Staff stood around chatting the whole time we were there with not one table cleared and wiped down

Have been to lots of Coffee#1 but this is the best by far. Somehow the others have terribly slow service but this one, with the same level of staffing, just does it better. Whenever I walk from Temple Meads or Portwall Lane I call in here. Try the giant tea cake too!

Unfriendly staff. Girl with blue hair is rude. Don’t check their app to confirm click and collect orders, or when they’re ready to be picked up. Coffee often burnt. And when paying for a large it’s just extra milk not coffee.

Nice spot to pop into for a hot drink. The cakes are decent too.

Very poor service. 2 members of staff behind the counter this morning. Neither acknowledged me, they were fulfilling the only other order on the go while just chatting without even looking up. Then to make matters worse one of them wiped her nose with her hand. No sign of any handwashing before I was served. Service was not delivered by either a good morning or a smile.

I went to this coffee shop yesterday afternoon for my first time and I discovered a very good quality coffee. Unfortunately everything was screwed up by a super annoying noise made by one of the members of the staff who was arranging cups, cutlery etc, in a very bad and clumsy way. Plus, an alarm started ringing from the elevator in front of the door. So, my friend and I had to leave because it wasn't pleasant talking.

Ordered on Uber eats and they sent me half a cup of warm something instead of the cappuccino I ordered. This is not a cappuccino and half of it is missing!! This cost me £4.90 and they’re refusing refund. Atrocious

I come here most Saturday mornings and I'm never disappointed coffee ☕ is always great as are the teacakes 🙂 lovely friendly staff who are always welcoming.They have a wide selection of cakes pastries etc even porridge made how you like and all very reasonably priced and the thing I like is that if you have cake the portion size is good not like alot of coffee shops where they charge stupid prices for a very small slice of cake. Would definitely recommend this place. I am editing this review because the member of staff on the till today 27/1/24 was very unwelcoming no smile or hello he looked totally miserable he definitely needs to work on his customer skills coffee today was not good today it tasted very bitter ordered porridge and the portion size has definitely gone down but no surprise that the price has gone up

I was just in the queue to order and the coffee maker just sneezed into her arm, left a huge blob of sneeze on it after the string of goo finally separated, carried on making coffee. After the coffee was made, she wiped her arm with her hand, rubbed it over her t-shirt to wipe it "away" and then carried on making coffee. No thank you!

Great place for a Saturday morning breakfast.

Went here and got a honeycomb latte a few weeks back, and it was very good. The environment was very inviting and relaxing. My only complaint is the price, which isn't rediculous, but is a bit above average.

Very nice coffee bar with a good selection of sandwiches, cakes, coffee, tea and other drinks. Comfortable seating both inside and outside.

Super freundliches Personal und gemütliche Sitzgelegenheiten. Hatte einen großen Cappuccino, einen Smoothie und einen Wrap. Alles richtig lecker und preislich top! Kann dieses Café sehr empfehlen.

A good company and one of their tops local, professional but down to earth in the community caring Coffee lounge here in nice corner in the quiet side of the Centre here toeards St Mary Redcliffe. That's what I think anyway. Happy customer of theirs and look out their places along with Caffè Nero the same, when travel around. Can count on them very well as a general major rule. 5 stars indeed. Great team work here, serving patiently and kindly amd strongly with respect given well. Hope they can keep it up, and enjoy their work giving so many folk some nice refreshment, rest, and places for amicable and thinking good and enjoyable converse and more. Quiet corners for study often too can be found.

Perfect large coffee shop with toasties, baked goods and drinks

Whether getting a drink to go or bringing friends/colleagues to sit and chat, this café and the staff have always been so welcoming over many years. The quality of the drinks is almost always better than the larger chains, and the seating area definitely has a calming feel about it.

I have eaten here on a few occasions with my work colleagues for lunch. I've nothing bad to say about it - the food and drink are really good, service is good, atmosphere is decent. The paninis, in particular, are always really good.

Went in yesterday afternoon ish. Cosy atmosphere, quite quiet. Girl with short brown hair made the best flat white I’ve had in Bristol - very artistic! Didn’t have any of the food but looked delicious. Keep up the good work! 😄

We decided to have our coffee here two mornings in a row because the atmosphere is so inviting. The only complaint I have is that the lines moved slowly because there were only two people working. I had a simple black coffee that was delicious, and the Portuguese pasteis de nata was fantastic. They also have books available for you to read.

No greeting from staff member - just a bored glare. Unfortunately they seem to have stopped doing filter coffee. A black Americano was virtually undrinkable. It’s probably better drowned with milk but good black coffee should be a given, especially in an establishment called Coffee #1. Seemed little point in complaining to aforementioned bored staff member. Dirty toilets - the whole place needs some tic. Used to be a regular but won’t be back.

Great coffee with super cool staff.

Came here with my family and accidentally spilt 3 coffees absolutely everywhere. The staff were incredibly easy going and friendly about it, cleaned it up quickly and even made new coffee on the house! Toasties were delicious too!

Great coffee (choice of House or STRONG!) and suitably squidgy cake ,in a relaxing and quirky ambience. Like others posting here, I found there does seems to be a bit or roulette as to the commitment of staff. Fortunately for me the 'poor' one ignored me long enough for the 'good' one to take my order. Hopefully the cream (or is should that be the frothy milk) will rise to the top.

Best coffee house I've visited. Quirky with a literary theme. If I was going to run a coffee shop, this would be my inspiration.

Good Coffee but the customer service seems very grumpy at times which is a shame. It’s almost like they are confused or angry when people ask for coffee.

Awful experience this morning, I’m a regular here and this morning their contactless wasn’t working which is totally fair enough. However they let the woman before me pay later as she’s a regular, but wouldn’t let me do the same, despite coming in every day. They then told me to download an app which said I needed a card for (didn’t have on me, hence paying contactless) , then I told them this and they shrugged as if to say it wasn’t there problem. Please in future just tell customers in advance that contactless isn’t working instead of letting them wait in a queue for 15 minutes. Such a shame as I live next door and I’m here every morning but the past few times the experience has been sub par. Luckily spicer and Cole is 1 min away, your served quickly there and it’s cheaper!

Me and my mum are both regulars to coffee #1, with welshback being a coffee stop for our Sunday dog walks quite regularly (once every week or two). The drinks are great however we had a less than impressive experience this morning due to the service provided by the server with purple hair - I’m not entirely sure of their name. Ordered drinks all fine but then when we picked up a paper cup for our dog, we were told “not to snatch and to ask if we wanted one” when asked why we were told “it’s so people don’t breath on them”. I’d understand if we had reached over to grab something that wasn’t for us to take, but they were at the front of the counter at arms length, alongside the pot of straws that were told to “help ourselves to” by another server. If we had been spoken to correctly we would have been full of apologies for the oversight but in this instance it was just embarrassing and we were almost made to feel like criminals for taking a paper cup. The server spoke to us smiling through gritted teeth, sarcasm fully intended with an eye roll thrown in for good measure. Perhaps if you had them better placed out of the way of customers, people would have better understanding of the rules. Especially when these rules are so crossed over and we’re told to “help ourselves” to some items but not to others. Or at least some signage perhaps?! And just in regards to the customer service - please try to be kind. People are allowed to have bad days, but this doesn’t have to result in passing your bad days on to others. Everyone’s fighting battles and your two minute interaction could make or break another persons day. Thanks

I love the comfy chairs here. The drinks are also delicious. Just a great place to hang out or read with a coffee. Also not a bad place to bring a laptop if you can find a socket.

Great places for a coffee and doing a little work.

Just called in for a coffee. Card machine took payment and said ‘approved’. The person serving said ‘sorry that’s not gone through’. So I tried again. ‘Approved’ again. I was assured that I would only get charged once, in a really patronising way, and advised to check my bank statement if I was worried. Checking my online banking app, I was charged twice. Showing this to the person serving just resulted in an eye-roll and a shrug. Worst customer service ever - I was made to feel it was my fault. Coffee was fine, but I won’t be coming again.

Great coffee etc.and service.I love Coffee 1. Your sofas and seats need some tlc. as the leather is detiorating. I know its expensive but you need to get them recovered at the very least. Not pleasant having black bits sticking on your sunscreen lol. Love you guys.x

Perhaps the worse Coffee place in Bristol, slow service, unfriendly staff and with all fairness the place looks like a cheap copy of Cafe Nero.

Was left waiting nearly quarter of an hour for a drink whilst many coming after me were served. Try serving the people who have before taking on more.

Amazing hot chocolate and moca. Best of all coffee shops in the area. The coffee taste is amazing plus the chocolate create probably the best combination that you could order. Moreover you have very nice views and also a terrace for the sunny days. The personell is very effective and nice and there are sofas as well as books that you could use and spend the whole afternoon or morning here enjoying the coffee and silence. Also the frappes are a great option for the summer coming, refreshing and tasty. Highly recommended.

My go-to coffee shop in Bristol and Somerset in general. Coffee#1 offers a great value for money in a cosy environment ideal for dates or just a catch up with friends. This Coffee#1 specifically has an amazing location because it is very close to Queen’s Square in Bristol and temple meads. I cannot count how many times i came her for a mocca or a hot chocolate and the service was always outstanding. I am surprised that there is no Coffee#1 in London yet. This chain is well ahead of Costa and Nero in terms of quality and customer service.

Spotted this place while walking past and decided to drop in. Great spot for a light breakfast and good coffee. Clean with a pleasant ambience and nice staff.

Its a Coffee #1 so the experience is pretty similar to others I have been to. However this shop was full of students doing course work so getting a table was more difficult than usual. This coffee shop is on the way from Bristol Temple Meads railway station to the city centre so worth a visit to grab a coffee before hitting the city.

Coffee#1 has a reputation as the best coffee shop chain - and now I see why! It has the selection and quality of a boutique cafe with the speed and seating space of a big chain. Will be getting coffee#1 again
