Coalport Tavern in Telford and Wrekin

Visited this last weekend tonsee the James Brothers. I was pleasantly surprised a gab venue with good atmosphere. The bar staff were deffo on their A game. So a huge well done.

Great pub,great staff, great entertainment every weekend love the karaoke every week and what’s even better they mix it up with live entertainment every Saturday night.

Came in for drinks on Saturday before the football, landlady was lovely and despite the fact she was swamped with people she coped really well! A cracking visit 👍

Atmosphere is great for England games and normal Friday/Saturday nights. There is lots of entertainment available including karaoke and dance nights. Behind the bar, Helen and Jacob are great to speak to and so kind!

Nikki was a great host. We asked if dog friendly on arrival, not noticing the jar of treats on the bar for dogs on entrance 🙈🙈🙈. Great time, good beer, pool table, and cues spot on. Pop in if in Oakengates 💯💯💯

1st visit for many year's, pleasantly suprised and impressed with the decor prices and quality of drinks, a little quiet for a Saturday but we'll be definitely going again

Great pub. Lovely and clean. Great host by the name of Niki. Pool table and Darts available as well as a selection of board games. Drinks served

New owners but they are good , beers cold and has a good taste.

Seemed like a ok pub. It's got a sports bar feel to it. Beer priced o.k and inside was quite smart with nice carpet. I'd use again no problem

Spent an afternoon playing pool (it's a quid a game). They have sky Sports on big screens and the place feels friendly.

Visited the Coalport Tavern on Sunday evening. The Landlord and Landlady are very friendly and welcoming. There was entertainment by Singer Alan Williams. He sang a wide variety of music' and I believe live music is going to be regular at the pub. It was good to see a live singer playing an instrument not the usual Kareokee music.The pub is very clean and modern. Very friendly regulars. Wonderful outdoor seating at the back of the building. We wish these new Landlord's success at the Coalport Tavern Oakengates.

Working away lads ideal boozer, quality pint and quality regulars. Footy on when you want it clean and fresh vibes throughout the place beer garden is nice, and well looked after. Well deserved 5 stars

OK but nothing going on there No karaoke or live music

Well what can I say, it’s was the worst experience I had ever had in a restaurant. I don’t see why the lady on the bar backchatted my wife about what we were ordering. Also, my children are very young and they don’t understand swear words and the people in the kitchen were swearing out loud. Unfortunately I am unable to comment what then words were because they are too inappropriate to mention on TripAdvisor but I would expect that from a pub that is 4 stars out of 5. It really lacks a lot of things including good customer service and dishwashing skills. #needsimproving #rubbish

Brilliant Sunday lunch for large group for birthday meal, we took a birthday cake with us and staff came out singing happy birthday, lovely staff. Great food restocked regularly. Good selection of meats and vegetables.

First visit and the Sunday Carvery is very good with lots of choice in veg, best cauliflour cheese & good portions of tender meat. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Will definately be going again.

Very disappointing carvery. The kitchen seemed to be run by children. The veg was all frozen and over cooked... And they served my child's meal in a bowl as they had run out of plates? With only 8 people eating?.. So in effect it looked like she was eating the dogs dinner!!? Such a shame.

A family friendly pub that has its own over 18year old area for those who want to drink away from children. The food is reasonably priced and very big in portions, so much so we couldn't finish our mains after our starter! The choice is wide and varied and the staff are always willing to help. My only criticism was that we have found that on nights where entertainment is booked food often stops a lot earlier than advertised. However, the Coalport is a beautiful family pub that I would always recommended.

We have visited this pub and had all day breakfast. Excellent value and tasty but our best experience was the booking of the back soon for a private function. Food was brilliant value and delicious. Help and support for preparation and after the event good too. The only issue I had was due to the slippery ramp to enter the room from outside area I injured my knee...... Ripped tendon and still in much pain one year on (awaiting surgery). I hope the awful green covering has now been replaced.

If you like a good carvey the coalport is well worth a visit , they have good selection meats and veg , very tasty food and no washing up to do after !!

we did this place when we visted ironbridge and a few other places i love history and there is so much to learn there are interesting things for the kids aswell all the places around this area are great a day that you wont be dissapointed in

A good proper pub (not part of a chain) with surprisingly good food! Very reasonably priced for both food and drinks with a good choice of beers and ciders. Jules and Laura go out of their way to accommodate people, they have karaoke, live acts, show sports, poker nights etc. It's changed a lot from the old days!

A colleague and I went to the Coalport Tavern a few weeks ago for a meal in our lunch break. It was the first time I'd been in there, but felt immediately at home as it feels like a typical Telford drinking pub. It's a Thwaites pub, with a selection of around 3 real ales. I can't remember which one I tried but it was really nice- and they obviously know how to keep their beer properly at this place! We both chose from the "2 courses for £5" menu, and went for fish and chips and a dessert. It wasn't a huge portion, but for the money it was very good value and really tasty. Proper chunky chips too. I went for a hot chocolate pudding with cream for dessert, which again was a decent portion. I'll definitely be returning soon for my lunch!
