Me and my parents visited The Robin Hood on Sunday for Mothers Day and had such a great experience. The food was great, and catered perfectly for my Mum who is Gluten Free! A standout for us was Olivia our waitress, who was very helpful with the menu and also super happy and positive about how much she loved her job. What a great addition to your team, would definitely visit again. Thanks Guys & Olivia :)

I ordered the game pie, and my daughter and her friend both had the Robin Hood Burger. Everything was amazing, and serving sizes were generous. The manager treated every person and pet with respect and politeness. He brought bowls of water to dogs and treats to little kids. He had to be one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.

We were really looking forward to visiting post walk with our dog. Unfortunately, it took over an hour for 2 sandwiches. My partner had the steak baguette and it had 2 tiny pieces of steak in for £12. No apology from staff who seemed to be avoiding the restaurant floor. A real shame as there are lots of excellent places to eat nearby.

I've had some lovely meals here so expectations were high. Communication leading up to the meal had been positive and we'd provided a deposit as requested and had pre-ordered all meals. This was for a birthday celebration following a walk so we were keen for things to go smoothly. When we arrived our table wasn't ready so we had to wait for one to be cleared and were told we'd be taken to the table when it was ready. Nobody came back so we made our way there which was forgivable as it was busy... We then however waited 20 minutes for our drink order and about 30/40 minutes for our food. The staff seemed overwhelmed with other customers and it felt a bit chaotic and we did feel a bit neglected - a couple of drinks were forgotten. Apologies were given for the 'rush' of customers - but maybe more staff would help ease this issue. The food was generally good although the vegan version of the Wellington didn't represent good value as the yorkshire pudding was not replaced by other/extra veg or a few more roast potatoes, so that felt unfair as the portion was small when compared to others having the veggie version. I would go again but early for lunch on a Sunday and hope for a more efficient service and ferl a bit better cared for. The staff were generally nice and well-meaning but our experience that day didn't live up to expectations unfortunately.

My uncle and I have eaten here a few times now, after being out in the Peak District for a walk. The service is always friendly and we always feel well looked after. The food is excellent and keeps gets better each time. Portion sizes are perfect and are always satisfying. As a coeliac they cater for my dietary requirements far better than most other places I've been to, and there are plenty of options on the menu. There's no leaving the gluten containing items off the plate without replacing it for something else going on here! This has to be my new favourite pub in the Peak.

Ate here with my wife and two children (baby and toddler) and was welcomed as soon as we arrived. Server/barman was very nice and was brilliant with our daughter, clearly a very good father himself. He performed well at his role throughout our visit and seen to all our needs. Our food was faultless, major compliments to the chef!! We had the pie of the day (steak and ale) and the lamb stew, both of which were so tasty; both meats (steak and lamb) were tender and juicy. There was plenty of meat in both meals accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables and creamy mash. The pie casing/pastry was lovely too, crunchy but soft if that makes sense. We also ordered a side of thick cut chips to appease our daughter, they were lovely thick homemade chips- I wish I had more room in me to finish them. We did see other tables eating the fish finger sandwich which looked substantial and tasty, I could've easily ordered that too! We struggled to eat at the same time due to having two very young children (our son required bottle feeding) but the server quickly came over and offered to put my food under the hot lamp until my wife had finished hers; this allowed me to then enjoy my food hot- thankyou for this, greatly appreciated. All round great atmosphere and a warm welcoming venue. We shall definitely be back again to try the rest of the menu! We look forwards to seeing you guys again; thankyou :)

Stopped by on impulse at lunchtime. Excellent choice. Service was friendly and helpful and food was a treat. Cheeseburger had two patties, beanburger was subtly flavoured with cumin. Each was topped with cheese and accompanied by deliciously crisp fries, onion rings in an airy, crunchy batter, and a gloriously mustardy, not too oniony, red cabbage coleslaw. The lettuce and tomato were equally fresh and the brioche buns were more than generous. There are a number of 'walks from the door' of the pub, of varying lengths. I'd recommend you do the walk first and refuel here afterwards; would be an effort to haul this lot up a hill with me! Definitely won't be needing dinner - and I couldn't even manage the bottom half of my brioche. Heartily recommend.

Genuinely sad to leave a 1star review as the staff were lovely. Best advice is don’t order a starter and you will be fine. We order starters and then had to wait over an hour and 15 minutes for the main to arrive and had to remind them that we were waiting a few times before the main finally arrived. Everyone was lovely and the food was good but the £5 reduction on the bill of £160 was insult to injury and left rather a bad taste. We missed precious time outdoors on a rare sunny February due to the massive delay.

I would like to say I was quite disappointed with the food and the service. Table of 6 with two children. Any review should always come with some advice for establishments to be able to build on. However it seems that others have had similar if not identical issues that have not been addressed in the recent year. - The food was clearly rushed, this lead to burned buns and undercooked chips - The time between meals and drinks was way too long. It was almost 1 hour before we had to ask where the food might be, we were told it was being plated up and this still took 15 more minutes. - The service needs to be more cheery and attentive, the male in particular seemed like he did not want to be there. - The steak sandwich was not at all well designed or edible. The steak was in large cubes and the bread had not been toasted, the caramelised onion was not present. - the prices of the meals were not reflective in the portion size or quality. Overall the potential for this pub to do well with is very good with a Lovley setting and cozy building. However it has been let down by the lack of attention in the food catering and service. If you are looking for a small bite and a drink or two, then this is the place to go. However if you wish to eat a larger meal I do hope the owners take on board the comments made by many people in time for you to eat there.

Food passible, though lacking in veg. Not much of an atmosphere, I wouldn't go again. Perhaps we had a bad day. Adding to my review, Robin Hood just replied stating we were late, we weren't late at all, booked in for 1.30pm I was there at 1.20pm with my daughter and grandson, we stood for 5 minutes waiting for someone to notice us, when they did come out it was to ask if we needed the toilet. I gave the party information so they knew we were there, I was told there had been a rush on, so we sat and waited an hour. Put rating down a star as I am not having them blame us.

Having been here twice before and enjoyed the vegetarian roast, I was really looking forward to our visit today. Unfortunately the food really was a let down. The vegetarian roast was sold to me as glazed aubergine, coated in pumpkin seeds and oats but I was served 2 slices of aubergine with chillies on the top. There were no roast potatoes or stuffing as advertised and the 2 miniscule pieces of parsnip and carrot were pointless. My partners roast beef dinner portion was also underwhelming. I'm not sure what has happened to the Sunday lunch but it really seems to have gone downhill. Service was good as always but I don't think we'll back for Sunday lunch.

The actual meal I ordered was a steak and onion sandwich but I realised afterwards that there were no onions in what I'd eaten but oddly there had been a slice of cheese. Not what I had seemingly ordered but a lesson to me to take more notice of what's served up. It won't stop me from revisiting though as the food is good quality otherwise.

Arrived back at 6.20pm, went to the pub and bought a couple of drinks. “Are you eating with us?” “Yes, please.” “I’ll set up a tab and bring you over a menu.” Background conversation. “Oh, sorry, no more food.” Needless to say, drank up quickly and left No explanation about why there was no more food, even though people with booked tables arrived to eat while we there. We hadn’t booked, so if we had been told it wasn’t possible to eat straight away that would have been better. It was having our hopes raised, only to be told there was “no more food” that leads to this rating.

We had a lovely meal on Saturday 21st September. My daughter found it on Google after a walk on Baslow edge. Goggling dog friendly and gluten free pubs. What a find. We sat on a table which had a padded little edge our dog snuggled up, and he was given a bowl of water(next time we will be ordering him his own beef steak burger) We are a family of 4. We ordered a steak and ale pie which my daughter wolfed down, she said it was beautiful and she throughly enjoyed it. I ordered a gluten free steak burger, unfortunately the gluten free fryer was broken so I was unable to have chips, they checked with me what I wanted to do have a chips from the fryer which had batter in, or have new potatoes or mash. I choose the mash I could have eaten a plate of that alone it was yummy. The burger was lovely too. My husband and other daughter also ordered the steak burger with a portion of onion rings and both were very impressed. We checked to ensure the burger had no onion/garlic in and our dog certainly enjoyed his little offerings also. We also had puddings, I had gluten free sticky toffee pudding and asked for extra sauce and it is hands down the best I have had. My daughters shared the cheesecake which they said was amazing and my husband polished off his toffee and banana pudding. As we left we registered for a loyalty card 🙈 we will certainly be visiting this little gem of a find again.

Sadly all the main courses had a school meals look to them, very much thrown on the plate. The topside and the pork loin were tasteless and the pork over cooked and quite tough. What a lovely pub. We had a lovely evening meal, the food was delicious with the portions being very generous. We enjoyed it enough to return a couple of days later to try the breakfast and were not disappointed. On both occasions the staff were great. Would certainly recommend visiting at any time of the day

Stopped by the Robin Hood for a meal on Friday lunchtime in early September. Brilliant service (really welcoming staff) and food, everything tasted really fresh. We sat in the back room, which has really nicely decorated. Looking forward to the next visit 😃

Stopped off after a three hour trek and enjoyed the best piece of Lamb with veg that I have eaten for years. Highly recommended 😁

What an undiscovered gem. Friendly efficient service - and we were accommodated at ten minutes' notice - and superb food. Recommend the very tasty smoked mackerel pate, and I think the bread is baked in the kitchen.

We had to wait 1 hour for our food & the restaurant wasn’t even full. Our food arrived OVER COOKED, to their credit (after speaking with the General Manager David) the problem was resolved with the food now hot, fresh & cooked to perfection! Credit to David, who acted in a very professional & polite manner. Thank you.

A dire experience I'm afraid. Ordered walnut, beetroot and feta starter but instead of walnuts the chef had imaginatively substituted sweet honeycomb! They do look a little similar i suppose. I had ordered steak burger for main , my partner the steak and fries. Just about the worst burger I've ever tasted ( and I've eaten a lot). The steak would have been more use to a cobbler. Soggy chips and 2 day old coleslaw accompanied .We both ate a small amount and gave the rest to our delighted dogs. Walked back up Gardoms Edge hungry and feeling ripped off. Actually sent an email to the pub when we got home but they haven't bothered to reply. I can think of much better ways to waste 40 quid. We waited over an hour for that to make it worse

We spontaneously stopped for lunch here on a journey in Derbyshire, and were very glad we did. We were lucky to get a table as it seems very popular and most other people had reserved a table. The food was delicious and quickly served. Out waitress was attentive and friendly. I had the ploughman's sandwich which was excellent.

Good place to start or finish a walk in the beautiful Peak District. Lovely little Pub. Good ales and great food. Finished a walk around Chatsworth and Baslow via Birchen edge. Had a pint of shandy and a spicy buttermilk chicken sandwich. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend a visit.

Fairly average, nothing inspiring for fish and chips but totally let down by not getting the salt and vinegar I asked for. I couldn't really get to the flavour without the salt. The food would have been cold by the time I got back to rectify it. I hate leaving a bad review but it was really disappointing. Friendly service though.

A lovely pub with friendly staff, who were particularly welcoming and kind to our dog. The food was simple but tasty and extremely good value. We had Bradfield beers on tap which were delicious.

Popped in for a refreshing drink after a stroll around the town. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. A great range of drinks and although we didn’t eat…the food looked amazing! The beer garden area was bright and cheerful with plenty of seating. We stall definately pop in again and hopefully try the Sunday lunch too ☺️

Great place to stay, would come here again. After seeing quite a few negative reviews, we were nervous about staying here, but we only have positive comments to make - lovely cosy little room, great shower, nice view over the village. Downstairs in the bar area looks really nice. We stayed on a Friday and it was lovely and quiet, no bands. I had no problem booking through wowcher (although I had to phone to sort it after having no reply via email). All staff friendly and accommodating. Had a lovely breakfast before we left and the owner was happy to let us leave the car for a few hours so that we could do a walk to Milldale (also asked if we needed directions).
