaten here in the evening several times, including on my 50th birthday and always enjoyed it, so this occasion was disappointing.

Disappointing Sunday Lunch Today. Chewy & Tough Beef Brisket. Food bought out and veggies followed much later, whilst meat was getting cold. Not up to its usual standard and would not recommend this place for Sunday lunch!

We visited as a family today late afternoon Rosie fest was still going and the whole pub was very busy. We enjoyed a drink outside in a cool shaded area then went inside the restaurant for meal. The food arrived quite quickly and was great. In particular our waiter was Adam and he was very attentive. Good service from a young man who dealt well with our group which included a toddler and a baby.

Just back from spending three nights at the pub had dinner two of the three nights while there. Rooms are very comfortable. If you don't like road noise ask for a room towards the back. Food is great and staff are very friendly. The only reason I gave 4 stars for service is because we waited an hour for food to find it still was not ready so we cancelled it and left this was on a Saturday evening and there needed to be more staff the pub was very busy with a function on.

Went here with a group of 5, I had fish and chips which was excellent abd a large portion, the other had different meals and all said the food was really good and value for money, we were served MALIA who couldn't do enough for us and made our trip very enjoyable.

Greeted by Lisa to organise an event. She was utterly lovely and very accommodating to our needs. We then stayed and had lunch. Lovely food and 5 star service by Jack. Thank you to you all and see you again in a couple of weeks.

We went with friends to celebrate my wife's birthday and had excellent food and attentive service at all times with a birthday candle in one of the deserts and brought to the table singing happy birthday which was a nice touch. Couldn't fault it
