Great ideas were forward to myself and she made all the entertainment bookings and took all the stress out of the orginisation and guided when needed. Great in communications to advice or come up with plan b’s. Faultless from the start to the end. All the gueasts loved all the rooms with a lovely decor. Had pizza here a few times on the past 2-3 years and had always been good, but today’s experience was simply unacceptable and I’d go as far as to say disgraceful. The base is now a cheap supermarket pre-made affair, with a low quality sugary tomato sauce and the most incredible element was the cheese which rather than being the expected mozzarella topping, was actually semi-melted economy cheddar. It was beyond awful and given places like The Half Moon and Tontine Hotel do reasonably good pizza, don’t come here if that’s what you’re after. Complaining would have been pointless as none of this could be remedied and being a pub, we paid in advance and so have been robbed. The accompanying salad was average at best and any pub which a) serves regulars first (we were clearly at the bar already) and b) doesn’t respond to poor reviews, isn’t one I’d ever recommend to visitors.

We didn’t realise it was so busy until we looked around the corner and they even gave us a shot for the wait. (We didn’t think we were left waiting) Little hiccup with the food but again sorted very quickly and didn’t affect anything. We don’t live too far away so will definitely be back for Sunday lunch

Private party - told I had to use their buffet if I wanted to use the venue. £10 a head paid £300 total. Was told the “room” which isn’t even separate to the rest of the pub was free because of the custom we would bring in and we were using their food. On the day food came out late, to then see the only food I had specifically asked for hadn’t even been done, instead we were given 8 items total that included a bowl of lettuce and some crisps. No Samosas and onion bhajis like I was shown on a video (the food looked lovely on the video lots of variety, was for 70 people so expected the same just under half the amount) Complained the next day after hearing most people at the party actually had nothing!! To have Trudy lie about our children and call my budget tiny!! Rude! will strongly recommend anyone away from here! All our guests we’re shocked at how ripped off we have been. Told we left a mess, when our only decorations were a few helium balloons and 2 banners, we have been totally lied about on their Facebook reviews too. Malthouse or the swan are much better with much more friendly staff. Also no baby changing so definitely not kid friendly.

The pub itself is lovely and welcoming however the food isn’t. Paying nearly 20 pounds for a burger and a soft drink I waited nearly an hour and a half on a quiet lunchtime. After going up 2 times and asking how long the food would be it finally arrived and was very disappointing. The burgers were more of a small rubber puck and the macaroni and cheese tasted and looked as thought it had come out of a tin can. The coleslaw was soggy and flavourless and the chicken and bacon wrap was burnt to a crisp. Although the staff were accommodating the food is nothing of what the price indicates and is not worth it at all. Was very disappointed.

Great beer, great service, lovely atmosphere. We visited this place randomly after a day in Ironbridge and we just walked in. Just the 2 of us and the staff said to just help ourselves to seats, fairly busy but if you're looking for a nice warm fire, great food and service then this is the place to be. Whether you're a local or a newcomer, you feel welcome. We had fish and chips and honestly, it was some of the best fish I've had in a long time. Normally you find bland or overcooked fish but the chef knows what they are doing, home made tartar sauce and home cut chips. It was a delight to eat and drink here. Definitely cosy and definitely coming back. This visit was about 3 weekends ago now but meant to write this review back then!

The rooms are ok clean but outdated but it is an old building Food at night is very poor quality and very small portions One of us had Sirloin steak came with 8 chips , 1 mushroom and a tiny bit of greenery The steak was either not Sirloin or it was the cheapest piece they could find I couldn’t eat any of it after one bite it was so thick and chewy I just took it home for the dog. The bar at night was quite busy but the two male bar staff clearly didn’t want to be there No organisation, or enthusiasm One is the owner I’m told the other looks like Pendold and has no personality whatsoever- the worlds most boring man who was struggling for energy - both kept getting food and drinks orders wrong. How can you get a glass of wine mixed up as a pint of larger? Breakfast seemed to have no set times but was served it about 9:30 am Again the food was cheap, streaky bacon that was cold and hard, very pale beans, one egg that was popped has brown and mushrooms all cold or room temperature. The toast was hovered over the toaster to warm it up slightly. Yea caramel with no milk toast came with one little pack of butter so we had to ask for both It’s changed hands in the last year or so and clearly the new owners are trying to make a lot of money as cheaply as possible It has gone down hill - very much so Would only go for drinks next time if it’s not too difficult for the bar staff

Bought my mother in law and partner in for Sunday lunch and I wish I hadn't bothered. The staff were loud with one barmaid in particular swearing. Very unprofessional. Sunday lunch arrived after quite a wait. The gravy was like dirty water, veg arrived separately which we didn't like, and was tepid! I want a meal all on one plate, and not have to build it myself. Not a substantial meal for the price. A very clicky pub with the locals. It's like the food is an after thought with locals sitting at the bar and being served first. Will not be returning!

Visited with our friends. We ordered our food within quick succession of each other and only theirs turned up. We waited for a good 10/15 minutes and our food never showed up. I went and asked and it finally came out, but honestly I don’t think our food would have ever turned up if we didn’t ask. The food was ok but the gravy for the Sunday roast was very watery and the broccoli was rock solid and cold. We then went to the bar to order more drinks and they didn’t have any fizzy drinks as the machine was broken and there wasn’t enough lemonade from a bottle to serve us both so we went without. The man serving us didn’t really care. Our desserts then came out incomplete and the chef came over to finish them at the table. We’ve visited this pub once before and had a great experience but this time it was honestly dreadful and the staff didn’t seem too bothered. We won’t be returning.

I had messaged the pub on Facebook to book a table for my wife’s birthday and they seemed lovely and offered us a table near the bar and a free cocktail for my wife to celebrate, which sounded great. However, when we arrived it all seemed very chaotic and nobody knew what was going on. We arrived on time and said we’d got a table booked but we were told all the tables are busy and it would be a 30 minute wait for a seat. Fortunately a table became free a few minutes later, so we then ordered a pizza and a small scampi & chips (£22 total). The food was quite average, nothing special but also not too expensive so it was okay - although the waitress did spill some of the salad & dressing over my jeans as she brought it to the table. I mentioned to the waitress about the cocktail for my wife and she did then get her one, which was appreciated. Overall I’d say it’s an okay place to eat if you want something a bit cheaper than the fancier pubs in Ironbridge, but don’t expect anything amazing.

Welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food. A short walk from the river and well worth making the effort for somewhere perhaps a little less crowded.

This was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had, there was hardly anything available on the reduced menu which made for a very limited choice. When we did manage to choose a dish that they hadn’t run out of, when it came it was...

My family joined me for my birthday celebration in January 2020 at this truly delightful gastro pub. The lady chef owner and her lady chef colleague provided excellent meals, including for my vegetarian grand daughter. Service was excellent & the guest beers even won plaudits...

Food not good, nothing on the menu, pork dish, scollap dish, burger and a vegetarian dish. Why can’t a local pub do the good old fashioned menu, fish and chips, burgers, pies etc at least people will then visit the pub . Not good at...

My wife and I have eaten here before and enjoyed the food greatly, so we decided to travel over from Birmingham and decided it would be nice to stay overnight. Helen opened one of the rooms for us across the courtyard, which was quiet and...

Staying with some friends who'd used this place for over 35 years they'd booked a ttable for 4. The food arrived and was frankly inedible. The chilli was hot on the outide but cold on the inside. The chowder tasted nothing like chowder, andd I've...

We had previously booked for a bank holiday Monday. There were only four main dishes on the blackboard menu plus pizza and bbq. We had popped in earlier in the day to look at menu and set our hearts on the sea bass. When the...

Pulling up to The Fallow Field early on a Saturday evening (approx 17.55) the car park was packed, which I took be a good sign. It wasn't. We were a group of five with a table booking for 18.30. We had to wait a few minutes at the entrance for someone to come and show us to our table, whilst the staff at the bar, next to the reception area, steadfastly ignored us (and the people behind us). We were shown to our table and told that our server would be with us "in a minute" to take a drinks order. Eventually, we gave up waiting and I went to the bar to get the drinks myself (the server came over whilst I was away so take that as you want). I ordered my drink and then tried to order an espresso martini - sorry, they're off as the coffee machine is broken (meaning no coffee for anyone, at all, all night? Really?) Anyway, I ordered an alternative and returned to my seat. The rest of the party arrived and after a short-ish wait we were able to order more drinks and the meals. The server read the meal order back to us and he had captured everything correctly. After about five minutes, the server returned to inform us that two of our starters (the Pate) were all sold out (already). We ordered something different and he went away. Starters arrived in good time. Two of us had the calamari; one of us loved the dish - chunky bits of calamari battered and fried - unlike the normal rings that get served elsewhere. The other calamari eater did not like this presentation and said they much preferred it served as rings. Main meals followed. Well, most of them did. One of the meals (correctly recorded by our server) had been forgotten so whilst four of us tucked in to avoid them going cold, one us waited (not too long) for the remaining meal to be cooked and then served. The vegan curry was deemed lovely, the fish and chips were nice, Hunters Chicken was good -all the mains (eventually) went down well. Desserts? Go on then. Rich caramel tart was on the lips of one of us until they realised it was served cold (what? No thanks) and they opted, instead, for the Crumble dessert. They found that the apples were hard and unpleasant in the dish so didn't finish it. The chocolate brownie sundaes were lovely but mine contained more than a hint of orange in it that was not as described in the menu - not an issue for me but I'm not sure it was as it should have been. During the meal we had also ordered a couple of drinks which took their time to come so, in my estimation, the full car park, earlier, was because either service was really slow or they were understaffed. We didn't make a song and dance about these minor issues nor did we complain about anything on the night but we left feeling a little disappointed with the whole thing. The bill came to approx. £36 a head which, for three courses (for only three of us, two courses for the other two)) and a couple of drinks (again, for just three of us) was just at the tipping point of acceptable. Would we go there again? Some of us wouldn't, if we were paying, and some of us would. Not the best experience of pub style food we've ever had nor the worst. Service, however, could definitely do with some improvement in terms of speed and attention to detail - e.g. the kitchen could let the servers know what machinery is out of order and what dishes are off the menu so they could let people know before people order. Minor things but they have the capacity to annoy out of proportion.

I'm really glad to say the Lion is back, a great selection of beers and lagers including real ales, they also have Heineken zero on draught if you're looking for the alcohol free alternative. The food is excellent, freshly cooked with no complaints from our party. The staff were very friendly and polite and took everything in their stride.
