The Restaurant at Duisdale House Hotel in Highland

Took my mum out for lunch on Mother’s Day. It was a splendid experience with the most friendly staff. Everyone was smiling, great service and very good food. Will be back.

We stared at the sister hotel Toravaig House Hotel and were driven down to Duisdale House for dinner. Very good service in pick up and drop off, very good service in restaurant, food good too.

We made a very late booking and as we had dogs we were seated in the bar. It didn’t matter. The staff were brilliant. The bartender suggested a gin and tonic combination that was exquisite. The manager took our food order and provided attentive service despite us being the only party eating in the bar. We felt like we were the only customers and it felt so intimate. The food was beyond delicious. I can’t wait to come back.

We went as a group of 8 for dinner. The hotel/restaurant is beautiful. The servers were all fantastic but the best part was the food. The pate starter was great. Everyone loved their mains but I will say my cod was exceptional. Desserts were equally amazing. Great dinner.

This restaurant was great for an intimate fine dining experience. The options were great and the wait staff was very informative and checked for any allergies. We really enjoyed breakfast and dinner here. For dinner we had the Mushroom starter, Aubergine and Hake dishes with sides of Broccoli and Potato, and ended with carrot cake dessert. All were very tasty and beautifully prepared!

My husband and I had a lovely birthday meal in the conservatory at Duisdale House in July. The location was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient. At the end, as a really nice surprise, they topped it off with a wonderful, 'Happy Birthday' message on slate decorated with some gorgeous chocolate truffles. Highly recommended.

We arrived in our sailboat and tied up at one of the Duisdale’s 5 moorings, which appear to be very well maintained. We made reservations at the Chartroom Bar (which serves the full menu) as we were told they are pet friendly, and our dog was warmly welcomed by all. The food was excellent with a very interesting and unique menu. Our server Frank was also quite interesting and very personable.

Had a great dinner. Superb food and service. Would highly recommend and hopefully will come back if visiting Isle of Skye again.

Firstly, the food was poor. The crab tortellini were dry and the cod main course, which we both had, was completely unseasoned. Secondly, the service was dreadful. There were plenty of staff, mostly walking around not actually looking at the customers, but no evidence of them being managed. The waiter who took our order 'forgot' the bottle of white wine which eventually arrived, after we reminded someone, 15 minutes after we had finished the first course. It came already opened and was just dumped on the table in a wine bucket. When we poured it it turned out to be warm and undrinkable. Then the main course turned up and it transpired that our waiter had also forgotten to order our two side dishes. Given the relatively expensive prices we expected to have a memorable meal but in fact it was unacceptable. We eat out 2 or 3 times a week so we know what we are talking about. Avoid!

Was very impressed. Friendly staff and high quality dining in a great location. We were told they have a skilled pastry chef and it showed, but actually everything was very well put together, tasty, high quality and without fault. Will definitely dine there again when we are in the area and in fact are now tempted to stay there too!

An excellent dining experience, fabulous setting with wonderful views. The team where exceptional and Stefano was a very funny & entertaining host.

What a lovely warm welcome we received from Neil. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he showed us into a beautiful sitting room and he lit the fire for us. We were served delicious sandwiches and the most scrumptious scones, fresh cream and tasty jam 😋 Wonderful, will visit again very soon.

We booked a table for two - (two weeks ago for our wedding anniversary.) then this evening 50 mins before the booking the hotel phoned to say they were cancelling our booking because carpet fitters had not finished in time ! Massively disappointed is an understatement ! Obviously too late to get a table anywhere else now - terrible service! The late cancellation is the issue !

Everything exceeded expectations. From the outside in this hotel is a combination of stunning and cozy. The staff are kind and attentive. Our meal was delicious, and 6 courses! Even my 6’3 red blooded American cowboy of a husband felt stuffed afterward. My husband pushed his boundaries with food but enjoyed every plate. The Christmas pudding was his favorite. We finished with an espresso and a coffee. If you are a friendly person who enjoys making new friends this would be a lovely place to stay. We stayed elsewhere but there was a large group in the salon after lunch socializing when we left. Our waitress rose was great, as was the host although his name escapes me!

We were recommended the hotel for an evening meal and were not disappointed. There was a good selection from the menu and wine list and the staff were very helpful. it became an excellent experience for us all. Dietary requirements were met easily. Would be happy to return and eat again.

I ate here a few years ago and the food was really good, but when I went back something has changed and it was not nearly as good. Still, if you want a meal, the food here is just about average, but they charge quite a lot for the quality of their food.

We were at the restaurant for a wedding and looking forward to it given the reputation - but it clearly doesn't deserve the hype. The portion size was small at best, a three course evening meal was barely enough to feed the average person for a light lunch. Taste wise it was fine, but nothing to take a diversion for. The service was pretty ropey and the bar prices an absolute joke - at least double anywhere else we visited on the island. Unless someone else is paying - I wouldn't bother.

Lunched here in 2012 and had such good memories we decided to travel the 55 miles from Geary for lunch and oh dear we shouldn't have bothered. Starter of Mallard was absolutely delicious and was that a hint of what was to follow? Err, no. Plain uninspiring mains were what followed. And that sums it up really, it's almost like chef had brilliant ideas for starters but absolutely no ideas for main courses, steak chicken fish etc. All rather boring and the chicken I had was frankly dull whilst my wife's steak was stringy and tough. In summary: very average pub food and way way over priced. £80 for two lunches with one glass of wine is really pushing it. Example we had lunch in Loch Bay at Stein for a fiver more and that was sensational so go there for lunch, not here I'm afraid. Duisdale, you need to try much harder.

Dès l'entrée dans cette magnifique maison victorienne au décor soigneusement préservé de tout modernisme inesthétique et pourtant parfaitement fonctionnel, on est sous le charme. Pour atteindre notre table située dans une large véranda ( vue sur la mer et de beaux arbres ), on traverse un salon très cosy ( fauteuils profonds, vaste cheminée ouvragée, petits guéridons fleuris...) où l'on aimerait passer une soirée sereine, un verre à la main... La table est mise avec beaucoup de faste et de goût : nappe blanche et serviettes en tissu immaculées, couverts argentés, verres à pied...tout laisse présager un service de qualité. Et le reste suit : le risotto aux champignons servi ( entre autres accompagnements ) avec la pièce de boeuf Angus parfaitement cuite et fondante ( je l'ai demandée "raw" bleue ) est subtil, et le crumble pomme-groseilles du dessert ( copieux, servi avec une sauce au beurre et au whisky, le tout tiède comme il se doit ) est à se damner ! Si j'habitais moins loin, je deviendrais une habituée de ce restaurant pour pouvoir goûter aux autres plats de la carte !

Cenamos allí y nos sorprendió el alto nivel de servicio, calidad de la comida y el ambiente en general. Esto es lo que un hotel tradicional por país mercado debería ser pero desafortunadamente están desapareciendo rápidamente. Si quieres ir a algún lugar especial durante su tiempo en Skye recomiendo este restaurante para una cena excelente.

What an outstanding night! I would like to start the review by thanking every single one of the staff members at Duisdale hotel! From the front of house, to the chefs, to the waiters/waitresses and cleaners!! The food was outstanding, we sat in the lounge on lovely comfortable seating with the log fire on beside us, perfect place for us as parents to relax! We were then brought canopies along out with our drinks which was a lovely surprise! They tasted just out of this world! We felt like royalty! The starters, mains and deserts were beautifully presented and tasted amazing! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff couldn't have been nicer! Very very well priced! The place was spotlessly clean and the bathroom decor was lovely to! Thank you so much for making our very rare parents night out a night we'll never forgot!

Four of us stayed for 3 days and there was not a complaint about any meal! Truly exceptional! Breakfast offered sensible full Scottish and the dinners were imaginative and creative blends of wonderful fresh produce.

I've eaten in some fancy restaurants and many black tie dinners and I can honestly say this was some of the best, if not the best food, I've ever eaten. It was cooked to perfection; I'm a vegetarian and the dishes I had used fairly standard ingredients, but they tasted a cut above most places. The service was quick (though being off season we ended up being the only couple in the restaurant after not long!) and attentive, and we even had our half bottle of wine taken off the bill because there was some confusion over where we were supposed to be (I thought I had booked the Toravaig House Hotel restaurant and initially we went there, but it turned out to be closed), a very nice gesture. I was excited to hear that the fixed menu changes every day, and would love to return in future for some more amazing food.

We stayed in the Duisdale Hotel for an anniversary, which was a perfectly romantic setting. The food at the restaurant was incredible. To start, we were presented with our hors d'œuvres by a roaring fire, before being led to the main restaurant where we were served beautifully cooked and flavoursome scallops with cod and samphire. The service was excellent and I very much hope to return!

Upon arrival we were welcomed warmly and shown to the lounge which is actually a large drawing room or gathering place where the dinner guests are offered the menu of the evening and the option of a beverage. Upon placing an order an amuse bouche is presented, this evening we had a mushroom parfait, a miniature haggis tart and salmon tartare. After being shown to our table we were offered fresh baked bread which was still warm. My husband had the wood pigeon foie gras starter and I had a delightful poached pear, fresh fig, goat cheese starter. A lentil soup followed. For our main course, my husband selected the lamb loin and I chose the fresh cod. For dessert we selected the raspberry cheesecake with white chocolate ice cream and a cherry frangipane with a cream cheese sorbet. The staff was knowledgable and attentive.

Great food presented beautifully and so fresh and flavorful. We had 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts here during our stay and it was perfect every time. Each meal was better than the last. We highly recommend this as a hotel and restaurant if you are ever in the isle of Skye.

We rode past on our bikes and were drawn to the hotel with its beautiful gardens. The service was excellent with a wide selection of local fare. The mussels were amazing. Prices were similar to other less capable Restaurants. We would have loved to stay here as well but were on a package tour. A definite must if on Skye.

Wir sind zufällig auf der Suche nach einem Lokal für den Lunch auf das Duisdale gestoßen - dank einer Vollbremsung beim unmittelbar bei der Einfahrt stehenden Schildes. Wir sind sehr freundlich als einzige Gäste begrüsst und zum Speisen in die Bar verfrachtet worden, wo es sich aber auch schön sitzt. Die Karte schien uns typisch für eines der besseren Schottischen Lokale, die Preise sind gesalzen, das Essen ebenso typisch leicht fade vom schwarzen Pudding einmal abgesehen. Es war sehr schön, mit etwas nachsalzen sehr gut - aber für unseren Geschmack überteuert.

I first visited Duisdale over 35 years ago, as a child, and enjoyed a Ploughmans for lunch. It's changed a bit since then!I love the way you settle in the lounge with a menu, pre-dinner drinks and canapés. Then you're taken through to the beautifully decorated dining area by staff who are attentive and professional. This isn't a precocious fine dining experience though, it's a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.The meal itself consisted of starter, soup, main, pre-dessert (we seemed to have missed this but not a problem) and dessert. All for the price of £45. One slight criticism is that there's a lot of soup and perhaps not as much main as expected however we didn't leave feeling hungry. I would recommend dining here to anyone visiting Skye, or to the locals who live there too. Delicious food, lovely décor, great service. This wasn't my first visit just my first review.There's also a "bar menu" which I've yet to sample. Roll on July to try that out.

Restaurant de l'excellent hôtel éponyme. La cuisine est assez recherchée, les cuissons parfaites et le service impeccable. Pour ne rien gâcher, la salle est très agréable (quoiqu'un peu sombre) et donne sur un magnifique jardin. Une belle adresse.

This is a lovely hotel which has a very attractive restaurant which is furnished in a stylish, traditional but modern style. The service was excellent and the food was very good indeed. It is quite pricey but the quality of the ingredients and the presentation match those prices. My son described the cheesecake as the best he has had. I would recommend dinner in this hotel for anyone looking for a special night out on a visit to the Sleat end of Skye.

My wife and I went to the Duisdale for a meal. The welcome at the door was a very nice touch. We sat in the lounge with the menu and met some visitors to the area. The atmosphere was very relaxed and people were happy to chat.Our five course meal was excellent as was the service. Coffee or tea was served in the lounge after the meal and this gave me time to relax and was a lovely finish to the meal.The icing on the cake was when the owners joined us in the lounge.Negatives ~ there are none!

Dinner during our 2 night stay was a real treat, and we loved our 5 course menu each night!Using some amazing local produce and some very skilled chefs, we enjoyed our dining thoroughly. There's a nice selection of meat, fish and seafood on the menus, and our stay was nicely complimented by the great staff.If you're staying, enjoy delights on offer, and if you're thinking of visiting for dinner, it's a must if you're on Skye.Enjoy!

Saia uma diaria e meia do que estávamos pagando. Dissemos que não podíamos com esses valores. Nos deram outro menu e comemos pouco e muito caro! A comida é boa, mas não vale o que se cobra por ela...

We booked Christmas Day lunch at Duisdale House Hotel and when the big day finally arrived, we were excited about the five course menu.From the moment we arrived at the hotel from the moment we walked out the door at the end, the service, ambience, and food was flawless.We were welcomed with the offer of a pot of tea in front of the roaring log fire in the lounge. Very comfortable and cozy.We then went through to the restaurant to our dinner on the dot of four o'clock, our booked time.We had alerted the hotel in advance that we were vegetarian and that we also wanted Elderflower Presse to drink, instead of alcohol and there was a bottle waiting on our table for us.We then enjoyed a 5 course vegetarian meal that I can only describe as one of the best meals I have ever had in my life.1. Wild mushroom risotto2. Tomato and lentil Soup3. Winter vegetables with pea puree and veg. gravy.4. Sorbet5. Baily's Pannacotta with brandy snaps and cream for me, and Scottish cheese board with home made oatcakes for my husband.The service was friendly but very professional and smooth.Following dinner, we retired back to the lounge for tea and home made shortbread.We relaxed in the lounge talking to other couples well into the evening.We were never hurried or felt like we had outstayed our welcome!The whole meal was £55.00 per head which I regard as extremely good value for money.Both my husband and I said that the meal was worth more like £100.00 per head for the quality, service, and ambience.I can only thank the staff for such a wonderful day and highly recommend this restaurant.Duisdale have got it just right.
