Didn't eat but drinks in the outdoor bit are awesome

Awful food, bad service, would not return

We're quite local and this place has become our new place to meet up. It has a good selection of beers and you can watch the sports on big sofas from the multiple screens in the lovely pub garden. Not only that, the landlord James is an absolute gem. He's always down for a chat and we've not a bad thing to say about him. We're happy we have found this place and we're always eager to return.

We just love listening to their nightclub volume sound system over 100 yards away through double glazing. So great.

Gem of a pub and great to have as a local. All the staff are amazing and friendly and has a very chilled atmosphere. Also very happy to pop the football on mid-mid week! Lovely selection of alcohol and great open mic nights!

Under new management and it's a very nice little boozer now. They have started doing roasts too, so I'll be in for that soon!

We received a warm welcome, some good pints, amazing food, and even plastic takeaway cups when we had to leave. Very happy.

Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere

Lived behind the rope walk for almost three years and always thought it looked like a nice place to have a drink, as its usually very quiet. Three of us walked over at around 10 for a pint and rang the doorbell, with no answer. The sign said open till 12:30. Tapped the window because we thought the bartender hadn't seen us, and she crossed her neck like we were recieving some kind of sentence! Seemed really unkind. Spoke to some of the patrons on the way out and told them it looks like we aren't good enough to come in! I understand why it's so quiet now! Welcomed in the White Hart with open arms! Obviously, haha. Won't bother to come again if this sort of profiling is used as a means to select patrons!

Perfect pint of Guinness as always. Not many pubs serve it at all or properly. I always find the staff very friendly. Dog friendly with nice crisp selection.

Rope Walk is local to us and we love taking people to visit to boast about our fantastic pub around the corner. Good drink selection, and lovely outside space.

Stopped off on the way to our train from Temple Meads for a quick drink in this lovely quirky pub which was preparing for a private Halloween party 🎃 Delicious Hobgoblin, Shiraz and Kraken. Lovely friendly service from the wonderful Maya, looking great on Halloween makeup Recommended

The landlady is a very good kind person, staff are very friendly, food is lovely. They also have art club's and other things going on for groups of people, very friendly place 😇🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🐕

Tasty roast for a reasonable price! Vegan option was fab and not the usual boring nut roast. Cool vibe and music, reasonably priced beer too

Had some beautiful tapas with the family. Was really low cost so we weren't expecting much but it was top draw! Great value 👏

The atmosphere here is always really friendly and the bar staff are great. Drinks are always good and reasonably priced for the area. Live music and comedy is a great addition (and the very mixed quality is endearing). Nice outdoor covered space too.

Love this pub. If you are visiting Bristol for the first time and want to sample good food great music & visit an urban art space with the family this is the venue for you, A great sized pub with 2 great sized function rooms inside & an L shaped huge outdoor area with tasty BBQ in the summer months serving a delicious selection of Caribbean food. Pet friendly child friendly in the day take in some amazing local art work on the outside walls to the gallery walls inside. The landlady is the most loving caring person I know will always give you a warm welcome and a hug before you leave unless you step out of line then the lioness comes out & before you can say buy your gone. & that is why this pub is very popular is like one big family & everyone is invited. The home cooked food & Sunday roasts are a must try. The staff are equally as loving and friendly & always professional when you need that cold drink after a long hot day. Toilets are always clean & the pub has everyone safely covered during this pandemic. Can't big this pub up enough go visit find out for yourselves. d;-)

Wonderful pub inside and out. Relaxed atmosphere and amazing themed food for all tastes and caters for Vegans 🙌. Met 2 lovely birds here, hand accidentally took one to my workplace Windmill hill city farm to live oops! The other one is the land lady Anne, she still lives at the pub as far as I know 🤷‍♀️ 😂

Whenever I am in Bristol this is my local. Friendly staff, well kept ale, and beautiful food. The toilets are clean and tidy, and everything is spotless throughout. The art is world class. Small exhibitions sit alongside some of the biggest names in urban art. Look out for the mini stencil sprays And the massive graffiti walls. If you are in Bristol to see art, this is a must.

Pleasant pub on Bedminster Parade. Pretty much deserted on a Sunday afternoon when I visited. They have spread into the back patio, where the graffiti artists have created some spectacular paintings Order at the bar, friendly lady brings your drinks over along with a card machine to take payment. Very civilised

Good beer and good food. It's always a pleasure to call in and even more so when there's good food on offer to surprise you. We thoroughly enjoyed a some jerk dishes and the jerk chicken was really lovely.

Fantastic hospitality tonight. Landlady & staff super chilled and warm & friendly at the same time! Cellar first class and the best Proper Job I've ever tasted, chuck in free foodie delights and an encounter with resident crow (yes really!) Toby, plus a great crowd of regulars and this has to be up there with the best pubs in the entire country!

Amazing roast at rope walk. Such great value for money - perfectly cooked roast spuds, all the trimmings and cauli cheese included in the price which is always a real winner! The nut roast was so darn tasty. And the whole vibe is just generally lovely. Such frienly staff and the cgef was a total babe. Highly recommend!

Bit basic burgers for the price but the place is nice and the staff is very friendly.

Pleasant, but cask beer selection is uninspiring

A really excellent venue for a large party! Upstairs is a large private room and bar. They have a stage and p.a plus sound desk and put a small gig on. Brilliant staff who did everything to help. The pub food is excellent and we'll definitely go again. Check it out, it's one of the best bars in central Bristol....

Unfortunately after being a patron & throughly enjoying their open mic night for many months, I wandered in this evening and made a beeline to the facilities. As I was literally closing the door to the cubicle, I was accosted by a woman who had followed me into the bathroom(!) and told me I simply must leave if I was not a customer. This caught me off guard and I left immediately but felt compelled to leave a review, I won't be returning and will be warding off any friends from making a future visit.

Música too loud for a pub ... Comedy night was great, presenter got to personal with the audience for my liking but in the whole very enjoyable experience. Thanks Rope Walk.

Great roast dinner and really friendly staff

We had a work reunion here yesterday, Saturday 19th October 2019 from midday. About 50 people came and we had a fantastic day. Annie and her staff were fantastic - service was excellent and the food delicious. Thank you for having us! 😍

So tonights events began with a huge warm welcome of a flight of narrow stairs to hurdle to get up to there comedy evening that was being held. I seen this advertised through Facebook thought fab free night of comedy spend a few drinks on shandy as we're the other side of Bristol. We'll let me say seen them stairs achieved the hurdle to be on borderine of discrimination of being disabled why I'm 5min late upon arrival of the stairs dilemma. I felt very uncomfortable but excepted the humour and tried my best to join in on the banter. before half time arrived we made our way downstairs to grab a final drink knowing I couldn't make them stairs again seen the manageress sat at the quiet deserted bar downstairs asked her why they couldn't have the comedians downstairs her reply was it doesn't work I explained to her my difficultys of stairs and that I'd love to return to this event if it's held downstairs was for her answer no that's not happening.... Wow I'm shocked surely banter and laughter downstairs would surely attract outside passers by. And wow shame on u as a pub to discriminate disabilities.... And to hope and think u can get some food delicacy for a event thats purposely been put on to pull In punters to boosts there cost well there's crisps to wash down your unfortunate evening shall not be returning there your loss...

Nice local pub which has regular live music events. It's also involved with Upfest and has some great art work in and outside of the pub in the garden.

Have been going here since it was taken over by the landlady Annie. And i love it! Has fantastic entertainment most nights. Amazing open mic and live bands. Also some amazing art work both inside the pub and out. The food is really good, the best pie I have had In a long time! All home made on the premises. Has a lovely feel to the place especially on the evening with the candles etc. The staff are friendly and Annie is great. Highly recommend a visit to this lovely little pub.

Traditional pub with character, unfortunately the beer tasted off for me and a friend, could do with a proper pipe clean perhaps.

This place has improved hugely since it was first revamped. The bar now has a much better selection of drinks and the staff are much friendlier. The open mic night was really good, with some very talented folks playing. I'll be going here more often now that it's been improved!

Dropped in on spec for Sunday lunch. Inquired at the bar about food choices, learned that it was a selection of meats from the Bar-b-Que; "large" or "small" larger allows for a wider selection. Happily I opted for the smaller plate and took our tickets to Anne who was tending the hot plates, she kindly explained the options a I asked for two steaks with salads please. We took a table in the sunshine out the back, good choice of real ales and pleasant music in the background. Emma delivered our food which I have to say, looked, smelt and tasted delicious! For a small choice the steaks were generous, filling the plates accompanied with a colourful selection of cooked vegetables. This was more than I'd imagined was possible! A truly pleasant surprise and it has to be said the steaks were perfectly prepared, really tasty. Very many thanks to both Emma and Anne who made us most welcome and waited upon us with friendly professionalism that in itself was a treat. A good pub with a relaxed atmosphere and great service from the bar to the table and back again. Truly appreciated, you made my day!

Barmaid was friendly, grub was tasty too

This is a great great pub. Wrong end of Bedminster for some but give it a go. Really trying to be a proper local community pub with loads going on. Limited menu but what they do serve is homemade and tasty. We need more pubs like this and less generic menu overpriced shiteholes. ❤ ropewalk❤👍

We usually come to the rope walk every Wednesday or Thursday on the way home after playing squash in town (for the last year or so). Usually no issues however wont bother returning after last night. Got to the pub around 7.30ish, got a bottle of red wine, sat down with my friend at a table for 2 round the corner, bar lady comes over after around 15 minutes and asks us to move (empty pub)as they are expecting a big group later- no issue for us, we move to another table by the bar. Another 20 minutes or so later a church choir starts singing-, me and my friend are having an in-depth conversation about The Rock with Sean Connery (great film by the way), the bar lady comes over and essentially tells us to shut up. We weren't drunk, weren't speaking loudly, were on the other side of the pub to the people singing and last time I checked this was a pub not a church. I'm all for local events and bringing the community together ...but maybe put a sign up saying "no talking this evening"....this isn't a comment about the choir or their singing but just didn't appreciate the way we were spoken to. I'm sure in hard times the choir will get in enough communion wine to support this pub while we continue down to North Street - where all pubs allow you to speak.

Really lovely. I felt very welcome and the beer was great. I haven't been here for a few months but when I visit the area I like to pop in. I like the 'outside' inside smoking area, very cosy. Games to play and decorated nicely.

We hired the function room (and space downstairs) for corporate meetings. Really friendly team, fantastic homemade food, good location. Highly recommended.

Cool place nice atmosphere, classic old school pub

A really cool place with good vibes, ambient atmosphere, wooden interiors and graffiti walls in the beer garden.Very friendly helpful staff. Nice sounds and live entertainment. Ales are priced fairly and the Sunday roast is tender, juicy with well-cooked veggies. Vegan options are available. Visiting again this evening!

I don’t want to waste too much time on this review because the food was so shocking, so to keep it brief; Raw roast potatoes Vegetables like baby food Cheap ready mix gravy Raw Yorkshire puddings Advertised belly pork but clearly a different cut I could mash up my entire roast dinner with the back of my fork! Ended up sending all the food back and getting a refund! AVOID the roast!!!!!

This is a fantastic place with so much going on, from open mic nights and music gigs, to poetry and comedy nights, and so much more. The food and drinks are great, and you couldn’t ask for more friendly management and staff. I’d recommend this bar to anyone, and very often do. They are a credit to Bristol and am looking forward to seeing them grow in the future. 🌟

Lovely Pub lovely atmosphere and one hell of a Landlady the food is Gurt Lush and the artwork on display changes all the time. If you wana party get down to one of their music night if you wana sit down and read the daytime is perfect and dont forget their Sunday lunches.... Its a proper place we love's it.

After hearing friends talk about Ropewalk on FB I had to make to trip to visit while in London. As fans of street art and great food (I'm not a drinker) my wife and I loved the place. I live in the West Village NYC and I'm not easily impressed. Ropewalk is awesome, entertaining and fun. Loved it.

The Ropewalk is by far one of the best pubs i've ever been in, awesome food, great atmosphere, very friendly staff. i will be returning very soon !!
