The staff were incredibly accommodating and made us feel welcome and looked after for the entire time we were there. The food however could do with a little more attention to detail. To start we had some Calamari which for the price of £6.75 was a disappointment. It was clearly taken from the freezer and not fresh. The Sunday Roast main course was beef. The meat was fantastic, really tender and a good amount on the plate. It was the vegetables that were hit and miss. The carrots were basically raw, the potatoes ok, and the broccoli was lovely. If this place put as much care into the food as they did with the service, they'd be onto a winner!

Stumbled upon The Rising Sun on Hampton Hill after a grueling journey from South Wales to Esher on what must have been the busiest day on the roads around London...ever! The Rising Sun became our sanctuary for a few hours, we came in for a drink and, to be brutally honest, a loo break. We had such a lovely time talking to the innkeeper and his staff that we stayed for several drinks and a late lunch. The food was lovely too! You can tell the management and staff want to do everything they can to make their clientele, both locals and strangers, comfortable and happy. We left well-fed and in great spirits, ready to hit the road once again. Thank you! We will be back!

We went to the Rising Sun today for the first time since the new owners have taken over for sunday lunch. The roast beef and all the trimmings was fresh & absaloutely delicious. The background music created a calm & relaxing environment as well as the candles that were lit. Bushy park is across the road, so great location for a nice stroll after lunch.Looking forward to going back to listen to live music & if i'm brave enough may even pop down for their Karaoke night. Highly reccommend the rising sun. Thank you Ravinda for making us feel very welcome. We will definately be back.

So many pubs are closing down, giving way to upmarket yet characterless eating places. All is not lost, This Pub in Hampton Hill still has it all. A warm welcome, somewhere to prop up a bar or sit to drink your much needed beverage and excellent food. We found this place looking for somewhere with a function room to hold a gathering for 15 people following a funeral. Their function room will easily cater for 24 with its own bar, TV and warm decor. We only required a buffet food but the presentation and quality was excellent along with the service from the staff. There is a small outside patio area with tables for those occasional times when it doesn't rain. The Manager and his staff were very attentive making sure that we were happy with everything without being intrusive. It is sad that we live 24 miles away because this could easily become my local. There is no doubt that we will attend this pub again as personal business will require our local attendance for the next few months. If you like a real pub atmosphere with good food friendly staff and a genuinely warm welcome then look no further.Get more info from their website www.risingsunpub.co.uk

New owners are trying very hard to revamp this pub which has slipped in the past twelve months! Food used to be very good but certain dishes taken off the menu especially steak which has not helped. Prices became the same as local restaurants forgetting that it was a local pub. Wine is expensive and hopefully this will be addressed Great jazz Thursday evenings and hopefully the Karaoke and quiz night will continue!

Even though we have passed the pub many times, we haven't been into the Rising Sun before. We went for Sunday lunch and found a homely, unpretentious place with friendly staff who were very pleased to accommondate our family, including our excitable 19 month old. The menu is straight-forward and the food of excellent quality. I had the slow roasted lamb shank (which my son also enjoyed) and my husband had their burger - both delicious. We indulged in their cherry bakewell slice, which was yummy too. The meal was reasonably priced so overall, I would love to recommend the Rising Sun as a great place to have a relaxed Sunday lunch.

Visited here for lunch on a friend's recommendation and was pleasantly surprised. I've lived in the area for years, but never visited before. It is now a place I'll definitely bear in mind for lunch and maybe an evening visit. Food was regular pub fare, but very tasty and well-presented, I had cottage pie and my friend had macaroni cheese, both delicious and not expensive. My companion had very good fish and chips on her last visit with her husband. Staff were friendly, service very good and the place is spotless. It is very close to Bushy Park for a walk afterwards and there were several other groups having lunch on a Monday, so obviously quite popular.

Looking for somewhere to eat in Hampton we gave The Rising Sun a visit after reading the rave reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. I usually find entering a small pub a bit intimidating but my fears were unfounded as immediately on entry we were greeted by a friendly barman who gave us menus directed us to a table. I would imagine you would need to book during busy times as tables are limited, although Saturday teatime was fine. The menu I would describe as gastro pub, beautifully presented and very tasty, it even has a gluten free option which is always a bonus. However it was the service that really made our visit, the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing meal.

Although we have lived in Hampton for 20 years. Unfortunately, we had never eaten in The Rising Sun, until today. We had the most delicious Sunday roast ever. We both had turkey. It was served with all fresh vegetables, including potatoes, two Yorkshire puddings, sausage wrapped in bacon, and stuffing. And served with the most delicious cranberry sauce, along with extra jug of gravy. We had not booked and we were lucky to get a table as they were very busy. The staff were so friendly and attentive. My hubby had a couple of pints of ale (apparently they have a good selection too). We will definitely be eating in The Rising Sun again. I would strongly advise to book a table in advance too. We will be eating again in The Rising Sun very soon again.

We had booked a table for 4 people and 2 dogs, one of whom is very large. We had a lovely round table in the bay window with lots of room for the dogs under the table. Dogs are very well treated here and were given their own water bowl to share as well as treats on two separate occasions! The staff are very nice and service is pleasant. I had breaded prawns with chili dip and a salad - all really nice. The roast beef Sunday lunch was huge and the dogs benefitted later from a leftover meaty doggy dinner. No one in our party could manage a pudding or a coffee. I can really recommend this pub and it was good to be told that staff do get the tips and share them out. Parking might be a bit tricky but that is always true in the city. My sister-in-law comes here as it is genuinely dog friendly, especially after a nice walk in the park.

It might be easy to miss the Rising Sun in Hampton Hill High Street, but that would be a real mistake! It is a gem of a small pub with a good choice of beers, excellent food and very friendly staff. The fish and chips are knock out and if you are on a gluten free diet you can enjoy the delightful jumbo fish fingers and chips. The prices are very reasonable and it is a lovely place to relax before or after a walk in Bushy Park which is opposite the pub. They have an attractive Garden room at the rear of the pub, which you can hire for functions. Do give a try!

Hidden gem. Fabulous roast but go early as they had ran out of the chicken late afternoon. I would give it 5 stars but i think they need to have more staff on to give a better service we had to order the lunch, drinks and the bill at the bar and just that little bit of service would of made us stay longer.

Three of us went here for Sunday lunch recently. We found the service warm, friendly, helpful, caring and very considerate. Their Sunday roast lunch was very good, both the lamb and beef. The vegetables looked like they were prepared on the premises and were nicely al dente. As they had a jar of liquorice allsorts behind the bar we shared a portion for pudding. They have a 3D cinema on the premises and two small tv screens in the gents (!). My Greene King Abbott was just ok and the place is in need of redecoration. However, would certainly use again when in the neighbourhood.

We found ourselves unexpectedly staying in Hampton for a couple of days. Not knowing the area we took a chance and went to The Rising Sun for lunch with two friends. The gentleman who looked after us could not have been more helpful. Seating us, getting our drinks and then taking our orders was done so swiftly and efficiently. In no time at all our food had arrived, and we were all delighted with our meals. One lamb shank, one beef and two brie stuffed chicken, all served with fresh veg of broccoli, cabbage and carrots. We judge roast dinners by their roast potatoes and they didn't disappoint. They were done to perfection. I could not eat another thing, but our friends had ice cream which they said was delicious. The Rising Sun is a little gem, the staff cannot do enough for you and I would definitely recommend this place without hesitation.

Since moving round the corner in the summer, I've popped in to The Rising Sun on the odd occasion for a cheeky pint. Went twice this weekend when it occurred to me that of all the pubs in Hampton Hill (and there are several) this has everything I've been looking for in a local. This isn't far off your common-or-garden traditional pub (sadly, a dying breed) with the exception of a more homely interior décor replacing the ubiquitous theme of dark wood and tired upholstery. Landlord and staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. Greene King ales are kept extremely well and there’s a very good rotation of guest ales to keep beer drinkers interested (lovely drop of Old Hooky on at the mo and St Austell’s Tribute and Timothy Taylor's Landlord have made recent appearances). There's a good range of reasonably priced wines sourced from the local, well regarded vintner and the most refined crisp and nut selection going. Haven't tried the food yet, but looks good and in an age where pub menus are becoming increasingly pretentious and over-priced, The Rising Sun seems to have got the balance just right serving classic, honest favourites (not a coulis or velouté in sight). This is what a pub should be with perhaps only a dartboard conspicuous by its absence. It’s doing a good job of serving an eclectic community - you can even buy your Christmas tree from an affable fellow in the garden and they’re reassuringly less expensive than those peddled from the local garden centre. A highly recommended destination on an autumnal walk through Bushy Park for a well-earned pint and a pie.

The pizza was lovely; we tried the vegetable and the ham and mushroom options. The base and overall flavour were excellent. However, the vegetables let the dish down – they were soggy and not very pleasant. We’d recommend using fresh vegetables instead of roasted ones. With that change, it would easily be a 5-star experience rather than 3.
