Lovely pub. Good food good service

We have celebrated many occasion at the cock hotel but this was a special celebration as it was my son's 18th birthday. I took decorations down and the staff decorated the room amazingly, they accepted the cake delivery and brought it out on time. The food was perfectly cooked, a huge preorder and everything was correct. Staff are so friendly. I will be returning very soon!! Sunday lunch is also amazing!!

Dancing Bears Dirty Burgers - Me and my partner ordered two of the OG burgers with House fires and Bear fries. The house fires were never delivered so already off to a bad start and there is no numbers to contact them directly only the Cock hotel. Both burgers were incredibly thin for ‘smash patties’, the patties were very crispy almost burnt and not pleasant looking or tasting. They tasted very salty and almost un-edible if you have no sauce. The Bear fries were cold and crunchy and tasted like they had been sat in oil for some time. Definitely not a place I would order from again or recommend as the price you pay for the burgers you’d expect better presentation and taste!

Went for Sunday lunch today and have to say was the best pub lunch I've ever had. The belly pork is to die for. Every item on the huge plates were delicious. Can't fault and will definitely making a return. 😋😋

Had the burgers which were great and great service

Just dropped in for a drink, impressed with refurb but not impressed with service. Only 1 person in front of us at bar, barmaid appeared to be having a problem with till, 2 other members of staff came behind bar & went. Not 1 of the 3 acknowledged we were waiting!! A simple "sorry I will be with you in a moment" was all that was needed. We had gone in on recommendation of a friend and are extremely disappointed.

Lovely place since it's been refurbished. I've done a few craft fayres there myself and had a few meals. Awesome food , really nice staff and environment..

Visited for a last minute evening meal, as highly recommended. Food was delicious, fish & chips was fantastic. Burger options are great & vast choice but costly when you need to add cost of chips (=£17.50) min for burger & chips, BUT was well worth it, as food was so nice & yummy. Service was good, environment was super lovely, some nice dining booths available for 4+. Temperature inside was a little chilly. Love the fact the old original bar area still in place, great outside area too. From what this pub was, to now is an amazing refurbished pub offering great quality food, slightly over priced but worth it. Looked at Sunday lunch on the menu & may give it a try, although expensive. We eat a quality Sunday lunch out frequently usually in ironbridge for £2 cheaper for a roast dinner. Will definitely return. Thank you

Disappointing service for a special occasion. Booked afternoon tea (or thought I had) for Valentine’s Day, only to turn up and be told I hadn’t booked it properly and should have called to pay a deposit. There was no mention of this on the website or the afternoon tea menu (I have just rechecked the entire website and have attached photos of the menu which I was told on the day did have instructions for how to book - which it clearly didn’t). the website was unclear and poorly designed , but did clearly state they offered afternoon tea from Tuesday to Saturday, 12-2pm, and they offer online booking, so I booked a table on a date and at a time which afternoon tea was advertised as being served, and even included a note on my booking to point out that it was for afternoon tea. Given that I booked 3-4 days in advance, even if my booking was unknowingly placed through the wrong method , I would have expected that if a deposit was needed beforehand, that someone would have checked my booking and called me before I arrived and was disappointed. When I arrived I was told that because I didn’t call to book, and no deposit was paid, that I should order something else instead. I was offered a burger menu…enough said. This was very disappointing given that it was booked in advance and no requirement for booking by phone or paying a deposit was mentioned until the day. Unfortunately it isn’t the first time I’ve had bad service here either. Be wary. It’s a decent enough place for a beer but not for a special occasion or anything more important.

Just been for lunch with my friend and we had the 3 for £20 and it was lovely and more then well worth the money. You can choose two course or three courses on the menu. There were very good portions. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend The Cock Hotel.

We went as a family for Sunday lunch and I can't compliment it enough the service was excellent Making sure our group had everything we needed but the best was the quality of the food our whole family said the same we haven't had a Sunday roast like that anywhere else for such a long time it was amazing and so much food as well so much so we have booked for February for all the family to go we can not wait Thank you

Comments We reserved The Snug for a company get together following a trek up The Wrekin. We arrived slightly but it was no trouble and we were warmly welcomed by the landlady and really made to feel welcome. Only planning to have a few drinks we saw the freshly made cobs available for sale and couldn’t resist. They hit the mark 100%. Greta range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic the pub catered for all our needs. It was our first visit here and without doubt we will be planning visits again to align with work events but also all those who joined in today were really impressed and are planning their own personal visits in the future. Joules offer great pubs, but without doubt the staff make great become excellent and The Cock Hotel has got this spot on.

We attended a Burns Night celebration, the food was brilliant, lovely event. We had a great evening so we will certainly go again. Well worth a visit.

We went as a table of 40 for my mum's surprise 60th birthday party. I cannot fault The Cock Hotel from start to finish. It has been seamless from the initial email right down to paying the bill. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The best part was definitely the food - delicious, huge portions, coming out in a timely manner. Everyone was overjoyed with their meal. Thank you so much!

A little disappointing birthday celebration lunch for my best friend. A party of 10 chatty women could be a handful, but the serving staff came accross quite disinterested! Having booked some weeks ago we were looking forward to a lovely meal and pleasant celebration. We sat in a character separate dining room with a stunning fireplace; (shame the open fire wasn’t lit given it was -3 outside). We ordered various choices from the menu, but upon reflection, we weren’t asked if “anyone had any allergies”, and unfortunately one of us had to return her meal as she is Celiac. I ordered Steak pie which sounded delicious but was quite dry and the additional gravy, geletinous and very dark. We had to ask for condiments for the tables and at no point did any staff check on us all to ask if our meals were ok or if we should like anymore drinks. The plates were cleared, but nobody came back to ask if we wanted a dessert? When we eventually managed to catch a waitress and asked for a dessert menu, we were told “the kitchen was now closed”. Nobody came in for us to pay the bill, despite asking! Good job we are honest people and paid at the bar and not just walk out unnoticed. The young Barman, on the other hand was nothing but professional, polite and lovely; a great example to the serving team. Very much a shame given previous experiences and recommendations here have been good. 🙁

My wife and I visited the Cock hotel earlier this month (December), we hadn’t booked a table and due to the time of year, with festive bookings the restaurant was full. We spoke with Simon the owner and he advised that he would make us up a table and within a few minutes my wife and I were sat with Christmas crackers in hand, a glass of wine and perusing the menu. The menu has a good selection of starters mains and desserts with lots of optional extras, such as cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. The option of meats are beef, belly pork or turkey, with an option to have all 3 for a small charge. My wife and I both went for the belly pork after strong words of encouragement from our waiter. I’m glad we did, the belly pork was a good size, clearly butcher sourced with a crackling top and a moist, juicy slice of pork underneath. The meal was severed with greens, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, parsnips and a Yorkshire pudding and of course our optional extras. The food was faultless, hot and full of flavour. We had quite a bit leftover, which our waitress gladly boxed up into a doggy portion for our boy Frankie. The restaurant was well organised, considering that it was so busy, Louize the Manager was leading a team of competent and attentive hosts who all greeted Customers with a smile. If you are looking for a 10/10 roast dinner on a Sunday then I highly recommend the Cock hotel. I would advise booking as you may not be as lucky as we were!

What an absolute gem of a place went for dinner today with 12 of my family members could not do enough for us went over and above to ensure we were all happy and satisfied. Everyone meal came out on time and was absolutely perfect t. The meat is very high quality and I can vote this the best Sunday dinner I have ever had . Apart from my own of course haha . Just had my first, but not my last, Dancing Bear dirty burger... perfection in a bun, accompanied by gorgeous Bear Claw fries... beautiful smashed patty, cooked to perfection with delicious toppings and sauces... dirty burgers are my guilty secret, and this was right up there with the best I've ever tasted... what an amazing addition to Wellington... see you again soon Cock Hotel

I was excited to try this place after friends recommending it so we booked a table of 8 for my sons 19th Birthday. 3 of the party ordered off the main menu and they all really enjoyed their food. However 5 of us ordered burgers and when they came the buns were freezing cold. It's like they had been taken straight out the fridge or stored in an outside area. The burgers themselves were tasty it's just a shame the buns were so cold. I did mention this to a member of staff and she took one meal off the bill for us which I think was fair considering we did eat the food. The waiting staff were really nice and kept us topped up with drinks and were happy to bring the birthday cake we took with us out after the meal and gave us plates and a knife.

Food good but the service lets the entire experience down as it’s just slow, slow, slow -staff standing around slow! We booked d for 7.30pm, yes we didn’t order straight, asked a few question, didn’t get a response sohad ask again. We eventually ordered but hadto wait over 30 mins and the place wasn’t even busy. If your having a catch up, want time to chat then his is the place - if you don’t have the time then you need to decide good food versus a wait - shame as the staff are pleasant although not attentive. We were only offered drinks once in 2 hours.

Excellent Sunday roast. Good service from friendly staff. Quality of food is excellent. Pleasant environment and comfortable. For desert I had the largest apple and pear crumble imaginable, it could have served 4. Would recommend

Recently moved to Wellington and booked for my fiancés birthday. Lovely ambience when entering the restaurant. We were served by Maia who was great. We were told the food would take a little while longer (as the pie I ordered was cooked to order) but it was the perfect amount of time after the starter. Oh and the crumble… you only need one to share!

Lived in Telford all my life, never been to The Cock Hotel. Seen so many lovey posts on Facebook about here. So as my friends and myself were due a catch-up. I chose The Cock Hotel. I was truly taken back with the whole venue and the food was amazing. This is my new go to place and definitely want to try their Sunday lunch.

We held a surprise 40th birthday party for my wife at the Cock Hotel with 50+ guests. The Cock Hotel couldn't have been a better venue, they cordoned off two thirds of the dining area for us and we also paid for a hot and cold buffet to feed our guests. The staff were quick to bring out the buffet soon after the guests arrived and the food was wonderful. They had also catered for our gluten and diary-free guests. The setting and decor is modern and spacious with plenty of tables reserved for us, and Louise was sure to check that everything was ok for us. We saw lots of very nice looking roast dinners being served to other diners while we were there so will be sure to visit again for a Sunday lunch. Thanks again to the Cock Hotel team for hosting us!

Afternoon Tea was superb, the cock hotel takes some beating, not just for the top quality food but for the excellent service and just an amazing atmosphere staff are so friendly it makes for an amazing experience. Sandwiches was delicious well filled and the choice of filling was excellent, the warm sausage rolls and the scotch eggs were scrumptious, just had enough room for the scones with a huge helping of clotted cream and jam as for the rest of the food for which there was a lot well we took that home to enjoy later when we could eat again 10 out of 10.

What a wonderful day thanks to very well your hosting performance and capability. We all were really enjoying all the time at the restaurant and definitely come back again another day. Please convey my thanks to the staff who are supporting our party today 🙏

Great beers. Good food. Lovely staff. Weekend has live music. Delicious Sunday roast and on a Sunday afternoon there's free leftovers in the bar which is great with your pint after a nice walk etc.

A beautiful pub - much bigger than you expect!! Massive car park. Lovely staff. We only popped in for a quick drink, but we'll definitely be returning for a meal.

Have just paid a visit for food,and what a great place looks great ,the food and dessert were absolutely lip smacking And the landlord and director were friendly polite and what a change to be served by people who seem to do a hard job with a smile on there face,which is very rare. This place is an absolutely beautiful place. I went here a week ago for a meal and it was amazing. The food was just in a league of it's own. They don't offer a huge over crowded menu. They focus more on quality over quantity. Although it's not a huge menu it had an option for every one. The prices are about the same as your normal pub grub places the food is so much better here. The staff are really polite, welcoming and helpful. The look and feel of this place makes you believe you are in a more rustic countryside pub. They had a singer in the bar area ( Daniel James acoustic) who was absolutely fantastic. He wasn't to loud as to where you couldn't hold a conversation and set a really pleasant atmosphere. I have already recommended this place to people and will definitely be going back very soon.

We had an afternoon tea for 2. It was amazing plenty of food to tuck into and it tasted great! All homemade and what we couldn’t finish they boxed and we took home for later. Will definitely be returning. We have been for many afternoon tea’s even at the Ritz Hotel and this one surpassed all others for quality.

Excellent service from the start. Was immediate served and sat down with my order taken within minutes. 10 mins for starter, 9 mins for main then 2m5 mins for dessert, great service run by a clearly competent team and manager. The only thing I would but did not hinder the experience is the ability to be able to do card gratuity/tips for the staff. This wasn't an option unfortunately and not everyone has cash.

Had a lovely meal last night, the service and food was excellent. Also, a great atmosphere in the courtyard after for some drinks. I highly recommend

The bartender is very friendly and makes you happy. Watching the game on the big screen in the main hall was very clear and the atmosphere was great. My family and I enjoyed the experience of watching the game in the bar. So happy to have such a great bar and restaurant in this neighborhood.

Great food, particular favourite was the whipped mushroom parfait I started with - so light and flavourful. Good service from friendly staff and a really lovely atmosphere. A mixture of all ages, from babies to oldies, all having a fab night out.

Daughter and partner have literally just moved to Wellington today. Fabulous, cheerful pub with amazing food to boot and have the love for dogs.

Something for everyone - party of 6 we all enjoyed dinner. Staff super friendly and fun themed decor. Really tasty starters including: Salt Fish Fritters (really tasty) Pulled Jerk Chicken Stuffed Dumplings & Hot Pepper Shrimp (delicious), Mains included Curried Goat, Red Snapper Escovitch (bursting with flavours) & Jerk Chicken. Served with amazing sides including Rice and Peas, Mango Slaw,Fried Dumplings, Jerk Gravy & Sticky Sweet Plantains. We were all too full for dessert! Can’t wait for the next themed evening !!! Fabulous welcome from Simon ans Louise today popped in at lunchtime to sample the new summer menu. Had a delicious Caesar Salad with chicken, followed by Lemon tart and raspberry chantilly absolutely divine. Can't recommend the place highly enough. Don't walk run. Total satisfaction quality at affordable prices.

Such a lovely welcome we had today. 24 of us had a charity drive and finished our day off with lunch. Just want to thank Simon and his wonderful staff. The food was so delicious l,your staff are very helpful and very cheerful. Such a lovely pub. We will definitely be back.

Friendly, great selection of real ales and ciders. Well priced. Lovely outside garden area. Ask for a Fidget pork pie if peckish, delicious. The evening menu was a bit sameold sameold but the burger menu was fabulous. Burgers were delicious. The loaded fries were drowned in scrumptious toppings. Try the corn ribs, they are unusual but very tasty.

My first time at this location, I was there to meet a group of people who regularly meet there from Telford Auto club. We were there to collect their donation to a charity. The interior has been tastefully renovated and is actually very nice. Couldn’t comment on the accommodation,but the bar and eating areas wee very nice
