Costa Coffee in Chesterfield

I feel like some reviews are for the Costa opposite Tesco and some are for the one inside the Tesco ? My review is for the one inside Tesco . Yes the windows are a little dirty so they are spoiling the view of the busy road and the homeless man having a fag down below ??? So what get a life ! The windows are Tesco anyway not Costa . We come here every week and the staff are lovely and coffee always great . Served by Julie and Sharon today I think both lovely ladies . I like this Costa everyone should just stop moaning

Walked into this branch in Chesterfield and looked around for a free table. It wasn't busy but three tables had dirty trays and the floor under the free table had food all over it. Found another table but had to move a dirty tray. Asked for a teacake but guess what none at lunchtime. Their cold drinks are expensive and like watered down sickly pop(won't make that mistake again) yuk! There were two girls serving both ambling about and over the 20 minutes we were there not one table was cleared and it was virtually empty. What we noticed as well was how filthy the whole place was. Our tray was disgusting with dried coffee on it obviously never been wiped. There was food all over the carpets and floor, the windows were filthy and the sills disgusting with food crumbs. Was it a currant or a dead fly hard to tell and I didn't look too closely .The least you expect is basic hygiene but it was sadly lacking in this branch. These girls serving today are so lazy they've no pride in where they work. Where is the manager? The state of this branch and the service provided today was unacceptable, it's no wonder it was empty. Costa you need to sort out your employee's because some of them seem to get away with being slow and lazy, and this is not the first time we've encountered staff like this at one of your branches in Chesterfield. Costa a cafe with high prices, poor hygiene, filthy branches and lazy staff.

The rocky road I received was the most revolting thing I’ve ever tasted. It didn’t even taste of cooking oil I cannot even describe that odd taste it had. I wouldn’t even feed it to a dog, yuk repulsive!

Many Costa have staff who do not have regard to customer service. Lockoford Lane was complete opposite. Staff welcoming and focused on quality of service. Warm happy atmosphere made my experience an absolute pleasure. First class, ladies. No sauce needed on my bacon roll, but you all checked to make sure!!! THANKYOU

The staff are wonderful always welcoming and cannot do enough for you they are lovely young ladies my husband and I think the staff are first class and we visit every afternoon 7 days a week we cannot say enough lovely things about them all 10 out of 10.costa at 550159lockoford Lane Chesterfield.

Went in today, first time in 6 months, and disappointed the WiFi still not working. Friendly staff tell me they get lots of complaints about this but the owners do not seem concerned. I’d guess it’s been out of action for well over 12 months which means many folk avoid this place for that reason. Pity

As previously stated, this is the worst Costa I have ever visited - more expensive than other Costas, no free wi-fi, staff not very friendly, looked dirty and not looked after.

Dropped in for a quick cappuccino, enjoyed the drink. Staff were chatty. The windows were full of condensation which gave the cafe a dingy appearance.

This has to be the worst Costa in the UK, Floors covered in old food desperately needs a Hoover, no heating on, windows full of condensation, Damp at the bottom of the Windows.

Called in for a coffee on Sat 20th Jan with my partner for a coffee and a chat. Sat there happily chatting and enjoying the coffee and subsequently stayed for quite a while. Today (25th) in the post I received a £100 parking fine for stopping longer than 1 hour. What an absolute disgrace and what a scam by the parking company. So make sure you gulp down your coffee quick, don't get comfortable and enjoy the place, and don't even think of visiting KFC afterwards. I will never be visiting here ever again.

coffee came stone cold, n certainly not the size I was expecting, what happened to the sizes they sell inside the shop. wanted medium n got small instead. will stick to in-store from now on. driver was friendly.

Was a nice place to meet up and have a catch up and drink with family. Service was good and polite, the latte was nice and a decent. Plenty of snacks and nibbles to chose from too. A nice cosy place.

Small carpark as it is shared with the neighbouring KFC, we walked in and had the Terry's hot chocolate orange. Delish! Friendly staff but get there early if you want a sandwich for lunch :)

Occasionally the drinks aren't piping hot but the girls who work there are lovely and full of manners excellent place for a coffee!

I ordered 2x Brie & Bacon Paninis, I only received 1. The 1 Brie & Bacon Panini I received was poor, hardly any filling. Also ordered an iced latte which come in a straw cup and did not receive a straw.

WARNING. £100 FINE UNLESS YOU DOWN THAT PIPING HOT COFFEE. Don't let the comfy seats fool you. Costa don't want you hanging around. Check the parking notices and you'll see you only get 60 minutes to park. If you want to take your time and/or enjoy multiple drinks and snacks.... Well then, Costa would like you to eff off and take your loitering elsewhere. If Costa read this. You guys were great, the problem is Civil Enforcement parking... Please tell them to extend the parking time and stop ripping off your customers.

Lovey only thing was not enough bacon on the brie and smoked bacon panini, and not enough ham on the cheese and ham toasties, could barely find the meat on both, otherwise was still tasty

Overall service was poor, the 2 woman serving today look fed up and clearly didn't want to be there, lacking basic warmth unless calling people duck counts.

I ordered creamy Mac and cheese for my friend who’s got braces and can only eat soft food and I ordered the pizza wrap and 2 drinks. About 10 mins after the order was placed, I got a call letting me know the food we ordered was out of stock, but that I can pick some more items they have in the fridge. Because my friend has braces, we couldn’t just decide on the spot without relooking at the menu so I said can we just get a refund. She said she can send the 2 drinks out and refund the food. We didn’t fancy paying £2.50+ delivery just for 2 bottles drinks so said no can we get a refund please, thinking they can do it their side (as no mention otherwise), she said yeah and put phone down. I checked the delivery status a bit later and it showed out for delivery. I called costa back to say I didn’t want the order as it was out of stock? It was a different person this time who answered and she said we have to do the refund through Costa. The drinks were delivered (which we had said we don’t want and had already ordered food elsewhere), so we paid £2+ delivery for 2 bottled drinks. I have put a refund claim in but still no refund from just eat.

Came at 5.30 with 2 friends for a chat, was told main area closed as they had to mop. Doesn't close until 7pm. We had already ordered and spent in excess of £30 and not one table was available for us to sit together. All the seats available in a line were two seaters. No view as some barrrier been put up. The two women proceeded to mop next to us. Push trolleys with lord knows what around and left door to staff room open with all its clutter on show. Dreadful experience, will never return. Staff miserable and very rude, allowed no time, we stepped in and was asked what we wanted straightaway, we hadn't approached counter, I cannot fathom how these people are allowed to work with the public

Jess the manager was extremely rude.. no manners. Would be better off as a sergeant in the army. No people skills… monotone voice with no enthusiasm , no smile..thought it acceptable to TELL. you where to stand , where not to stand and Tell you where to stand to pay. Just hard and Robotic, clearly something wrong with her which was brought to work. A please and thank you would’ve helped. Had to explain that I couldn’t follow her commands to go and stand in a certain place as I had to keep an eye on my husband who has dementia…. No reaction .. a disgrace !!

I didn't eat but my americano was perfect.

Wasn't very busy and the staff was talking why we were waiting to be served, I never got greeted and there were tables that needed clearing off all over. The windows had loads of condensation and the window sills was wet and rotten. Deffently needs a refurb.

Be aware. A visit to Costa resulted not only in a hefty price tag for food , cake and coffee but also in a parking fine as we were there for more than 60 mins. Will not be returning.

Always a pleasure to visit. Friendly helpful fast and efficient staff. Usual good standard of coffee and delicious toast. But most importantly the loo was clean and fresh smelling something other coffee shops are lax about. Well done to all concerned. A pleasure to revisit.

£4.15 for a medium size takeaway coffee! server took my order and disappeared in the back never to return, I had to wait until another member of staff asked if I was being served before my drink was eventually prepared....

Cinnamon buns dry latte only warm and both overpriced. Toilets only adequate only one mixed and not spotless floor wet around toilet brush with sink too low.

It would have got 5 stars but its getting so expensive, especially when you consider there's not much difference in taste etc between Costa and Greggs or Maccy's but Greggs and Macky's are half the price and definitely not half the flaunting so Costa needs to be careful because everyone will end up defecting to Greggs and Macky's for their coffee

Ordered a large cappuccino, and when it was to a drinkable temperature, the drink had disintegrated to about half a cup and was average at best.. £4 that was, never going there again! Could probs get a better quality cup of coffee with more in it at half the price at greggs 😂

Staff were lovely, but didn’t mention the parking thing and it was dark when I arrived so didn’t see any signs. Now I have a parking fine. Have asked Costa to sort it, hope they do as I can take against folk. Last time I got a fine I didn’t use the Co-op for 15 years…

The toasted sandwiches were like rubber. Cold and just awful. Cakes and drinks were great, but considering the toasties were expensive, it’s unacceptable.

Met a friend for coffee here. No problem parking. The service was good, staff are friendly.

NOT HAPPY! I went to Costa the other week and parked in the carpark opposite. I put my reg plate into their permit system so parking would be covered throughout my time in there. Only to receive a £40 fine a week later - I appealed this and Costa never provided my permit to ParkingEye. Times are hard enough without having to pay out this kind of money. Shall not be returning.

It hasn't arrived at all, marked as nearby for over an hour and then didn't arrive, no contact number at all

drinks arrived smelling incredibly strongly of cigarettes which was incredibly off putting, and not appetising in the slightest. Not hygienic for food to be delivered in a car that someone is smoking in.

Driver did not get out of the car to hand over the bags

Friendly staff , kept the tables sanitized, fresh hot coffee, more pressure on the staff they have now got To charge for extra butter for the toast & pupachinoes, glad to see it’s let rip You off for every penny we can time . Glad to see there looking after the regular, will not be a regular for much longer

Slow service. Toilets not clean.

Oh dear. Filthy coffee shop. Empty cups on every table. Smelly horrible toilets with urine all over the floor. Didn't look like it had been cleaned...ever!! Young ginger hair lad behind the counter was rude. No staff weren't happy. Made to feel uncomfortable. No WiFi either. Grotty..avoid!!

Order two coffees with two different milks neither have been labelled so unsure which is which very poor when it’s an allergen! Requested 3 sugars for each coffee received 0. No point getting it fast if it’s not right.

My order should have been 2 bacon rolls, salted caramel brownie and large caffeinated latte with caramel syrup. I got 2 sausage baps and a millionaire shortbread. My coffee was right. There was no explanation on receipts I double checked everything which clearly showed what I should have received. Didn’t bother to follow up with Costa or just eat as never get a response or refund. It’s a great shame that some businesses don’t take pride in what they do and aren’t bothered about delivering decent customer service.

Delivery was on time and the driver was very polite. Amazing food and drinks!! Just the pick me up that I needed at work!!

It was just what we needed a pit stop. It wasn't too busy and we stayed about an hour.

Absolutely discussing you go in there for lunch and drink then the next thing them and kfc give you a parking charge of a £ 100 if paid bye 14 day's it be £60 so there both getting double money for you eating in there restaurants and given you a parking charge. Please beawre of this don't go there if do park some where else not be double charged bye them . KFC & COSTA COFFEE.

Disappointing. There was a time when you could nip out for a quick coffee. Not with Costa. I was lucky, I got there just before the queue formed. Even so, it took ages to get served. The staff didn't seem very interested in their jobs and didn't look very happy. I saw various cups stacked on the coffee maker and I honestly thought they were there for cleaning because of the state of them but then one was picked up and used to make a coffee with! Gross. Costa charge a lot of money for their food and drink but they don't give a even a fair service in return. I won't be going back.

I asked for chocolate dusting on my white hot chocolate never got put on also I asked for the sharing butter shortbread they sent caramel waffles instead
