The cafe/restaurant has a lovely menu, very nice staff and nice decor/chairs/environment. We ordered a coronation chicken sandwich and two drinks - lemon presse and fresh orange juice. The sandwich was actually a roll and the contents contained very little chicken. The menu does mention chutney and mayonnaise but chicken breast is the first ingredient mentioned. The filling was more like a pickle with tiny dots of chicken. And it was quite definitely not a sandwich.The lemon presse was a lemon juice with water on the side which would have been ok but it was £3.50 from memory. My orange juice was lovely. So very mixed and quite expensive for what it was - there's a difference between an £8 or £9 sandwich and roll. I accept cafes need to make a profit, but customers also need reasonable value for money and to be presented with something resembling what they ordered.

I had afternoon tea here with two friends. The welcome was very friendly and we were seated straightaway. It was a hot day and iced water was offered and served to us very quickly. There were several choices for the sandwich part of the afternoon tea, all of which sounded delicious. We were also served scones and selection of cakes and pastries. The servers were efficient, pleasant and helpful.

Superb, proper french patisserie. I should know, I lived in Paris! Scones that were fresh as a daisy and tasty sandwiches with the crusts cut off. Excellent range of teas. Such a lovely place - the ambience, the setting.

Excellent tea room. Had light lunch, and coffee and cake but the other option looked great. Very friendly. Delicious cakes.

We had an excellent Afternoon Tea, special treat for wife's birthday. She especially liked the warmed scones!

Simply outrageous that the three consecutive one star reviews are allowed to harm the ratings of this excellent tearooms. Take it from me, as a fellow caterer who has been trading in this town since 1979 I personally find The Regency professional and delightful and rate it highly. How dare a group descent upon the place and expect instant service alongside a minimum spend. As the owner quite rightly points out just as I would, we are in business, here to make money and are not a charity. Some people seem to forget that. and then having deprived the tearooms of a proper shifts takings they then add insult to injury by venting there unwarranted frustrations on TripAdvisor. They should hang their heads in shame. Simply outrageous

We popped in here for a light lunch and found everything to be very good. Nice ambiance , pleasant owner and the food was very nicely presented. My was egg sandwich on brown with a little salad and was obviously frehle home-made.

We had a wonderful lunch today at Regency Tea Rooms. The sandwiches were excellent, there was a great selection of fine leaf teas and yummy scones and cream. The service was friendly and welcoming. The tea rooms are attractive with comfy seats and proper table cloths. The waitress brought a glass of water, unprompted, for my wife to take her tablets. I cannot understand the previous three grumpy reviews which appear to be the same visit. It is obviously a free country but spiteful and incorrect reviews should be removed from this website. All I can say is that The Regency Tea Rooms are lovely and we will be definitely going back to try dishes things off the menu.

Went to the regency for a drink and cake, we thought the person taking our order was rude and a bit abrupt, the tea room wasn't busy and we didn't get our order till 30mins after ,just as we were getting up to go our order turned up!!!!! If they want a tea room to run properly then maybe get not so rude and abrupt staff . We definitely wont be going back there again not impressed!!!!

A colleague booked for a group of us to go to the tea rooms for another colleague's leaving lunch. We all left absolutely shocked following our experience there today. We were made to feel unwelcome, after a long wait to order, wrong to order hot food from the menu, wrong if we wanted a pot of tea only and told by the lady who served us had she known what we were going to order she wouldn't have reserved the table for us!! From some of the other comments made by the lady, which were nothing short of rude, it appears there may have been cross wires as to what we may order (even though a straight forward booking was made) but that is no way to behave towards customers who are visiting and spending money at the tea rooms. It was, I'm very sorry to say, an extremely unfortunate and unpleasant experience.

Being a large group of 18 we took up the whole of the ground floor. After waiting 25 minutes some plates were brought out and we were given menus. A couple of our party ordered toasties but were told by the lady in charge that she was not prepared for hot food orders and there would be a wait. I ordered a toasted tea cake, even though I wanted a toasted sandwich originally but didn't want to inconvenience a business that sells food?! Others only ordered a drink but were told 'if I knew you were only ordering drinks I wouldn't have let you book this space'! We felt unwanted and that our money was not good enough. We would have walked out but didnt want to ruin it for others in the group. Our food started to arrive and by this point the other half of our group had not even had their orders taken. I hate to leave a bad review but I've never felt so unwelcome. You'd think they would be grateful of the business...

My husband,daughter & I booked for afternoon tea this afternoon & we were made very welcome. The sandwiches had four different fillings & were very fresh.The scones were delicious with clotted cream & we had a choice of strawberry or raspberry jam.The cakes were perfect.Small & delicate ,as they should be.It really was the perfect afternoon tea. Thank you Regency Tea Rooms for my lovely birthday treat.

Pretty little tearooms in Regent street with outside seating for the warmer months. The menu is simple offering light lunches and afternoon teas. I had the classic Sandwich selection and a hot chocolate. Everything was perfect

Une excellente adresse pour découvrir le thé à l'anglaise ! J'ai pris un thé à la rose exquis. La propriétaire, qui est française, nous a accueillis très chaleureusement. Nous avons dégusté l'Imperial Afternoon Tea comprenant de très bons sandwiches au pain de mie (concombre et fromage frais, coronation chicken, jambon beurre moutarde, saumon fumé et fromage frais) ainsi que deux scones par personne (avec ou sans raisins secs) tout frais et bien moelleux à l'intérieur, accompagnés bien sûr de la traditionnelle clotted cream et de très bonnes confitures. Un ensemble de pâtisseries d'inspiration française (millefeuilles, éclairs, rochers etc.) complètent l'ensemble. A ne pas manquer si vous êtes de passage sur Cheltenham !

We had a late lunch here which involved, scones, cake and tea as well as sandwiches. Everything was very freshly made and of excellent quality, I would highly recommend this place.
