The staff were very inviting we had booked & table had been prepared for us, very knowledgeable staff on the food & drinks

We had an afternoon tea for 2. It was amazing plenty of food to tuck into and it tasted great! All homemade and what we couldn’t finish they boxed and we took home for later. Will definitely be returning. We have been for many afternoon tea’s even at the Ritz Hotel and this one surpassed all others for quality.

Another fabulous Sunday Lunch. Delicious food, great staff and service. We don't go anywhere else now. Looking forward to our next visit.

Excellent service from the start. Was immediate served and sat down with my order taken within minutes. 10 mins for starter, 9 mins for main then 2m5 mins for dessert, great service run by a clearly competent team and manager. The only thing I would but did not hinder the experience is the ability to be able to do card gratuity/tips for the staff. This wasn't an option unfortunately and not everyone has cash.

Had a lovely meal last night, the service and food was excellent. Also, a great atmosphere in the courtyard after for some drinks. I highly recommend

Had a bottomless brunch today it was fab, food was delicious and fresh, very ample portions (yes more than one) drinks were served regularly, staff were attentive, really polite and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend this. You won't be disappointed. Thank you to your team.

Great food, particular favourite was the whipped mushroom parfait I started with - so light and flavourful. Good service from friendly staff and a really lovely atmosphere. A mixture of all ages, from babies to oldies, all having a fab night out.

Something for everyone - party of 6 we all enjoyed dinner. Staff super friendly and fun themed decor. Really tasty starters including: Salt Fish Fritters (really tasty) Pulled Jerk Chicken Stuffed Dumplings & Hot Pepper Shrimp (delicious), Mains included Curried Goat, Red Snapper Escovitch (bursting with flavours) & Jerk Chicken. Served with amazing sides including Rice and Peas, Mango Slaw,Fried Dumplings, Jerk Gravy & Sticky Sweet Plantains. We were all too full for dessert! Can’t wait for the next themed evening !!! Fantastic service tonight. All the staff were brilliant even though they had a party of 30 in they dealt with our order promptly and we even got some free pork pies at the end. Food was amazing! Will definitely go back again and will recommend to others. Thanks guys!

Fabulous welcome from Simon ans Louise today popped in at lunchtime to sample the new summer menu. Had a delicious Caesar Salad with chicken, followed by Lemon tart and raspberry chantilly absolutely divine. Can't recommend the place highly enough. Don't walk run. Total satisfaction quality at affordable prices.

Friendly, great selection of real ales and ciders. Well priced. Lovely outside garden area. Ask for a Fidget pork pie if peckish, delicious. The evening menu was a bit sameold sameold but the burger menu was fabulous. Burgers were delicious. The loaded fries were drowned in scrumptious toppings. Try the corn ribs, they are unusual but very tasty.

My first time at this location, I was there to meet a group of people who regularly meet there from Telford Auto club. We were there to collect their donation to a charity. The interior has been tastefully renovated and is actually very nice. Couldn’t comment on the accommodation,but the bar and eating areas wee very nice

We enjoyed our evening at the cock hotel tonight, the food was amazing the hospitality was amazing. Everything about it was amazing, they decorated our table for valentines with petals, candles and flowers. it was a great evening and will definitely will be coming back. The staff are really attentive, friendly and welcoming. The roast is really good, I would have liked more gravy (I should have asked for extra) but that's personal preference. Every one in the party was really impressed. Definitely recommend trying.

Met with friends for Sunday Lunch but the experience was not pleasant. The table was booked for 2.40pm but weren't seated until 3pm.We asked for a progress report on our food at 3.40pm & were told that our order hadn't gone through to the kitchen due to a computer glitch. Our food arrived at 4pm. All yorkshire puddings were cremated & tasted very bitter as a result. Beef was dry & tough & some of the vegetables were lukewarm at best. However,the side order of cauliflower cheese was piping hot & very nice. Given the poor service the long wait & the poor food we decided to speak with Louise the manager. We were not impressed with her response. She didn't accept the yorkshire puddings were overcooked & apparently we have to mention when the veg is lukewarm to the waiting staff so that they can take our meals away to be microwaved even though we waited an hour for our food to arrive..She was not in the slightest bit apologetic for our experience only defensive saying that we were the only ones that complained. This was not the customer service we would expect from a Joules manager . We were not charged for the inedible beef dinner & had one of the 2 cauliflower cheese sides refunded. Previous meals have been fine but this was a shocker!!! If front of house managers can't accept constructive criticism from customers they should not be in that role..

Copy and pasted my Rate Beer review: 'I visited recently (Dec 2008) and it seemed a little run down since my last visit a year earlier. I believe it's in the middle of a takeover / revamp so only fair i review again later in the year. As a Belgian beer fan, i was disappointed to learn the Belgian beer area has been removed. Still, lots of great local ales and pork pies. EDIT: It's been taken over by Joules Brewery now. Looks fantastic since the refurb and extension. Decent selection of Joules beer on tap. Just feels a bit chain restauranty, doesn't quit have that character the old place had.'

The best Sunday lunch we have had for a good while. Generous servings of meat with all the trimmings including a great selection of freshly cooked veg. The belly pork was particularly delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was great to meet the chef. An all round great experience which we will happily recommend.

We are regular visitors to the Cock Hotel, and we are never disappointed. The staff are lovely and always take the time to chat to you, and nothing it too much trouble, Simon is always so friendly and makes you feel like a friend rather than a customer, our go to place most weeks

Well. The table was booked for 10 of us for 1230hrs . We arrived around 1200hrs . Placed our order and we were told that any orders for the Steak pie would have a 30 minute waiting time as they are all cooked fresh. So 3 of us changed our minds and ordered something else. We were then kept waiting 50 minutes so we could have had Pie's??? Food finally arrived. The Fish and chips were very greasy although they tasted OK. Then my medium £23 Rib-eye steak arrived 10 minutes after everyone else. Please see photos. It was burnt on one side even though it was served cold and soaked in grease & wafer thin. I sent it back and told them not to replace it. As I had waited an hour for sub standard food. The waitress returned it to the table and said it had been removed from the bill and was only going to be put in the bin so I could have it anyway. ( Best place for it ) Garlic bread was also over cooked and as hard as nails. In my opinion it is overpriced poor food. My Father's 90th Birthday Lunch ruined.The two. Young ladies that served us. Where very polite and helpful shame the food was not as well prepared as the staff..No sign of the Management.

Nice pub with a loverly spacious dining area , atmospheric bar and spectacular barn themed out side drinking area. With a good selection of beers, ciders, ales, wines and sprits topped of with quality food it makes for a good night or even lunch. Ample parking on site if your traveling in.

First time attending this restaurant after it had been freshly refurbished, meal was booked at 3 was sat down without any waiting. Drinks order was taken very quickly but must of miss heard what I wanted as I said pint but was only given half glass. Wasn’t given much gravy each time we asked for more between 4 of us adults ended up asking for it 4 times. After finishing food 1 of us ordered sticky toffee pudding for dessert to which took well over 25-30 minutes to come out but the staff came to our table twice asking us to pay the bill ? Was pretty rude & to add to it the staff were all sat down on this one table so we had to get up and ask what was happening with it so we can pay and leave. Overall very good and well presented restaurant but just a bit of disappointment in the service we received

Decided we'd visit after the refurbishment, and wow, we were taken back by the extensive work done. I ate here tonight with friends, the atmosphere was buzzing, live music starts at 9, really really busy, food is absolutely spot on and staff are really welcoming and friendly. We've eaten here before so I knew that a starter would be enough for me. Smoked haddock Scotch egg was lovely: a soft yolk with a smoked haddock covering. My hus band went back to his youth and really enjoyed faggots followed by treacle tart. Lots of other things on the menu that we want to try so we'll be back!

I dropped in here on a Friday evening at about 7:45 on the off-chance they had a table. I was in luck, as one was found, although I was warned that I probably wouldn't be served for about 20 mins. No real problem there. The place was quite buzzing. It has a pub front. A good sized restaurant area to the rear, all traditionally 'modern' decor. The menu looked good, packed with traditional British pub fayre but all with a slight twist. I ordered the haddock Scotch egg, followed by the calves liver. After a short wait the Scotch egg arrived. Warm, with a slightly runny yolk, done to a turn, with curry mayo on the side. Nice haddock flavour came through. Then the liver arrived. The waitress had asked if I'd want it pink. No brainer - if it's liver, why cook all the flavour out of it? Beautiful and pink it was too, accompanied by a tasty rich red onion jus. I'd opted for chips over the creamed potato, as mash was my least favourite form of spud. Lovely skin on hand cut chips arrived with it. In all, a wonderful meal! I shall return next time I come to Telford. Highly recommended!

We love the pub and it's our local and we often pop in for a pint or two. We thought we would treat ourselves to a meal on our day off so we popped in. It was a Tuesday night and not particularly busy when we arrived. The food was lovely but the service wasn't. We were first told there were no mushy peas as the chef wasn't happy to send them out, which was fine and I appreciated the honesty, then we were told there was no coleslaw for my partner's meal. My partner asked for mayo with his meal and was told they had run out!?! We could deal with that but what really irked us was the fact we waited an hour for our food. There was no apology or offer of a free drink etc. We enjoyed our food, but the service has put us off returning to eat again.
