The Rising Sun in Cheshire East

We turned up and our booking had been done for the wrong day, completely our fault! There was 7 of us but Chloe was great helping us to find a table for the 7 of us in the bar area which we were fine with as the bar and restaurant were really busy, so we were very lucky. We had great bar service from Jack, who pulls a good pint. Food was lovely and enjoyed by all, will definitely be coming again. Thanks

We use this restaurant regularly, brining our disabled friend for a meal. The staff are very understanding and caring and always ensure we are seated comfortably. The menu is varied and we have not had a bad meal yet. The staff work hard to ensure everybody are served in a timely manner and with due diligence. They are attentive without being intrusive. They work as team which is rehearsed. A big thank you to them as well as a big well done.

Good food and guest beers in a great atmosphere in a local pub served by our local barman Jack. The Rising Sun is a great venue with a warm welcome and great staff

Came here for a family meal after months of planning, staff here were great, food was out of this world, have always had a really pleasant experience here. Ryan had us seated and took our bar order promptly with no issues, even popped back through the evening to check everything was okay. For the number of us that turned up we had no issues with the food order and everything came out well prepared and to everyone’s satisfaction, would highly rate more stars if we could

Booked ahead to ensure a table for Saturday lunchtime. Plenty of parking available. Service from Stephen was excellent, and the food was delicious. Our first visit, but definitely not our last!

Called in for an early dinner. It was already quite busy but we were found a table quite quickly. It is a charming, well-presented pub and has retained some old world charm. It is part ofd the Chef and Brewer chain, so you can be assured of a good choice of food, although fairly straightforward pub-grub. We especially enjoyed our garlic mushroom starter which came with a creamy / cheesey sauce. The Sheperd's Pie was a bit weird ... a lamb shank stuck in a pie dish with a potato topping. But plenty meant on the bone and very tasty

Great visit & well looked after by Ryan & Jack, despite power outage that morning they really pulled out all the stops to make our visit a complete success with excellent food as well, well done to you all!!!

I'm not sure why some reviews are bad, they maybe had staffing issues at the time as we had a party of 15 for lunch after our dad's funeral and had no issues whatsoever. The food was hot and tasty, reasonably priced, and the staff very attentive. We even had a cookie for dad brought to us by Sandra to celebrate dad. (Sandra will know the meaning of this to us). This was a very positive experience at a very emotional time and we thank all the staff for making it so. We will definitely visit again.

waited over an hour for the food to arrive potato wedges were burnt asked for chips instead. no apology from the manager instead she finished her shift went home never bothered to come back to the table to see us after we asked for her. Will never step inside the place again

I’d just like to mention how lovely this restaurant is, the food, variety of drinks, real ales, and much more, the staff were amazing, if I may mention, Sandra,Chloé,Leah were amazing, so warm and friendly, attentive, nothing is to much trouble, the food was amazing, well done to all. X

They must have had an 'off day'. Took an hour for food to arrive and when it did it was cold. Normally excellent service and exceptional food. I was disappointed with my meal that was only just warm when it arrived. My partners chips were cold but he ate them anyway. I had a pudding to cheer myself up and have to say that was excellent (and hot).

Have been coming here for years and always had a lovely meal. But this time you could tell it’s gone downhill. The prices have shot up £26 for a lamb chop ridiculous. I ordered the cheese toastie with about 5 chips, the toastie was soggy and oily and tiny wouldn’t order that again. Other members of my family said the same. Sorry but we won’t be visiting again and it’s a shame as my late husband and I enjoyed so many lovely meals here.

The place is nice enough with a decent atmosphere. Dogs are allowed in. Decent choice of beers. The big downfall is the food! Frozen chips and the fish was pretty dry. Expensive considering the poor quality.

We were a little dubious about how the service and food would be over a busy Easter Weekend however, I have to say, the team here did not disappoint. We have now been here a few times but each time we have been the food has fab including the breakfasts. The team are really attentive, friendly and professional. Sandra the GM goes out of her way to make every table feel welcome. It’s one of our new go to places. PS: sorry we were too hungry to bother taking pics of our mains 😂

A very pleasant lunchtime with friends. We tried the new lunch menu and it was both good value and decent quality (see photos). My draught diet coke was very sweet, but I don't drink it often so it might just be me ... Very few staff in evidence, but we were served promptly and with a pleasant manner at the bar. We will definitely be back.

Had great time with very attentive and happy staff who checked we were ok with everything without being pushy or over the top. Order taken promptly again without being pushy and drinks served promptly. Food served in good time and very edible and seemed “home cooked” and at a good price. Drinks good and flavoursome real ales.

I definitely agree with BARFLY, the staff in this pub have no leader. It’s shocking how Greene king directors can let this happen. These are the type of staff you don’t want. You need to invite guests. The majority of the staff forget that they work in hospitality and what the word stands for. The man has never been barred, a well respected man from the community comes in for a drink after three years, and he still gets refused a drink. Disgusting Well said BARFLY

I am absolutely appalled by the Duty Manager Stefan. A male customer, would describe him as a bit older, but clearly knew a considerable number on people inside the pub who were all extremely welcoming and talking to him, went to get served at the bar. Clearly the duty manager is on a power trip and, clearly having a grievance towards the attention the customer was given - said “you haven’t been in for three years, I’m telling the staff not to serve you” and then walked off when simply asked why. He genuinely refused service and walked off like a petulant child having a tantrum about a customer he didn’t like coming in. This customer to my knowledge, isn’t barred or this would have been said. This appalling behaviour, in a trade which is struggling enough as it is, is a show of diabolical customer service and is clearly a power trip from someone wielding a position they shouldn’t have. Customers and regulars are the lifeblood of the pub trade, and every loss is another nail in the coffin. Unless major changes in staff and management comes soon, this place, which has been teetering on the edge of issues for years, will die in the view of local competition such as the other nearby Greene King pub and Woodside which welcomes everyone with open arms, and the Marstons pub Sacred Orchard; both of which are far more welcoming. Please - if you have any form of risk of facing a grievance from someone who shouldn’t be a manger - avoid this place like the plague!

Absolutely love this pub/restaurant. Visited again yesterday with friends, food was delicious, highly recommend the chef's sharing board and the seafood grill. I was welcomed on arrival, and selected a well-lit table in the spacious venue. I ordered from the bar from the extensive menu, and the food was well-cooked and tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful, but despite not being busy at all my meal took half an hour to be served. I will certainly call again when I am in the area. Visited the Rising Sun on a Saturday for lunch with our family. The food was good, portion sizes were average but best of all was great service by Ryan.

Lovely meal at the rising sun today. Staff were friendly and attentive. Met up with a friend for a catch up and it was the perfect location. Not to busy, quiet but still enough people for an atmosphere. I had the lasagne and my friend who is a vegetarian chose the mushroom and ale pie. We chose here because of the great vegetarian options that they had available and we werent disappointed. Food and drinks arrive promptly and were perfect. Mention for Chloe, Ryan, Jack and Steve who look after us. Will definitely be back :)

A last minute decision to have lunch here - and very glad we did. The pub is really lovely and has a nice, cosy and peaceful atmosphere. We were shown to a table and given time to look at menus. We were served by two young waiters (Jack and Ryan). Our food came out in good time and was really good! I had the vegan mushroom pie which was cooked perfectly and my friend had the lasagne which looked amazing. We had no room for desserts, so maybe next time! We also had a good chat with a manager named Chloe, who was lovely. You have a great team and pub here. We will be back!

Waited half an hour for a drink, 40 minutes for a starter and an hour for main course. Didn’t want a desert but wasn’t even asked. Not impressed. Certainly won’t be rushing back.
