The Regent Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We were pleasantly surprised by this place! Every other place in town was closed, and we were initially not convinced by the look of the place, but we were wrong to judge - the food was delicious! The BLTA was the best sandwich I have had in a long time, and everyone else was very happy with their order!

A lovely cafe. We had the spicy burnt soup and cake: chocolate and passion fruit! The staff, soup and cakes were great! Just watch for when open in the winter!

We have visited the Regent cafe a couple of times. The last time three days ago. We were surprised to find that the business had changed hands. We were warmly welcomed, served with a very nice coffee with an Ample portions of scampi and chips nicely cooked. Some parking outside with tables for outdoor dining. Directly across the road is ample parking on what was the village green. Honesty boxes for donations are available. We enjoyed our visit to The Regent cafe and the lizard and recommend a visit when in the area.

Went out for Steak night (although all items on the menu and specials board looked tempting) and it was delicious. Great staff, very relaxed atmosphere and it was clean and tidy everywhere. When the food came it was hot, generous portion, well presented and tasty. Have been before for a breakfast which was also very good, lucky enough to sit outside that time, table service is also very good. Would thoroughly recommend for a treat, although be quick, winter hours and seasonal closures are imminent 1😉👍⚓️

We visited the Regent as the pub was no longer serving food and was so glad we did ! The food was amazing, we had the fish it was presented well and cooked to perfection , we have been back on 2 more occasions since as we were visiting the area again, so also bought along family. Highly recommend and the deserts are delicious 😋

It's a bit like any old dinner anywhere. Burgers, chicken, 🍟chips. Fish 🐟. But good for what it is.

We were visiting The Lizard and fancied something to eat, so we popped into The Regent, we were welcomed by friendly staff and a nice modern style restaurant. Good range of meals and all the food we had was very tasty, no complaints at all.

Our ladies' motorbike group did a detour to the Lizard, on a day out. As cafes go, this was expensive. My friend ordered deep-fried Brie in breadcrumbs. What she got was 3 small pieces of Brie with what looked like a green twig but was actually a single piece of some sort of lettuce. It cost £7.00. Absolutely not worth the money for 3 tiny pieces of deep-fried cheese. We won't be doing any of our days out there again. I overheard a gent say that he felt it was expensive artisan snobbery.

We enjoyed 2 evening meals at the cafe. Don't be put off by the name, this is a restaurant. The staff were welcoming and service good. The specials are worth trying the brisket burger was great. Worth making a reservation especially at this time of year when other places have restricted opening times.

Nice cafe and they do a great breakfast

Lovely food here, most enjoyable, sat on bench outside with our dog. Seafood special (Hake, Mussels, Prawns) was beautiful. As was the grilled halloumi salad that my partner had. Some beers on draft too.

The food was amazing and super tasty 😋 what let the place down was the 1 rude member of staff and the fact my mate spent £17 on steak to receive the steak over cooked and missing the eggs from the steak and egg breakfast menu. Would happily go back but will look in before going in to make sure I'm not served by the same women again

It was a surprise to find at least 3 cafes open for lunchtime meals in the small village of Lizard and we chose the Regent for our lunch as much for its easy parking as for anything else. We all chose from the Brunch menu and our meals were duly delivered with well filled plates. Everything was tasty, thoroughly enjoyable and good value for money. Yes, we would eat there again.

We visited The Regent Cafe & Grill in The Lizard, Cornwall with advice from the General Manager at The Mullion Cove Hotel. From the moment we stepped inside, we were met with a heartwarming welcome from an elderly worker, who made us feel welcome. The elderly worker, whose radiant smile lit up the room, took extra care of us, ensuring that our meal was a delightful journey. Our visit to The Regent Cafe & Grill proved to be a worthwhile and memorable one. We left with full hearts and satisfied palates, eager to explore the hidden gem in Cornwall. Thank you Regent Cafe & Grill!! We will come back again.

We were so pleased we found this place. It did look a little unwelcoming next to a building development but we were wrong. The service was so friendly, nothing was a problem for them. The cafe has a great bar area and has a wide range of drinks on offer. The hot chocolate with toasted marshmallows went down a treat with the kids. The food was incredible. We ordered off the boards in the cafe .Grazing plates for starters. We had mussels and squid which were incredible, so tasty and beautifully garnished. Our main courses of catch of the day and Asian pork burger were of a high standard. The catch of the day we agreed was one of the best tasting and presented dishes we have had in a while. The kids had fish and chips which were fantastic. The cafe was very busy but this didn’t affect the service. We will definitely return .

Lived in Cornwall my whole life and love the lizard, however, I won't be going back to the regent. Popped in today with my two boys, partner and dog. The atmosphere was cold and uninviting and the staff were just rude. Felt very unwelcome, there was no cutlery and when we asked for some we were given two sets for the four of us, drinks just dumped on the table and the woman who took our order was just so rude, either because we were beneath her or we were an inconvenience - either way, we're the ones going in and spending our hard earned money, which won't be happening again and I'll be sure to let all my friends and family know. The food was ok, it certainly wasn't anything to sing about, my sons chicken burger was a bit bland. The only additional thing we asked for was no chips on my partner's ham, egg and chips as he eats keto, weren't offered any substitute e.g. an extra egg, salad etc and they still served it with chips. There are loads of lovely little places to get a bite to eat around the lizard with tasty food and friendly service, my advice is to go and give them your money.

What first appealed to me was that they offer cheaper, small portions of fish and chips for those who do not want a large portion. What most impressed me was that the fries were excellent, as was the surprisingly large portion of fish. Friendly hosts, wide range of food, excellent location.

Very good kitchen superb cesars salad very good shrimps and a yummy carrot cake. And they serve capuccino like in italy

We ate dinner here last night around 7pm, was made to feel welcome even though we turned up quite late. We sat outside to eat as we had our dog with us. Good selection of food on the menu, ordered at the bar and didn't have to wait too long for our order to come out to us. Food was freshly cooked and hot, drinks were good too. We are on holiday down this way and will definitely return again!

After doing a walk along the coast and back we were pretty hungry and found most places had closed for the day, we were also disappointed that the local fish and chip shop in Lizard doesn't do Gluten Free, but then we we so relieved to find this restaurant. The accommodating staff showed us the menu with GF options and served us with drinks straight away. The food wasn't too far behind and was tasty!

We were visiting lizard looking for some where to have lunch before popping down to the point. After wandering around an not finding anywhere that suited us we saw the Regent and thought we’d give it a go. Service was fast and friendly, food was good and a varied menu. We will definitely be eating there again in the future.

Lovely café with a beautiful breakfast, probably one of the nicest we’ve ever had! Served quickly and all staff were extremely friendly! Perfect stop for anyone who’s visiting Lizard Point!

A day off together always starts well with a good breakfast and happily we chose this lovely place. Its a great airy space, well set out with good Comfy seating. Food menu and specials boards are mouth watering we opted for the small breakfast which was tasty and just right. Friendly staff with great service!

American style diner, with a moderate menu selection. Unfortunately you have to order at the till. Tried the local filled up burger which came with chips. My wife had the lamb kofta dish. Both dishes were very tasty and prepared in good time. We also had the vegetable pancake rolls from the starter menu and they were very tasty too. Service was okay but somewhat distant. Ambiance was quite flat. The prices are quite high. A reasonable place to eat, but probably won't go back.

On a pleasant, sunny evening we decided to visit the Regent Cafe. On entering the cafe, the staff were fairly uninviting, although not unpleasant. The food was fairly expensive, and the bottle of wine very expensive. We sat outside to enjoy the sun and when the food arrived, it was pretty good. The cafe has been updated recently, after a change in ownership, but it looked pretty austere and cold, particularly from the outside.

While we were at the Lizard we had three takeaways from the Regent cafe and all three meals were really good value for the money and the food was excellent and good sized portions would highly recommend them.

Clean and friendly, dogs welcome. They made sure a bowl of fresh drinking water was available. Food is lovely and fresh. Would definitely visit again

The best cafe in Helston, if not the whole of the Lizard peninsula. Very friendly atmosphere, and they don't skimp on the portions.

Only welcomed in once we spoke , order of hot drinks took over 20 minutes to come out and my tea was incorrect .asked fir breakfast tea . Coffee was forgotten entirely . Scones were reheated and very salty . Service was very slow and fir 3 drinks and 3 cakes it took forever . Not impressed . The hot food coming out by the chef looked very appealing and delicious and was coming out quickly and looked hot and really appetising but we wouldn't go back .

Fish and chips for lunch at Regent Cafe today, top notch meal with fast and friendly service. Chef obligingly adjusted one of the meals to cater for certain ingredient intolerances. Our first visit since ownership changed and still has that special blend of quality food, good service and value for money.

This is a story in several stages. We spontaneously dropped by for lunch. First something healthy, 3 super tasty smoothies, iced. Then came the first act. When I wanted to order the BBQ sardines, the service said that I was the first to order them because they were brand new on the menu. So, I had to have them! My wife ordered a pot of mussels. The 2nd act. The waitress came after a few minutes with the message that the chef is very dissatisfied with the quality of the mussels and he doesn't want to offer them. Without further ado, my wife then changed the order, of course. So here it comes. We have been in England for 2 weeks and have always had lunch. The BBQ sardines were by far the best lunch I've had, and 1st !!!! And, although my wife re-ordered a more expensive dish than mussels, no extra charge was made, although we would have paid that of course. Conclusion: top quality, courage not to spend money on food because you have doubts about the quality. We think that's absolutely top. So it's quite a crowd, and that's for a small lunch. no matter how, thanks to the team for the honest dealings, the generosity, and for my "gold medal", for being the 1st to order the sensational sardines!!!!

I had holidays with my family in Lizard over 5 days we went to this cafe several times, the staff was always very polite, friendly. The breakfast is wonderful my daughter is allergic and we made a mistake in ordering and they were very kind to us. I want to thank all the staff for their professionalism. Had a really nice meal here today the three of us really enjoyed it the burgers are delicious, the club sandwich was one of the best I've had, we got a portion of the truffle fries and onion rings for us to share with our meals and they were yummy, the staff are very welcoming and the service was first class, definitely recommend this place we have no negative comments at all it's really worth a visit 👌

Have not been since a nasty woman in the shop had a right go at me wife for using the toilet when she was told by someone else she could. Hopefully she has now left or retired, but it totally destroyed our day in the area. When it's that time of the month, you need the loo, not some lecture about not being able to use it as it's for the cafe !!! We planned on using the cafe afterwards, but we sure didn't after that experience. Thankfully the new owners are planning on taking it to the next level and are warm and friendly.
