although the food was nice, it was not value for money, it cost over £200 for my wife and two teenager children to eat there, we knew it was going to be pricey but value for money i have to say no it wasn't worth it, service was slow, nice staff, they were polite, food was hot, so cant complain at that, just quantity/size of the meals were not filling and quite bland to taste

We were not heading here but the place we were going to was full. We noticed on arrival that the car park was very busy and we went in expecting to be turned away. Instead we were offered a table at the bar. I have to say the food was excellent. If you're offered a table at the bar don't be put off, it's just as good as the main restaurant.

I booked a table in advance for a late lunch and I'm glad that I had because it was quite busy and they clearly cater for a wide age range of folks. The venue is easy to find and there's plenty of parking; the atmosphere was cheery and very pleasant. The menu is very varied and there's ample choice for even the fussiest of customers - for those who find choosing from a big menu overwhelming The Red House has an online menu so you can look beforehand and get an idea of what's on offer. We've been a few times now which younger family members and the food has been invariably good, well cooked & presented, hot & tasty. The team of young staff members was friendly, polite, on-the-ball, and did a great job, so i didn't mind paying the service charge, which was added to the bill. Finally, the ladies' toilets were clean!

When he returned we tried to order fillet steak only to be told that they hadn't any ( 5.30 0n a Saturday evening , is this really a restaurant ? ) Ended up with cod & chips & mixed grill both ok but well overpriced. 45 minute wait & eating with your coat on is not good. We visited just before Christmas and had the special Christmas meal (both had turkey). The meat was beautifully cooked, not at all dry, and there was plenty of it, served in nice thick slices. Vegetable were brought to the table in separate bowls and were, for me, cooked to perfection. One of my big complaints at many restaurants is that the chef insists that vegetable should be eaten almost raw. Not so! If I want my veg to be under-cooked I'll order a salad, with a cooked meal carrots and brussels sprouts etc should not be boiled to oblivion, but should be soft but firm. This is exactly how they were served at the Redhouse. Well done!

Went for lunch yesterday, and when ordering at the bar, we asked what the soup of the day was - we were told it was "the green one", the man (we later found out was Andy) asked 2 female colleagues if the soup was the green one, they agreed it was and after some discussion one of the females said it was pea and mint, then Andy said it was leek and potato. I asked if he was sure, he said "not really, but do you want to order it anyway?" when I said no, it depended what it was, he sighed said "I better go and find out then!" He came back confirming it was carrot!! Too be honest I was tempted to say if it's too much trouble don't bother and we will eat elsewhere. Whether talk of green soup was his idea of a joke it was wasted because he came across very unprofessional, that he hadn't got a clue what was going on and as if it was too much trouble. Who on earth is going to order and pay for something when they don't even know what they are going to get?? I was also disappointed with the service which was very slow, bringing out the starters. First time here and impressed by the modern interior & pleasant outdoor area. My man course of pan-fried chicken with rosemary potatoes & provencal sauce was a let down. It was excellently presented but a small bland portion, chicken was a bit chewy with no flavour & the lukewarm sauce wasn't tasty. Tiny portion of cubed potatoes - only about a tablespoon full. It didn't fill me up so for dessert I had baileys cheesecake which was amazing. The others with me had different mains which they said were ok but nothing special.Staff not around much, twice we had to go to the bar to order drinks & dessert as couldn't catch a server. Staff were polite but seemed like they were stressed & not really interested. Not sure what the venue is...a bar a restaurant or a live music venue? Fab decor though!. Ive heard the carvery is good so I might try it. I would go back for the cheesecake and a coffee. The lovely exterior looks like it will be great for summer evenings.

Myself and my wife arrived at the side door leading in from the car park to the restaurant and as instructed by the sign "wait[ed] to be seated". That wait went on and on for far too long - during which time 3 staff members, dressed all in black, saw us, avoided eye contact and ignored us. Another potential customer joined the queue behind us and was also soon wondering why we were all being left unattended. Finally we were seated and the very young waiter asked for our drinks order. He managed the lime and soda OK but struggled with the wine request. Feeling frustrated I suggested that I had a pint of Abbott ale instead. What arrived was a very cold bottle of Abbott ale - 500ml (not a pint) of something that I didn't order. The lad couldn't understand what the issue was...I had seen enough to know that pressing on to place a food order was only going to add fuel to the fire which was screaming that these people had a full scale customer disconnect - confirmed when the Manager arrived to ask why I was refusing to accept my drink. We walked out and went up the road the The Queen's at Horton where they welcomed us with open arms and fed/watered us with high quality fare and warm, confident service.

The Red House, as many other reviewers have pointed out has recently been refurbished. It is an attractive place, both inside and out. As an aside, that's the fourth restaurant in a row that we have visited that have adopted a grey colour scheme. It doesn't do anything for me, a bit cold, but I'm no fashionista. The staff on arrival were very friendly and took us straight to a table and took our drinks order, no drinks menu, but I know what I want!!!I ordered the carvery, which at £6.95 mid-week is excellent value. I chose pork but also had a helping of lambs liver. Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and roasted potatoes were also piled on by me, with some of my 5 a day. I only went for carrots, but I could have had new potatoes , sweetcorn and peas, but nothing overly green looking that my mother always told me to eat. The pork was a bit fatty, but it's pork! Lisa chose grilled chicken breast and chunky chips off the menu. It arrived with a small pot of peas, which were fresh and tasty, but the garnish of salad leaves had seen better days. The chicken was tasty but very slightly overcooked, the chips however were perfect.Overall it was ok, a bit school dinnerish, but I liked school dinners. What I'm saying is, it is not a fine dining experience. But they are not charging fine dining prices, it is very good value if you're looking for generous portions. For a Tuesday lunchtime at the beginning of November, I was surprised at how busy the place was. I think the offer of a free pudding with the carvery for pensioners was quite an attraction.

Most impressed with the quality and quantity of the food . Beautifully cooked tender roasts - choice of four - and plenty of choice of vegetables and sauces . All piping hot and freshly cooked . Will definitely be going again .

After a busy day shopping in telford and on the way home we drove past the redhouse and decided to pop in. It had recently been refurbished and it was very modern and stylish inside and clean. We were shown to a table and our drinks order was taken and with it being a Sunday all they offer is a carvery which wasn't a problem. We went to get a carvery and to be honest were it is positioned isn't that great not really anyway to queue and when you are waiting to get your food you are waiting right next to people's tables where they are eating. That meal was nice but not a good range of vegetables. Will be going back to the redhouse in the week to try the menu

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE ALONG WITH AWFUL RAISIN AND APPLE CRUMBLE Poor service, before I arrived and whilst there. Phoned to ask re price of Carvery, the waitress was hesitant and took some time to tell me (its on menu everyday). On arriving by myself and waiting to be seen to a seat, two waitress walked straight past me and didn't acknowledge me. Until Jan came along and enquired if I was being seen to (obvious I wasn't) why would I be standing in the middle of the floor and not sitting down. Shown to seat, but before I even had sat down, asked if I would like a drink. I wasn't presented with a drinks menu for choices nor was anyone else in the restaurant. The carvery was good.I ordered Raisin and Apple Crumble. When it arrived it had not a single raisin and the apples were tasteless and a funny texture (tinned eating apples?).Not once was I asked if my meal was okay. When it was time for paying, I was asked if wanted to pay yet or order anything else. So I complained that the pudding was awful. Jan said she would tell the Chef and apologised. On payment much to my surprise I was still charged for the pudding.A remote paying handset used at table. It is normal practise to automatically receive a receipt on payment, but I was asked if I wanted one? I advised yes I did, but I had wait for her to go to till to get one.The restaurant was not that busy with three waitresses, I have been in far busier restaurants in London with excellent professional customer service and can cope with the demands.I will not be returning and advise others of my visit.

The wife and I decided to go for lunch at The Redhouse Inn, I am glad we did, we had the pensioners special carvery with a sweet. The service was excellent Jan our server was top notch, we were seated at an intimate table for two, our drinks were waiting us on our table when we got back from selecting our meal at the hot plate, the food was cooked to perfection except for the roast potatoes that were hard to cut the skins. The service, food and ambiance was special. The Christmas menu and price list was available for bookings, we will be taking the strain out of Christmas this year at the Redhouse Inn. A very enjoyable experience thank you.

Popped in after a long bike ride and was delighted that a carvery was on offer . The meat portions were very generous with all the trimmings . Went back this week with family for the carvery and the choice of vegetables had changed. Enjoyed it as much as the first time . The prices are very reasonable and the waitress (Julie) was very polite and attentive on both occasions. Children were made welcome . Would definitely go back.

Came here on Thursday night with family. Beautiful refurb which was much needed. That's as good as it got...Originally made a booking for 7pm for 5 people which changed to 4 people at 7:30, I called earlier in the day to change the booking to find they didn't have any recollection of it in the first place. The girl I spoke to then hung up on me. I rang back and eventually spoke to someone who adjusted it. Turned up at 7:30- as per change- to find it was still written down for 5 people at 7pm?? We were seated at a table for 8. We found the menu to be very lacking. Specials were advertised on the menu but not written anywhere. We had to ask a member of staff when we eventually found one. 'Specials' are usually where you make your money as you can sell them at a higher price so either you need to advertise them better or train your staff to inform customers when menus are given. We chose starters and Mains. I had the fishcake to start. It just tasted of mash and tartar sauce, nothing else. The rest of our party enjoyed their starters. On to mains...My partner had a ribeye (rare) and mum had sirloin (medium) . I had lamb shank. The steaks were well done when they were brought out. We spent ages trying to get someone's attention and when we finally did, rather than take them back to get fresh ones he went and got someone else to deal with it who was busy. Another 10 minutes went by before the steaks were taken back. By this time my dad had finished his Pork dish- which he did quite enjoy!! To be fair fresh steaks were brought out within minutes however the chips, onion rings etc were the same from earlier so we're now cold and soggy!! No table check. My lamb shank was quite enjoyable until I found shards of bone throughout. Obviously you get a bone in it but I kept finding sharp pieces of bone in each mouthful. Worrying!! We weren't cleared for a good 30minutes after finishing and we're not offered a dessert menu or anything else. (again, you would think they would want to upsell) Overall service was awful from start to finish - staff using phones and eating behind the bar. Our waiter- who I think was in charge- was lovely but ruined it for me when he eventually came over to clear us and had his mouth full!! I was really hoping to enjoy this place as it has the potential to be amazing but the staff don't care!! Poor manners. The management really do need to take a look at previous reviews and fix the main problem.. Service!!!

Our party of four arrived at 7.30pm for a pre-booked meal (the second at this establishment - the first was excellent, though the service tardy). Drinks were ordered, but the wrong ones delivered. Food then ordered, but after an hour had not arrived, and we thought we may have been forgotten. We found an affable chap with the name-badge Peter, who explained (with no apology) that they had been dealing with a party of 19, but that our food was 'being plated'. We assumed that meant it had been cooked and was being put onto plates. Half an hour later (i.e. an hour and a half after ordering) our food arrived. Having expressed surprise to Peter at the long delay he then apologised, and again mentioned the party of 19. We suggested it might have helped if we had been told at the outset that there could be some delay. The food was excellent, and we had a wager to guess what discount would be applied to the bill for the worst service we had ever experienced anywhere ever. But we all lost out, because no adjustment was made to the bill. Furthermore, the 'How did we do?' card on the table claimed, ludicrously, that by law they were required to obtain the date of birth of the person filling in the card. This place is roomy, with pleasant decor, charming staff, excellent food, and a large car park. It's just that they've no idea how to treat their paying customers. On the two occasions we have eaten here a chap in a chef's outfit has been delivering food to tables, which perhaps explains the relaxed attitude to service. Anyone planning a meal here would be well advised to take a sleeping bag, a good book and some sandwiches ...

It really needed a refurb....and they've done a great job. Looks fantastic inside and out.Rarely have a bad carvery anywhere to be honest, you get what you pay for after all, the Red House carvery was great value for money and very tasty. Lots of 'service whingers' on here, but our service was prompt and polite. Not the best choice of drinks, but something, all be it limited, for everyone.A few flies around inside, but it was a warm day, if they're still there in November then there got a problem. Easy to book, easy to find, easy to park, great service, great Sunday dinner...will be back.

Saturday night, table pre booked. Seated promptly but then such a delay to get our drinks, take our order, wait for food (it was quiet at this time) then for table to be cleared and bill to be paid. Disappointing in terms of service, wrong drinks served. Menu average and uninspiring to be honest. Decent kids portions so at least they were happy. Refurb is lovely, really opened up the place and made it most inviting. Wouldn't return until see constant stream of positive reviews. A shame really

Hadnt been here since the re furb. visited today 16/9/16 at lunch time. not too busy was greeted by a nice lady who showed us to a table and took our drinks order. about 20 mins later I called another waitress over and asked her what we needed to do to order our food. We were given a ticket to go up to the carvery. Food was very nice I must say. We then decided we would like a sweet and waited for a waitress to come overto clear the plates and perhaps take our sweet order but they just walked past us and didn't even clear the plates away. There were other customers who came in after us who were getting their sweets ordered and delivered to them so I thought ill go to the bar and order. I did this thinking we would get our sweets. 25 mins later still no sweets. So went to the bar again to ask where they were. Finally we were able to have our sweets which came up cold to be honest :-( . Its a shame that the service wasn't as good as expected as the food was good and value for money.

This pub has had mixed reviews since its refurb but last night we thought we would give it a try. Refurb is a good improvement. Not sure about the dark grey exterior though but inside is good. The menu was small but Seemed to cater for most. We choose warm bread, olives and dipping oil to share for starters. It was plentiful and the mix of olives very nice. We both then had breakfast burgers. As a no cheese eater it was great to order something and not have to say 'no cheese'. The burger was a huge stack on a fresh bun: lettuce, tomato, beef burger, bacon, two flat mushrooms and a beautifully fried egg. Absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, the burger was meaty and not greasy. Served with chips and peas. Good value. Very pleasant staff at the bar and table service. Starters, main, large red wine and a pint all for approx £30 for the two of us. We will return.

We went for their Sunday Calvary. Plenty of choice but for us the food lacked taste and seasoning. Gravy had an unpleasant offal type after taste which spoilt the meal for me and the desserts were pretty boring. I personally would not return but that is my choice.

Eight of us went for a family meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. Food was cooked to 'perfection', hot and nicely presented, we had a variety of meals between us, sea bass, steaks, chicken and burger no negatives at all and would recommend all of these dishes. After reading the mixed reviews all we can say is try it for yourself, we are so pleased we did. Oh not forgetting the staff who were very attentive especially Suzy. We will definitely be going again, perhaps next time we will try the carvery.

We came here for a family meal. We had prebooked the table, but when we arrived the table was not set up so the cutlery was dumped in the middle of the table for us to do. The pub was dead!! So they clearly weren't too busy to set the table up! And were we only a table of 6, not a huge party! We sat and waited for 20 minutes and still no one even came to ask if we wanted drinks, I found the waitress talking at the bar. She took our drinks orders and said she would bring them over, 15mins later she arrived with our drinks. This is when we also complained about the amount of flies around our table. She said she would be back with some spray! we thought she would also be back to take our food order....but no yet again I had to go looking for her! The pub was still dead, so she wasn't run of her feet!!! She took our order and said she couldn't find any fly spray but sure they would fly off soon! Food arrived and was very lovely...I was put of few of the meat options as they all seemed to have cooked fruit with them and I'm not a fan of fruit and meat, but that's just me. Some of the order was missing so we had to keep asking for bits, but once it was all out the food was very tasty!! A different waitress came to clear the table so we asked for the desert menu, which she replied "oh right humm I suppose!" The menus were brought over...but no children menus were given out, so I helped myself.. didn't fancy her huffing at me again! When we had finished looking she said..."so do you want a pudding or not?" I was So tempted to say something about her attitude, but because we were out for a birthday meal I bit my lip! I shared the "apple crumble" with my son. It should of been called raisin crumble! I think we found two slices of apple and the rest was raisins wouldn't recommend at all!! After the puddings we sat and sat...no one came to see if we wanted coffees or another drink or the bill! Again I found the staff all laughing and chatting at the bar... we were still the only people in the place! So over all lovely food but CRAP SERVICE. ..so much so I don't think I'd go again. ..and that's a shame as we are in walking distance! We have had much better service at the Clock tower down the road!

My wife and I used to visit this pub for lunch every Friday as they served a delicious carvery for just £4.95. The pub closed for about a year and has recently re-opened under new management so we decided to give it a go.Sadly, we were disappointed. The pub we usually visit on a Friday refuse to turn their (dreadful) music down and we visit pubs to eat and/or drink, not to have someone else's choice of music inflicted on us so this is why we decided on the Redhouse today. The first thing we noticed was (again!) the over loud music so we asked if it could be turned down - no problem. Next the beers. Completely unimaginative, typical Greene King offering of the usual boring GK IPA, Speckled Hen & Golden Hen. Luckily, there was one other - Gold Ale from the Brentwood Brewing Company which, although not particularly exciting, was in good condition. Beers are a bit pricey here so I just had a half rather than my usual pint. Now for the food. I'm sorry to have to say that we probably won't be going back. Firstly, the carvery is £2 more than it used to be before the pub closed (and £3 more than we have been paying at the Swan in Wellington). There is not much of a choice of vegetables, just cabbage, broccoli, carrots, new potatoes, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese. The carrots were slightly under cooked and they appeared to have used the cheapest possible cheese for the cauliflower cheese. In fact we couldn't detect any cheese flavour whatsoever. The Yorkshire puddings were very nice but we almost needed a hammer and chisel to break open the stuffing balls. As far as the meat was concerned; the beef was delicious, lots of flavour and very tender. The gammon was very tasty but the turkey really didn't have any flavour at all.My wife and I being over sixty, we had the meal and a dessert for £6.95 which. I suppose, was reasonable value. However, anyone under sixty would have paid £6.95 just for the main course - not good value at all.

I visited the newly refurbished Redhouse today with some family members and we chose to all have the carvery. The food was excellent and as an owner that's half the battle. What made the experience so enjoyable was the excellent staff who were warm and friendly and natural with it. The young lady Leona who attended our table could not have done more to help all of us but especially my 86 year old mother in law. This service was replicated by Andy, a young man serving at the carvery. We all commented on how much we enjoyed the experience and will be visiting again soon.

Our first visit since the refurbishment. We hadn't visited until now after reading some poor reviews. Our experience however was very positive. Love the decor, the place has been completely transformed. We visited around 2.30pm; the Carvery had finished at 2pm and we were the only ones dining. The menu available was a limited light lunch one. We enjoyed hot beef rolls served with tasty gravy and lovely crisp roast potatoes. Will definitely return again soon.
