The Red Lion Shooters Hill in Greenwich

Great local vibe with friendly service and hearty food. The indoor and outdoor seating options were hard to choose between on a sunny day. Conveniently located on the 89 bus route.

Had the Roast beef Dinner, really not nice. Nothing had any taste, obviously frozen veg, frozen potatoes, new minted potatoes that were bright green, bright pink red cabbage, which was hard & still no taste, smothered in gravy which also had no taste. Came with a pig in blanket that tasted like a frankfurter sausage, insipid looking, and a big blob of what I think was supposed to be stuffing that was dark grey. Why you get those trimmings with Beef, is beyond me. My husband had the Roast pork , I tasted his, like my beef, with a blind taste test, you wouldn’t know what meat you were eating. Didn’t eat mine it was not nice. Don’t waste you money, steer clear. Admittedly they only charged for one dinner as I hadn’t eaten mine, but I would rather have eaten a lovely dinner and paid in full. No returning for us I’m afraid.

After being told I had to pay £100 deposit up front for the use of a function room and told it was refundable, they then failed to refund me and ignored me. I paid my deposit in mid-January for the use of the room in early February. I gave them notice a full 10 days before the date to tell them I needed to cancel. They then promised a refund which never came. I called between 5 and 10 times across several weeks to be told 'The manager will call you back' 'We will get back to you' We will have it in your bank account' repeatedly trying to get a hold of someone and not a single phone-call back Quick to take the money but not so quick to quick to refund. I wouldn't pay any deposit at the pub and i'd avoid it if you can, regardless of a deposit or not. Shocking customer service.

The food is lovely at the Red Lion, we’ve eaten there about 6 times in a month and never been disappointed!! The service is very good as well and last Sunday the live singer was great!

Excellent, “real” Sunday dinner in a proper English pub. It’s been ages since I’ve had a Sunday roast this nice and I’m quite picky with them, so to find a pub like this near to where I live was wonderful. Really tasty, straightforward and unpretentious food, nice atmosphere, good pints, lovely staff. Like pubs used to be. Dog friendly too. Loved it, and will be back.

After a well needed recent refurbishment this pub looks great inside and out. Sports screens where you need them but not overpowering and an open fire on cold days when you just want to sit relax. With a good selection of reasonably priced meals and friendly bar staff we love to dive in and have bite to eat , a pint when we have been for a walk in the nearby woods. The garden area has also been refurbished and looks great with an outside screen and dog friendly . With live singers most weekends adding to the London Pub atmosphere . There are a few local pubs to choose from in the area but with this one ticking all our boxes its the one we choose to use 👌🏼😃

The red lion is a very friendly pub lovely staff and it’s all very clean . Lovely garden. It’s my second time there this year meeting up with friends for lunch the first time the food was lovely but today it was very bad , my friends ordered sandwiches and asked if it was bloomer bread and got told it was when it came up it definitely was not bloomer bread and the butter in the bread looked like a cheese slice . I had a chicken burger it was like chicken you get from a packet that you would have in a sandwich definitely not freshly cooked. Then dessert that was terrible lemon tart was like mush especially for the price .

We visited for lunch while walking the Capital Ring. After reading reviews online our expectations were not high, however we had a great meal in the sunny beer garden (which seems to have been recently renovated). We had fish & chips and sausage & mash, both of which were cooked to perfection. The only negative feedback is that the food took a long time to arrive, however it was definitely worth the wait!

This pub is great for families and has a very prime location on Shooter's Hill Road. I visited on Father's Day with my family and had great food, great staff and great service. Atmosphere is lively and would definitely 100% visit again in the near future!!!!

We visited yesterday, thought it would be nice to meet with some family over dinner. Arrived at the pub which was busy, we thought “this is a good sign” atmosphere was good (also show football in the corner). Sat down for dinner and a singer then starts, although she was good you cannot hear yourself think. This would be fine if you were going to someone where you didn’t want to speak to anyone, I couldn’t even hear my husband speaking next to me. The waitress couldn’t even hear what we wanted for food. Too much going on! Save your money on a singer and just have a good atmosphere. Seems they are trying a little too hard, just go with the flow. Extremely disappointed that they do not offer kids food or even a roast at a child’s portion size. Unfortunately will not be coming back.

WOW! Had the pleasure of visiting the Red Lion on Shooters Hill a couple of times, each time I/family and friends have had an experience (Gordon Ramsey would salivate at!) All the staff are so friendly, and quick to serve. Food is exceptional and not too pricey. I've had lunch today with a friend, we took a quick glance at the Valentine's Menu, which I think is both pleasing to the wallet (£25.00!) and to the pallet.. So, there's not just excellent food, live music, Thursdays, Fridays and if I'm correct, Sundays. The Red Lion is child friendly, dog friendly, people friendly and has a beautiful garden. What's not to like? This is truly a hidden gem on Shooters Hill. Myself, family and friends will be returning again and again. Thank you Red Lion! Bridget James.

Such incredibly friendly landlord and staff, really go above and beyond. Massive portions of home style food. Close enough to home and after two visits we are likely to become regulars!
