Gylly Beach Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

One of the best views in my Falmouth, the Sunday roast is awesome 👍😎

Had lunch today and ordered the sharing plate at £27. Is this really worth £27? Not in my opinion. Gylly always used to be a great drop off but it’s now very expensive and of indifferent quality. Disappointing!

As a regular visitor to Gylly, I was very disappointed in the change in menu and increase in price. There is no longer a vegetarian full breakfast option, only a vegan option which is the same price (£15!) as the meat one and doesn't have any of the meat or eggs, the only thing it has that the meat breakfast doesn't is some bland wilted spinach... and if you want to add eggs it's £2.50 extra! Incredibly overpriced for no eggs, no toast, tinned baked beans, one tomato, a handful of button mushrooms, unseasoned spinach and what appear to be two freezer sausages and hasbrowns. Will not be ordering this again, which is a shame as the veggie breakfast at Gylly is usually a staple for any of my Falmouth visits. Also very bizarre not to have toast on either full breakfast option, the first I've ever come across that! Staff were very friendly though, it's not their fault!

Had our usual post dog walk coffees at the Gilly Beach cafe on Saturday morning. Plenty of room at 10.00am and well behaved dogs are allowed inside.

We were a party of 4 and we each had a different breakfast. All 4 breakfasts were well presented and tasty. The portion sizes were very small and at the prices charged, we found it very bad value. We will not be eating there again.

Had fish and chips and the fish was amazing, super succulent and the batter was perfectly crisp, however the chips were under cooked and the peas was not mushed as written in the menu but it appeared to have been an extremely busy afternoon so I can understand why. We shall come again the next time we're in the area (the fish really was brilliant)

We had a recent trip to Falmouth and had breakfast every morning at the cafe for 5 days. The staff were super friendly and so welcoming. The quality of the breakfast was worth the walk each morning. Lovely quick service and really clean premises. Sad to say goodbye this morning.

Calling this place a café is misleading, it's so much more. We should have booked but friendly staff found us a table. Great food and service and the place was buzzing! Really recommend!

Great spot and the food is top notch. Deserts are so yummmmm had to go and thank the chef for his desert last night it was beautiful I shared and so wish I hadn’t lol. Staff are lovely and restaurant very clean. Shame I don’t live here

Really good food. Usually go here for breakfast whilst sitting outside enjoying the view. A nice treat. Great, polite service. Prices have gone up a little, but so has everything! UPDATE: CHEESY CHIPS - the last time I was here they're cheesy chips or "fries" have gone downhill. No more chunky chips with mature cheddar (not melted)...now just some poor excuse for dry fries and some sad looking parmesan cheese 😞😞 RIP good chips

Lovely cafe, placed on a beautiful, spacious sandy beach. Lovely cliff walk to nearby Swanpool beach too.

One wet and windy Sunday morning, it was unsurprisingly quiet, which I liked. They were rushed off their feet only the day before, as weather is a large contributory factor in the volume of people. The young lady taking and serving orders was very nice. They had no food on the menu available, only pastries, which I had no issue with. I chose a pain au chocolate and a caramel latte, both of which were good. Seating was on the beach, on the classic wooden table/bench combo, albeit wet from the rain!

Great place to go. We met up with friends at Gylly Beach Cafe for tea. We all enjoyed watching the waves on the beach.

I bought ice cream and draught cider here (rattler), very nice! Staff were friendly and helpful and checked an ice cream was gluten-free for me, which was great. There is a £2 cup deposit for the cider which you get back after returning the cup. Beautiful beach and relaxing atmosphere

1pm on a Sunday... "Sorry, no hot food today". We walked away.

I was surprised to read the negative reviews as we had a wonderful meal there yesterday. Ordered the Seafood sharing board and some fries - totally did not need the fries as the sharing board was huge. Lovely salad with lots of unusual bits like edamame beans and artichoke hearts. We did manage to eat the fries as well in the end which were also delicious. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Hope to go back.

Listened to great music and ate good food - thank you. Always good to sit, looking out over the bay and enjoy good food. The staff were attentive and our meal was delicious.

Stopped for a beer and snack in the afternoon and due to being in walking distance from our hotel, we booked in for the evening. The little plates were really tasty and great value. In the evening the cafe is transformed into more of a bistro and we had a delicious meal of hake and seafood risotto and a huge bowl of Thai style mussels with king prawns and crevettes. We had a nice bottle of white rioja. Very reasonably priced. Very good service thank you!

Disappointing again. This was my 2nd time here & the first time there was an issue with drinks not turning up & being charged for something we never ordered. This time I ordered a vegetarian sausage & mushroom bap and a mocha. The mocha was luke warm & really really sweet. I took a bite of my breakfast bap & immediately knew the sausage was real meat. I took it back & they cooked me another one. The waiter apologised but that much seeing as it was quite a serious issue. I would have at least thought they would have taken it off the bill. My daughter had the children's breakfast & found a long hair in her beans. Really not acceptable. Will not be returning which is a real shame as it is prime location.

Shocking. Waited 40 mins for our breakfast that never turned up. When we asked about it, we were told it was “backed up” (which wasn’t true they had forgotten it) . When we asked to speak to a manager he didn’t show up, so after about 10 mins we went to speak to the nice lady who served us to ask for a refund. Then the manager came to us and said “well I was coming but you guys walked away and I was busy” No apology, just snarky rudeness. All it would have taken was some honest communication and an apology. This place has gone down hill. Avoid at all cost

Not up to usual standard. Have been going here for years and had family visiting this weekend so thought we'd take them to one of our favourites. 4 identical full cornish breakfasts ordered. After a long wait, 2 came without the hash browns and one without hogs pudding. When pointed out, the breakfasts were taken away for the additional items to be added, making them a little cold. As we started eating it was clear that the hogs pudding and mushrooms were undercooked and the toast only toasted on one side. Having guests, we didn't want to talk to a member of staff a second time. The staff were nice, the location is as good as ever but the catering was not what we've come to expect.

Always call in 2-3 times a year as daughter on Exeter Uni campus … Have day treats and a definite Sunday lunch.. Can get hectic but food is always really good .. Great staff , great atmosphere and reasonably priced .. Good plentiful Sunday platter .. A must do if in area

Great place, whether you just want a drink to take in the view or something to eat. We recently visited Falmouth and stayed near by the beach and really enjoyed gylly beach cafe, really friendly staff and service, well worth a visit.

I have my brother and sister in law visiting from Suffolk and we had a fantastic lunch today. Super place in every respect and I shall be back.

Absolutely incredible, we’ve been back here for both breakfast and lunch and couldn’t recommend it enough. The food is delicious, every plate coming out looked so good too. Usually we avoid seaside cafes like the plague, but this places blows all of them out of the water. The view of the beach is gorgeous. Service and staff are lovely. 100% recommend

Visited today with my partner, we both ordered the chicken breast Caesar salad at £19 each, was very disappointed when it was brought out to us with 5 lettuce leaves, 3 small chunks of chicken, 5 anchovies, a light dusting of parmesan cheese and 4 small spots of mayonnaise and not forgetting the stale croutons (e.g. thin slithers of stale toasted bread), I would definitely not call this a salad, nore would I recommend it to anyone unless your not hungry. but £19 each for next to nothing I could of made a better salad at home. very disappointed used to rate the food here but not since new ownership. Chips purchased separately.

I was excited to go for the view, but my excitement stopped there. The bathrooms were dirty and had no tissues, not a great start. I ordered the “Korean fried chicken” it was one of the worst chicken dishes I’ve ever eaten, so overcooked and dry, and not one reason to claim it’s Korean.. no spice or seasoning. The hummus was not bad, but just okay really. The squid was about the same. Super disappointed as a lot of people really seem to like this place, but not really any reason to go back for me.

Great service. OK food. Nice beach front location. The restaurant is a nice place to sit and spend some time. Staff were excellent. Very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Had Scallops for starter on a thin slice of overdone Hogs pudding. 3 small scallops, with no flavour. Ok, if a bit underwhelming. Main for 3 people was The Hake on crab risotto. Incredibly bland, watery risotto that appeared not to have been seasoned. Flavourless. Hake was of decent size and cooked well but with such a mild flavour really needed the risotto to shine. Others had steak which was cooked well. To be fair the chips were excellent. I’m only reviewing my food and experience. Hopefully the other dishes were of a higher standard. Again, can’t speak more highly of the staff.

Went for coffee and cakes whilst looking at the views One of the cakes, a Muffin, appeared uncooked in the middle so we asked for a replacement, staff member returned the cake having dissected it into small pieces and said it was just the banana. This was returned again to suggest that it was not pleasant to eat something that had been broken down by staff, they then denied touching it and refused to replace it Very poor customer service

Had a recent breakfast trip to Gylly Beach and loved our visit. Service was quick and friendly, and the food tasted great. The only issue we had was the wasps which was not part of their service!ha. Highly recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast.

Our breakfast was luke warm at best. When we asked for 2 more pieces of bread we were told: we don't do it. What on earth did we have with our eggs? The manager did ask us if we'd like free coffees but what we actually wanted was a warm breakfast and 2 extra slices of bread!

The only restaurant in town where I felt unwelcomed. We had made a reservation for dinner for two. When we reached the staff took us to a table which was supposed to be reserved for us, but the reserved table only had one chair and it was in a tight corner where the chair barely fit with the table. Now I understand, we booked at the last moment but He didn't have a hit of embarrassment offering such a table to a customer. He could have easily told us that, unfortunately we don't have tables left and we could wait for a self service table outside once it's free, which we eventually did ourselves but he was very weirdly rude and ignorant. Then when we ordered, I gave the table number and the server went and gave our food to another table and we got it cold because of that but still not half bad, I was already annoyed about the service at the beginning, so we just decided to leave. Scallops and Specials menu: Risotto with the catch of the the day, simply amazing would have been better if it was warm.

This has to be one of the best seaside cafes in the uk 🇬🇧 👏 To be honest, calling it a cafe is like calling a diamond a bit of coal 😀. THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING on our visits. Yes, visits it was so good that we went back the next day to try something different off the menu. Everything was cooked to perfection 👌 👍 the choice, although not extensive was excellent, and the taste and presentation superb 👌 👍. While not overly expensive, it is on the upper side of cost ie £20 for fish and chips, but they will be some of the best you ever had. Honestly, they are that good. Overall outstanding experience ✨️ 👌 👏

Love this cafe/restaurant not just because of the location and view but the food is great and we have never had a poor meal. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is plenty of choice on the menu.

Very nice beach. Dogs are not allowed in high season, but you can sit on benches along the path and stay there with your dog. Shower and toilet available on the beach. Snack options right on the beach.

I absoloutley love this restaurant. The staff are the best bit, the ones who are friendly and bubbly anyway. The food was okay, a little overpriced for what it actually is. However...the manager, Rees i think his name is, is the worst, most ignorant, rude, self absorbed individual i ever met. I heard him talking to his staff, he treats them as though they are poo on the bottom of his shoe. He will work for 10 minutes, and think that enough, then he will disappear. To make this place better, start with ridding yourself of such a waste of space.

Direct view of the beach, which is very busy with paddle lessons. Impeccable meal. Same service. Good warm atmosphere.

Loved this little gem! We booked a couple of hours beforehand for the BBQ and managed to get a reservation. The staff were all lovely and friendly. The food was amazing and we had a lovely view of the beach. There was a lovely girl singing, nothing negative but it was a bit loud, as we were sat right in front of her.

We had the mussels which were nice but at the price was disappointed not to have had a few french fries which we assumed would have been included also no bowl provided for empty shells we asked a waiter for one which they duly provided and said it was not their policy to provide one even though we had to place them all over the table! We assumed the reason being the tables were too small which they were. Also dogs barking all the time with one sat on a seat doubt if we will return due to no attempt by staff to ask owners to curb their dogs barking or tell one owner to remove dog from seat. There should be a large sign stating dogs should not be on seats as unhygienic and others have to sit afterwards.

I had a Pizza Margarita for 9£, it was ridiculously small.

When you see CAFE in an eatery name or RESTAURANT you can forgiven thinking CAFE is a quick Fish & Chips Tea, Bread & Butter. Of the two offerings on the beach and not far apart the Gylly Beach Cafe is a very surprisingly little gem, making several visits the Fayre we had was superb from lunch time visits to a reserved table evening visit, OK you may think the plastic white chairs and tables kill the atmoshere, nope the cleanliness is first class and this standard continues to the toilet facilities. Over several visits with differing choices the food standard was more than admirable, the whole business ran like a well oiled machine, little wonder it gets very busy Very cheery polite staff, attention to detail, courteous, attentive but not OTT. Well worthy of a visit and it will not break the bank - You will not be disappointed.

Biggest ice cream of the holiday, wonderful!!!

Wife had the duck, I had grilled mackerel. Both were great. Her dauphinoise potato looked to be scrumptious. Young bloke ( Will ?) explained how it was cooked. All staff dealing with us were very professional and helpful.

Lovely beachside setting. Indoor and outdoor seating with some under a big sun canopy. Dog friendly. Busy but found a table overlooking the beach. Menus on table and you go up to bar to order. Good selection on both food and drinks menu. Friendly efficient team of servers. Yummy fish and chips in Cornish beer batter. Big car park nearby and a 10 mins walk into main town. Definitely worth a visit!

Lovely spot and good service/lovely waitress but the food was underwhelming and overpriced. The brown roll (with cheese, ham and relish) was dry/stale and portions limited. Would go again for coffee/drink but not for food.

Great food as usual been many times really love this place..however the management need to get rid of the dead wood..most of the staff are excellent visited twice this week and the girls taking the order's are totally miserable need some customer service training a smile would have been nice ..the other waiting staff were wonderful

Lovely little spot by the sea all year round! Food was fresh and tasty, the focaccia is very good! (I had the burger, and the Sundae for dessert, wish there was more of that as it was great!) Staff were great too!

Went away for a quiet 2 day break to Falmouth and tried this place which was fully booked but we managed to get a table just outside. We both had the fish and chips which was by far the best fish I have had in a long time. Really great meal in a lovely location

The other day we ordered a breakfast and had to keep asking for things that weren’t put on the plate including tomatoes, toast and mushrooms?! We also had to ask for salt and pepper and also sauces. Today we arrived at the takeaway cafe and we couldn’t even sit on the benches outside and there were 2 drunk men, one half asleep and the other playing music and drinking alcohol. They have been there for over 3 hours! Staff haven’t even told them to leave. Disgraceful.

We didn't have a reservation! Noticed that first! When we arrived there were many seats available inside, but supposedly reserved. That's why we were sent outside. And there we sat with our drinks... Well, our mistake. We knew from the pubs that we also had to order food at the counter and pay straight away, but here it surprised us. It got cool. Food was brought and it was good. Really! The seats inside remained empty. We shivered as we watched what was happening inside. Not only one table remained unoccupied... We were cold... Here's the information for management: Sales for the evening would have been higher if we had been given a table inside. Unsatisfactory!

Beautiful location, clean, neat and modern interior. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. I ate there 4 x during my stay in Falmouth. 1 x breakfast and 3 x dinners. Every meal was delicious. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're in Falmouth ✨

I only stopped for coffee. It was a reasonable price although it came in a small cup. Service was slow and my coffee wasn't as hot as I would have liked. But the cafe is on the beach and I don't suppose the holiday makers worry too much.
