The Rifle Volunteer in Watford

I'm not sure why people waste their time leaving malicious reviews (sam harris). The Rifle is a great place to visit for top class beers, wines and spirits plus well known for quality food and service.

I’m not one to leave reviews, especially negative ones towards small businesses. But as a patron for over 15 years, many a birthday party, Christmas celebrations, numerous midweek beers and weekends watching the football and brilliant memories made there, unfortunately I’ve been forced to cut ties with this once brilliant local pub. Unfortunately it’s not a safe place for women to drink anymore. This pub has taken a steep decline since Chris left. It’s so sad to see more and more locals move on eventually leaving this pub to its eventual and foreseeable demise. Sad times for a once brilliant pub. I worked for Enterprise for years and know the local reps and will be taking this further.

Good carvery and friendly staff

Went for the first time today for Carvery.Food was fantastic and excellent value for Money.Had a pudding too which was to die for.The team do really well.

Place was great, with lovely food and staff. Gone down hill last few weeks, flat beer, staff not great, no longer feels like a family pub. More of a pub for the races

Great pub! Small but good selection of drinks!

A very nice, welcoming pub with a good selection of beers and cider. Staff are friendly and there is always a nice sense of community. A pleasant place to stop for a drink and a pack of mini cheddars after a walk over the common. If you're not interested in sport there is plenty of space to sit away from the televisions as they're only located at the bar.

Simple but friendly local pub. Excellent curry night on a Tuesday catered by The Village Kitchen. £12 for a generous portion (rice, meat, sides with good vegan/veggie options) + £1 extra if you want popadoms or a basic (oven) naan. Must book!

Amazing night at the rifle fir the jubilee quiz. Lovely friendly pub with a great atmosphere. First time we have been there but felt so welcome. Will be back for the next quiz.

Wouldn't even rate with a star but I wanted to leave a review don't know if the person in charge was in a foul mood but they were incredibly rude when I was opening the door to try and exit the pub their attitude when I wanted to buy a drink was one of not really wanting to serve me...so I cut my visit short and was told of for attempting to exit through the wrong door!!!....wasn't pleasant considering it was an afternoon visit with one other person in the pub...unless you've got 'thick skin'...don't bother!!

Welcoming and friendly pub that provides a winning combination of great food, good atmosphere, wide range of drinks and a responsible attitude to cleanliness and safety.

In these difficult times it a safe and welcoming pub. Beer always excellent quality and a varying range. Do arrange to book to eat here or takeaways for very good value curry nights on every tuesday and pizza or pie and mash nights.

Just back from a wonderful evening at the Rifle Volunteer.Amazing home made curry, with tasty fresh ingredients, great service, an interesting selection of lagers, craft beers and guest ales. All of which were very reasonably priced.Not easy with all the current restrictions in place, but well done the Rifle, and thank you!

Here for a 40th birthday party, great place, lovely little snacks, quick and friendly service at the bar even though it was busy.

Friendly local pub. Curry nights, pie and mash and bistro nights are always excellent and the food is to die for.

I have been to the Riffle a fair few times over the years but never written a review, so...As soon as you walk into the pub the friendly landlord greets you with a warm and welcoming smile. There is a good variety of lager and ale and the beer is well chilled - essential on a hot day. The pub shows the football games and various sports and there is a decent projector screen too. There are often curry nights, quizzes and events with a family feel to the pub. The food is fresh, tasty and great value. You can play pool or darts too, if you're feeling sporty! Highly recommended for a social night out or a quick one after work!

As seen in the picture, great for watching sports, especially if you own a periscope. Good beer selection.

I wish I could like this pub more as it's close by, but it's not cosy or family orientated. Football on the TV too much of the time and rather 'manish'!

Part of the Oxhey Village Beer Festival, it was bursting at the seems, but then they had some excellent ales to sample, people were having a great time both inside and out. Nice venue for a great event, hopefully I can do it again next year.

Every Tuesday night is curry night. Great food cooked properly, plenty of it and very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Friendly pub, with pool table and darts

High quality Indian food. a huge plateful (or takeaway) of freshly cooked Indian food. Two meat dishes, two vegetable dishes, vegetable samosa, all with a wide range iof indian condiments. Plus it is a friendly pub with good range of drinks, just 5 minutes walk from Bushey station.

Fantastic local! Tuesday Curry Night is a MUST hosted by 'The Village Kitchen'. Friday nights during the summer months they also do Pizza which is Devine! Ask about Pie and mash dates as the homemade pies are by far the best around! Bar staff and landlord are very approachable! Lovely well looked after pool table, and a darts board!

A nice old pub in Bushey. Great landlord and nice clientele plus the sport if you want it. A proper pub before they all get turned into a generic bar. Enjoy.
