Not great. Slow service. Food didn’t arrive together - so we were unable to people were unable to eat together. Service was beyond slow prompting several visits to speak to staff - all of whom were clueless as to where the remaining orders were! Food was ok - mixed reviews from people in our party. Various people going back and forth the kitchen for no apparent reason. Support previous review staff in various states of undress. Staff leaning over to collect glasses with no top yuk!! At one point there was a toddler behind the bar completely naked. Beer tasted bad and premium larger doubtful that this was the larger that was advertised! Not a clean bar area. One member of bar staff almost fainted. Will not be back.

We came here as 4 adults and 2 children for dinner as staying locally. We arrived at quarter to 6 to be told there was a 20 person table in at 6.30pm and we wouldn't be getting our food until after they were done around quarter past 7 but they would probably be able to do the kids meals so they werent waiting, not a problem, we were okay with this as walk-ins we expected to wait a while. Very basic menu, dont expect a lot of choice. When we went to order just after 6, we were then told we weren't allowed to put an order in for food at all, even for the kids, until after the table were done eating around quarter past/half past 7. We stuck with it as nothing else nearby, about half 7 we were finally able to order. The food was average. Aside from this the staff were polite and nice, but it's clearly a small family run pub, there were people topless behind the bar, kids running through the inside soaking wet from being in the pool outside (we didn't go outside so unsure if this was just for family use). If the food was good we probably could have overlooked the other things but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

New opening and managed to bag a table for Sunday Lunch, the new Landlady is renowned for her food, it was amazing and cannot wait to go back and sample all of the menu 😜 well worth a visit. Stunning food and superb customer service.

It’s just re-opened! Called on a sunny afternoon. There was sign outside ‘Open at 12; fresh rolls available’! Went inside, no one there! Beer garden had a few miserable looking couples, ( wishing they hadn’t gone there, like us). Enquired about rolls, barman stated ‘She hasn’t done any today’! We drank up and left! Why advertise then? How long will the present Occupiers be here; people are taking bets already! Even money it’ll be closed again real soon!

Closed down. I said in a previous review it would be closed by Xmas 2023; I was just three months out! Run by idiots, rubbish food, Chef doing a runner with the takings, what do you expect?

We were a pre booked group of 14. After a long delay the food arrived and was quite good. I felt sorry for the very nice waiting staff who were overwhelmed.,Over complicated menu needs reviewing and organisation for groups needs sorting

Last October 2023 Food excellent. Today we had poor food, when we complained, no reduction in our bill, just a female telling us they changed the chef! Well, we won't be going back. Waste of money. £8.95 for something that should have been a gammon! Shameful.

Excellent offer of two mixed grills for £15. Very large portions. We both failed and were given a container to take stuff home. Very popular pub, busy but not too busy.

Just had our family Christmas Dinner at the Rhoswenalt. 10 of us on Christmas Day. It was amazing, from the service to the quality and quantity of our meals. We will definitely be booking for next year

We were a party of 8 for my daughters birthday on Sunday 10th Dec , The place was full, and the food seemed to look good from a distance It was a disappointment when the food arrived, it was only average, I know there has been a slight problem in the pub, but you need to keep up your standards going forward. I wish you could come through all this issue and hope things get better soon.

Pre booked and prepaid well in advance . Table booked for 7 by 9:30 not everyone in the party had had their first course .As we were leaving at about 9:45 no sign of any meal anytime soon , a small party of 6 who had been eating their first course when we arrived , had just had 3 of their main course. Staff were overwhelmed ,clearly a problem with staff levels but no one took the lead and managed the situation . Such a shame it was one of the rare chances we get as a group to get together . It will be a Christmas do to remember for all the wrong reasons .

Well our bike club Xmas do was a total disaster. We were supposed to be enjoying our starters at 7.00 they came at 8.30 cold and tasteless. I left at 9.45 not a single morsel had been served at that time. Thank you “The Rhoswenallt’ Aberdare for ruining our Xmas do with no apologies and a few scraps of food served. Anyone booked in for a Xmas meal be warned !!!

Since the new owners have taken over on a bright note it has gone downhill sadly. Went there for a Sunday dinner and got served packet beef from a supermarket. If I pop up there for an evening the make you feel uncomfortable as they just want to go home early

Younger staff needs training in dealing with customers over the phone who need assistance when booking. Highly dismissive when asked questions. No time to assure the customer on the service you provide. Maybe should be working in a factory where they dont have to interact with people.

Staff - didn't inform us if we were to order at the bar or table. No character at all. Very chatty with each other but don't care about the customer experience at all. Didn't check if the food was okay. Food - ok/poor. Served 20mins before other members at the table. No apologies from the staff. Drinks - great price! The only positive of the visit Definitely won't be going again

We were recommended this place ...so jumped on the idea seeing as it was local. Couldn't get through on the phone to book in all day, had to drive up to get booked in ... now this was a positive as they were happy to fit us in for an evening meal seeing as we'd made such an effort. Apparently the phones ...internet .. every hasn't worked for weeks. Ok this happens and I'm sure it's frustrating for them... but tbh didn't look like they were that bothered due to the fact there is a way to phone them via a mobile phone number somewhere on Facebook ( how would any prospective customer know this ??? We were seated right underneath a loud speaker .... no indication of whether we waited to be served or if we needed to order at the bar. after 10 mins we decided to get a drink ... sat down and looked at the menu ...then realised oh maybe we have to order at the bar too ? .... couldn't wait for the fish and chips to arrive ... there were four of us .... two of our group had their food arrive after a while .... unfortunately our two meals arrived 20 mins later ... they had nearly finished their meals when ours arrived ... no apologies from the staff ..no offer of sauces etc ... tbh they didn't have a clue this was the case what so ever ... ok so ... don't order the fish and chips ...there Curry and burger looked ok .... our fish was flat ... batter was ok ...but the fish was sloppy ...wet and soaking in god knows what ... the peas I'd quite easily say we're hands down the most unattractive and foul tasting I've ever had eating out. So ..thank god for the chips and some lettuce. What made the experience worse was ...they didn't ask if the food was ok ... the music at 8.20 went beyond loud ... maybe they forgot that people were eating in their dining area and just wanted to entertain the drinkers 10 feet away on the other side of the wall ... we couldn't hear each other even when pretty much shouting ... sorry but the staff looked stressed... the organisation was all over the place and the atmosphere wasn't good at all unfortunately. Pretty much the worst experience I've had eating out ever. I wish them all the best .... but my god there's certain standards any establishment should have when they serve food ... ok it's very cheap ...but to have the experience of what is going on in the kitchen ...the staff don't really care about the customers tbh and the quality of the ingredients and cooking oils paying a £5 for a meal would still feel like a rip off.

Visited this venue as part of a surprise birthday lunch on a Saturday afternoon .. And fair play, I found this inn to be a very nice place... Its location is away from Aberdare, but it's definitely worth finding for some very nice pub cuisine, in my opinion.. I especially very much enjoyed my fish & chips lunch.. The ambience and very warm welcome by staff made this particular visit a pleasurable one for sure.. We would definitely be returning..

Found by accident. Fitted in, as we didn't book. My friend and I both Pensioners. Had an excellent meal and dessert. Quality food. All served hot with large portions. Desserts were fabulous. Told staff we will be coming again. Well done to the Owners and all Staff. Recommended to family, friends and neighbours.

Had an evening meal here while visiting the town. Very friendly staff a decent pint and decent typical pub grub. The weather was nice and we were offered the option to eat in the beer garden. No complaints.

We're told to sit down at a table, absolutely fine. After a few minutes someone came to ask us for track and trace which is fine. Asked us what drinks we wanted, took a payment and started to walk off. I asked if we could have food menus and was just told "we don't serve food on Tuesdays".No apology, there was no hello, smile or any sort of generic human interaction. Different story for the tables who were obviously locals, the server was extremely chatty to them. We were told to have masks on when not at table, even though we were outside. Again, these rules didn't apply for the locals wandering around. We were recommended by two people to come and eat here so it's a real shame. I am sure the food is lovely but we didn't get a chance to try it.

We had Sunday lunch at the Rhos this weekend, but were left pretty unimpressed by our visit. We were seated at the back but after ordering and receiving drinks, we waited over 20 minutes to give our food order, and that was after I got up to ask if we could do so. The soup starter was lovely, even if the bread it came with was burnt on one side and untoasted on the other. We both had a beef dinner that was pretty average at best. Some parts of the meal were hot and others lukewarm. Not a bad Sunday lunch, but certainly not one you'd rush back for. Had very nice meals in this restaurant a few years ago but standards seemed to have slipped under new ownership.

Called in here for a quick pint before going back home after a bit of a tour around Aberdare. Not been in here for years but was pleasantly surprised at the welcome from the staff. Good choice of local beers and lagers and seemed to be pretty busy for lunchtime meals. This pub has certainly changed for the better since my last trip of over 20 years and I will be returning to sample the food asap.

Visited today for my partner's birthday. We'd never been here before, so it was a bit of a risk for a birthday, but wow, risk worth taking! The food was beautifully cooked and well presented, and we will definitely be back again. Thank you to the staff for singing happy birthday, he wasn't embarrassed at all, lol. A definite new fav for food! Keep up the good work.

A faultless meal made even more appealing by the restaurant continuing they own eat out to help out scheme. The proventative messures against COVID19 was well thought out and instilled confidence.Rachel took our telephone booking and attended to us on our visit. A combination of her outstanding customer service and a quality Chef makes this a place we will visit again.

We had a fantastic day in Aberdare starting with a picnic in the park, followed by browsing around the shops and indoor market. The town was clean and the people were very friendly. After such an exciting day, we got hungry and decided to eat here. We ordered well done steaks with all the trimmings that were cooked to perfection. The food was tasty and the portion sizes were great. Will definitely be back especially as the staff were lovely. Fantastic prices too.

My Wife and went here for lunch recently!We were the only one's there!I had the cod/chorizo starter which was nice if you are use to portions that would fill a mouse!My Wife's burger and my gammon was nothing to write Home about!Expensive for what it is; even the drinks are costly - £3.40.for a pint of Bud light!!!Would I go again? DEFINITELY NOT, AND I CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE FIVE STARS REVIEWS! That's way off the mark, I'm afraid!

Visited the Rhos on the off chance and had a really good meal. Tasty well presented food with good portions. To top it all of the pub is continuing with their own eat out to help out... Stunning price and food!Will return again and be happy to pay full price

Both myself and my wife had the sirloin steak,it was cooked by the new chef, mine was medium,it was a perfect pink in the middle , well seasoned,All staff were so friendly a real credit to you. Premises were spotless, Alovely place to go to relax for good food and drinks. I highly recommend.

Recently had a meal at the Rhos, food and service was fab. I had the sirloin cooked medium-rare and it was spot on. Nicely seasoned and juicy. My wife had Gammon with egg and pineapple, gammon was a good size and well presented. The staff on the bar said there was a new Chef at the pub. We came at the right time we loved it. The desserts were lovely (fudge brownie). The staff were very friendly and looked after us all night. Keep it up, we will be back

Visited this pub under government 50% scheme at lunch time. Friendly reception very clean tables. Nice choice of meals. Food arrived looking as good as picture on website. Tasted even better. Could not fault food quality quantity and taste. Pudding equally good and good portion size. Waitress and chef were attentive but not overly so. Prices very reasonable. Toilets very clean. A great experience

Went here for a meal for our anniversary and it was one of the best meals we have ever had out. The food and the service was outstanding. Ill definately be returning for a meal very soon.

Had the Sirloin steak for a lunch meal and it was cooked exactly how I wanted it! The chef even did a garlic sauce as a request. Staff were very attentive and positive trying to make the visit as pleasant as possible. Was really nice to be back in the pub environment and feel a little bit of normality! Sanitisers throughout for the public and all staff were using sanitiser throughout our visit! Thank you all!

After being in shielding for 4 months, we decided on a meal on the outside tables at the Rhoswenault with our boys. I felt really safe with the pod layout and sanitising stations throughout. Everywhere was spotless and you could see the staff sanitising constantly throughout our visit. We had 4 meals, me and my eldest boy had steak which was cooked perfectly to our liking. The pasta was wolfed down by our middle boy and our youngest loved his sausage children’s meal. They had the warm chocolate brownie for desert and they said it was the best they had ever had! Kayleigh at the bar was so helpful and elle-Louise our waitress was very attentive, polite and couldn’t do enough to help us. Thank you so much to the team at the rhoswenault, we look forward to visiting again.

Recently visited for food at lunchtime. It was very quiet with only two other tables eating. The food was poor quality, bland and tasteless. Burgers were not home made and chips were the frozen type. Compared to when I last visited here 12 months ago where the food was all home made and so much better. Not sure if there has been a change of chef but the old one needs to come back before we visit again. Thankfully we had the discount due to Covid as we wouldn’t have been happy paying the full price. Staff need to smile a little more too as they all looked miserable.

All greasy food, bulk bought with no flavour. All greasy everything with chips. Everything deep dried. Over priced and disgusting. Decor just like a boring lounge, no class, style or character. Do not waste your money. Waitress rude. Really wish we'd saved the money and ate at home. Complained about the food to no avail. Grim very grim.

Visited for food with my other half after work. Food on the menu was all available and we both ordered a burger. Absolutely stunning and high quality food. So tasty!! Have nothing bad to say what so ever about the food or service at this place. Have been here before and have also had the same experience. Highly recommend. Place was also very clean and tidy and all in compliance with covid guidelines. Will definitely be visiting again :-)

Great food, good social distancing, plenty of space between the tables. Large portions and prompt service. No photos because we were all too busy eating the food! Steak was great, so was the chicken burger and beef burger. 100% recommend.

The Rhoswenallt Inn was the perfect pub to celebrate the trade reopening after the lockdown. It was great to see social distancing measures adhered to. But most importantly the beer tasted fantastic. Hats off too all the team for making the experience safe, enjoyable and all the hard work that went into it.

March 4th 2020 16 friends and ex colleagues booked a table at The Rhoswenallt Inn to celebrate. 70th birthday! The staff were wonderful, accommodating with the arrangements, delivery of flowered, cake etc, The food was lovely with everyone commenting that they had really enjoyed the food and ambience of the place! We hope to be making this a regular occurrence!Thank you everyone at the Rhos!

The family run restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and we were in a side room which was relatively quiet. The Sunday lunch was fine (overcooked veg) but the toblerone desert more than made up for it!

Fantastic afternoon with friends. Sharing platter was plenty for 2 of us and tasty.

We came in with local friends to watch the rugby and have a bite to eat. A friendly welcome from staff and manager and locals were also very nice. Thank you to Elle and John who looked after us and made sure our food was nice and drinks were constantly topped up with big smiles. We had some sharing platters which were very tasty. Wine and beer prices excellent. Overall a fantastic experience we will be back

Me and my friend came up here to watch the rugby as they advertised on Facebook about the big screen they had, the staff were very friendly and accomodating(our waitress was ellie)she was very attentive, we both ordered steaks and they were cooked to perfection i must say its the best steak ive had in a long time, food was very well presented and came quickly considering how busy it was, it was my first visit here and will definitely be back again

Impromptu visit with my daughter which turned out to be a great choice. Warm welcome and modern decor, helpful staff and an excellent lunch menu. Our food and drinks were superb, excellent value and allowed for healthy choices without losing out on taste and presentation. Highly recommend a visit.

Went here to celebrate a birthday as a group of 10 and we were all very happy. The food was absolutely beautiful and the service was fantastic. Considering they had a few large parties in at the same time everything was still a very high standard. Would definitely recommend and will 100% be going back.

Quick weekend visit to help a cousin with her move. Just up from where she lives is the pub. Much to my delight I'd heard it was now a Glamorgan Brewery pub serving their fine ales. So a walk up the hill (or Mountain if you like) to find them serving 3 cask ales. Tried them all and they were excellent. (CRWR Gorlas my personal favourite)

A party of 24 and all served together and food was nice and hot. Not one complaint which is rare in a party of 25. Great service. Will be back. And the curry doesn't come with coleslaw as in my pic lol.

Went here for food for my 40th birthday party. 24 for us went and every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Staff are all really friendly. Steak was one of the best I've ever tasted and will definitely be returning.

Been coming here for a few years now and have never had a bad meal but was keen to try it under the new ownership of the Glamorgan Brewing Co.

Fabulous steak cooked to perfection. Lots of chips and sage oil drizzled on the mushroom was lovely. Husband had the mushrooms to start, the sauce from that should be a steak sauce, it was lovely!

Spur of the moment decision to go here & glad we did. Very enjoyable, quick and efficient service. Pub was very clean, well presented & welcoming.

Took my family for a Sunday roast here. We where greated by friendly staff who quickly seated us. The restaurant was immaculate! The food was served quickly and was very enjoyable. In particular the gravy was probably the best I’ve had, which absolutely made the Sunday dinner. I will be returning soon.

Sunday lunch here today with our family of 10 (6 adults & 4 children). The meal was superb, with brilliant roast potatoes and very tasty beef & lamb. Our waiter and waitress were excellent - very attentive and polite.

Went to the Rhoswenallt last Monday night after calling on short notice and they were more than happy to fit a party of 4 in. Found a great selection of beers and lagers at the bar and we must say the service we had from Maia and Rachel was excellent. As were all the staff with their great attitude to making us all feel welcome. The food was great, really tasty and good sized portions. Will definitely be going back.

My sister in law won a meal for 2 in a Christmas raffle at the Rhoswenallt and we treated ourselves last night. Absolutely cracking beef curry, wonderful service and a relaxing family/couples environment. Would highly recommend.

I booked for 10 of us to have a birthday lunch, we were a late booking but restaurant were happy to oblige us. Food was very good, service was excellent. All staff were lovely and friendly. Elouise ( apologies if I’ve spelt that wrong) looked after us very well, saw that we had all we needed. It was a busy afternoon with a larger party having lunch there as well. The staff didn’t stint on us in any way. We would all definitely recommend this place and will go back.

I won a raffle for a meal for two and went with my sister in law. Meal was stunning (recommend the curry) and the staff were so pleasant and couldnt do enough for you. Would definitely recommend.

Well it's not that I wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting your typical pub grub and atmosphere for our family Christmas Dinner (held after boxing day). Well I was surprised in the best way possible. It looks smart, inside is posh and clean. Atmosphere was lovely and the staff were welcoming. Our server Maia was lovely and attentive, it felt like she was waiting on us hand and foot. Our second server Jon was on work experience and we all had a laugh, it felt like we were coming to someone else's family to have lunch. Duty manager El introduced herself and staff and it felt like we were royalty. Fantastic food, and I mean outstanding, combined with a fantastic selection of locally brewed beer meant this trip out with my family of over a dozen was actually my favourite trip out of the year, all thanks to the Rhoswenallt Inn!!

Visited on an extremely busy Sunday Lunch time. There were 4 large parties at the restaurant to be served. The service was amazing. Everyone was served together, food was excellent and hot.Even cooked chips for one of our children with no fuss. Cost was reasonable.

Lovely evening at the rhoswenallt inn for my mums birthday. Plenty of drink choices on the menu. Service very efficient and prompt the waitress Maia was very helpful. Plenty of variety on the menu, all starters and main courses were hot and plentiful. I had garlic mushrooms and a festive burger! The burger was delicious and the portions huge, struggled to finish it as I wanted to save myself for pudding! Will be returning.

As part of an overnight stay in Aberdare, we did a quick search on Trip Adviser, and saw the Rhoswenallt Inn was well reported on. Let’s go we thought... and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in we were cheerily greeted by Maia and shown to their last available table. Both Maia and Meg looked after us really nicely and all the food was so nice. My main course as the Welsh Curry - fabulous! My wife had the chicken pancetta - she said it was cooked beautifully, and all the accompanying veg was also perfect. Nice starters too, particularly the oven baked mushroom. And... a great selection of beers and wines. I recommend one of their Bitters, Santa’s Little Belter

When we walked in we were greeted with friendly staff. The lady in charge was very professional and friendly as were the girls behind the bar. My friends tried the new festive burger but I really enjoyed the double apple burger. Was most definitely the best food we’ve had for a while. Highlight was ending the night with the toblerone dessert. Would highly recommend this place as it’s rare these days to get great food and service.

A regular visitor to take my Mother out for Sunday lunch, understood under new management and chef, so interested to see the difference. Extremely pleased with both service and food quality, it was always good but us now even better... Thoroughly recommend.
