Stopped off after a three hour trek and enjoyed the best piece of Lamb with veg that I have eaten for years. Highly recommended 😁

What an undiscovered gem. Friendly efficient service - and we were accommodated at ten minutes' notice - and superb food. Recommend the very tasty smoked mackerel pate, and I think the bread is baked in the kitchen.

A dire experience I'm afraid. Ordered walnut, beetroot and feta starter but instead of walnuts the chef had imaginatively substituted sweet honeycomb! They do look a little similar i suppose. I had ordered steak burger for main , my partner the steak and fries. Just about the worst burger I've ever tasted ( and I've eaten a lot). The steak would have been more use to a cobbler. Soggy chips and 2 day old coleslaw accompanied .We both ate a small amount and gave the rest to our delighted dogs. Walked back up Gardoms Edge hungry and feeling ripped off. Actually sent an email to the pub when we got home but they haven't bothered to reply. I can think of much better ways to waste 40 quid. We waited over an hour for that to make it worse

We spontaneously stopped for lunch here on a journey in Derbyshire, and were very glad we did. We were lucky to get a table as it seems very popular and most other people had reserved a table. The food was delicious and quickly served. Out waitress was attentive and friendly. I had the ploughman's sandwich which was excellent.

Came for a Sunday Roast on a recommendation. Glad we did as it was delicious! Meat was superb as were all the trimmings. Hope to visit again soon!

Visited here yesterday for some lunch…what a wonderful place…we were shown a table and ordered our drinks and food,we had the steak sandwich which came with chips…it was perfectly cooked even the dog loved it..the staff were lovely and nice music was playing too…will definitely come back thanks guys and gals

Good place to start or finish a walk in the beautiful Peak District. Lovely little Pub. Good ales and great food. Finished a walk around Chatsworth and Baslow via Birchen edge. Had a pint of shandy and a spicy buttermilk chicken sandwich. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend a visit.

Used the car park next door to go for a walk. Pub looked very busy and people leaving appeared happy.

We have driven past this Inn many times in the past and the carpark has always been full so we haven’t stopped off, today we had been to Chatsworth and went past and the carpark was pretty much empty so we turned around and went back to try it. First impressions lovely interior, small but set out really well and cosy. We ordered food from the menu which doesn’t have a lot of choice on it then we waited ages, there was only us and one other couple in the restaurant side and we hadn’t ordered anything that would take a long time, finally the food turned up and it was absolutely shocking 😞for the price I was expecting gastro pub standard food. The kids margarita pizza was microwaved and like rubber I can see now why on week days they don’t charge for kids meals. I had a toastie which was cold and soggy the only good thing was the fries we found these quite nice. My husband had steak which was described on the menu as medium rare in a jus but it arrived well done chewy in what looked like a very watery gravy. The food was very poor and disappointing we will not be back it’s a shame as it’s a lovely looking pub in a scenic area

Family of 2 adults and 2 children (1 & 4yrs). Natalie is a great host who has made my family feel so welcome on three occasions now. The pan fried lamb rump was delicious! Also the Truffle and Parmesan fries are amazing and the onion rings are out of this world! Amazing to have this fabulous venue on our door step. Thank you!

A great spot to stop for lunch heading over to Chatsworth House. Baslow is always so busy and you can’t always get parked. The Robin Hood is great for parking and still in the heart of the Peak District. Family of 3 plus pooch. Great menu- freshly cooked onsite, something for everyone too. When the sun is out it’s great to sit outside and watch that amazing hillside change colour in the sunshine. Wish we lived closer!

What a lovely, cosy pub. Really friendly staff and always there to accommodate your needs. The food was delicious with lots to chose from and very reasonably priced. We had a lovely time and will definitely be going again.

Great little spot for a Sunday lunch, food was served fresh with a great big Yorkshire pudding. The gravy was like my nan used to make, just perfect. They had a lovely dessert menu but I was so full I couldn't fit one in. Next time we will come again and have the lunch offer. Thanks again for great food and service

Pricey, but at least the food was freshly prepared. £18 for a main and £5 for chips. The service was a letdown for others who tried to order not long before the 19:45 cut off just to be told the kitchen has a backlog and has finished early. The atmosphere seemed a bit stuffy

We visited with my Elderly Aunt, After my wife studied the online menu. The food was well prepared, but not how we understood the menu. My Salmon salad and new potatoes, turned out to be fried in butter, somewhat browned. Which kind of blew the Slimming world diet for this week. Soup was nice, bread toasted and butter.

My partner and I have passed this place so many times and frequently said “let’s try there for lunch one day” “it’s supposed to be nice” she said. Well today was the day. It was a good day. The feel of the place was apparent immediately on entrance. Quite plain in a way, but with a certain charm which made us feel immediately comfortable. We were greeted at the bar by a warm and welcoming bar girl. That doesn’t seem a good enough title for the quality of her work. My partner is a vegan, she didn’t put that on her Tinder profile 🤷🏻‍♂️ !! Ha ha Seriously, they couldn’t have been lovelier and more accommodating with her. From ordering, we waited for quite a long time. Luckily we get along so we had a good laugh whilst waiting. I’d much rather wait than my food coming quickly, wether it’s true or not, it feels like they’re making food from scratch and not just warming things up. I love my steak and ale pies and when I found out they do one, it was my obvious choice. It’s my ’go-to’ in unknown places. Our food arrived about five minutes before I might start getting twitchy so we’re all ok. I was presented with an individual pie, probably about five inches in diameter , a nice dollop of mask and some green vegetables. Oh, and a little jug of gravy. My pie was well packed and the chunks of beef were tasty and tender. It was delicious, it was all delicious, the veg crispy and the mash mashy. My partner made such approving noises, I thought she’s as trying to re-enact ‘that’ scene from ‘When Harry Met Sally’ !! Our lovely waiter checked on us at one point and the next time he came back, our plates were clear. A very successful lunch to say the least. We’re both beautifully full with just a main meal. This isn’t your £10.99 a meal place. Expect an average of probably £16.00 for the mains. Forgive me, I can’t remember too much as I didn’t bother truly scrutinising it once I knew pie was on offer. I wasn’t expecting to write a review at this point. However, it’s worth it. We will both be coming back, the staff were just lovely and the food outstanding. I would have loved to have sat outside for a drink as it’s in a beautiful setting but sadly the manager couldn’t sort that one out for us. Well done guys, your work is top class !!

Popped in here for some food after a hike. The Sunday lunch portion was great. Food is fresh and very well cooked, the Yorkshire pudding was 10/10. However I will say the atmosphere made us want to get through the food as quickly as we can and leave. Very questionable “clientele”, loud, no respect to other guests and not “monitored” by any staff.

Excellent country dog friendly pub! Started and finished our walk here. We had 3 meals, and all were delicious. The gravy that came in a jug for the steak & ale pie was exceptional 😋

A great place to eat. We stayed at a local bed breakfast and had 4 evening meals here which were of excellent quality and good value. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Food was OK - just had sandwich and chips and a drink which filled a gap after our walk. Sad to say that hospitality skills were pretty much non existent - and because of this we will not be going back which is a shame as the pub itself is really lovely.

Very mediocre Smells heavily of fish fryer. Indifferent staff ( I only saw one indifferent manager/barperson.

I broke down in my car near the pub. The locals were so very helpful - directing traffic and helping me get the car to a safe place. Dave the Landlord was exceptional. He calmly gave me help and advice whilst dipping in and out of my unfolding drama with the RAC. He didn't hesitate to get me onto the Wifi and then over the next 5 hours took every care to make sure I was getting good advice. He made phone calls to rescue and recovery services and helped me discover all the help that was available in such a rural area. I was increasingly scared and 150 miles from home, but Dave was a real strength in his calm way and made sure I was OK. He made no drama, or fuss, but never let me feel alone. FIVE hours of attention, and he would take no money for his kindness nor let me pay for drinks. No wonder everyone likes this pub!!

Four of us booked the Robin Hood, expecting it to be busy being a bank holiday Monday. Before going, we saw online that the menu is currently transitioning and please call us to discuss the current one. Anyway, when we got there, it was surprisingly quiet. We got seated, and menus were brought over, and our drinks orders were taken. I’d been told the steak burger was incredibly nice, so I was going to have that. The waiter came over with the drinks and asked if we were ready to order. One of us wanted a pie but were told that the oven is playing up and can’t have a pie, another of us asked for the steak burger but were told they were out of beef. Not sure why this wasn’t mentioned when we got the menus or even when we called to make the booking. Anyway, three of us had the fish and chips, and I had the lamb. It was alright, but I kind of regretted my choice after being told there was no beef. I did order some chunky chips with bacon bits and gravy on the side, these were really nice. For dessert, most of us had something different, although everything had nuts in it. So if you do have a nut allergy, you’re a bit screwed! I had some dark chocolate cake with ice cream, and my wife had a trifle. The dessert was pretty good. Sadly, for my first visit here, it was a bit of a letdown, although I would visit it again as I feel we didn’t get the best experience.

Nice cosy pup. Very convenient for the Birchen Head walk. Okay food, we had the steak sandwich, fish finger sandwich and childrens chicken nuggets. Really tiny children’s macaroni cheese portion, which was a shame as it was nice. However the two male staff were really miserable and unfriendly so I definitely wouldn’t go back because we get white unwelcome. The girl was okay.

Excellent food, and a fantastic, professional and friendly front of house team. They were really helpful when I turned up for a Sunday roast as a vegetarian with a peanut allergy (sorry!!) and created an alternative which was delicious. Only room for improvement would be a better range of real ales from local breweries! Thank you to the whole team, for two amazing meals this weekend!!

An amazing pub with a warm welcome! It’s dog friendly, friendly staff and fantastic food & drinks worth the £. (You can book online very easily, walk in call). I'd describe this as a traditional pub because of the warm welcome with fantastic customer service and comfortable tasteful decor. Perfect for hikers as there's several routes and climbs nearby, stop off for cyclists, motorbike & drivers touring. (We found a circular on All Trails up to Nelsons Monument). Lots of space inside and two patios. Recommendation pie 🥧 and lots of pints! Pie with chips or mash, veg and separate gravy £17 ish. Good size meal! This isn't a tourist trap place. The staff are cheerful and attentive we added to the tip jar to show our appreciation from us and our dog. (Clean, tidy bar and toilets, service is fast and friendly chatter, brought a clean fresh water bowl over for our dog ).

We passed this place lots of times and as we were passing by on a bike ride we decided to nip in on the off chance for a bank holiday Sunday lunch. The greeter/waitress was absolutely brilliant. She was friendly, helpfull and a total asset to the establishment. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and relaxing. And to top it off, the dinner was excellent. Food was hot, quality, plentiful and good value for money. We would definitely return and highly recommend.

It’s very rare nowadays that you get a sizeable Sunday lunch you will not be disappointed at the Robin Hood Baslow it’s amazing !

We were driving back from an afternoon in Bakewell and called in for a meal not knowing what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised. The sea bream cooked with prawns and samphire was beautifully flavoured and the slow cooked beef was delicious too. Service was friendly, efficient and quick. Thank you

Great food and service in great surroundings, and not expensive. Not far from Baslow and Chatsworth and so convenient for walks and views along Birchen Edge, Gardoms Edge as well as Chatsworth and Baslow Edge and many other nearby places to walk.

A quick but satisfying meal after a local walk over the hills, rocks and through the woods. The restaurant has 2 free tables when we arrived and ordering was quick. We had a chance to enjoy some chat time before the food arrived and it was brilliant. We ordered two burgers, which were big and very well cooked, great chips and the pleasant surprise was how tasty the homemade coleslaw was. Will definitely visit again. The only thing I’ll mention as a negative is that the menu says 2 courses for £20 on selected dishes but when we ordered I found this was only for a starter and main, it didn’t cover our 2 burgers as these were both main courses. The menu didn’t say this clearly… or I missed it.

Simon in particular was great, clearly a busy man but did everything he could to make the visit an enjoyable and relaxing one. Would highly recommend as the food is great.

Whole experience was just .. meh .. not great or even good, just.. meh.. atmosphere was mundane, with no actual happy customer service, manager behind bar taking orders gave no feeling of being grateful for your custom. Ordered 3 Crispy Chicken Sandwiches .. and that's how I asked for the order.. what turned up was 3 x Fish Fingers Sandwiches. No idea HOW it happened. The waiter that brought them out to the table I think genuinely hated his own life.. not an ounce of care. When he came back out with the third plate we let him know we had been given the wrong food. Very quietly he replied table 70? And that 3 sandwiches. Yes correct but we did order chicken. So he said he'd talk to the manager. No one came, no one corrected the order. 40 minutes! Wait for the food, isn't acceptable and to be wrong AND to feel not welcome. We got told cold to care as we were outside, so we ate what we were given and went. Far too long for the service of a small pub to take the time they did. And to have no explanation or the manager approach showed the attitude of the pub. Don't think we'll return again.

Bar staff not putting too much effort in. Chips overcooked and hard to eat today, not offered any sauces, vinegar etc. Main bar area empty at lunchtime, used to be busy. Bit lack lustre today. Will give it one more go .... if no good, will take a sausage roll for after my walk instead of giving Robin me shillins

Stopped off for lunch after walking round Linacre Reservoir. Amazing food - was far better than I hoped. Hot and tasty. we sat by the fire and felt very at home. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend. Ample food with very generous helpings.

Birthday lunch for my daughter after a walk around Chatsworth. I’d had to ring to say we were running late due to a 4 miler turning into nearly 7 (we always get lost), they were very polite and accommodating. Lovely roast lunch with veggies cooked to perfection and the puddings were just awesome- Bakewell and Sticky Toffee. We had also taken a cake without the intention of eating it but they brought us plates and a knife to cut it and this was before we ordered dessert. A cozy pub, friendly staff, lovely food. What more do you want.

This is a nice pub, in a great location for walks and other outdoor activity. It serves good basic pub food and the beers are kept well. Unfortunately, whats missing is a warm welcome from the staff. Whatever happened to greeting customers when they walk into your pub and a freindly What can I get for you?? On our lunchtime visit there were 2 staff visible, both of which were disinterested and unfriendly throughout and the service reflected the attitude of Im doing you a favour and I dont really want to be here. Here is some constructive advice, if you're going to work in hospitality then be hospitable.. otherwise get a job elsewhere where you dont need to be pleasant to people and to the management, work on your staff recruitment and training. Its not hard and customers should be able to expect more in 2024.

Very big portions of quality food, cooked perfectly. My eyes nearly fell out of my head when the pork chop was laid before me. Just delicious.

Visited this place recently on my birthday. It was a Monday evening so the place was very quiet. We made a reservation for 8PM but bad to go early as we got a call saying the last order for food will be closed by 7PM. The service was good with friendly server. I am a vegetarian, so had limited options to choose. Overall had a pleasant experience.

Great place. We stayed in Robin hood cottage which gave us 10% discount on our food in Robin hood Inn. We ordered risotto and burger vegetarian only along with some local beer and wine. Risotto was good in taste. Burger was okay. Ambience is amazingly warm and gives the actual country side feel. Would love to visit again.

Thoroughly enjoyed this lovely pub. We stayed in the Robin Hood Farm B&B a stones throw away. I believe there is a discount of 10% if you use the pub and stay at the farm but we were unaware of this at the time. However, lovey pub, food, and atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive. It does close quite early but to be expected for a rural location.

Stopped for a drink and a side after a big hike. Lovely relaxed vibe with music, staff were attentive and enjoyed the visit.

So friendly and the food excellent with a great selection of beers. We stopped for lunch while just driving past, so glad we did, a definite go back to place. Stopped again today just as good as always.

Wonderful food, great service, friendly helpful staff, best onion Bharji I've eaten ever, better than any I have had in an authentic Indian restaurant. Highly recommend a visit, you shouldn't be disappointed.

A nice looking pub in baslow. The table we were sat at was more like bench/booth but it was very high and even though I am 5ft 9in my feet couldn't reach the floor so personally would prefer a table and chair. It wasn't overly busy but our service was terrible, the lemonade had to be returned as it had a nasty taste to it like cabbage water. We waited over 50 mins for food and the female waitress was rude. When the food arrived one meal was not as we ordered. The rest of the food was fine and the beef was very tasty. The portions of carrots were rather small with just two slices of carrot. The pie was very nice and flavoursome. On the whole the food was OK but the poor service means we won't be returning.

This weekend, as part of a group of couples and kids, we went to the Robin Hood for a pre-ordered set menu Christmas lunch. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience! Our first course took over an hour to arrive, with no updates or apologies from staff until we tentatively asked. When it did finally arrive, the soup (which was actually very tasty) was served without spoons and the accompanying bread without any butter. Upon finishing the first course, we again waited approximately an hour for the main course to be served. The turkey dinners we received were basic, lacking any colour and not the standard you’d expect for the price. The turkey itself was very dry, with few vegetables (no carrots). When served, the team waiting on did not check or ask if we needed any extra cutlery or if we wanted any sauces - only one set of cutlery was initially provided and used by most on the starters, there wasn’t any salt or pepper on the table and we had to ask for cranberry sauce as they hurried off. There was again a lengthy delay whilst we waited for our desserts. When they did arrive (served with soup spoons, as they’d ran out of dessert spoons), they were basic, but all good sized portions. Aware of the lengthy delays between courses, we asked if the coffee and mince pies (included in the set menu) could be brought out with the desserts, expecting a specific order to be taken. Instead, we were all brought a coffee, a number of which just went to waste. The service overall was very poor, the team of two waiting on were totally fed up and just doing the bare minimum without any interaction. Whilst the pub was busy, it was not at capacity with a number of empty tables available and they certainly did not appear rushed off their feet. It’s no surprise that we don’t intend to return.

Really disappointed. We are not generally hard to please when it comes to eating out but to pre book a Christmas meal then have to wait for an hour on arrival and between each course. Not be offered spoons for soup, butter for bread, cranberry sauce for a turkey dinner… Serving staff were completely fed up and we just seemed to be an inconvenience to everyone there. It is understandably busy one week before Christmas but we booked in advance for this reason and got a really poor service and meal for quite a high price. The turkey dinner looked sad and was missing any carrots - some of them had a single piece of parsnip. Probably a lovely place if you’re there at the right place and time but we clearly were not.

This was not what we expected. 2lemonades were sent back they did not taste of lemonade. Waited 50 mins for food to arrive. One meal was incorrect and returned to kitchen to be corrected. All food was good apart from luke warm mashed potato. The male member of serving staff was pleasant and efficient but the female staff were miserable, unhelpful, abrupt and served grudgingly. Perhaps they would be better out of hospitality. This place needs a good shake up.

back to visit, after new management 2020, 1:20am on friday. the bar area much brighter than before. £18 for two courses during weekday lunch is value for money. the cheese board and fish were in generous portion. bar staff were friendly and now it has free wifi.

Excellent friendly and welcoming Inn. We dined here twice during our three day stay next door. Excellent food and service. We enjoyed both our visits. Plenty to choose from on the menu and caters for a variety of diets. Thank you for two lovely evenings. We will be back.

Called in for a lunchtime bite to eat while passing. Couldn't have been more impressed! Service was outstanding and the food was exceptional. The range of food on the menu was great. The starter and main courses we had were outstanding. We have already booked for Christmas based on this one experience. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thanks!

Visited last Friday and not impressed, definitely gone down hill. Atmosphere very cold, no seabream so ordered fish and chips to be told 20 mins later no fish and chips, and no other fish options. They do fish finger sandwiches but as it was after 5pm they wouldn't give us that option so we left without eating, not impressed at all. The staff didn't seem very happy either in their work either!!

We we're sat in the newer part of the pub and it was lunch time so it's wasn't buzzing. The front of the pub (old part) is really nice and I can imagine winter days spent in there.

Flat car park and entrance. There was a nice fire and nice and warm on a November evening. The staff were excellent very welcoming and professional. The meal was lovely served on hot plates straight from the kitchen. The sea bream was plentiful tasty and well presented the side of vegetables was hot and well cooked. The steak was cooked to a turn and very tasty. A very good experience around tonight.

Very disappointed, booked for Friday night tea, advised at start no seabream, which was a shame, so then ordered fish and chips, to then be advised ten minutes later no fish and chips available, and we were not allowed to have the fish finger sandwich as it was after 5pm!!! Clearly no flexibility despite them having no other fish options!! very poor management. Plus, not much of an atmosphere at all, not like it used to be. We left and got a lovely fish and chip takeaway. Will not be going back to Robin Hood again for a long time.

We had a great meal, thoroughly enjoyed the food and flavours were amazing! It was a stop gap when travelling from Scotland to Essex and we only had one night here and so glad we got to experience your food. Thank you!

SAVE YOUR MONEY After waiting nearly a hour for food the pie was a processed frozen pie. The chips was not cooked even though I ordered mash. The veg was not cooked. My son had ordered chicken nuggets and got chicken burger and had to wait for his food to be changed. Will not be coming here again a the wife was right we should of gone for a mc Donald's as would of been a better meal. And if you have the cheek to say the food is bad the staffs attitude soon changed.
