Visited yesterday for my birthday and I was so impressed- the best dining experience I’ve ever had. I have a nut allergy and I am always wary eating out, but we informed them ahead of time and when we arrived our server assured us there was no nuts on the premises. One of the chefs actually came out and served us our first course and told me he had a nut allergy as well which really reassured me. The service was phenomenal and the food exceptional. I will definitely return 😄

I would love to review the food, as we had looked forward to our lunch visit all week when on holiday in Port Issac. Little did we know when booking, Nathan Outlaw restaurants do not accept children under 10. We were refused our table when we arrived. I have since taken the same steps to book to see what I missed, and the website skips over these critical details when you click to reserve a table. As if this information is totally irrelevant to booking. Completely unacceptable in my eyes. I agree that children may ruin the ambience of the New Road restaurant, but the relaxed Kitchen site you’d think it not an issue. I don’t think we would consider returning, even with children over 10. I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

Service excellent. Food tasty. But without the x 3 slices of bread we were given to accompany our meal we would have left hungry. V v small portions. The lobster cocktail - one teaspoon each. The cured bass was x 3 slithers. Cuttlefish- delicious but could have done with x 4 times the amount each!!! The main was John Dory - full of bones… nice sauce and we had 1.5 new potatoes each with it and a tiny portion of butter squash. Pudding was a small pot of pear slithers, cream and crumb with a blackberry sauce…. Not a Michelin star pudding as I feel I could have easily put this together. I appreciate it is fine dining and all was yummy but when you pay just under £350 for x 2 gins, a bottle of wine, 1 x desert wine and slithers really not on. First time we went November 2021 and didn't find any of the above - seemed larger portions… and this last time will probably be our last as really not overwhelmed. 1.5 drive to get there. Ps the toilet… more room in aeroplane toilets!! https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186242-d1168278-r978467592-Outlaw_s_Fish_Kitchen-Port_Isaac_Cornwall_England.html#

OK, I’ve been here a few times over the years and I’ve always had an exceptional experience. This visit was the best. The prep work that goes into the fish in each dish is faultless and perfectly detailed. The cooking and curing is on another level and the service is friendly and efficient. The locally caught tuna with mushroom and lime was the stand out dish, sublime. Cured brill with cumber, pickled green chilli and coriander yoghurt was beautifully balanced. Anchovies are a great fish but elevated by the lemon and olive oil that set off the salt. Can’t wait for the next visit whenever that may be, I’ll try to make it’s soon though.

The food was fantastic, knocked spots off Rick Steins Seafood Restaurant we visited earlier that week. Everything we had was fresh and with great flavours, which you wouldnt have thought would have worked, but they did. The raw Blue Fin Tuna was caught locally as they are now back in the bay due to the warmer waters. I've never got on with tuna steaks very well. This was on another level with the tomatoes and sauce. The soused Red Mullet with carrot was a great combination, as was the lobster and crab cocktail with basil and orange. Fantastic flavours. The star of the show was the full John Dory cooked on the bone. A great blend of herby butter made this our favourite dish. The vanilla set cream and blackberries was a great little dessert to finish with. The spiced oat crumb which was toasted gave a perfect texture to the cream. Overall a fantastic meal, made better by the great service from the host and the nice touch of the chef's coming out to explain the dishes. Cant wait to go back

Fish Kitchen didn’t fail to delight. We went for a treat meal during our week in Port Isaac and loved it so much we went back two nights later! The fish was amazing, special mention to the tuna and mackerel. Everything was cooked to perfection to showcase the great product. Loved the sharing concept and the main choice of a whole piece of fish was plenty to share. Very good value considering the standard of the offering. Lovely Camel vineyard rosé as well. Special mention to Emma, Becky and James with the exemplary service. As we were returnees within a couple of days we were offered a different option of lemon sole for the main which was so thoughtful. We were made to feel friends just enjoying the wonderful food in a cosy atmosphere. Having walked past in previous visits we are so glad we booked this time. Perfect excuse to visit Port Isaac again very soon.

Located in the center of Port Isaac. Parking further above the village. It is not recommended to drive to the restaurant by car. We visited the restaurant on a quiet evening during the week. We immediately received a friendly welcome. The fish restaurant is quite small, the service was perfect. There was a set menu with 5 starters, followed by the main course and dessert. Each of the dishes was super delicious! You pay enough but the price/quality is really good. For gastronomy lovers!

We travelled from North Yorkshire to enjoy the gastronomy that is now in Cornwall.. The treat of the week was Nathan Outlaws fish kitchen.. I contacted the restaurant to let them know my views of our meal and have waited for a reply for two weeks.. The restaurant has not yet bothered to contact me.. A little rude perhaps and maybe they think the opinions of their loyal diners, don't matter so much these days....? The food we received on the evening was dull, listless and utterly utterly boring... Hake Croquettes to start, just stacked in a bowl with a dip.. No imagination, No colour, nothing unique... Next up, Lobster cocktail.. More colour, but nothing more than you could assemble at home.. Next, Monkfish carpacchio.. Brown... with blobs of sauce on top, not even Michelin pearl shaped sauce, just rushed blobs from a squeezy bottle.. Next Brown butterfly Mackerel, with brown tapenade.. Where is the colour, the inventive local ingrediens..? I understand the local fish is supposed to be the star of the show, but why not use more local Cornish accompaniments with panache.. Next up and possibly the most disappointing dessert we have ever had in a restaurant, let alone a restaurant with star... Raspberry cream, with a crumble topping. Desperately dull and something that a child might try at home.. There was no inventiveness, nothing grabbed at our attention and a long way to go for a very bland experience.. It appears martinmonkeyman had the same bland experience in August. I would save your money and go to Paul Ainsworth at the Mariners in Rock.. We went to Rick Steins after all these years and had the most enjoyable seafood lunch, terrific service and interesting food at both his Fishmongers bar and the Seafood Restaurant. Sorry to shout about our experience to the rest of the world, but I thought you might have bothered to read my letter I sent on your customer feedback form, two weeks ago....

I didnt know Nathan Outlaw had a more relaxed restaurant in Port Isaac so was delighted when local friends booked it for lunch with us (they're regulars there). The food and service really were exceptionally good with each almost tapas style course seemingly delivered by a different member of staff, including the chef! We ordered virtually everything on the menu (specials included!) as there were six of us so lots of mouths to feed. They only offer fish (unsurprising given the name) but dont go with a non fish eater hoping to order something else. Cant recommend enough

Dinner Port Isaac. Within a Grade II listed 15th century fisherman’s cottage overlooking the harbour and the sea. There's not many decent restaurants open on a Monday night, unusually this is. Bookings are either 6.00pm or 8.30pm. The earlier time slot was full and we managed to get in for the later time. It is basically two sittings, as it's a very small restaurant with only 8 tables. Whatever you do,don't arrive early as they will not let you in until your time. Of course we were early and had a drink in the pub opposite anxiously waiting for the door to open. When booking,we thought it looked cheap at £95 a head for a One Michelin Star restaurant. Having a second look at our reservation,we realised it was for a sharing menu. So, it's a tasting menu to share and you get to chose off what's called 'When the boat comes in' board for the main course. Which is the catch of the day. You start off with 3 nibbles,Scallop tartare, cured monkfish, smoked trout with warm bread and butter. Followed by 3 seafood plates,Crab & heritage tomatoes,a nice peice of Bass and a breaded Hake. From the board we chose the Turbot on the bone. Cooked to perfection with a beautiful butter and herb sauce, served with a fresh anchovy and tomato salad. Looking round at the other tables, everyone else had chosen the lobster. Well we like to be different, and Lobster is a little overated in our opinion anyway. Dessert was a refreshing strawberry and elderflower cream with an oat crumble. The food is simple, but yet effective and delicious. Staff are very friendly and professional. We were all done and dusted in the space of two hours, from start to finish. It didn't feel rushed,it's just a very slick service. Would we return? Yes, in a heartbeat.

As part of our ‘foodie’ trip around Cornwall, my OH and I had to eat at one of Nathan Outlaw’s two restaurants in Port Isaac. The restaurant offers a set menu of 6 sharing dishes with the option of choosing an additional sharing dish that depends upon what’s available as ‘catch of the day’ all followed by a set dessert. I recognise that the notion of sharing dishes may not be to everyone’s liking but we had no issues whatsoever. The restaurant is small and cosy right opposite the harbour with maybe 20 covers (so booking is essential). The room is bright and airy and the atmosphere casual. Overall, our food was excellent in every way and the fish was some of the best I’ve tasted in Cornwall. Everything was really well presented, and the flavours were excellent. Our meal started with ‘nibbles’ which were a trio of scallop tartare, monkfish and smoked trout with homemade sourdough (to clean up the lovely jus); they tasted really good, especially the scallops. This was followed by another series of sharing dishes that included crab and heritage tomatoes, sea bass and panko breaded hake. Each of these dishes was sublime, the crab and tomatoes were tangy but the hake was something else; the hake was so white and incredibly fresh and was perfectly complemented by the pea, mint and broad bean mayo; it tasted beautiful. Being asked if we needed more sourdough alongside these courses was appreciated as the sauces these dishes came with were exceptional and weren’t to be wasted. For our shared main course, we chose sole (which was cooked in sauce) along with an anchovy salad. Once again, the fish was excellent, and the sole was a decent size too. For dessert we had an elderflower cream with strawberries and oat crumble. Although I couldn’t really taste the elderflower, it was nonetheless a lovely dessert and rounded off our meal perfectly. Service was excellent; it wasn’t rushed and the lady who served us was really professional and friendly. Our bill came to just under £265 which included a bottle of wine. Overall, my OH and I agreed the meal was perfect in every way. Having eaten at Adam Handling’s Ugly Butterfly in St Ives a few nights previous I have to make a comparison here. Having spent nearly £170 more at the Ugly Butterfly (without wine), our Nathan Outlaw experience was equally as good and terrific value for money. I’d definitely come again.

All the dishes were outstanding as well as the service and ambience of the restaurant which is small and intimate. The focus of the restaurant is sustainable fishing and local produce. I appreciate it’s a quirky old building and I probably didn’t wear enough clothes, but it would have been lovely if the food was piping hot. Unfortunately 5 out of the 6 dishes were either cold or lukewarm. They were tasty no doubt and beautifully prepared but as the evening progressed, I felt colder and colder. We dined here this evening as part of the Winter Foodie Break offered by the Nathan Outlaw business. The wait staff were superb; friendly, polite, accommodating and perfectly balanced in terms of comment. The kitchen staff turned out eight superb courses, and for our tastes (very personal thing) we rated the Dover Sole tops, then the red mullet, the crispy hake and the smoked cod’s roe. We found the ‘pace’ of the dishes to be spot on, perfectly timed. We accepted the recommendation of the Soave Classico and had no regrets, a beautiful wine. For me, presenting the Dover Sole with garlic, squash and cheese, allowing each element to be tasted without any one of them overpowering the others is masterful. I rarely comment on the reviews of others but can’t help myself this time - too many fish courses at a Fish Kitchen? Complete bonkers. And leaving hungry after this tasting menu? Nonsense, a complete fabrication. I’d highly recommend this outstanding restaurant.

We had dinner here as a belated celebration. Improvement on New Road as not so many courses, be both love fish but there comes a point when enough is enough. A couple of the courses were unusual, the cuttlefish curry is not something I would order, and never will again. My husband was greatly looking forward to the tuna, unfortunately here it was so overcooked it tasted like a burger. The side order of cabbage was delicious, possibly as I was craving vegetables after two nights of nothing but fish. Like New Road we wouldn’t eat here again

Booked for our anniversary meal on a Monday out of season and restaurant was full. Warm welcome and choice of table. Great service throughout. We definitely had favourite courses - the Pickled Mackerel was absolutely outstanding, as was the brill on the bone with grilled cabbage (who knew that despite a perfectly cooked fish, the cabbage could be the star of the show?!). Dessert was full size and the flavours were incredible. Only course we were a little unsure on was the breaded lemon sole - just felt a little out of place when accompanying all of the other delicate fish courses but this may have just been us. The cocktail at £17 may have been a little expensive, also, but ultimately up to personal discretion on whether you order or not! We especially appreciated the nod to locality and sustainability within the menu, and the donation to the RNLI (you can see the slipway of the beach from where we were sat!) on the bill was a nice touch. Would go again for a special occasion

The set menu is £88 and left us hungry. We had high hopes for the flavours but they didn't meet expectations - apart from dessert which was delicious. Most courses consisted of tiny amounts of raw fish (cured or pickled but still transparent with an unpleasant jelly-like texture ) with small amounts of wonderful sounding accompaniments which were actually quite bland; e.g. there was a mushroom sauce which didn't even taste of mushrooms. The meal wasn't balanced; the only carb was a few bits of brioche with blackened stripes from the griddle as the starter with cod roe (this was shared between 2): and the only real portions of veg in the whole meal were a thin wedge of undercooked drumhead cabbage with Cornish cheese crumbs (which only tasted of charcoal) and there were some thin slices of raw cauliflower with one dish (a very small portion for 2). Another dish was fish tails - bits of bone with the most miniscule amounts of fish on- I found them unpleasant and left them. The drinks were extortionately priced - £55 for a bottle of the recommended wine; £5.50 for one third of a pint of beer, and £17 for a small cocktail. The waiting on staff were professional and pleasant; and the service was excellent (you are limited to 2 hours at your table, but faultless prompt service enabled the meal to be completed in this time). The produce seemed high quality and fresh, and was beautifully presented, but even so it was mostly inedible to us. The restaurant was atmospheric but very cramped, and as everyone is seated at a set time (ours was 6 o'clock) this caused congestion in the door way at the start. The tiny toilet had no hand washing facilities and opened straight into the restaurant -close to a table; very unhygienic. Obviously from other reviews a lot of people like this kind of food but we didn't. Sorry... but we wouldn't recommend it. A £450 bill for 4 and to go home hungry is not great!

How can just a small fillet of mackerel being so wonderful and unforgettable, raw bass in ginger amazing as was every dish and actually great value at £88 for seven courses. Just a warning , no parking nearby, allow plenty of time to walk from car park....but worth a mile walk to eat hear

Fantastic night, food excellent. We had the pleasure of visiting two nights in one week ( different guests). The superb staff went out of their way to give us a different experience on our second visit. I cannot fault this restaurant, the flavours are exquisite. Many thanks to you all

We visited this restaurant yesterday. It is situated opposite the small harbour in Port Isaac and is a very small restaurant having only a maximum of 7 tables. They serve a tasting menu of 7 courses and it costs £88.00 per person with drinks extra and tips are at the customer’s discretion. Because of the size of the restaurant they only have 2 servers (Alex and Becky) who are superb. I’ve had tasting menus before but was surprised by the size of portions here being larger than normal. The food was just wonderful, my particular favourites were the Lobster rice balls, smoked mackerel, cured bass tostada and finally a wonderful raspberry set cream! It was all superb. My wife had an Autumn Cup cocktail (terrific) and I had a glass of cider to start and we then shared a marvellous bottle of Sancerre (£80.00) giving us a total bill of £320.00 including tip. It was well worth every penny and we both highly recommend this restaurant!

Supberb food. Lovely young and very knowledgeable staff. Very quirky building. Small, only about 20 covers. The 2 hour time allotted was enough as the staff are well versed in making you feel relaxed but are obviously used to getting the food out in a relaxed and timely manner.

Heard much about this restaurant and we were not disappointed. A fabulous location and a quirky building (one of the oldest in the village, I think). Great fishy menu - not a course we didn't like and the recommended wine was spot on! Very friendly staff all made for a memorable evening.

Have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. A set 7 course dinner for £88 per person. Food: Smoked mackerel with cucumber and sourdough toast. Not too smokie and smooth consistency. Cured bass tostada, squash ketchup, chilli and lime. Minute pieces of bass, a very cheap way of using fish. Using this method one fish could have made many dishes. Lobster balls, one ball each and both were packed out with rice. Was there any lobster present? Spiced Monkfish on the bone. Deep-fried with plenty of flesh. Delicious. Mackerel filet with mushroom and rosemary. The fish skin was black and burnt. Not good. John Dory, courgette, coriander and pine nut. The best dish with well-cooked fish filet. Raspberry set cream and almond. Didn't really taste of raspberry although fruit was in the dish. The restaurant has 22 covers all jammed into a former fisherman's house. A very shouty party of five made for a very noisy dinner. As the review title says, a very mixed bag and not worth repeating.

My goodness! what a fabulous meal we had? We've eaten here many times over the past 7 years or so and somehow it seems to get even better and better. They offer an £88 7-course set menu of "small" plates - though some are not that small! (we left totally full to the rafters). From the very first dish, (smoked mackaral/sourdough), your tastebuds are excited. It is hard select a favourite from the multiple dishes; though the spiced monkfish and john dory (oh! and the lobster balls! and,..) are worthy of special mention. I'm not a big dessert person; but the Raspberry set cream was a sesnsational way to finish a truly splendid meal, really top-drawer cooking. The two waitresses are incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable and really look after you well, and reacted speedily to our request to turn down the slightly invasive (and unnecessary?) music. With a slightly pricey wine-list; this is not a cheap meal by any means; but with such exquisite quality of food and service like this; it is worth every penny. Superb.

Stunning food. Every single dish was absolute perfection. Incredibly fresh fish. The tasting menu is great as it meant I could try several different fish. (I'm unable to eat lobster and so had a lovely piece of red mullet instead.) I couldn't pick a favourite dish. They were all equally delicious, for different reasons. The Greek wine complemented the fish perfectly. The Cornish limoncello was equally lovely. You have to go.

In one of the incredibly small houses in Port Isaac you can have the menu served (you eat what is put on the table). Everything is freshly caught by the local fishermen, so you have to be able to accept the fact that instead of the turbot there was mackerel, which had already taken part in the Amuse Geule. The star has to be paid, the recommended Greek wine, which went perfectly with the menu, is sold for a multiple of the retail price. In return you receive a selection of carefully prepared fish. Highly recommended.

Surprised to see so many 5 star review, this might pass for fine dining in Cornwall but compared to fine dining restaurants in the rest of the country it does not measure up. We left feeling hungry, small plates are served for diners to share, it felt like two of us were sharing one persons meal. £80+ per person plus ridiculous wine prices is simply not value for money. The restaurant itself is very small and felt cramped, maybe to create the illusion of space the front door was left open for the start of our meal but that just made the restaurant cold and windy plus you had to shout over the noise of the brass band playing outside. Staff were efficient but not particularly friendly. I would not recommend eating here, you can get better food for considerably less money in Port Isaac.

We had very good fish dishes including a huge variety of raw fish starters and mains. The cooking style was mixing local products with fusion inspirations resulting in a breathtaking experience. Only thing that I personally disliked was the coffee, absolutely overpriced and made with an arabica blend that I found very bitter (I am an Espresso drinker). Also given the tiny space, booking is mandatory and the service is a bit expensive considering the overall confort. Most definitely an experience that I'd repeat!

My partner became allergy to shellfish and cannot have raw fish recently after making the reservation. The crew was really helpful to customize menu for her after we sent an email to them. The foods were amazing and we really enjoyed all those fishes. We will definitely come again and recommend to everyone according to our experience. One funny thing was, I didn’t realize that service charge was not included in the bill and I didn’t pay tips when checking the bill. We walked uphill to our car and then walked back down to pay the tips back.

We enjoyed a Sunday roast here. The meat was tender and there is a good array of vegetables. The gravy was a bit thin and the cauliflower cheese was a bit dry but overall it was good. What we particularly liked was that we were able to stay for nearly three hours at a very comfortable table where we felt very able to relax. The valentines pudding and cocktails added to a good meal. We don't usually stay this long but it's a big venue and it was only in the late afternoon that it started to get very busy. Service was friendly and efficient. One funny thing was the table water which tasted and smelt very strongly of chlorine. I don't recall coming across this anywhere else. My partner is a lot more fussy about water than I am and asks if you could filter it. It would be nice to put lemon in it too. Prices are pretty much average. I would definitely recommend the place. It's very family friendly

Provided a sizeable deposit to them in August to secure Christmas Day lunch for family. Found out by chance in Oct they had gone into administration. They ignored all phone calls and emails to try and establish what was going on. Told they won’t be offered a service, not would they refund and told me to contact administrators who have advised that I am an unsecured creditor and are unlikely to get money back. Feel robbed as one would do. Shame on you Una Kitchen. If you had of said we could have a voucher to the value I paid to use against something else that would be different. It’s no way to run a business or retain customers.

Called in for a pasty with my wife on Saturday afternoon whilst on holiday here in a neighbouring village, Bolingey. Unfortunately, they had sold out of all pasties but........ fortunately as a second choice. I had the best chickenTikka baguette I have ever had, anywhere! Plenty of deliciously spiced chicken tikka meat with mint mayo, with loads of fresh lettuce, red onion, tomato and lettuce which was also delicious served in a fresh baguette. I had a fantastic Americano too and together it was a truly excellent lunch. To be honest I enjoyed my lunch so much I can't even remember what my wife had for hers! Must've been good though as there were no scraps left for me! Called in again on Sunday for a quick bite but it was very busy and I had to give in to my hunger and walk to a neighbouring cafe! I will definitely call back in before we leave for home later this week. Had a great chat with (Dave?) the proprietor whilst we had lunch there on Saturday and he is a very personable guy.

Where to begin? Stunning location, lovely people, amazing atmosphere… and the food! We had such a great meal here and they showed us round their rooms too and they were really something! We will return after out motorhome experience. This place could easily be Michelin listed or even starred should they apply. If you’re in Newquay you have to go.
