We walked around a went in as we liked the menu options and the food did not let itself down, beautiful prawn sandwiches, milkshakes and tea. The ground floor is in desperate need of modernisation and decorations to make it more inviting, the menu holders looked years old and quite grubby, old fridges standing around and looked generally unloved, otherwise would be 5 stars

Gorgeous little cafe, friendly and welcoming staff & an excellent breakfast! All with lovely views of the river what more could you ask for. Oh, and they’re dog friendly! We took our boxer dog in and they even offered him treats. A little gem in a gorgeous town, must visit!

Sit upstairs to get a good view of the river and the town. The location of the cafe is its plus point. There are many places alongside the river which would be better suited to enjoy this busy part of town if you can manage a seat by the riverside. But considering it was winter we preferred the warmth of this cafe for our afternoon tea.

While the cafe is nicely placed offering views of the river from upstairs, several aspects were disappointing. Firstly no flexibility with the vegetarian breakfast options. Secondly no wifi. Thirdly it was a tad overpriced. When we visitedThe Riverside Cafe a few years ago the experience was mch better than today.

First visit in four years (since the plague) still a great cafe in a great location with a great cook....perfectly poached eggs on toast with bacon and a mug for my tea (I cant stand itty bitty teacups). Glad to see they are still going strong.

We decided to take our family for breakfast here, having been there as a couple many times before. I must say I was very disappointed this time, both the bacon and sausage was hard and over cooked and the baked beans didn’t seem the same brand as before. The whole traditional breakfast was warm and the plates cold. Perhaps it was just a blip, but we did go twice and nothing had changed on the second visit. Not sure if we will return. Which is a pity.

Nice little cafe, with nice views over the town and river...you can have a lovely lunch whilst watching the "influencers" try and get that perfect pic, always good for a laugh. The Ploughman's was absolutely wonderful.

Had a lovely lunch during a day trip. My husband's Ploughman's lunch would have fed two of us - great value. I had ham salad sandwiches with salad and crisps - lovely granary bread.

Unfortunately we were let down with a booking we had made elsewhere in Bourton for my 60th Birthday lunch. This café absolutely came up trumps in sorting out a table for us after a short wait and saved the day!! The food we had was incredible and all the staff were amazing and friendly. A huge thank you from us all. We will be back!!

Absolutely brilliant cafe. We went as a family with a coeliac daughter who's 6. We spoke with the serving staff about this, the reassured us that they have gluten free bread, her food would be prepared on a separate counter with separate utensils and that the butter and cheese would be separate to those in use for other lunches. Daughter loved being able to order just like her brother and not having to eat our backup lunch we always have to bring, just in case. The bread was amazing, especially for gluten free bread! And they had a gluten free cake option available too! Can't praise you enough for your understanding of her illness. The rest of us also enjoyed our lunches. Great portions, all very tasty and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit.

Just spent two great weeks in Bourton and had four wonderful breakfasts at the Riverside. Excellent foods and great staff, so friendly. Even the Dog got a sausage each time. Highly recommended, well done Riverside.

This is alway the first place we visit when on our holiday in Bourton, really dog friendly. You are always greeted with a smile and nothing is to much trouble for all the staff. The breakfast is tip top, all fresh ingredients served up piping hot and really good sized portions. Great value for the money and yes we will back back lots more times before we go back home.

Lovely little cafe with lunch items such as panini’s, soups and salads. The staff was superb! Great place for a break.

This place has the rudest and racist wait-staff. If you are white, then you are offered to either dine-in or take a takeaway. If you are non-white, then you will only be offered takeaway. One of their wait staff is also extremely rude and shouts at non-white customers. Stay away from this restaurant unless you want to experience the worst dine-in experience.

Nice cafe, sitting upstairs in the warmth looking out of the windows at the snow! The all day breakfast was great, especially as they offered us a hash brown when we declined the mushrooms on the menu! Good food and good service.

Went there three times during a nine day stay in Bourton. I couldn't fault the food, staff, friendliness and just about everything at this venue. Very Dog friendly they even cooked him a sausage! From full English to poached eggs, every breakfast was excellent and came well presented and hot. If you have not been here, give it a try, its worth it and very reasonable.

Delightful cafe in the scenic town of Bourton on the Water. Famous for it's Ice Creams of which there are many flavours. The Cherry Bakewell flavor is delicious, even has real jam in it!

We arrived with my 92 year old Mum and after being offered a table upstairs we enquired about having a downstairs table due to concerns about Mum's ability to climb the stairs. The waitress reluctantly said that the was a table that had just been vacated dowstairs but would have to be cleaned before we could sit there. We enquired about how far up the stairs went and the waitress was visibly rolling her eyes and obviously did not have a care in the world about Mum's well bearing! We agreed to go upstairs and were showed to a table that, on inspection of the chairs found they were covered in crumbs, so we moved to another. When the waitress returned to take our orders, I enquired whether the paninis and bread we diary free. She said "I don't know". I then asked her to enquire which she reluctantly did and returned saying that the info they had said "may contain milk". I asked if they were diary free as the menu stated that there was a vegan option. She said that they were gluten free and clearly demonstrated further that she had no idea of the differences. Her indifferences and redness continued but we stayed and finished our meal and drinks, albeit this ruined what was otherwise a lovely day in the town. I / we would not be returning and my comments would be further replicated to my cyclists contacts and network.A final concern was that none of the staff were wearing facemasks. I wished we had just walked out!

I would definitely recommend this little gem when visiting Bourton on the Water. Staff were polite and friendly and soon squeezed us in upstairs. Food was excellent and a bargain, you'd pay a lot more for a lot less elsewhere. We both had the larger breakfast and it was cooked to perfection. My only regret is not leaving a tip as I had no change. Excellent place!

When we got there the staff were sanitizing the tables which is always a good sign. Lovely little spot - and ideal for a drink, ice cream, or snack and watching the world go by.

For a day out, we went to Bourton on the Water and after a good walk around, needed a light lunch. Excellent cups of coffee and I had a very nice Tuna sandwich which arrived with crisps and a salad garnish. It was a meal!

Surprisingly very good lunch. We were not sure what to expect as cafe nothing special to look at however we were pleasantly surprised at the lovely lunch we had. Called in for a sandwich and cup of tea late afternoon. It was a little off putting as the woman is quite abrupt and unwelcoming but we were offered a table downstairs and ordered. Surprisingly the food was very good, well presented and reasonably priced.

What an absolute rip off! Just under £20 for 2 takeaway paninis and 2 hot drinks. Parma and mozzarella panini was very poor to say the least. Staff were lovely but sadly that’s the only positive I can say about our visit. We appreciate times are difficult as businesses are trying to recover from covid restrictions but charging extortionate prices for a very poor product is not the way to go.

We stopped here purely because we couldn't find anywhere else, we had dogs so I wrongly assumed a small cafe wouldn't allow them but they did. They are a dog friendly cafe, although dogs aren't allowed upstairs. My two even got given a dog biscuit (free).I ordered a tuna panini, it was lovely, came with a nice looking salad. My parents ordered a ploughman's which again looked well presented. We ordered a ham sald sandwich but a ham salad came out instead. We didn't mind so kept it. Again it was presented well. The only thing is with the ploughman's you got a thick slice of bread, but when the salad came out we asked for a slice of bread as it wS suppose tobe a sandwich, we got a thin piece, not as good. We all had cakes, again delicious. All in all we had a nice meal here. Plus side is they allow dogs.

Este lugar no ofrece nada especial. Pedimos la empanada, que venía y parecía que la habían aplastado, ¡esperando que estuviera fresca! ! También pedí huevos escalfados sobre una tostada con una guarnición de frijoles horneados (los frijoles nos dijo la camarera 50 p extra, pero en la caja nos cobraron 1, no nos dimos cuenta hasta que nos fuimos) los huevos escalfados estaban exagerados y duros y la presentación no fue buena. El café, de nuevo no es especial, parece ser una falta de orgullo en la cocina y la presentación, muy decepcionante.El día de nuestra visita, los baños estaban sucios con moho negro en las ventanas y el asiento muy sucio.Primero nos pidieron que nos sentáramos abajo, pero nos pusieron en las escaleras donde había muchas pisadas y polvo y suciedad proveniente de los pies de los clientes y del personal, nos aventuramos arriba donde había 3 mesas libres, pero aún así nos regañaron como niños.En general, dejó un mal sabor de boca y no volveremos, ¡hay muchos otros lugares en Bourton!

Hacía 25 grados y nunca había visto tanta gente en el área, fue una locura, especialmente con la situación actual, ¡no lo recomendaría en un día caluroso! Habíamos reservado una mesa para el brunch en caso de que otros estuvieran ocupados y también muchos dejaron de servir temprano. Las críticas aquí fueron realmente buenas, así que lo seguimos.Probablemente debería haber confiado en mi instinto cuando llegamos, pero no quería caminar sin rumbo fijo cuando todo estaba lleno de gente.Pedimos desayuno inglés y era pobre, los huevos revueltos eran como cartón sin sabor alguno. La porción era grande, si eso es lo que quieres, pero la comida en el plato era horrible. Dejé la mitad. Los hongos parecían haber sido hervidos. El café tampoco era bueno.

Passing through on holiday. Popped in for breakfast. First cafe we have visited for 4 months. Very impressed with the Covid instructions but even more impressed with the food. Full breakfast, 2 bacon sandwiches and a tea cake all good quality and excellent value.

Llamado a este café bien ubicado para almorzar durante una visita a Bourton on the Water. Estaba ocupado, sobre todo porque se redujo el número de mesas para permitir el distanciamiento social, pero logramos conseguir una mesa cerca de la entrada y así disfrutar del aire fresco. El servicio del joven personal fue excelente y pronto comenzamos un gran desayuno (yo) y un almuerzo de labrador (esposa), junto con una taza de té. La comida era deliciosa y, dada la ubicación, no está mal. Recomendaríamos este café para un bocado rápido.

We visited here two out of our three day holiday, with gluten free cake twice, once to take away, and my husband tried the non-gf cream tea. Very pleasant tea, very good Covid hygiene, lovely moist gf cake and a pleasant team of staff.

Great bar restaurant for a quick lunch or beer.Nice and relaxing atmosphere with good and fast service. Its also an ideal location for working on your laptop or meeting point with your friends. Prices are quite reasonable and there is a great choice of beers and wine.

Arrived very cold and hungry en route to our holiday cottage. Received the warmest of welcomes from all the staff, ordered breakfasts and settled upstairs at a window table with a view. Pot of tea was bought to us very quickly followed by piping hot freshly cooked food, all delivered with lovely smiles. Everything was absolutely delicious and very filling! Thank you to all the lovely ladies, you and your food are a credit to the business.

The Riverside is a friendly and well-run cafe, which offers a varied menu at reasonable prices. The quality of the food and drink is consistently good. The toilets are clean, perhaps because they are for paying customers, and not for non-customers who are unwilling to pay the 20p required for the nearby public toilets.

Super breakfast without the tourist prices of most locals cafes. Coped well with MLW's lactose free diet without a fuss. Wish my doctor would let me have the fry up more often

We were early in the area, 10 minutes prior opening but they allowed us in with our chocolate labrador which was lovely. We grabbed a seat and the place soon filled up with the locals which is a sure sign. The breakfast was excellent along with the warm and friendly service.

Estaba buscando un menú en la pared, pero la joven se sentó en una mesa con sus compañeros (todo el personal) dijo "hay menús en las mesas" en un tono sarcástico. Opté por un sándwich tostado y té y me senté arriba. Su charla estridente e inapropiada se podía escuchar claramente arriba.

Staying locally in a cottage, called for breakfast. Friendly welcome by staff, plenty of seating downstairs and also upstairs. Was told we could go upstairs if we wanted for a nicer view and warmer but we were fine. Two of us ordered the larger breakfast and one standard - all served promptly and piping hot. Coffee was very nice too.

Got a table upstairs in the window. The view watching the world go by is lovely. We had scones with cream and jam, pot of tea and coffee. The drinks were good and we thoroughly enjoyed the view from an enviable position, however, sadly the scones were dry and stale with barely enough cream. Cafe is lovely and clean, but I couldn’t recommend the scones.
