The Riverside in Chesterfield

Fantastic venue for a retirement party. The service from start to finish was excellent. Bar staff were very efficient and there was no queuing even though there were 150 people at the party. Cannot fault the place.

Decided to try the Riverside for Sunday lunch on 28/07/24. The decor is very nice after the flooding of 2023. Staff were very pleasant. Unfortunately i cannot say anything good about the Sunday lunch. The meat was okay but the accompanying vegetables, yorkshire pudding, potatoes and gravy were not upto scratch. The potatoes were very lumpy and had the consistency of glue. Roasts were very soft. Parsnips were tastless and hard and the stuffing balls did not taste very nice. Carrots and sprouts were okay. The cauliflower was served in a very thin 'cheese' sauce. At £9.95 for an adult i suppose it is cheaper than cooking a roast with all the trimmings yourself but the quality just wasn't there. A shame really because we would be retuning if the meal was up to scratch.

Really enjoyed our dinner today and football,really busy busy today staff was working so hard to please everyone as there was a customer who was verbally harassing staff and other customers over them putting football on.Even other customers was trying to help out…..great staff team and a lovely venue…

Went for a carvery with family and friends we all had a carvery and ordered a sausage and chips for my son as well as a coffee for myself the coffee took nearly 20min to arrive after standing for 10min at the bar I was told they would bring it over as for the carvery itself absolutely no service whatsoever the chef was in the other room serving while 2 bar staff was stood in the food room doing absolutely nothing (not even the coffee i was waiting for about 15min by then) people started to help themselves to the meat as they got sick of waiting when the chef finally arrive and we got our food roughly 45min after ordering i realised my sons sausage and chips hadnt arrived when we asked the bar staff they went into the kitchen and walked out with it meaning it must have been stood a while the food itself was shocking and the saussage and chip was a poor serving one saussage and roughly 10 chip £5 overall i can honestly say we wont be going back and its a shame really as i used to enjoy my time there years ago

Carvery on Sunday is delicious. Good choice of vegetables cooked well. Meat is tender. Friendly staff very helpful. Good value for money.

The Riverside - Chesterfield A large food serving bar approachable over an awkward overpass and extremely disappointing in lacking any real ales, reducing seasoned drinkers to having to make do with junk like John Smiths. The food I saw being served looked lovely and I went in to meet with friends and dine there but the poor drinks selection choices soon drove me off elsewhere instead. My friends also left. A big bar area, so plenty of room for a few cask lines. Arthur Chappell

Arriving for a family party, this venue proved more than adequate for a modest event. Regulars were on the other side enjoying their evening. Very friendly bar staff. Drinks well priced. Toilets exceptionally well refurbished. Arrive early as the car park is both few in number of spaces and spacing between those that are there. Satnav finds location well from postcode.

I have visited this place several times before and enjoyed a carvery. Today, not fancying a dinner, I ordered the 8oz gammon. It looked lovely when it arrived but didn’t taste great at all. I couldn’t eat it and my little girl didn’t enjoy it either. We are gammon lovers. There chips were nice but not many on the plate. I did mention it to the waitress and she said she would tell the kitchen staff but I never got a response. In no way at all looking for a freebie but would have been nice to have had my displeasure addressed. Decided not to stay for dessert.

We visited this pub for Sunday lunch. It wasn't what I expected. Cheap price so I suppose value for what we paid. We just chose the wrong place for us.

Nice Sunday carvery very nice but drinks to expensive I beleive I paid over £3/25 for John smiths far to much and it wasn’t even a good pint. But meal was ok. Sweet I didn’t like and that was expensive and didn’t get a lot n

Often call for a meal. Always come away stuffed. Great value delicious food. Best chips in Chesterfield. Friendly staff.

Car park outside but is a popular place so was quite full.They had slimming world meeting in one side and salsa dancing in the other.Served quickly. Had hunters chicken which could be served with chips or jacket potato. Very nice either way.Nice day so we sat outside. Reasonably priced and enjoyed the evening.

As not shown on website suddenly found u18s not allowed in to the "family club" #joke told to go home with respect we found a better host and do not recommend this poor venue😩

Positively mouth-watering - not worth slavering over a hot stove & then having to do your own washing-up, at that cheap price might as well leg it down to old Michael's bar and buy yourself a succulent Sunday dinner!!!! Their honey-roast parsnips, Yorkshire puds and meats are to die for.....Always come out stuffed ,even with a 'small' portion...
