We had a very good, healthy and tasty lunch (Puy lentils, roasted beetroot, walnuts, watercress, and mixed leaves). The young man serving us was excellent. He asked us which options were available at each stage when serving the meals. Very clear and helpful. When at the till there wasn't room on the tray for the tea, so the lady at the till helpfully brought the tea over to our table and moved a chair so I could get to the table in my wheelchair. A lovely healthy meal at a very reasonable cost with service that was prompt and helpful.

Visited for the first time 2 years ago, loved it & surprised by the liw price in the tea shop. Missed last year , visited Thursday & horrified by the price hike & the cafetiere that only goes down 2\3 of the way because it's deeper on the outside! What a con! Will continue to visit fardens but not the t shop!

Lovely setting in the original kitchen of the Hall (there is also a courtyard but not warm enough to eat outside when we visited). We had an excellent meal with charming service. Well worth combining with a visit to the Hall. It's within the grounds so you have to pay to get into the estate anyway - but it's very interesting to visit the house and estate. There is also a Tea Room, but the Old Kitchen restaurant is a different place.

This is a delightful café with the dining area under a high brick vaulted ceiling, in the square courtyard, with central fountain. We only had tea and a cake but it appeared that full meals and other snacks were available. We were satisfied with all aspects, there were nearby toilets which were very clean.

We loved our first visit to Houghton Hall, both hall and fabulous gardens. After our gargantuan breakfast at our BB (The Flint House Weasenham) we were glad of the shade and tranquility of tea and cake at the Houghton Hall restuarant, following a lot of walking in sunshine. Good selection of all food, and when I noticed the large cakes had been cut somewhat unevenly (gourmet or diet portions) the kind young waitress gave me the slice of my choice. I'll leave you guessing which that was.......

My Gran would have described this establishment as "fur coat, no knickers". It looks truly lovely. It's in a great location and should be fabulous. But looks are deceptive. If you are not put off by the very rude staff, then the tables may well do it. Our table was so sticky that the serviettes were glued to it and great chunks of wool came off the sleeves of my jumper. I asked the waitress to clean the table, very grudgingly she applied some spray to the place setting in front of me, sniffed the air and said "ooh smells nice dunnit?" I pointed out that cleaning the table tended to imply the whole table rather than a bit. She giggled and ran off. Shame as food was good, but with tables this dirty makes you wonder about the hygiene standards in the kitchen.

We had a lovely meal provided by the owner of the Flying Kiwi inns. The stable block provides a lovely place to eat and was very popular, especially so during the Houghton Revisited Exhibition.

The quality of catering available in what appears to be a tea room in a stable is mind blowing. When you have completed your visit to this wonderful house, just relax in this venue.

Visited Houghton today and viewed the beautiful house and wonderful exhibition. Stopped for lunch at the cafe. Their card machine was broken and we expressed concern about not having enough cash to which the manageress responded " we won't let you go hungry -send us a cheque when you get home" - an unimaginable response for us Londoners. Additionally they happily prepared a special plate for one of the group who has various food allergies. You would struggle to get this kind of service in many smart London restaurants. Staff were universally helpful , polite and friendly. Food was home cooked and fresh and the home made cakes and scones delicious.

After my girlfriend and I enjoyed the impressive collection at ''Houghton Revisited,'' we stopped in at the restaurant for a quick bite. They have excellent selections of traditional English fare and a friendly and helpful staff to match. The chef even personally attended to our order! Needless to say, the food, service, and atmosphere all came together perfectly. The highlights of my meal were the Cornish Pastry and the mushroom soup. Splendid English country estate and hospitality!

We ate lunch in the Stables restaurant at Houghton Hall. It's a pleasant place but it was crowded The mushroom soup and bread roll were very good. There was an over-sweet coffee and walnut cake. The staff were very pleasant.

After an initial lack of communication from Houghton, I finally managed to talk to someone and informed them that I am Coeliac, for when we were visiting, etc. After that, everything was perfectly ok. When we arrived at the restaurant I made myself known to the staff as requested, (after being told to 'sit down, the waitress will come to you') - and my delicious chicken dinner was brought to me. A tad heavy on what I believe was tarragon, but otherwise ok. The staff were pleasant ,courteous and patient on what was a very busy service.

Of course, this is a restaurant you go to because it's part of Houghton Hall, but the cooks have nevertheless made a great effort to present interesting choices, good sandwiches, and excellent desserts. We were surprised and delighted.

We eat in the cafe (where only cold food is served) and sat outside in the courtyard. When we asked to see a menu were told to 'sit at a table and we will bring you one' but why dont they display one outside so that you can see what's on offer? Are they afraid that people will read it and walk away (not too many other places to walk away to once you are there!). The Cromer crab salad was poor value at £12.50, although my cheese sandwich was fine. The staff need a bit more organisation and they should pay more attention to the food people leave behind and ask themselves why.

The food was fresh and the coffee/tea was good. We were looking forward to a rest after the walk through the gardens and seeing the Houghton Hall revisited exhibit. If you are there and need a break take it in the restaurant.

Had a lovely meal with eighteen friends as a Christmas gathering. We pre-ordered, and everything was as ordered. The food was promptly served, piping hot too. Thanks to the Brewers Fayre for a relaxing good time.

Popped in for a quick bite after footy. Unfortunately there was no food on the go that day which was disappointing, hence the score as obviously we weren't able to comment on food due to this. Managed to have some pretty tasty crisps that were recommended by the bar though! The pub had a homely local vibe to it, but we were welcomed well, even finding football on the TV for my son was a nice touch of attention as he was in his kit! Will have to go back to sample the food now.

Going, going.......Gone!!! Shut own, who knows what will replace it, probably another housing estate that will cause endless traffic jams.
