We love Gylly Beach Cafe and decided to visit last Friday for the first time this year, love what they've done with the new extended area. Food as always was very good, however the young lady serving us ruined the evening, she was serving the table next to us when i said excuse me to get her attention, she turned to me and said very abruptly and in a rude manor, i am serving this table and when i've finished serving them i will get to you, even the lady she was serving looked at me in astonishment. I was just chasing up the sauce the gentleman who was serving us hadn't bought over. The plates were left out for a good half an hour after we had finished eating and hadn't been cleared by the time we left. We won't let this one incident put us off but it did dampen our evening.

Very tasty food, however, not many choices as a vegetarian on the dinner menu. We had a broccoli steak, which could’ve been deemed slightly pricey, and two sides of potatoes which were delicious. We sat in the self serve area due to a high demand for tables, although it was very little burden only requiring going to the bar to order and picking up your own cutlery, food and drinks are still delivered to your table. Overall a very good spot for a meal and a drink and right by the sea for a good view.

Visited twice whilst away on our holiday, we were staying round the corner from this lovely beach cafe and were so happy to have this gem on our doorstep! Our first visit was just for drinks and we had a lovely time. Our second visit was exceptional, we turned up after a previous poor experience at another establishment that left us without dinner. Gylly cafe sat us 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and were so welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure we were fed and looked after. The food was great quality, service was impeccable. We finished our evening with a relaxing nightcap on the terrace with friends. Beautiful views right on the beach. We intend on returning again!

My starter, crevettes, main, fish of the day were floating in oil. I ate the crevettes but sent the fish back. I wasn't charged for the fish, but it spoilt my evening. The loos in the restaurant were awash. Kids from the beach were using the loos, even there are public loos on the beach. The kids serving were delightful, but where was a manager to sort things out?,

I gave the management opportunity to address my concern about our experience before going public but they chose not to respond. Went for breakfast last Sunday family of 7 who’d came down for the weekend. 1st time trying the new patio area which was great location and a relaxing chilled vibe. However for half of us to be served after 30 minutes and the rest served after nearly an hour with what turned out to be cold food was not good. Didn’t make a fuss at the time as didn’t want to embarrass my guests but when I politely asked why the food took so long , the waiter just said “we’re busy”. Locals won’t put up with this so presumably aimed at tourists ?

A fabulous venue, with an impressive renovation recently completed. We ordered sandwiches which were ok when they finally arrived, but took almost an hour. It’s ’pay up front’ so we would have walked out but waited. They didn’t seem particularly busy or understaffed, hopefully they’ll rectify this by busy season.

The staff exudes a warm hospitality that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're indulging in a sumptuous meal or simply enjoying a quiet moment with coffee, this cafe is a must-visit for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The fish & chips were the worst I’ve had in a long time. Fish overcooked, tasteless & very dry & no tartar sauce which they didn’t say when we ordered. So my wife & I went for lunch, the extension to the cafe looks lovely,we went & sat on the under cover front terrace. So here’s my first observation, there is now no short cut to the inside as the patio doors are locked so you could get another table inside, so no notice, walk to the end & go in around past toilets or around through front door. Next I’m in a standing along the bar & I’m 8th in line, if you want a drink only & the new outside bar is not open ( it wasn’t at that time) you hope someone comes along & asked if your only want drinks, not the best system. Split the bar & have people queeing 90 degrees to the bar, job done. The meal prices are at a premium because of the position but, my fish & chips though ok could have been better, so let’s break it down, mushy peas good, quantity good, tartar sauce was nice but a small quantity, next chips, god I hate chips in a bucket, but were tasty but frozen, next the fish, hmmm well beer batter ok but not big & very thin for the price, Falmouth is a fishing port? Next & I am being picky, so I noticed when I ordered the food there was no salt & pepper on any outside table so pinch them from inside which were on every table. So food delivered & I asked for vinegar (the tomato sauce if I wanted came in a tiny bowl, REALLY!!!!) I had one yes one in those bloody things you can’t open, my wife had to stab it with her fork, crap. Come on I know you you want to get your investment back, you employ a lot of young things floating around serving which is good but you need to step up for customer enjoyment & value for money. I hope it’s not just relying on the the position of the cafe as we have been going for years & it was good back then.

Unfortunately, had to modify my initial review. The service and the food quality is getting progressively worse and I don’t think we will be back. Couldn’t place an order today at the dinner service as everything was out of stock including desserts, the whole sea bass was served RAW twice now, and I am talking raw, took half an hour to get the bill and another half an hour to actually be able to pay. We had to go to the till to try to pay, only for all the waitresses just passing by without paying absolutely no attention to us. The new stuff seems to be massively under-trained, no one seems to know what is happening, keep brining wrong orders to the table. The food also became very hit and miss. Very disappointed.

We arrived around 4.30pm and we ordered beverages at the bar, as we were informed by one of the waitresses that the evening meal, couldn't be ordered until 5pm. Although they were overrunning with staff, no one came back to take our food order at our table so hubby ordered our meals at the bar. All the tables around us were laid up for the start of the evening service with most tables already being reserved apart our table appeared to be the only table not laid up, hubby had to ask at the bar if we could have an evening menu and someone went off too print one up by all accounts. When our meals came out, we had to request cutlery and a water jug, at no time was our used tea pot and cups and saucers ever removed from our table, plates were taken away which was a bonus and our meal was exceptionally tasty. We weren't asked if we would like dessert or any other drinks, and noticed that service was being provided at some tables. Service appeared quite lapsed as at this point in time, they weren't that busy! No one was greeting any customers at the door and showing them to a table, instead potential customers were just wondering around looking for a table that didn’t have reserved on it! I watched one of the chef's preparing a sauce or something in his blender, where he was repeatedly using the same spoon to taste his mix, during preparation of which I thought was not something that would be allowed in any kitchen prep!

We stopped by for a quick lunch on a reasonably sunny weekday. Unfortunately the wrong menu had been left on the table so we didn’t realise certain menu items were available for lunch. We ordered at the bar quickly, and our drinks arrived shortly after - followed by our food - very quick service! Great presentation and good quality food. The mussels in garlic and wine were great… lovely tasting, but lacked salt/seasoning. The chicken Caesar salad looked incredible when it arrived, but was unfortunately incredibly under seasoned (the chicken) and had barely any dressing on the salad, so we were quite disappointed with this item. On the whole, a nice lunch, but definitely needed more salt (and this is coming from somebody who doesn’t ever add salt or like things salty 😅).

I honestly can't believe I've given this cafe another chance and it's failed miserably AGAIN. I'm local and love to spend a lot of time on the beach so when my son suggested breakfast here I was reluctant but thought give it another go. The coffee is always cold without fail so when I ordered breakfast I said to the waitress it's always cold could we please have it piping hot. Yes yes she said I'll make sure of it. Guess what? When they brought the coffee to the table the waiter couldn't figure out which was decaff and was trying to guess??? The coffee was so cold I could stick my finger in it. Honestly I do not know what the problem is with serving a cold latte! The breakfast was nice and well cooked but overpriced for what you received. The door opening constantly is absolutely freezing blowing inside and people still slide open the other outside door to go in even though there is a note on the door saying please go around. Walk on to The Falmouth Hotel up the road which is currently being refurbished (looking amazing!) beautiful setting and HOT COFFEE!! We won't be visiting Gylly Cafe ever again.

More recently, I tucked into a deliciously fresh fish and chips meal and ate it with the beautiful sea-view to accompany. The food was also of top-standard and I felt very pleased with the service. One unfortunate qualm I have is that there is no Wi-Fi service and for Giffgaff, very weak phone signal for data access, also. As a regular visitor to Gylly, I was very disappointed in the change in menu and increase in price. There is no longer a vegetarian full breakfast option, only a vegan option which is the same price (£15!) as the meat one and doesn't have any of the meat or eggs, the only thing it has that the meat breakfast doesn't is some bland wilted spinach... and if you want to add eggs it's £2.50 extra! Incredibly overpriced for no eggs, no toast, tinned baked beans, one tomato, a handful of button mushrooms, unseasoned spinach and what appear to be two freezer sausages and hasbrowns. Will not be ordering this again, which is a shame as the veggie breakfast at Gylly is usually a staple for any of my Falmouth visits. Also very bizarre not to have toast on either full breakfast option, the first I've ever come across that! Staff were very friendly though, it's not their fault!

One wet and windy Sunday morning, it was unsurprisingly quiet, which I liked. They were rushed off their feet only the day before, as weather is a large contributory factor in the volume of people. The young lady taking and serving orders was very nice. They had no food on the menu available, only pastries, which I had no issue with. I chose a pain au chocolate and a caramel latte, both of which were good. Seating was on the beach, on the classic wooden table/bench combo, albeit wet from the rain!

Great place to go. We met up with friends at Gylly Beach Cafe for tea. We all enjoyed watching the waves on the beach.

I bought ice cream and draught cider here (rattler), very nice! Staff were friendly and helpful and checked an ice cream was gluten-free for me, which was great. There is a £2 cup deposit for the cider which you get back after returning the cup. Beautiful beach and relaxing atmosphere

I was surprised to read the negative reviews as we had a wonderful meal there yesterday. Ordered the Seafood sharing board and some fries - totally did not need the fries as the sharing board was huge. Lovely salad with lots of unusual bits like edamame beans and artichoke hearts. We did manage to eat the fries as well in the end which were also delicious. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Hope to go back.

Stopped for a beer and snack in the afternoon and due to being in walking distance from our hotel, we booked in for the evening. The little plates were really tasty and great value. In the evening the cafe is transformed into more of a bistro and we had a delicious meal of hake and seafood risotto and a huge bowl of Thai style mussels with king prawns and crevettes. We had a nice bottle of white rioja. Very reasonably priced. Very good service thank you!

Listened to great music and ate good food - thank you. Always good to sit, looking out over the bay and enjoy good food. The staff were attentive and our meal was delicious.

Disappointing again. This was my 2nd time here & the first time there was an issue with drinks not turning up & being charged for something we never ordered. This time I ordered a vegetarian sausage & mushroom bap and a mocha. The mocha was luke warm & really really sweet. I took a bite of my breakfast bap & immediately knew the sausage was real meat. I took it back & they cooked me another one. The waiter apologised but that much seeing as it was quite a serious issue. I would have at least thought they would have taken it off the bill. My daughter had the children's breakfast & found a long hair in her beans. Really not acceptable. Will not be returning which is a real shame as it is prime location.

Shocking. Waited 40 mins for our breakfast that never turned up. When we asked about it, we were told it was “backed up” (which wasn’t true they had forgotten it) . When we asked to speak to a manager he didn’t show up, so after about 10 mins we went to speak to the nice lady who served us to ask for a refund. Then the manager came to us and said “well I was coming but you guys walked away and I was busy” No apology, just snarky rudeness. All it would have taken was some honest communication and an apology. This place has gone down hill. Avoid at all cost

Not up to usual standard. Have been going here for years and had family visiting this weekend so thought we'd take them to one of our favourites. 4 identical full cornish breakfasts ordered. After a long wait, 2 came without the hash browns and one without hogs pudding. When pointed out, the breakfasts were taken away for the additional items to be added, making them a little cold. As we started eating it was clear that the hogs pudding and mushrooms were undercooked and the toast only toasted on one side. Having guests, we didn't want to talk to a member of staff a second time. The staff were nice, the location is as good as ever but the catering was not what we've come to expect.

Great portion sizes, for a great price. Staff are always friendly, parking is free for people eating there. Very popular and for good reason. I've eaten here many times.

There are not enough stars available to do The Blue justice, there's nowhere else like it and it's everything an English pub should be. One reviewer awarded one star and preferred to go across to Wetherspoons - and he won't be back. THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!!

My current favourite place to stay in Falmouth! Solo trip in penthouse and then Fos’cle with hubby. The same great view. Lovely rooms with great location. The best nights sleep I had in a long time. Straight out onto the high street with a quiet setting. Beautiful 🥰

Very tasty chippie, freshly cooked and a good portion of fish as well as chips. Very friendly staff and food still hot and fresh when we got back to our digs.

We used this bar previously & loved it - the setting, the rum, the staff. However, when in Falmouth last year, it looked terminally closed. We'll be in Falmouth again soon so I've just tried a telephone call but no reply. Beginning to feel like it's still not up & running - which will be a shame. Due to our last proper / successful visit & chat with owner, I've got seriously into spiced rums & have a home selection probably in excess of most pubs. It's too good a venue to just fail....... Mick
