We popped in to The Roebuck Inn for dinner prior to heading down to watch Forest lose in the League Cup. This seems a much higher class of Wetherspoons, which I am aware sounds like a contradiction in terms, due in no small part to the building (a beautiful 18th Century Grade II listed building) and the calibre of customer. This being Wetherspoons, they have still managed to locate the toilets 14 miles away from the main bar area, but there is also seating on the upper level (including outside area) nearer to the toilets. I had fish & chips here and, whilst it wasn't superb, it wasn't bad either. It was relatively nondescript, which is why I'm having such a hard time.writing about it. It was pretty much what I'd expect from a Wetherspoons. My Mum had a small pizza and she was happy enough with this. Of all the Wetherspoons across the country, this is a pretty decent example.

Painfully slow waiting times, upwards of 30 minutes for a rum and coke.

Shocking attitude from the staff especially one young lady. No people skills whatsoever

Visited this Wetherspoons for a quick and budget-friendly meal. The atmosphere was casual and the staff were friendly. However, the food quickly went cold and the coffee machine stopped working halfway through use. It's a classic case of getting what you pay for. Good for a cheap bite, but don't expect top quality.

Had a lovely breakfast and coffee with a friend, being a Witherspoon everything was reasonable, lovely place. There are steps to enter and the toilets are on the 2nd floor don't know if there is a lift or if they have a ramp that can be used. Would recommend.

The better of the 3 wetherspoons in Notts city centre.

Great place for a cheap pint. Very busy but the prices here cant be beat in town. Looking at under 3 quid for a pint. The atmosphere and lack of seating stop this place from being perfect pregame place. I didnt eat but the food looked ok on other peoples plates

We visited the Roebuck on St James Street Nottingham around 11:40 on 25/5/24 for some lunch with a friend. We both ordered Buger & Chips.When Ithe food came I was astonished at the presentation. The burger was tepid and there were 14 chips !!!!. My friends food was exactly the. There was no finesse or pride in the presentation and to say I was disappointed was an understatement. I rarely go into town but next time I go I will DEFINITELY give the Roebuck a miss.Rubbish

Bestest weatherspoons in town! For a good meal at good price! Food comes out HOT and fast, staff are great at their job dont take long to get served and usually a good amount of people in ( customers ) would highly reccomend this pub.

Honestly the worst JD Wetherspoons in Nottingham. Extremely rude and lazy staff who do not care to put any kindness or effort into their jobs. There is one man who wears AirPods and a headset who thinks he is the King of England the way he act towards honest customers. My genuine opinion is to go to any Wetherspoons other than this including the Joseph Else or the Goosebury Bush

Always a relaxing venue for a meal

Burger and chips tasted off and strawberry daiquiri just tasted of lime; it was very sour which overpowered any other flavour it was supposed to have. You couldn’t even taste any rum or strawberry. So disappointing.

Kicked our friend out for having an international ID, even though it’s government issued. Didn’t explain why either just kept saying it was ‘company policy’ i beg to differ.

Spoons is a spoons we all love a spoons. Cheap pints and frozen food heated up but we love a spoons

No dogs allowed, it's not on the website, you only find out when you're standing in front of the shop. Really bad, after all there is a 'children allowed' option in the app, why not provide information in good time?!

I hesitated for the rating because the food was pretty good. I went there for brunch and as far as English breakfasts go, this was very decent. Actually the black pudding was delicious, as were the hash browns. The toasts were a little dry and the egg was a bit over cooked for my taste but it was honestly good and satisfying. Definitely fulfilled its purpose as a brunch for someone who was very hungry! It’s also quite nice inside, chilled and cosy. I didn’t interact with the staff much so I cannot say how friendly the place is. Overall, it was a nice experience and pretty good value for money.

I got into the pub,at about 5pm . Wait for about 15 - twenty minutes waiting for service ,to be sold a half pint of Stella!! During this time ,I was passed up and down by the two servers,one a manager in an anti iron shirt ! Eventually,he approached and I said. "Finally !" He was not happy and made some negative comments to me. So in response,I pointed out to him that he needs to recognise he is serving the public and needs to iron his clothing ,which on his back ,looked like a wrestling match between himself and the shirt - and this was not the first time !! !!! He responded by suggesting that he will not serve me ,and that I'm banned from the pub ad infinitum!!! I then took a quick look at his badge ,which said :" Manager !!!" To my horror ,he then threatened to call the Police ,to have me removed!!! Yes ...they did come after and hour and a half ,and promptly asked me to lea be the premises ! I suggested to the very mature ,and exceptionally pleasant and rational Duty Manager,that someone needed to tell him that he was inappropriately dress! That even a company provided tea shirt would have been better that an unironed ,very ruffled shirt- an that was about the sixth time I observed that abuse of service to the public !!!!! Yes ,he is easily identifiable ...excessively ruffled shirt ,short and rude ,with a manager's badge !! Oriental . As pleasant as the Duty Manager has been ,I can't understand why he felt the need to defend this rude and disgracefully attired 'Manager'! Had I been dressed like that as a customer ,I am certain I would have been asked to leave!

Need more staff match day. Tables need clearing and cleaning quicker.

Went in your pub today for breakfast with my husband and 2 friends for breakfast was very disappointed as first got 2 of breakfast orders wrong i got poached egg on toast n 2 xtra toasts twice when ordered one one of each food was cold when we brought items that was missed on our orders they were cold also when I went to complain was told should have brought it but I said when items that was missing on our plates mushroom on one and bacon on mine they were cold which is unacceptable was not offered any apology or refund won't be returning again that is for certain I got refund for extra poached egg on toast they brought that was all

Service extremely slow through the app. Waited around 20-25 mins for drinks. No iced water on the app, told to go downstairs and fetch it ourselves. Defeats the point of using the app if and when busy.

Fab breakfast. BRENDAN IS AMAZING best server ever. The has browns were perfect, as was the stowford press. We love brendan.

Food was banging! Quick service, really hot and just lush. Big up to Brendan who was incredible. We will deffo be back soon!

Went in for breakfast whilst waiting for pharmacy to open. Had a very pleasant Mushroom Benedict. Food came fast. Very quiet (Easter Bank Holiday) but clean & friendly.

Any port in a storm. Had to walk through the aroma of weed to get in. You can't pick your clientele.

One of several wetherspoons in Nottingham city centre. You know what you're going to get with 'spoons in terms of excellent service and a variety of good quality ales to choose from. We visited on a busy Saturday evening and struggled to find a seat. I found the layout quite strange, with a long narrow strip of a room with seating, which seemed a bit too squashed in for my personal taste. Apparently there is a roof garden or terrace of some sort, but we didn't venture upstairs. Something to explore next time, perhaps.

Nice pub ,cheap drinks and the pizza we had was really nice .

The majority of the tables needed clearing of plates, cups and glasses, so we moved some onto another table so we could sit down at a clear table. It was particularly busy when we visited but it was obvious they were short staffed We ordered food and drinks through the app, these took a little longer than estimated times given but this wasn't a problem. There wasn't any condiments available as they were all empty.When the food arrived it wasn't brilliant but it was ok.

I come here every time I in Nottingham as the food, the service and the drinks are superb. It can get full quite quickly so to dine in come really early specially on a Saturday when it's a match day. Most go to pub in Nottingham.

got kicked out of this place because my ID wasn’t european. no other reason. they asked to see other ID but even after showing supporting documents that wasn’t enough, they wanted my passport, which I definitely didn’t have on me. never had any issues with Spoons before, this place though, seems to have it against immigrants. wouldn’t recommend.

Went to order lunch at the bar at around 2.20pm 27th March 2024. Whilst the staff were fine the duty manager was awful, ignored our group twice at the bar and took personal offence when I asked if we could be served next. He actually got angry and started shouting at us. Aggressive, out of control and with clear anger management issues, his eyes bulged with rage at the drop of a hat. He was wearing a body camera so presumably the entire exchange was recorded for his manager to see. I wonder if he will even be spoken to. Disgraceful behaviour and a shockingly poor experience. Will never be visiting again and intend sharing my experience.

Chloe is the best sever I’ve ever had. Love her. She makes me enjoy Wetherspoons again. Previously I had a funeral here and it made me sad but now I feel great. Chloe did that.

Very disappointed yesterday, we called in for a Gourmet Steak each and both were so tough the meat kept going round and round in the mouth. The medium steak was actually medium rare. Sent both back and the waitress plonked them down on our table and marched off, with no words spoken. Again the medium was medium rare but annoyingly both steaks were tough as old boots once more. Another two couples adjacent to our table were also very unhappy with their steak meals, one couple complained but again their replacement steaks were still tough, the other couple just left the steak on their plates and left. We have always had steaks here for years and have been well satisfied so we were shocked yesterday. Once again, no one asked if our meals were okay and no one apologised so very poor customer service. Our table hadn't been wiped down from the previous customers and I wiped it down myself. The price has increased and costs £23 for two Gourmet Steaks with onion rings etc and at this price you would expect edible steaks and better service.

Great selection of the usual beers and ciders also a changing selection of craft beers and ciders well worth a visit. A large selection of meals well worth eating. And they are still very popular.

If you don't mind waiting half an hour for a pint, then it's ok. Personally I walked out and went elsewhere.

Last night during paddy’s day I saw my friend get hit in the face by the security whilst escorting someone out, now I never leave reviews but i really do think this sort of behaviour needs to be sorted because if it’s happening to my friends, then it’s happening with other people too. After getting hit in the face, her and her boyfriend went to speak with security to ask apology, he completely ignored them so when I went to ask for his name, he refused to respond until he saw that I was reading his security badge. We agreed to talk outside, he then asked his manager to not let me in even though I was still waiting for my first drink at the bar. As a bar tender myself I know how stressful busy days can be but it is simply unacceptable to shove people aggressively for no valid reason. The management need to deal with this accordingly and give proper training to their bouncers, especially ‘Alex’ not to mention others.

Pop in to the Roebuck for pre gig drinks before going round the corner to Rock City. Can sometimes be tricky to get a table, but then you expect that at a Wetherspoons most of the time anyway. Staff are polite and helpful. The food is god enough considering the prices and you'll certainly be happy you went.

First of all, if I could I would give this place zero stars fortunately for this pub i can't. It must be the worst managed wetherspoons in the country. The way these staff conduct themselves is completely outrageous. I was hit in the face by a security guard, received zero apologies or compassion. I was told by the. manager that that he was just doing his job. Another member of staff shouted at my friend after spilling a drink on her which was completely her fault. The same security guard pushed and shoved another person with no provocation. All these actions are unacceptable and i suggest these individuals should undertake some more training as it is clear they don't know how to do their jobs effectively. If i was you, save your money and time and go somewhere else.

This Wetherspoons should be shut down. I witnessed my friend get hit in the face by a security guard when she had not done anything wrong in fact she was trying to help this awful place and take someone out who was too drunk. I don’t know how he was too drunk as it takes around 45 minutes to even be served. Good for him though! Following that, another one of my friends was verbally abused by a member of staff who clearly can’t deal with the stress of the job. As someone who works in hospitality, i suggest this woman may need some mindfulness sessions and learn how to take a deep breath and calm down. This may help her in the future when she has more than one customer to deal with it. There should be some training provided to this spoons on how to speak to customers. The same security decided to push and shove my friend for no reason. Unless you want to leave this place injured and sober, do not go, take my advice.

As a wheelchair user I was not prepared for the dangerous wheelchair ramp that has an extremely high gradient. Once inside the pub there wasn't much wheelchair friendly tables, so we ended up perched at the front doorway. We were having a great evening until one of the staff decided to single us out because of us not being white. We got complaints about noise despite the pub already being noisy. It really spoiled a good night despite the poor accessibility. The day staff were lovely and if it wasn't for them, I would have put in an official complaint. I will not be going back again.

Like the Roebuck but the pm deal food is often poor, especially the portion size. Last time very disappointed.

I'd rate this wether spoons the best out of all of them in the city the atmosphere is good the staff are nice and the food was good breakfast was better than the spoons at Trent bridge ,got a pizza and a chicken jalfrezi over 2 nights was very good couldn't fault it.

First time visit with 3 pals .. door staff very friendly and helpful upon arrival Saturday 13:10 hours .. quick service at bar a bit slower on app lots of great priced beers as you'd expect and decent food quickly delivered .. overall great time had by all will be back .. thank you and good friendly atmosphere aided by diligent and professional staff 😊👍

Five of us for reunion and beer the normal GENEROUS prices and we all enjoyed the Buffalo chicken wings (snack).

We shared a night out in Nottingham with friends this pub was great with plenty of atmosphere. When we return to Nottingham again we shall definitely go back there.

Saturday night was busy, so took a while to get served. As a lone diner, while I was waiting to get served at the Bar, people kept taking my table. Even though I had left a hat and belongings on it. I told the young lady behind the bar (who I think was the Bar Manageress) half expecting her to say "sorry, we are busy, there is nothing I can do". Straight away, she left the bar, searched the pub (which is large but was incredibly busy), found me a table, then posted a waitress to guard that table. She then came back to me at the Bar, took my food and drinks order, I paid, then she directed me to the table (and I must stress all this when they were incredibly busy). When I got to the table the waitress, who was guarding the table, volunteered to fetch me Salt/Pepper/Sauces etc, which you normally collect yourself. I was taken aback by how lovely and accommodating the staff were to a person wanting to have a meal and drink alone. In so many other places as a solo you are disrespected and treated as irrelevant. The staff at THE ROEBUCK INN are incredibly nice, even when stretched and under pressure, and the food was good and the prices are incredibly good value. I would like to thank the lady (Manageress) who's name I didn't get, and all the lovely staff there. I live in Nottingham City Centre, on Fletcher Gate, and there are at least two WETHERSPOONS closer to me, but I only go to THE ROEBUCK INN. 10 out of 10 and I recommend it to everyone.

Went for fish and chips yesterday the chips were not hot enough most tables had plates with food still on did ask a member of staff but they didn't seem interested quite poor service to be honest not be going again.

It's place for nice night out with friends. Good atmosphere. As all the pubs it gets crowded on weekends and the service get slower. Tip : Always try to get the drinks from the counter, it faster than table service

I was refused service at this establishment because I am an American citizen. This is just plain and simple discrimination and bigotry. An establishment that refuses service against a certain nationality no matter what it is, that is discrimination and racism. I beg that wetherspoons does better and repeals this horrendous. Their establishment and people’s wellbeing could be effected by this racist policy. I really hope that people in charge can realize how much people can be affected by racism and xenophobia. Until they change this policy, I will be encouraging people not to go to wetherspoons as to not encourage bigotry and xenophobia. This is absolutely disgusting!

Cheap food and drinks without moving from the table. Cant really complain about anything tbh. And the toilets are probably the cleanest and best in the the city centre. Can't beat a burger and a pint for like 8 quid or something.

Got to feel for the staff, busy pub, minimum staff in, over 40min wait for drinks, we just went to bar in the end, staff so busy, receiving alot of abuse(not from me) we dined here and I appreciate spoons grub is just spoons food but mine was inedible,think the fish was cooked multiple times, struggled to cut the batter, politely just asked for a refund which they were happy to accommodate. Such a shame.

You get exactly what you expect from westherspoons in terms of food quality. The place is a little dark inside, I think this is down to furniture and decor. The food was decent. Fish and Chips 😁 Here is my rating Fish 7/10 Chips 7/10 Peas 8/10

Service was appalling at 3pm in the afternoon despite the place not being half full. Not enough bar staff meant really long wait to be served. And barman had no clue who was next to be served.

Very busy and probably 6 deep at the bar. Busy and staff were struggling with the demand. A couple of friends used the app to order drinks but in the end they had to go find out where the drinks were after a 49 minute wait.

When we walked in, we had to move dirty mugs and plates, as every table was full of dirty pots. It was a while before they were taken away.

Worst mixed grill and beyond burger we have had in a Wetherspoons pub. Meat very grissly. Burger very thin with no salad and very few chips. Had good meals in York, Tewkesbury and in Worcestershire. Wouldn't recommend eating here.

First time I’ve tried this Spoons, very good. They had 3 flat ciders on which is pretty good. I had the Christmas dinner which was very nice.

Decent Wetherspoon’s pub about 15 minutes walk from Nottingham Railway Station. Thirteen cask beers on handpump when I visited including a mild. I had the small traditional breakfast which was pretty good.

Typical Wetherspoons can't rate the food didn't eat there had to wait to be served when it wasn't particularly busy perhaps it was due to staff change over it got busy later on waiting times improved

Food was only warm for a town centre it did not set a good example i know it was only fish and chips had a lot better from other Wetherspoon outlets
