A mouth watering delight of carefully selected and cooked vegetables. Rolling dishes of exquisite food, sourdough, beetroot borane, melon & cucumber together with broccoli to start, then patty pan, cauliflower and Batavia lettuce. Delicious. Thank you

Love the idea that they grow all the ingredients in their garden . Had brunch there recently much of the food was lovely but I found the poached eggs to be tasteless and the juices tasted watery.. Service with a smile would have been nice as well and so sadly no tip , except to smile 😀 We were given a voucher as a gift, but had I had to pay £24 per person I don’t feel it would have been good value for money ..

Beautiful setting amongst flowers and fields. We opted to sit outside as it’s summer.the staff were lovely nothing was too much trouble .drinks menu was fab, lovely cocktails and cider. The set menu was delicious. Sharing plates of roasted peppers and tomatoes with sour dough and garlic alioli, mix of beans in a delicious oil.we opted for the beef option for main , cooked to perfection. The roast potatoes were the best I’ve tasted, the beets and beetroot were delicious and the grated cabbage with herbs another hit. The desserts were off the clock amazing, chocolate mousse cake and frangipani tart . Can’t rate highly enough, must return for the autumn menu. Thank you team.

We live locally and are fortunate enough to be able to visit the Field Kitchen frequently. We have been great fans and recommend it to others. Our last experience was not so good and with hindsight the one before perhaps not up to the usual standard. Whilst I appreciate they don’t want food waste and prices have had to increase, the portion sizes are diminishing. There was very little dip with the small ( getting smaller) piece of sourdough and being served 1 x chicken thigh for a main course is a bit mean. I remember well when you might get a small breast and a leg or thigh as a main course. Also we had squash as one of the starters followed by a lot of courgette with the main. So not much variety. I raised this with Riverford but was underwhelmed by their response. I am rather sad as we have always so enjoyed and raved about this place, but I am beginning to think they are now trading on their good name alone and not on the amazing quality of the food that you used to get there.

I've been here a few times before, but it's too far from home to make it a regular trip, but well worth the diversion on the way home from a weekend in Torquay. We had an array of gorgeous starters, stunning tomatoes, carrots, chilli peas and soft tasty bread. Followed by beef with amazing roast potatoes, and cauliflower and cabbage slaw. Followed by a stunning pavlova (my friends had sticky toffee pudding with custard). Quick and friendly service, lovely atmosphere,and beautiful food. I would love to be more local to try other meals

Go with an open mind…that’s the best way to enjoy this type of experience. Because it is an experience, not just a venue for food. The menu is what the menu is for that day. That’s it! And today I ate things that I wouldn’t normally and adored every mouthful. I would consider the amount of food, the lovely staff and the great venue real value for money. Will definitely be back!!

Wow what a lovely lunch we had on Saturday, the food and service was just perfect and we came away feeling we had the best meal out for a long time. Just keep it up and we will keep visiting.

Simply the best vegetarian food I've had. We were wowed with the starters and the main was wonderful. Vegetarian cooking at its best a fabulous mix of flavours and great to have lots of small plates to try. Staff were so friendly, service was great and the food looked as stunning as it tasted.

Riverford is the best of plant-based food and, when we are in Devon, we try and get in two visits in a week because it’s so unlike anything that we have at home in Guernsey. The menu is driven by what is available veggie-wise on any particular day. The structure is three small plates/starters with sourdough bread, a main course (which has a small amount of meat - duck and belly pork on our two visits - or vegan) and then a choice of fabulous puddings (so you don’t have to feel too sanctimonious;-). Single sitting for lunch or dinner and on the four visits which we have made (two in each of December 2022 and 2023), the place has been totally full each time. Love it and will always come back when we can.

Lovely friendly staff, locally produced organic food all served up in a warm and welcoming restaurant. No wonder that it is nearly always fully booked. If you get the chance book as you will not be disappointed. At £34 for 4 courses it is also excellent value. There is plenty of parking close to the restaurant and dogs are allowed.

Great to see a restaurant full for the Christmas Lunch menu. Impressed by such a high quality of service, delivered by a friendly and efficient team & the (organic) food, which was exceptional across each of the four courses. £34 pp was really good value. Highly recommended and will be back!

The amazing team at Riverford know how to make the most unprepossessing vegetable a star. Subtle flavours, a feast for the eye, expert cooking and imaginative menu creation. We loved the casual-yet-professional vibe, the plentiful courses which just kept coming and the feeling of feasting without ever being over-full. As vegans, being able to eat through the whole menu, and still have a choice of desserts was very exciting. We would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a culinary feast.

First thing to mention is how lovely and attentive the staff were .. great atmosphere for Sunday lunch and the food was terrific .. great afternoon and nice that our dog was allowed .. thank you

A very good meal, but—-no diet tonic! No catering for diabetic needs! Unbelievable they cater for gluten free, and lactose free, but not sugar free. We had a very good lunch overall, but appalled that when we asked for light / diet tonic, we were told, “ We don’t cater for diabetics.” This was not just disappointing but irrational , not even sweetener for coffee. There are so many people who now want to take care of their health by cutting down on sugar, and Riverford pretends to be healthy! No, not good at all.

Riverford has been on my list for many years. We had a weeks holiday in South Devon and had our last lunch there. Five plus a baby. It was worth the long wait. Great staff, lovely wholesome, flavourful food and good drinks list. The whole family thought it was excellent value as well.

This has been one of my favourite places to eat for years, but my most recent trip left me disappointed and a bit embarrassed having built up the experience to the friends I was meeting there. It could have been an off day but the changes to the style of service and the structure of the meals leads me to conclude that cost cutting has ruined the experience. Or maybe they lost the staff who made it what it was. Dining here used to be special. This time was average and even austere by comparison. The portion sizes and number of dishes served have reduced considerably. We were served just a couple of starters, none of which were particularly good, on tiny plates. The food was forgettable and the dishes badly paired with no thought to texture. With the exception of one side dish served with the main, none lived up to the old standards. The vegetarian mains have ironically always been the let down here, I have never had a good one despite eating here more than 15 times. On this occasion it was truly bland and boring. The desserts are nothing like they once were: they used to be indulgent and special, with tons of custard or cream on offer and split portions available. The surprise at the end of the meal of being asked to go and choose your dessert was exciting and perhaps covid put an end to that, but for a while the desserts continued to be amazing and the sticky toffee pudding was famous. Now the desserts, while fine, are just very small portions of basic cake with very small garnishes of compote or the like. Eating here used to be indulgent and exciting, but this time it was average, rushed and forgettable, and hugely disappointing compared with the previous experiences. We ate all the food we were given and were all hungry again within 2 hours of leaving and I probably won't be coming back unless I hear that things have improved.
