Took my sales team here for lunch, 10 of us in total. The food is incredible and you certainly won’t go hungry. Everyone at the pub is friendly and can’t do enough for you. Feels like a good old fashioned boozer set in an amazing position on the Wye. Everyone only had good things to say about the place. Steak is a specialty here. No hesitation in recommending the Rose and Crown. Thanks all who looked after us that day.

Lovely setting and very friendly. I has sausage egg and chips. It was ok but the sausages were cheap and in my view poor quality which was disappointing for £16.99. Nice beer though.

Stayed in Tintern for our little post anniversary getaway and walked past this a few times, so thought we’d try it for our evening meal. Great portion sizes, proper tasty pub food and lovely ambience. Service was impeccable and the staff were really, really friendly. Shame it’s not open again before we go home.

Sunday lunch. Portions were vast. Even the child's portions were too much for 3 elderly adults. The food was okay. The roast meat was freshly carved and well cooked. There were a good variety of vegetables. The issue was that it was served with everything on the plate when it came to the table. Our group of 4 all felt that the gravy should have been served separately. The plates were swamped with thick gravy. We felt that if the veg and gravy had been served so that we could have helped ourselves we'd have enjoyed our meal more. The deserts were great! We wouldn't rush back for Sunday lunch.

We stayed in the beautiful village of Tintern. There are 5 places to eat here. I am allergic to garlic and rang ahead to find out about the menu. The people on the phone were really helpful and couldn’t be any more receptive. This is a typical village pub with a small menu serving pub classics, but what they do serve is of great quality. They also have a specials board with about 6 dishes on. It only opens Thursday to Sunday which is a shame as we would’ve eaten there on more nights. We ate there twice in the week. It is perfectly located and has outside seating over looking the River Wye. The rib eye steak was amazing. Super tasty and perfectly cooked (medium rare). It was the best steak I’ve tasted. My husband enjoyed the wild boar burger and my girls enjoyed the steak pie and the burger. The desserts were huge. My husband enjoyed the beers on hand pull and the service was super. It’s a shame it’s not our local pub.

My fiancee and I were staying in Tintern overnight and settled on the Rose and Crown for dinner. Its not often I visit somewhere that gets every element of service absolutely right but here you had everything you wanted from a pub and more. From the start, we were immaculately looked after by two young ladies whose service was impeccable. The food was plentiful, tasty and hit the spot. The pub itself was a traditional country village inn set on the bank of the River Wye looking over at England on the opposite side. The bill for such a hearty meal including drinks came to £60 so also good value. I also enjoyed listening to the excellent banter between the landlord, his staff and the locals. Never rude or distasteful...just hilarious. I wholeheartedly recommend the R&C for anyone passing through or staying in Tintern. Its a big yes from me.

We came here for Sunday lunch and would highly recommend you do it too. We were offered a choice of meats and couldn't decide so they gave us all of them with an array of vegetables and potatoes. It was without doubt the best roast dinner I have had out and I have had a few. Also come here for just a drink particularly in the late evening where you will see if your alert, all sorts of wildlife as you enjoy one of the well kept ales sat by the river.Enjoy. Shame it was shut a few days in the early week but if we don't support our boozers they will all close.

Following research of the menu and prices on line, we booked the Rose and Crown for a family lunch. We were seated in the games room which was fine, it is a very old building which was cold inside on a beautiful sunny day. Service was good, as was the food which was tasty and plentiful. Our only complaint was that the prices on the day were far greater than those displayed on line, which was one of the reasons for choosing the Rose and Crown.

This pub had excellent reviews, I wasn't convinced by first impressions, but I thought I should give it a go. The service was very good, could not fault that, but at times, I did feel very conscious that I wasn't a local. The food was tasty, but nothing special. There was a terrible choice of wine and what they did have was cheap and not overly drinkable, however they do offer nice local ales. Overall it was fine, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to return.
