I’m told this place used to be good, an intimate little beach bar. Not anymore, all the negative reviews are very accurate.

We visited by chance on our way past having visited Gwithian beach and were so glad that we did! My wife fell in love with the Lula Kitchen chowder so much that we returned twice more to have it again. (I had a burger each time, also delicious.) It was nice, and unexpected, that they validated parking for us when we ordered. A nice, simple "order at the bar with your table number" system. Staff were friendly even when it was really busy. On one visit we arrived just as the kitchen closed for their break - but the vibe was so good that we had a great time relaxing and playing Scrabble (on the set provided) until it re-opened for evening service. Perfect location right on the beach, food worth coming back for - so we did!

We have been visiting hayle for over 20 years, we have been in before but this time the food was amazing , we had ribs & double dirty fries both dishes were amazing & in our opinion better than our local Tgi’s . We was there Friday & the live band was great but it gets very busy & waiting time does need addressing on very busy nights .

The management has recently been taken over by ‘Lula’, and the service is friendly and personable, the food is good quality, freshly cooked and the coffee is piping hot.

Amazing service they accommodated us without a booking and were just so welcoming as always. Wi the the specials being read out we had the best ribs as always but also tried their surf and turf burger which was phenomenal best place xx

This was a great place to eat after a walk around the local nature reserve. The food was well cooked tasty and nicely presented. I had a burger with sweet potatoe fries and a glass of rose wine. It wasnt ever so busy which was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. would definitely eat there again.

A very mixed experience at The Rockpool. We went here due to having such a great experience at Lula Hayle (before it was forced to close). So on a positive note the location is great, the bar / restaurant is clean and well maintained, Food was OK/ good and live entertainment was excellent. So it's a shame that it was let down by poor service. Our first server was excellent- happy and enthusiastic. Unfortunately her shift finished pretty soon after we were seated and the follow up service was best described as lacklustre and disinterested. Our desert order order took over 40 minutes to arrive - we did get this complementary, however it was a bad ended to a very mixed experience.

Stopped for breakfast and coffee along the SW path hike. We had the best flat whites and pancakes. Lulu the waitress was amazing. Will come back

Promises much but delivered little . Booked a table for 4 and granted we had forgotten it was a bank holiday and half term but sorry non of us will be returning. A shame as we are all local too. The whole restaurant was chaotic and didn’t appear to have enough staff and those that were there couldn’t answer simple queries about the menu. Added to this what an awful menu - so lacking in imagination and don’t get me started on the salted brisket!! On the menu twice . Different prices but according to the waitress the same meal?? I hoped that I had ordered the more expensive option with garlic as I didn’t want ciabatta but that’s what came. I even showed the waitress it on the unclean menu and I thought that’s what she had written down?! Apparently not! My husbands bean chilli was inedible. There wasn’t any salt in the salt grinder. No napkins. Dirty table. Bar behind us covered in dust with cleaning equipment left on top of it( clearly hadn’t been used!) . Sorry definitely not what we like. Dirty, lack lustre, chaotic and noisy

We’ve been visiting the Rockpool a couple of times a year for a good few years. Last September, after the Lula takeover, the experience was great - today more mixed. On the good side, the staff were friendly and helpful and the fish and chips from the specials board was good. But while in September the burger was excellent and clearly homemade, today’s appeared to be from the cash and carry - terrible texture and greasy. What’s more, the Rockpool has always had loads of sauces readily available - these had all disappeared and it turns out they are now charging for a small container. Disappointing.

The restaurant was serving a reduced menu because COVID so there wasn't a huge selection, but the food was delicious. We had four dishes, each was flavourful, a good size, and arrived quickly. The cocktails were ambrosial, and the service on form.The restaurant is currently at reduced capacity, so tables are widely spaced apart. In addition, waiters wore facemasks and disinfected tables between seatings.Book well in advance.

I’ve never written a review before felt it my duty to post a warning. I ordered the special tacos which did not have a listed price but I presumed would be around the £10-£15 range. When ordered The bill showed that prices at £20 - which seemed very expensive but I gave them them benefit of the doubt, expecting something special. What I got was two very average tacos that were clearly not worth the price and more like a starter. I can’t come to any other conclusion that they are taking advantage of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme to ramp up the price. I appreciate business are struggling with Covid but that is why we visited in the first place.

Waited for one and a half hours for our food..went to complain and they said they lost my order...which I had already pre-paid for!! Everyone else got theirs..but coincidentally mine "got lost" after a few more people got theirs and I went to complain..they told me "do you want to wait for your order or not!!" to the extent of them telling me "you can have your money back" unapologetically...now this is close to two hours of waiting!! Don't bother going there if you are black..worst treatment you will ever receive. if there was a negative review I would most certainly give this establishment.

We have been coming here for many years while on holiday.

This is probably the most difficult review I've ever written on here. We ordered the mussels and sat down with our drinks. 45 mins later other people who arrived later had been served and they then discovered the order had been lost. The waitress was very apologetic and very friendly and said the chef would start the order immediately. The manager came over and apologised and said we wouldn't have to pay for the meal and he was friendly and professional. A complimentary white wine arrived for my wife(I wasn't drinking) so at this point we were thinking ..oh well...mistakes happen, the food won't be long. It was the worse plate of mussels I've ever had..no shallots, no garlic, no butter or cream so we were left with a grey salty liquid to dip the stale bread in. Not good. Such a shame.

We went at the beginning of March and it was very cold in the cafe as there didn't appear to be any heating on. The staff were friendly and there was a good atmosphere and quite a few people in for the time of year. I had a BLT which came with crisps and salad. It was a good sandwich. Took a while to come though. Had a good cappuccino too. Nice location by Godrevy beach. It's also dog friendly.

We recently returned to The Rockpool, after a long absence as we had found it overpriced and the service hadn't been great. We hadn't realised it was under new management and what a difference. A really buzzing atmosphere, very friendly front of house and a well priced menu. I ordered the moules, which were very tasty and extremely generous in size. The frites were gorgeous and my partner's burger was great. We later spoke to friends who had also returned to The Rockpool, who highly recommended the haddock fishcakes "out of this world." We understand that the focus of this bar and restaurant, has moved away from mainly relying on the summer holiday makers trade, and turning this into a year round venue for the local community as well. "Proper" live music is already being booked in......we'll certainly be back to support this great local asset.

Warm, good service and very nice food. Tried Halomi Salad and Thai red chickpea curry both very good. A little garnish on the curry would improve it, say fresh coriander.

We got married at the Rockpool in February this year and had an amazing day. All staff could not have been more helpful and considerate and the day ran smoothly from start to finish. The food was fantastic - we had asked for fish and chips as one of our dishes and it was delicious which must have been challenging given the number being catered for. Our guests were very complimentary of the food. The venue itself is lovely with a great view from the ceremony room and as we hired it out we had both the main bar and the back venue room for the day. Friend's and family had an amazing day . The Rockpool were very accommodating to all our needs and requests. We can't praise them highly enough.

Great location, food was ok (crab linguine was nice) but at 12.30 had already run out of one of the specials we wanted (£7) so had to find an alternative (£14.50) - not ideal. Coffee is terrible.

We called in after a blustery beach walk. We wanted a late lunch, arrived at 3.05 and were told the kitchen closed at 3. A little disappointing, but we went for the cake and tea option instead. So glad we did - good tea served in a pot with plenty of additional water, a big slice of lovely home made cake.

Great seafood and dinks available at this resturant right on the beach. Easy parking out of season - you have to pay in season - but its worth it. Have a lovely walk on the beach before having lunch, dinner or a coffee.

Stumbled upon the Rockpool and how lucky we were .... staff very friendly and accommodating, had a light lunch which was “soup erb”! and not to mention a scrummy hot chocolate! Would definitely recommend, thumbs up 👍 and thank you Rockpool ....

Delightful interior design with big booths and two bars. Great for families. We went there for tea, but as all the tables were occupied, we sat at the bar waiting for someone to serve us. We sat there for 10 mins while the three waiters at the bar avoided eye contact with us. I got a cream tea eventually. Thought it was expensive for a cream tea (over £6 I believe?), the scones were massive and overall it was delicious. Though I wouldn't even visit again. It was just for killing time.

Good find, had a cracking breakfast just what was needed after a good early morning walk, friendly nice staff which always helps, carpark was free at this time of year.....cheers and happy new year 🥂

As locals to Godrevy and Gwithian, regularly walking our dog on the beaches, we often popped in to the Rockpol for a swift pint on the way home.

Gave the Rockpool another chance after the last couple of dissapointing visits.

The last Thursday evening before Christmas, turned up for a drink at 16:30 to be told the doors are closing and that we can have a take away beer if we wanted. Being regular local customers through each summer, I cannot fathom how a business with such potential being situated so close to a popular beach, can function like this. The arrogance of the staff to turn away valuable customers wanting a drink during the festive season, suggests to me that they either don't need the money, or they are going to fail just like the previous landlords of this place. Why people cannot make the sandsifter work Is beyond me. Look after your locals!

Drove in and saw cars and never imagined the place was closed so bought a parking ticket THEN discovered the small sign on the door. AND the tickets are only refunded apparently on spends OVER £10 these days. Very annoyed and won’t bother again !

Visited here numerous times for either Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. Living local means we are always going for beach walks and with Gwithian/Godrevy being our favourite beaches, we are regular visitors here, even for just a coffee sometimes!

We went as a family of 4. 3 out of the 4 meals were fine. My sausage sandwich could have been so much more! Small sausage sliced up to make it go further and enormous slices of bread. Sausage rolls liked good but just sold out.

Went in for a coffee and waited 20 minutes, I went to ask where they were and was told they were busy. Apparently they were surprised it was busy over half term and only had 2 staff working. The person I spoke to was very rude. Needless to say I can't tell you what the coffee or food was actually like as we got a refund. Such a shame as it's in a stunning location.

Half term week Two staff serving and two in the kitchen ONLY Place was packed Queued for 20 minutes at bar to even order. Customers were having to clear their tables of previous customer's dirty plates etc No apology Young man behind the bar working under extreme pressure but did well. Manager apparently there but offering no help or explanation.Food took in excess of an hour to arrive.

Visited twice this week and both times food was stunning. Friendly staff and was very welcoming for the dogs. I had fish cakes on second visit and chilli king prawn linguine on first visit. Would definitely recommend those. Good music too. Overall stunning area and amazing food.

Absolutely fabulous place scenery and staff are amazing. Great drinks and reasonable price. Beautiful atmosphere and amazing waitresses and waiters!!

very noisy could do with some background music to absorb sound. we paid for parking after six pm as we were afraid we would be clamped. the meal was fine although tables could be cleared and cleaned a little quicker. we asked if we could claim parking back as we ate there, they said yes just let the barman know when you pay the bill, needless to say when we went to pay he said you do not have to pay for parking after six which we could see know sign of on the board so therefore did not refund our parking. on this basis will not be returning its a con, anyway who makes you pay to eat at their venue they should be glad of custom

Went for lunch with dog in tow, very friendly and welcoming.. seafood burger was tasty, ultimate hot chocolate made my day.. love the chilled out vibe and the music was a nice touch.. would definitely recommend.

Recent (2 years) change of owners and the grub has improved greatly. Still the same welcoming service and a good choice of food and drink.

Unplanned visit to here, was on way to Godrevy Lighthouse and called here for quick bite to eat for lunch. You have to pay to park but can get parking reimbursed on your bill.

Lovely place for dinner after a day on the beach! With views out to sea and seating both indoors and out it is the perfect coastal restaurant. Food tasted delicious and was reasonably priced. Would definitely return when in the area next

We went here twice during our stay in the area, the first time the four of us had the steak ciabatta filling delicious, if a little messy :)

It was the first time we had been to the Rockpool since the new owners had taken over at the start of the year.

We eat here one evening as the rain stopped play on the campsite. Although busy we were accommodated easily. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly helpful staff. The menu was a bit limited but the food was delicious and well presented. Sunset was awesome.

Despite a mix u it was delicious with very accomodating staff. Yummy. Not that busy but genuine concern - these thing happen.

We drove past this place earlier in the year and thought it looked rather intriguing, beautiful location and as both of us like our fish was thought we would give it a go. We only had a light lunch, and shared a crab sandwich and Cajun chicken sandwich, all very fresh and nicely presented. Thought the price wasn't bad and service was friendly. The specials was on the wall inside which we saw when we were leaving as had sat outside, but it all look very good. We will be back!

I went to the Rockpool with my boyfriend and best friend, who is actually a local. It was terribly disappointing. We ordered bread & olives to start, 30 mins later and £6 worse off we were given a plate of the tiniest slices (4) of bread. How can that have taken so long?! When the meals came they were just tasteless. My food came a good 5 minutes after the others due to an obvious mix up. The service was slow and very poor. How they can call themselves a 'seafood' restaurant is beyond me & borders on false advertising; there was barely any seafood on the menu and no specials as they ran out...

Could not be happier, my wife and I both had the seafood burger, which was very tasty.

Friends came down to visit and after a gorgeous day on the beach - showing West Cornwall at its best, they fancied some seafood.

How can you go so wrong with a simple (over priced) sandwich x 2? The waitress might like to look for a job that she enjoys, not with customers I hasten to add. Very disappointed and would not go again (no free parking for the privilege of visiting either)

Have been here a few time, unfortunately it's very hit and miss. Enjoyed a lovely crab sandwich here last year so went back for the same yesterday, very poor and £11. I would describe it as a crab cocktail sandwich, hardly any crab but loads of pink sauce, very disappointed. I won't be going back. Try the NT cafe just behind the rockpool - outstandingly good!

Looks pretty and has a few quirks but we were on the unfortunate end of bad service. Our coffees took ~5 minutes to arrive and the scone at least 30. It seemed like it was forgotten about so we asked twice where it was to be told that the barrista was busy (there were 5 staff on the floor and a queue of 1 at the bar).

Very friendly, helpful staff who willingly accommodated our request to store the birthday cake at the start of the day ahead of our booking early evening. Something on the menu for everyone with decent choice. Nice bright room at the back of the cafe was just right for casual, end of a day on the beach meal. Food was ok - chips were good.

Un salto para tomar algo rápido siendo un total principiante/idiota que contentarse con pedir el piloto habitual grigio. . La señora animado tras la barra explicó que no tenían este pero tenía un vino hecho de uva. Que el mismo resulta ser incluso mejor que cualquier pinot, previamente probado. Lamentablemente aunque me dijo dos veces que no recuerdo el nombre. Aparte de Tr algo. Lástima x personal encantador. super bar vendrá por la comida a nuestro regreso el próximo año.

Yo estaba en un viaje para buscar un lugar para practicar surf, fuimos, a lo que parecía el medio de la nada, comenzó a oscurecerse, la lluvia era exorbitante y luego, el Rockpool surgió de lo que parecía la más oscura profundidad de la tierra; amplio, luminoso y acogedor.

Decidimos ir a un sitio diferente para la cena y habíamos oído sólo sobre este lugar, así que decidimos probarlo. Menú de la cena era muy limitada y nos hubiera gustado un poco más de variedad. Se servía cerveza en vez de sidra y en general el proyecto de ley no era realmente a la altura de lo que esperaba.

Llegamos a este café/bar/restaurante al final de un día en una playa de la costa donde no había café. Estupendo encontrar abierta cuando el National Trust que estaban cerradas y aún más encantados cuando incluso reabrir su hielo crema shack especialmente para nosotros. Gracias Tom! Zona tranquila con buen ambiente exterior rodeado por arena y dunas.

Trovato per caso mentre giravamo la Cornovaglia in 4 (2 bambini). Bellissima posizione vicino all'oceano, cibo buono, personale gentilissimo, prezzo onesto (45 sterline in 4). Dopo cena anche passeggiata sulla spiaggia. Raccomandato.

Estado viniendo aquí durante años, incluso cuando fue el sandsifter. Te dan buena comida honesta, hecho extremadamente bien. Desde la reapertura como Rockpool ha ido un par de muescas. Nada grand o sofisticado, pero muy bien con buen gusto y un servicio encantador.

Visitamos el Rockpool para el almuerzo. Ubicado a poca distancia de la playa, pero lamentablemente sin una vista. Si quieres un paseo a la playa después de haber comido recuerda que sólo puedes conseguir dos horas de aparcamiento gratuito después de eso hay un sistema de despliegue y. Este lugar tiene un ambiente muy relajado, hay asientos fuera y se admiten perros dentro. La animación era anunciados por algunas noches. El menú era un poco decepcionante, ya que se anuncia como un restaurante de comida de mar, el menú era limitado en la parte de marisco. Este es más un café/bar de la playa, no sé si hay un menú diferente noche, no anuncian su menú en su sitio web después de haber dicho que la comida era adorable teníamos cangrejo y cangrejo Linguini y carne. La carne era de £18 y £15 la pasta casi, que era un poco más cara de lo que habíamos pagado previamente en un número de otros restaurantes. Mi única queja era que la comida se sirve en platos fríos, mi pasta enfriados rápidamente. Recomendamos una visita aquí si estás buscando algo para comer en la zona.

¡Qué hallazgo! Mientras conducíamos por aparecimos con dos hijos (uno de 10 años celiaco) y un perro joven. Una cálida bienvenida y un excelente menú. El personal era atento, optimista y comprometido. Una amplia selección de comida a un precio razonable. Lo mejor de todo eran muy consciente y libre de gluten lo mejor era la oferta del chef para crear un menú sin gluten bannofee budín para los jóvenes. Fue excelente y no toque los lados. Después de la cena un paseo corto en coche a la playa y aparcamiento, como fue después de las 7 de la tarde, pudimos llevar el perro para una caminata en la playa. Tan impresionados que arrastra nuestros amigos de vuelta con nosotros para otra comida y visita. incluso

The food is really tasty and the restaurant in general is lovely. Staff could be friendlier and the prices are not attractive. Such a shame as I would visit here a lot more if the prices were reviewed.

Visited twice for drinks and dinner whilst staying at Gwithian Farm. We had great food and service on both occasions. The staff were very friendly and nothing seemed to much trouble. The fishcakes and also the garlic prawns starter were exceptional. Thanks everyone. Moostaman. Staffordshire.

Nice food and great location , ticks the boxes . Food seemed fresh and clean premises . Free parking to customers aswell so you dont need to worry about finding change !

Reservamos con antelación, principalmente porque nos dejaron llevar el cachorro.

Me pilla este lugar mientras camina entre Portreath y calle Ives, y regresar por la noche. Se encuentra solo entre distancia las dunas de arena de la localidad de Gwithian. Tiene un ambiente vibrante muy moderno en su interior y un montón de espacio por dentro y por fuera.

the reviews were not so good but we were tired after surf lesson and took the chace. and we were happily surprised. the moulin frites were really good, really nice flavours with coconut milk and some chili plus the parsley. the pasta dish with creyfish had a perfect mix of flavours and even the vegetarian burger were good, with nice bread. chips to all dishes were just fine.

Detenido su en nuestro camino de regreso a la calle Ives. Qué bueno encontrar. Vistas encantador y el personal era amistoso y acogedor. Tuvimos el pasteles de pescado y una hamburguesa y un lado de caseros de col y maíz en la mazorca, delicioso. Mucha variedad en el menú y especiales. Bueno saber que admiten perros.

Comimos en este lugar el fin de semana pasado su buena y tenía malas críticas aquí, pero tengo que decir que encontré el lugar encantador. El personal nos recibió con una sonrisa y amablemente nos dijeron sobre el menú especial, etc.

a group of 6 of us met up for lunch, along with our 2 Greyhounds, Made welcome from the off, excellent fish cakes (had by 3 of the party) and I was pleased to get the coconut & chilli option mussels as well as the normal white wine choice. good drink selection & decent coffee to follow.

Llegó en unas vacaciones en familia, la primera en años todos juntos. Decidimos darle una oportunidad en la cafetería para comida de cumpleaños madre rockpool y estuvimos impresionados por la comida. Todos tuvimos la especial para comenzar, ajo y chili langostinos con baguette fresco. Ellos estaban perfectamente cocinado y claramente fresco. v Los platos principales fueron igualmente buenas, tuve la lubina Rissotto (especial), los padres tenían cangrejo y cangrejo linguini y mi novia y mi hermano tenía fritte moule, (realizada con leche de coco en vez de crema para un plato ligero y fragante que hacía eco comidas tailandesa). A todos nos encantó la comida, estaban muy bien presentado y sabía aún mejor. La única razón por la que no nos tienen el desierto era que no pude entrar! Bastante una pequeña selección de alcohol, pero todo muy bien, me encantó la sidra de barril.

Little expensive for sandwiches, and service a bit slow considering, but saved by one of the best home made sausage rolls I've tasted in a long time.

Bien me llamó un café. . no es. Es un restaurante con una vista. Llamado para una cerveza, un par de veces. Incluso aunque no comí aquí, por lo que vi que era preparó también otros parece bien merece una visita por la comida. Los precios donde no superior para algunos platos. Le aconsejo que comer temprano ya que tienden a cerrar si no hay suficientes clientes para mantenerlo abierto.

Teníamos pescado y patatas fritas y un filete de hamburguesa, cocinados a la orden, llegó rápidamente y eran tanto sabroso. Un entorno agradable, personal amable, nos gustó la cabinas! Leer algunos de los comentarios anteriores no reflejan nuestra experiencia, sin duda volveremos!

Siempre hemos hecho un punto de visitar el Rockpool cada vez que vacaciones en Gwithian. Estas visitas van desde un rápido caña para las cenas con la familia. Así que lamento decir que las cosas han ido cuesta abajo. 10 reservado, 5 adultos, 5 niños, comida normal, pedidos equivocados llegamos, poca variedad y un pelo en el pescado pasteles! ! Menú de postres no ofrecieron, etc, etc., una verdadera pena!

Nos detuvimos en para el almuerzo alrededor de las 12. 30 pero la cocina cerrada y no había comida, aunque me hubiera gustado que la explicación. No ocupado, sólo una persona delante de mí en el bar, pero tomó años conseguir sirve a pesar de ser un montón de personal ocupado evitando a los clientes. Un chico estaba dispuesto a empujar un paño alrededor y me dejaron estar allí sin acuse de recibo. Habiendo sido antes de que pueda decir que la comida está bien, para ser justos, pero el personal necesita algún tipo de formación en servicio al cliente.

Escribimos una crítica el año pasado 5*, ya que tenía un montón de estupendas comidas aquí. Hoy en día, llamamos para una cena improvisada, era tranquilo pero con muchas mesas reservadas, así que presumiblemente se esperaba una noche concurrida. Después de ser ignorados por 20 minutos en el bar mientras espera a la orden, el personal estaba haciendo otras cosas, pero una sonrisa, 'con usted en un momento" o que cualquier forma de reconocimiento han bastado! - nos fuimos y fuimos a McDonalds!

Came straight off the beach into this lovely chill out bar.. cracking decor and sunset views Few things off the menu but the manager explained why.. Kids fish and chips amazing value for stunning fresh fish.. Our meals were excellent too..

Our visit was a big let down to previous years. Staff were non attentive not welcoming and the food was average at best. I don't like giving bad reviews but if the public don't tell you then how can you improve.

Tuna sandwich was £7 and chips £3. I thought this was quite expensive. We also ordered a hot chocolate which took half an hour to arrive and was informed that this was because they were very busy. However restaurant was about half full.

Visitamos hoy para conseguir una bebida o un bocadillo antes de ir a la playa. Servicio tomó 40 minutos. Para un chocolate caliente, plato de patatas tibio y un sandwich de 7 Libras que podría haber comprado en un supermercado por la mitad del precio. No fue una buena experiencia.

Yo tengo un grupo poca y usamos un montón de cafeterías y restaurantes todo Cornwall y he tenido una experiencia fantástica tan lejos para todos lados y hemos usado el Rockpool antes.

El servicio era lento. La comida tardó 40 minutos, aunque habíamos reservado y estaba a 20 minutos de intervalos entre los principales de todo el mundo. Esto fue decepcionante, ya que era una comida de cumpleaños y el chico cumpleaños recibí su comida después de la mitad de la Mesa había terminado! First time here,family of 4 including 9 and 12 year old,arrived at lunch time and was quite busy,looked clean and tidy,ordered tuna sandwich x2 kids burger and goats cheese salad,tuna sandwich served on plain white bread,bit disappointing to say the least,would have been nice in crusty bread,salad was fine but kids burger was blackened one side and bit red in middle which put my little one off straight away,when mentioned to staff member he just shrugged shoulders,a bit more concern would have been the least to expect,overall we won't be revisiting and I sadly can't recommend,
