Myself and my partner had tea at the pub. Had a really lovely evening everyone as always was so helpful. Food was lovely and everything was fresh, piping hot and really enjoyable. The salad was clean and fresh, the presentation was good also. Cutlery was spotless, glasses were clean as was everything. The staff work hard and no one was left unserved/waiting around. We sat on the bar side but around the corner where the atmosphere was nice, we were tucked away making it more private whilst we were eating but could still engage whilst people were at the bar. Waited normal time for food service and had just the right amount of time between starters and mains! Food was delicious and served with a smile. Love love love this pub and would recommend for anyone! There is always things to do from live music nights (which are always AMAZING), quizzes during the week, and many more events and things going on. Locals are really friendly and it’s an amazing atmosphere. The staff do their upmost best for everyone and it’s never a boring time. You will never feel “unwelcome” or “out of place” over all lovely pub with hard working people!! To Tina and her team, you’re all doing a fantastic job and should be proud of yourselves!

Arrived at the pub at 1:15pm, when it was extremely quiet and had few customers in. We ordered our food (a few small plates) and we were waiting for around 30/40 minutes before the came out to tell us two of the things we ordered weren’t available and at that point we realised they hadn’t even started to cook our food, despite there only being one other family who ordered before us (they hadn’t got their food either at this point). Shocking service considering how simple the menu is. Also overheard they were missing other items off the menu. For a Saturday lunchtime, it seems ridiculous that there were so many items missing. Won’t be coming back!

It's possibly the worst pun food I've had. While the staff were nice enough, the pub looked tired inside and came across as a drinkers pub for locals. The food was frozen and not cooked well with a lack of presentation. We ate it because we were hungry and passing through. Wouldn't return as it's need of serious improvement. Menu is also basic with items not available. Sorry, it's a one star from us. A family of small children.

Popped in for a quiet drink with my family, toilets were disgusting to say the least, dull and dim too. The lady behind the bar was half asleep and mad us feel as though we shouldn’t have walked through the door. Without so much as a hello as we entered, alongside zero atmosphere.

Went there for a couple of drinks (no food so have put 3 stars as a neutral rating). Overall was very disappointed in the hygiene shown. The young woman behind the bar was vaping. All the wine glasses had lipstick stains on them however the most disappointing experience was seeing the same bartender wipe the head of my pint away with her finger. I would have said something but I was too busy trying to stop the dog sat at the bar from also licking said pint! This was unfortunate as this is a nice small village pub and the only one in the area. It won't stop me from going back but my expectations have sadly been lowered.

Thought we would try a meal here never again to start off I asked for Coke cola but didn’t have any so ended up having Diet Coke instead.Ordered steak ,chips, peas, mushrooms and onion rings , first they gave our meal to someone else then they took it away from the other table and gave it to us. Then no mushrooms so we had tomato which we said no tomato a sauce on the steak which was disgusting put us off eating it also could have been major problems if someone had an allergy to it no onion rings we’re giving was told that they were going to be giving to us soon but never received. All in all we think that this was totally bad they did say that we had free drink for the inconvenience of the sauce but nothing about the onion rings that they didn’t give us then to top off a cat was walking over tables with people eating food. Seriously need some attention.

Having visited the pub many times before over the years I thought it would be a perfect spot for a drink after a walk in the area today. I was surprised to find it closed and so I'm unable to give more than one star because on this occasion there was nothing to rate. Apparently the pub is only open Thursday to Sunday and then closed between 3 and 5 on those days too (except Sunday when it closes at 8!) Such a shame, fortunately there are plenty of other options not too far away that were open.

What a shame , the pool table in the most cosy little spot for a meal . Atmosphere awful, the pool ppl ( 1 drink each in the two hours we were there ) have taken over. Ppl trying to have Sunday lunch put on a c cold table just inside the door. Coat hooks on the door wall , would be good . Then some sort of aesthetic draught stoploe wall , the book shelf greatly reduced maybe ( ,in it's current position just a costly addition, cutting out light Lovely area currently full of sofas !!!!circular table by the unfortunately open window. The pub was too cold for sitting . Wood burners not lit , silly it adds so much ,does not have to be roaring just kept glowing with soft heat. Pool table ??? Why: I see the bistro has taken a he tables space but the noise and atmosphere generated by it was awful . Sadly the toilets filthy too. 😳 Bar stank of cheap pine disinfectant : Taints the beer and foot . 3 lovely teenagers behind the bar ,really working hard. So sad the last time we came it was fabulous . Now filthy tatty ,and trying to be too much . Sort the lovely bar area , get rid of the little table by 5 ,take the plastic fl0wers off the menu board , please make it the pub I had spent ages wanting to come back too .this is written without bias or intent just great sadness.

Had brie for starter, nice, but only one uncooked bread roll, then waited 49 minutes for our main. Sirlion good, mixed grill was let down by very cheap cuts of meat. The steak was full of grissel, hard to cut and chew, eventually gave up! I informed our nice waitress, but she didnt seem to have any powers apart from saying sorry as if it was her fault. Obviously, chef needs some humble pie. I would say this was a more neighborly pub, than public. There should also be a warning to less cat loving dogs. Thank god we didnt bring our terriors.

We visited for Sunday lunch en route home from Plymouth. It’s a lovely little community-run village pub on the edge of Dartmoor, but not far off the A38. We went on a Sunday so the menu was limited to a variety of Sunday roasts (including 2 vegetarian options) It was quite busy & service was quite slow, but the atmosphere in the pub is lovely, so we just relaxed and chatted whilst waiting for our food. It was definitely worth the wait - a generous portion & the food was delicious. I can’t comment on the normal menu, but if the Sunday lunch is anything to go by, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Staff were friendly as was the dog . Coffee was good but awful cups to drink out of also went cold in these cups quickly as a very large surface area. Roast ….we’ll potato’s what there was ,tasted a bit funky can’t put my fingers on it , I thought when it was served I had got the child’s / OAP portion . But no. My partner had 3 mange tout and about a heaped tablespoon full of swede. 3 potatoes and a bit of cauliflower cheese one floret. All the roasts we swimming in gravy fine by me but my partner and her father not so impressed. Yorkshire pudding was under cooked as tasted like pancake mix. Dessert I had sticky toffee pudding and they we’re unsure if they had custard for it or not I said if not ice cream . My partner and her dad ordered crumble and ice cream . I thought the sticky toffee pudding was nice but then realised after I poured the custard over it that the hot sticky toffee pudding now had cold custard on it . Really cold custard on a hot dessert ? Then my partner and her father found that thee crumble hadn’t been cooked. It had just had crumble mix scattered over a filling .!After a chat with my partner they removed the dessert from the bill. To summarise Nice people but something was a bit off. Service was attentive but the staff seemed unsure of everything. Like they were all very new. Also on arrival they couldn’t find the booking which would have been an issue if they had been fully booked. I proceeded to go home for something to eat . Draw your own conclusions to this. In response to owner. If I had said everything that was wrong I would have made a very poor meal experience a traumatic meal for my other diners and your staff so therefore I felt not making a scene in establishment and pointing it out to you on Google which is a review site after all would give you reflection to improve not to berate your guests for not complaining enough trying to make it my failure not yours . Except the criticism and improve that is what the platform is for. I would have ordinarily paid the money and said nothing and written a review you are lucky my partner mentioned the dessert as I feel that if you tried to do something about it there and then it’s bribery. Own the criticism and improve your standards.

The food is good. Can definitely recommend the fish & chips, beef burger & lasagne. The toilets are clean… always important.

It's a shame about the quality of the carvery as the service, friendly staff and atmosphere was good. I found my turkey warm, not hot & my wife struggled with eating her beef. It looked good, but she struggled to cut it & chew it. The sprouts didn't look good & the potatoes were ok. I'd certainly go back for a drink, but I'm not sure I would eat there again.

The nursery looks lovely. This review is for the tea room. I have never left a bad review before but one of the staff members here was so unfriendly and unwelcoming that I felt compelled to do so. We would not return for this reason.

Nice people but sadly totally sold to the cashless agenda! No sign to tell you no cash accepted by the way so I ordered a herbal tea and some fish She made the tea and then did the transaction, I took my cash out and she said sorry no cash only card So I told her I was very disappointed to hear they promote digital only currency and how this can make you a slave of the system and removes freedom of choice and freedom in itself She said sorry we have no bank branches nearby and it’s difficult to get cash RUBBISH excuse, I know it’s not ‘that’ difficult if you only care and by giving up cash you will in future make it even more difficult cant you see you are feeding the beast by backing down??? I asked for a refund on the fish and told her I do not support any business which does not accept cash Left the tea on the counter but did not ask for a refund on that as she could not reuse it (I have morals and id like to pay for what I was given) but did not even touch it as I just could stay there one minute longer knowing they are contributing to the extinction of freedom! 25/11/24: thank you for your reply. The young lady at the till said 'sorry its card only', she did not offer any alternative to card payment even when I expressed my dissatisfaction. I also had the exact change as I know it can be difficult to have lots of change in the till. Yes she did offer to bake the fish rather than fry it in batter but she did not have to cook this as I retracted the order once I heard you only accept cards. I am sorry but I disagree when you say I should moan to the banks (which I already do in many ways), when businesses give in to them making it harder you make it easier for them to clamp down on their agenda of becoming totally cashless. Stand your ground, but maybe your ground is different from the one I'm standing on. Despite how good your business may be I am sorry but I cannot back up a business which tells me 'cards only' and I know there are many others who feel as I do (as I am sure many that feel as you do)
