We had breakfast at the hotel although we weren't on an inclusive package. The food was cooked to order and nicely served. There were plenty of staff on duty and the restaurant was nicely decorated.

A family and friends celebration - I asked beforehand if vegan options were available and was assured they were. I had: 1 tomato soup- very tasty but only butter served with the white roll 2 A ball of mango sorbet as a ‘refresher’ (lemon sorbet had been ordered) 3 a circle of very chewy rice with a butternut squash mash in the middle 4 another ball of the mango sorbet with frozen cubes of water melon The coffee was very strong and too bitter to drink black. No plant milk or cream - only dairy. Unimaginative, mediocre and boring. With more and more people turning to vegan and vegetarian diets for various reasons the chef needs to get a good cookbook.

Enjoyed a Caesar salad with Salmon - which was quite good. The salmon was cooked just right and the salad of a good quality, included anchovies, bacon, home made croutons, Parmesan cheese. Had to chase the whereabouts of the food, I was the only one in the bar area...not at all busy - hate to say this but service was not great. Biggest negative - charged a gratuity on the bill without agreeing to one - and poor service!

The service here is superb and the menus for dinner is good. You can get a seat near the patio doors, with a lovely view out over the gardens. There is even space outside with tables and chairs, especially good if the weather is fine - though close off your ears to the aircraft noise. But what lets this place down is the breakfast, which is average. No fried eggs, nor even boiled - why?

I treated my friend for her birthday to Afternoon Tea at Ghyll Manor and we had a lovely afternoon. A warm welcome from reception and we were shown to the dining room as there was a wedding reception in the usual rooms. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We were given a choice of teas or a coffee from a selection menu. Four different finger sandwiches on white or brown bread, two plain scones with cream, jam or lemon curd - which was delicious! Followed by mini milk and plain sponges. The only small niggle was my coffee was much too strong and very bitter.

I chose to dine here for mothers day with my family. We managed to get a table and had to pay a deposit at a later date. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to a table in a rather pleasant room with nice lighting. The food was really nice and surprisingly elegantly presented. Flavours were very nice and the main dish was effectively a roast dinner but it was cooked well. I liked that they handed out a small pack of chocolates for the mothers in the room, it adds a little extra. Prices weren't excessive and service great.I recommend.

We had a wonderful evening, with a fantastic three course meal in the main restaurant. The food was out of this world, the low beamed ceilings and the ambient lighting set one up for a special evening for us couples or a delightful evening for larger groups. What with this and our fabulous bedroom, what else could anyone say. Except, we will definitely be coming back

We visited today and received a warm welcome and were guided into a cosy lounge with a lovely open log fire. The very helpful lady gave us a few minutes to suss out the tea we wanted. Loads of choice to cater for all tastes. The afternoon tea arrived as was a good selection of sandwiches on nice fresh thick bread (Brown and white). Usual afternoon tea fillings but done very well so we were very happy. The warm scones were very good and plenty of cream and jam. Cakes were also very good. It's one of the best cream teas we have had and we have been to some other well known places in the area and paid more for lesser quality. Sitting in front of the log fire and full of cream tea we could easily have dozed off. All in all we would definitely recommend. Staff very friendly and helpful and sorted out doggy bag as we couldn't eat it all. Looking forward to tackling the left overs tonight.

We found this hotel/Restaurant on Travelzoo. One nights stay was a worthwhile visit. A manor house dating from the early 1400, originally a priory, it is a sprawling estate with beautiful grounds. A local pub is a short walk. The restaurant provided a superb meal with reasonably priced drinks.

We were looking forward to dining here as we have booked our wedding here for next year. When we arrived there was no staff member around and we waited at the bar for up to 10 minutes. A vague and an unfriendly bar lady attended to us. When we asked for a bottle from the wine list, she got stroppy as she had to collect it in another area of the hotel. Later when we got to our table we were hugely disappointed with the lack of choice on the menu. The starters didn't appeal to any of us apart from my son. He had raviolli which was a hard bit of pasta which tasted like Heinz tomato soup smothered on the top. As he is a trainee chef he was deeply disappointed. The worst bit was the main which was a seabass presented in a crinkled brown bag. It was a whole fish cooked with no taste at all. I was expecting it to be boneless, so we spent half the time picking bones out. The vegetables were over cooked and appeared microwaved. We did complain and the duty manager deducted the two mains off. He was very attentive and apologetic. Which we were satisfied but we are very deeply concerned about the food for our wedding next year. It's a shame as the hotel grounds are absolutely charming. Hope this improves immensely.

No sólo apareció: libro.

We went here for a special occasion, the manor looks great and it's lovely inside. We were invited to go into the very cosy and comfortable parlor to have drinks before our meal. Once seated we were left alone for quite a while, before we were asked again if we would like to order drinks. Once we finally placed our order, and were waiting for our drinks (I should point out we were the only people here at this stage), we were then informed that 1 of the orders wasn't available. When asked what other sherry was available they had to go and check. It's something I would have expected the server to have checked before coming back to let us know it wasn't available and here are the alternatives. So after that start we were a little unsure of how the meal would progress. Particularly after ordering a bottle of wine to have with dinner (on a very small wine list) only to be told that, that too was not available. The food was very enjoyable overall. The pea soup was superb and the other starters were very lovely too. The main was a bit hit and miss, with most of us enjoying our mains, however, the pork shoulder was a little tough an in a large square lump. Having said that, the rest was very nice and well presented. The seasonal vegetables and new potatoes that came with the main was a nice surprise and it was a welcome change that you didn't have to order these. The desserts were also well presented and they went to a special effort to do a birthday plate for us - which was very much appreciated. The service it self was interesting....aside from our drink choices not being available, the water on the table was never topped up, the wine was finished during the entree and we were never asked if we wanted another. The plates weren't neatly placed in front of us and items were picked up/put down across us, rather than to the side. That nit picking aside, the food was enjoyable and the room setting was lovely. We wouldn't eat here again for a special occasion, but I would go back to try their afternoon tea as that read well and it's a good venue for it.

I moved from London to Horsham and have been dinning out in different places after having hundreds of restaurants on my door step. I was told about Ghyll manor and a new chef taking over so decided to pay it a visit. I read trip adviser and was nearly put off by the last review but decided to go any way. The food was stunning and beautifully presented. The flavours were great and in season! Not an asparagus in sight! We had the squash soup to start and I had the cuttlefish, which I have never had before. It was beautiful, tender, and full off flavour. Then I had the pork and my wife had the pheasant both dishes were cooked well and tasted wonderful. I didn't order sides at first but added French beans which came out hot, steaming and quick. The dessert was a dream. I had the chocolate mousse and chocolate ice cream and my wife had the tart. Both were a dream and my wife scoffed hers and stole as much of mine as she could. We had a couple bottles of wine and a coffe to finish and spent just under £100. I have eaten at the Square, Petros, last year and was blown away by them. Ghyll restaurant was up there with them and I am heading back next pay day with some friends in two weeks time. Go and check it out for yourselves and don't be put off with the review before. That guy thought lamb shank and smoked salmon starter was excellent!!!! (Look at his reviews)I will add photos of our dishes.

My sister, my mum and I picked Ghyll Manor for our afternoon tea. It was quite simply amazing. Lots of food, sandwiches, scones with jam & cream, and cake. The tea was replenished before we had even finished the pot, as it had gone cold, and my sister was able to have a hot chocolate instead of tea or coffee. We bought a "doggy bag" home with us with the uneaten food. Our waitress was lovely, continuously checking everything was ok but without being overbearing. There was also a wedding on at the same time but we were not forgotten. I would definatly return and very good value for money. Thank you Ghyll Manor!!

Food was good, and they managed to cater for at least some allergies. No idea about value as I was not paying. Rooms seemed expensive judging by the comments of those staying there.

Excellent refurbishment we really enjoyed our visit there and will certainly be going again. The food was excellent and the waiting staff though inexperienced in the main did a very good job.

Our fiends arranged lunch here as they had visited several times before. So the four of us met up for lunch and what an experience was had by us all!!!. My roast lamb was so tough I could not get my knife to cut it. My lady friend had the same and hers was fine. I mentioned it to the waitress who saidthat she would replace it. The message came back from the chef that it must be a bad batch, despite the fact that my friends' was fine!!. I was asked to choose something else. I ordered lamb chops. When they arrived the others had finished their meal and the chops were served without vegetables, to which the waitress stated that she would get the Chef to 'WARM' some up for me!! I had started to eat the chops and they were almost raw. The vegetables arrived some 5 minutes later. Can you imagine how I felt. We complained to the manageress who said she would talk to her "team" and report back. Needless to say we did not pay for my "meal". Surely with the prices that are charged for eating here they should have someone overseeing the food offerings and the service. Will not recommend eating here at lunchtime. There is a good pub just down the road!!

When practicable experience has shown that a brief visit for morning coffee or afternoon tea is a risk-free formulae for establishing the quality & value of an hotel prior to an overnight stay. So it's a pleasure to report that a lengthy morning spent in a cosy lounge with a roaring fire, delicious coffee and toast, being attended to by smiling courteous staff, followed by a stroll around the premises and gardens will most certainly lead to an overnight stay or dinner at the very least. Get the small things right and one can be reasonably sure the larger issues will be OK too. All terribly British with a hint of the Ye Olde, no East European staff encountered so no need to say everything twice & as yet undiscovered by Yummy Mummies. No doubt on a lovely sunny day sitting in the garden with its view towards the lake will, for the ultra-sensitive, be spoilt by aircraft noise. Such noise will NOT be directly overhead, will not be as bad as it was a decade ago, and you would have to be a bit dim to attend an establishment near an airport and be surprised by the noise of ....................... aircraft.

One night in the restaurant was very good. The other night with the same number of staff the restaurant was busy and the staff could not cope. We waited 45 minutes just to see a menu! The food was also very slow coming but the actual food was very good on both evenings.

Can't find anything to dislike. We have been before and I think the portions may be slightly larger but the quality is still excellent. Always a good sign when, as a person with diet restrictions, you are spoilt for choice between tempting dishes. Friendly, professional service. Excellent.

We had a family gathering in the beautiful setting of Ghyll Manor. Drinks on the terrace overlooking the lawn, trees and lake. Food from the BBQ - great selection of meats, plus salmon and prawns, and an extensive salad choice. A choice of desserts - the crème brulee was a favourite. The hotel is something of a hidden gem with few other customers. It seems a bit under-staffed. It's worth having a post-prandial wander around the lovely grounds. they specialise in hosting weddings - I got married there myself many years ago.

We stayed here overnight and has a delicious afternoon tea and both the evening meal and breakfast were superb. I hate to get runny bits of white in my egg but having mentioned it to the waitress my egg was perfect when it arrived, lovely soft yolk and gently splashed on the outside.

All three courses were delicious, served by delightfully attentive staff. I had the confit of duck which simply fell off the bone - I'd recommend you try it!

Friendly environment with staff only too pleased to meet the needs of the customer, friendly and yet retaining a high level of professionalism. The menu has variety whilst maintaining a Cordon Bleu style of food preparation and presentation. Very well done.

Stayed overnight and ate in the Restaurant. The meal was very good from a a compact traditional menu but the presentation was contemporary. For starters the spinach and potato soup was a small portion but my Terrine was generous and tasty. The main portions were enough without being too daunting and my steak was tender and with a good flavour and had been trimmed of fat. The sweets were a good size but while my Sticky Toffee Pudding was light with ice cream the Chocolate Orange Creme Brulee was too sweet and heavy for our taste. Overall though an enjoyable meal with a special mention to the staff whose service was efficient and attentive. One observation is that the Hotel is owned by the CSMA and most of the guests were of a certain age but there was a nice relaxed atmosphere to the place and the staff did everything they could to help. The Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty and the food on the whole can be recommended.

Nice enough pub, with a reasonable drinks selection and friendly staff. We visited for a family lunch (on recommendation) and the place is very geared up for food. However, the food is absolutely dreadful: over cooked, bland and (in the case of the bao buns that I had) inedibly dry. Seems very popular, for reasons unknown to this visitor.

Warm and friendly staff, great setting with lovely beer garden and children's play area. Our favourite pub in steyning

We ordered breakfast at out table and it was delivered quickly with every detail perfectly executed. The food was hot and fresh and really tasty. The drinks were also perfect. I paid what I thought was a fair price and will definitely be returning. You’ll go a long way to find better food in Horsham.

Unfortunately we felt on this occasion the food really was not up to the usual standard - whitebait over cooked - chips not their usual crispy delicious standard - but everyone has an off day and we said it would not deter us from returning HOWEVER we found out as we were leaving that after 14 years of trading the Orchard is due to close at the end of September 😔 So sad as , as a family some who are no longer with us it was always are “go to” place for a good quality home cooked meal . So what ever the owners plans are for the future we wish them good luck 😋
