Fallow Field in Telford and Wrekin

Pulling up to The Fallow Field early on a Saturday evening (approx 17.55) the car park was packed, which I took be a good sign. It wasn't. We were a group of five with a table booking for 18.30. We had to wait a few minutes at the entrance for someone to come and show us to our table, whilst the staff at the bar, next to the reception area, steadfastly ignored us (and the people behind us). We were shown to our table and told that our server would be with us "in a minute" to take a drinks order. Eventually, we gave up waiting and I went to the bar to get the drinks myself (the server came over whilst I was away so take that as you want). I ordered my drink and then tried to order an espresso martini - sorry, they're off as the coffee machine is broken (meaning no coffee for anyone, at all, all night? Really?) Anyway, I ordered an alternative and returned to my seat. The rest of the party arrived and after a short-ish wait we were able to order more drinks and the meals. The server read the meal order back to us and he had captured everything correctly. After about five minutes, the server returned to inform us that two of our starters (the Pate) were all sold out (already). We ordered something different and he went away. Starters arrived in good time. Two of us had the calamari; one of us loved the dish - chunky bits of calamari battered and fried - unlike the normal rings that get served elsewhere. The other calamari eater did not like this presentation and said they much preferred it served as rings. Main meals followed. Well, most of them did. One of the meals (correctly recorded by our server) had been forgotten so whilst four of us tucked in to avoid them going cold, one us waited (not too long) for the remaining meal to be cooked and then served. The vegan curry was deemed lovely, the fish and chips were nice, Hunters Chicken was good -all the mains (eventually) went down well. Desserts? Go on then. Rich caramel tart was on the lips of one of us until they realised it was served cold (what? No thanks) and they opted, instead, for the Crumble dessert. They found that the apples were hard and unpleasant in the dish so didn't finish it. The chocolate brownie sundaes were lovely but mine contained more than a hint of orange in it that was not as described in the menu - not an issue for me but I'm not sure it was as it should have been. During the meal we had also ordered a couple of drinks which took their time to come so, in my estimation, the full car park, earlier, was because either service was really slow or they were understaffed. We didn't make a song and dance about these minor issues nor did we complain about anything on the night but we left feeling a little disappointed with the whole thing. The bill came to approx. £36 a head which, for three courses (for only three of us, two courses for the other two)) and a couple of drinks (again, for just three of us) was just at the tipping point of acceptable. Would we go there again? Some of us wouldn't, if we were paying, and some of us would. Not the best experience of pub style food we've ever had nor the worst. Service, however, could definitely do with some improvement in terms of speed and attention to detail - e.g. the kitchen could let the servers know what machinery is out of order and what dishes are off the menu so they could let people know before people order. Minor things but they have the capacity to annoy out of proportion.

Excellent service with Jayne she was so amazing and we had a giggle! The chef John produced an amazing meal for tour. We will be returning soon as great value for money and super ambiance for a Monday Evening.

This Fallow Field is an amazing place for food and drinks. The atmosphere is perfect with the lights and the music especially during Christmas. The food made by the chefs Lee and Chris was outstanding with great portions with both the look and taste being astonishing. The staff we got served by, Rich and Jayne, were lovely and always being helpful where they could. I would happily come back to the Fallow For food. Drink quality was perfect, both in taste and presentation.

Had a great first Xmas tonight. Great service as always from all staff front of house and kitchen. Jayne, Kris and Ryan did a top job nothing was too much trouble. ( just one thing the dinner was a bit sparse of gravy, needs addition if requested but no charge) I’m always left feeling full and would always recommend the pub and hotel to family and friends. Keep up the good work 👍

Stayed here overnight and ate Sunday and also breakfast. All was good, even served real ales. Friendly staff. Nice room, well equipped and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay again.

Unfortunately this wasn’t a good experience. We were seated at 3, we got out drink ant 3:42. Our food came out at 4:06 we left by 4:20. I ordered a drink and was brought a different one. When I tried to change it I was told.’well we don’t have it’ it would have been nice to have the choice. Secondly we ordered 4 trio roasts as we wanted crackling. We were brought no crackling. When I asked I was told it’s probably gone. I asked if they could check I was brought a bit of fat maybe the size of 50 pence ( for four people). It had no crackling but did have the string. The parsnips weren’t cooked. I ordered cauliflower cheese. It wasn’t good at all. It was boiled cauliflower with tablespoon of sauce from a can/tub. It wasn’t even baked. It was anaemic and disgusting so we left it. I didn’t even want to try a pudding, this privilege cost is £90+ I didn’t want to pay but my children took me out for an anniversary and paid it. Can’t say I would like to return.

Lovely local pub/restaurant, great for Sunday Roast

Been here a few times when we feel like a treat breakfast. The staff are always polite friendly and professional. You could go elsewhere and pay more for a bigger portion or “farm shop” ingredients, but for the price you pay here and the good quality food you get on the breakfast plate, you really can’t beat it!. Fallow fields is our favourite place to go for breakfast.

Im picky when it comes to food. It wasn’t the best but it was nice. The hotel itself and the the staff on my arrival and on Saturday were all lovely. Very friendly, smiled, spoke and made our stay worth it. Thanks you guys.

The food was great, the service outstanding and it was so nice that the alcoholic drinks were so delicious. As a vegan, I really would recommend this place!

Nice place, nice people, nice food, what else?!

Overall we had a very nice dinner. 3 items that we had ordered were unavailable but understandable in the current climate. The waitresses were very happy and helpful.

Lovely atmosphere, stylish place, great customer service, we were acknowledged immediately, given a table and and our order was taken quickly. Food served much quicker than expected. The food was beautiful to a very high standard. The whole experience was a pleasure.

We all had the 'Veggie Works' breakfast. It was delicious - perfectly cooked. It was great being able to help yourself to toast etc. from the continental buffet. The staff were nice and helpful, and the atmosphere was very pleasant (we were able to bring our dog too). Definitely recommend and will visit again.

Spent 2 nights here for a wedding nearby 5* service I would recommend and breakfast is amazing

We were looked after by Jayne and Kim, made us very welcome...nothing was to much trouble for them...highly recommended.

Very accommodating, we had a large party and all the staff were helpful and friendly. There was a delay with my daughters starter main and pudding which felt a shame for her as it was all 3 courses that was delayed but the rest of the party was relatively quick, my daughter's salad that she ordered tasted of fish and the croutons were soft in texture, so she didn't eat this lucky we ordered an extra main that she was able to eat instead. Over all our experience was good and for such a large party your team did a great job of looking after us. Thank you for making my Dad's retirement and birthday celebrations so relaxed and enjoyable.

Visited for the first time as part of a group of 6. The service was fast and the food was really nice (I had chicken and mushroom pie, which was really tasty!)

Receptionist came across rude, staff gossiping about each other next to us. Food is over priced for the small portion received, had to wait 10 mins for someone to serve us, then the food took ages to come out.

Very good service from Ellie and Chef Ryan. However was a little cool in the dining area nothing uncomfortable though. Food was amazing no complaints and piping hot.Very good.

I stayed at the Fellow Field Pub and Hotel for 11 nights, enjoying both breakfast and dinner daily. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, particularly the manager overseeing breakfast. I frequently ordered the calamari as a starter and the sirloin steak for the main course, both of which were consistently cooked to perfection. The breakfast menu was outstanding; my favorite dish was the smashed avocado on toast accompanied by hash browns and mushrooms. Overall, the hotel experience was excellent.

Fairly average pub. Good food but gone down hill a bit since they stopped doing the rotisserie chickens.

Jayne and Kris were excellent; friendly and attentive. I had an issue with my booking and they were very helpful and understanding. I’ve stayed and eaten here many times and it’s always my go to when working in the area.

All ok. Beds are small. Reception was a bit odd.... It feels like you've checked in for a meal rather than a hotel stay. People are kind and friendly.

we found staff welcoming, polite, and tentative. Food was really nice if I had any criticism it would be the staff dress when you pay for table service which is not cheap you would expect the staff to be dressed to impress as they are ambassadors for the company, our table waitress was dressed in a very loud tee shirt rather tatty jogging bottoms and trainers hair was unkempt rather a let down Yours sincerely

Service was great and food was good, could have just been a little warmer. Having the EV chargers an added bonus. Would be great if they offered a discount when using the chargers and eating/drinking.

Booked sunday lunch for husband and myself, our drinks orders & food orders were taken after a few mins wait, i had roast beef husband had mixed grill, both were delicious, the roast potatoes were heaven as was the huge yorkshire pud& felt very full but could squeeze in a pud, we both went for sticky toffee pudding Jayne took our orders & kris was chef both did a great job would definately recommend a visit

Great service and food yet again! Jayne always made sure our wine glasses were topped up and Graham cooked a banging Lasagne. Will be back again

We've been coming here a few times now and to say we never had a bad meal we've even brought friends we us who loved it to now we've been to other restaurants and its good the first time maybe the next but then things start slipping but here never have a problem even tonight was busy are waitresses jayne still made sure we was attend too as all his other customers was too great place to come fabulous as always keep up the good work don't slip like others do my other half days the fish and chips is always amazing I hear this is thanks to chef Ryan 👍 keep it up guys I love it so much I've asked for a job whi wouldn't want to work with jayne 😍

Me and My family stays this weekend - cant fault the service - friendly welcome - gave us our room keys - we hadn't booked a table but we were squeezed in - fast service - great food and catered for my GF son - the hotel was close clean and spacious, breakfast in the AM we did a few substitutions so clean plates all round 10/10 stay

A wonderful atmosphere and food was great. We had the added bonus of live music. So nice to have adequate parking, it really made a difference.

Stayed here a couple of times for work, but won't be again. Whilst the servers individually are nice it is badly managed. You're left standing at the bar for ages waiting to get served while various people potter about behind the bar ignoring those waiting to get served. I was staying in the rooms, which are shabby and definitely need a refresh, but was rudely told we couldn't eat in the restaurant one night because all the tables had been reserved for the quiz, however myself and colleagues tried later and were told we could have a table and when we sat down there were loads of reserved tables empty. The manager was a rude woman who needs customer service training, which is a shame as the woman working at the breakfasts couldn't have been nicer. All in all there are definitely nicer more welcoming hotels in the area.

Waited a long time for drinks. Food took so much longer. Went to bar to order drinks, lady behind the bar was very dismissive serving people who were there after me and even said to go back to the table to wait to be served. Two people in my party ordered the steak only for it to arrive stone cold and still pink. Staff member came to collect the first one and was very miserable and unapologetic. One of the redone steaks came back and was still inedible, the manager came along and was very apologetic. Which we were very grateful for. Also ordered a couple of drinks which they ran out of, and to be fair to him, he sorted a cocktail on the house.

The promised 30% off voucher never arrived, the singing was awful and intrusive, the prices were silly and we never saw a smile from a single staff member, so we paid for our drinks and left.

Had a bad experience here 2 years ago so thought I'd give them another chance. But nothing had changed. After being seated and 20 minute wait our drink order was taken. Then another wait to get our drinks. Our food order was taken by "Karen" as for a minute thought we'd booked the wrong diner ? . We were told no turkey even though this was 2pm on a Sunday? Food was served in various bowls and plates and no consistency throughout we ordered a bowl of chips £3.50 these came out in a sugar bowl containing 10 chips ? . My daughter had chocolate brownie desert which was thrown on the table my Karen which shocked all of us !!!!!!! We ordered icecream sundaes which were served in mini beer glasses on our table and then larger latte glasses on another. Overall disappointed visit and maybe change the the name to Karen's Diner then at least you what expect...

Our Family had the most beautiful fish lunch here it was very delicious we didn’t wait long for service, the host was very welcoming in greeting us. Only down fall was the waitress stretching over me an my food to collect a plate, she could have walked 4steps around. Good value and Would definitely recommend to others.

Sat in a comfortable booth, quite a busy evening. Served by Nikki who was very attentive and did not rush us. I had Calamari to start it was perfectly cooked and tasted great. The others had a variety of starters and all were delicious also. I had a ribeye for main and it was cooked to perfection, this is the second or third steak I have had at The Fallow Field and every time it has been cooked perfectly. In several other pubs within 5km the steak would have cost at least £10 more. The others had a variety of mains and they were equally good. I have no hesitation in recommending The Fallow Field for its good value, good quality food and great service.

Overall, the visit was lovely and the food was great. My last visit was with my husband and three children, and despite two of my children being picky eaters, everybody was happy with their chosen meal. The service was fabulous and the staff were friendly and attentive, despite the restaurant being fairly busy. The only improvement I could recommend would be with my own starter. I had the karaage chicken, which was lovely, but it would have been nicer if the blue cheese dressing was in a small pot on the side instead of over the food. I do absolutely love blue cheese and blue cheese dressing, but at one point I picked up what I thought was a small piece of chicken covered in dressing and it actually turned out to be a very large piece of blue cheese. This would have been fine if I knew what it was to start, but it was a little bit unpleasant to be surprised by that!

Very nice friendly service. My girlfriend enjoyed her sea bass but my sirloin steak was disappointing. It had a lot of gristle on, which I wouldn't expect from this establishment. I lost about 30% of steak because it was inedible.

Poppy our waitress gave us lovely service and was helpful and really approachable.

Sunday menu not available despite website saying available all day. No staff at reception. Queue at the bar for us to order. Tables not cleared after other diners had left. When the food arrived the chips and onion rings tasted like they'd been left under a hot lamp for some time didn't taste fresh and as for the hunters chicken......chicken overcooked and dry, plate was swimming in fluid from the chicken making the salad soggy and inedible. No staff came and asked us if everything was OK and when I complained and asked for a refund on the Hunters chicken I wasn't asked why. Basically the worst experience and will not be back. Shocking

We were seated at a table told who would be looking after us. We then sat waiting whilst 2 members of staff were sprawled across seating doing nothing and the one who sat us at our table kept going outside although no one was outside so we left.

I have been regularly using the Fallowfields to meet customers over the last few months now as the location and setting works well for me. Over and above this though, is the service offered at every visit from Julie and Kim. Their personable approach, warm welcome and "nothing is too much hassle" attitude makes each occasion a real pleasure. I can't speak highly enough about their approach and this is the main reason I keep coming back! Thank you!

This was our first visit to the Fallow Field and we will definitely be returning. The food was delicious, lots of choice, big portions and the pub itself was very pleasant to sit in. At times I did feel the service was a little bit slow however this didn't bother us as we were on our own without our children so it gave us time to talk but if I had my children with me I think I would of wanted quicker service. All the servers were very friendly, I'd like to highlight in particular Nikki who was fantastic, checked that our food was okay, brought us further drinks and told us about the live music going on that evening and that we would be welcome to sit in the bar if we wished to stay. Really welcoming and happy staff team :-)

Had a nice steak. Rik sax was playing and the atmosphere was very good. Enjoyable night had by all.

I have been here a few times and it's generic in terms of chain pub food, staff seem helpful when they get to you but it does scream of being very understaffed. One of my pet peeves is being noticed by someone and them not verbally acknowledging it. This happens a lot here, just a "I will be with you shortly" goes a long way... Food is alright, it's slightly higher end of average price but it's generally acceptable.

Popped in for a meal on our way home. Was waiting for food for a long while. Asked for certain requirements but when it came it wasnt right. We were sat outside and never saw a member of staff and no one asked if all was ok. Had waited long enough so ate what we could. Was disappointed as weve been before and had superb food

Great all round. The staff. Food. Service. Atmosphere. We stayed for the night en route to holiday. Can't recommend any particular dishes as we ate out all week and can't remember what we had here sorry.

Wonderful food, catering to a wide variety of tastes, excellent portion sizes, the desserts were beautiful. The serve was second to none, and big thank you to Jayne who was very welcoming and cheerful who went out of her way to provide a fabulous service from beginning to end. I would highly recommend if looking for a positive dining out experience.

Last time I visited I wasn’t impressed with the service, albeit a long time ago. This time I was impressed the food was very tasty, items were able to be modified due to intolerances, service was courteous, quick and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will be back again very soon

Placed in a far corner away from everybody, when there was.plenty of space. Food mediocre. Abandoned after main meal, had to go and ask for the pudding. It was soo hot as it had been microwaved, and given a soup spoon to eat it. An apology does not wash, appalling customer service. Won't return !!! Your response is incorrect. It was not busy in the part of the restaurant I was taken to..2 other tables of diners. I was ignored after I had finished eating and had to search for somebody to deal with me...a young lad with no uniform or apron on...! I was given a SOUP spoon to eat the pudding which was so hot it burnt my gums. No impressed at all. Response reflects the poor customer service in the pub. Shall be reporting g this poor experience to your head office!!!

Where to start! Our party of 4 ordered the following 3 × Trio Sunday Roast, also 2 × Cauliflower cheese side dishes & 1 × Kebab. The roast potatoes were undercooked, hard and pale in colour. Gravy servings were sparse, with the cauliflower hard. All not helped by knifes that had lost their cutting ability. The kebab had burnt sausage, too. At the end of the meal, after payment, my son who is a Chef, pointed out our observations to the young waitress clearing the tables, saying it would not be food he would send out from the kitchen and could she inform the Chef. The whole experience, I am sorry to say,was a disappointment - especially as all our previous visits were 5 Star and faultless.

Was quiet, went in for a coffee staff friendly and the place was clean.

Staff very friendly and lovely welcome. Room Clean and bed very comfy. Enjoyed a cooked breakfast in the morning. If I stayed in Telford area again I'd be happy to stay here again.

Went for hubbys birthday meal. We both ordered steak I had sirloin and he had rib eye both ordered medium done. I don’t know what he got but it wasn’t rib eye although it was overcooked he enjoyed it but for £20 it looked like an Asda steak. Mine was meant to be a medium to it was well over. Tasted bitter and burnt. Was so disappointed. Both meals a pint of Guinness and a coffe e cost nearly £57. No one came and asked if our meal was ok and the coffee was cold.

Great food and a nice friendly atmosphere, Jayne was the member of staff who served, me she was very polite and helpful. After my meal and drink arrived and while I was enjoying it Jayne noticed that a couple of children were running in and out of 1 of the small doors leading to the beer garden area, she asked them to use a different one so as not to disturb me while I was eating. This slowed a great deal of customer consideration in my opinion which is rarely seen these days and very much appreciated by me. Fantastic thought Jayne 👏.

Stopped in for some food after an archery competition at Lilleshall. Nice place, friendly staff, food was pretty good as well and would go back. they also offer rooms in the adjacent building.

Jayne was our server. Hands down the best waitress I’ve had in an incredibly long time. Not just at this restaurant! So welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much bother. We will definitely be back. :)

Excellent service, fantastic meal, very good waiting time between courses, great atmosphere, 5 STAR SERVICE, servers were very friendly and very polite, nothing was too much trouble. The only place I've ever been where the quality of the food is extremely consistent.

Attempted a drink at 22.20 to be told they a were closed. Some use having opening times if the management get to pick and choose when they shut depending if it’s quiet or not.

I have eaten here on a number of occasions and it's been ok .Today was not good, poor slow service, inedible food I had a pie that was ok until half way through and it had been so over cooked I couldn't even cut through it.I went to the bar to settle up, where I said I would not be paying for my meal as it was inedible,the only response I had was did someone ask you if everything was ok,my reply was no.The no server took it off the bill without question or apology, she said nothing to intice me to return.The manager gave no acknowledgement either,clearly not bothered about customer service or satisfaction.The Grazing Cow could teach you a few things regarding customer service ,satisfaction and plain manners ! I will not be returning !

I really liked this pub but it was unfortunately let down by the service. The place itself is beautiful - modern and tasteful. The building was very clean, tidy and cosy. The food was lovely and the portion sizes great. Sadly the service was not up to the same standards. While our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived in good time, the desert ordering was slow and they took a long time to arrive. An extra drink we ordered never arrived, although thankfully it wasn't added to the bill. Also the deposit we had paid for the table was not deducted from the bill. I appreciate that it was father's day but the pub wasn't overly busy. I wouldn't say it would stop me visiting and all our party said we'd like to visit again soon.

We stay at the fallow field when we are working in the area and we never miss an opportunity to visit. The staff are amazing, the food is great and reasonably priced and the beer is cold and served with haste. The server Ellis is particularly brilliant, but all the staff are ace.

The staff members here are lovely, we couldn't fault them. However, the food does let it down. The soup was tasty enough, the chicken BLT was very basic, as was the feta and watermelon salad. My daughter had a vegan sandwich, which was again not exciting. Could be better presented and somehow lacked love.
