Stayed here for a couple of nights when we visited the Lancaster Experience nearby. Fantastic atmosphere, Christine, your host was welcoming and really friendly, the rooms were lovely and well equipped with everything you could wish for. The food was excellent and of high end restaurant quality. There is a beautiful garden and easy parking, it was pleasant to sit out during the evening and have a drink, so quiet and peaceful. This is not the usual pub, it functions mainly as a hotel and as a result there are usually only guests about and it's lovely and peaceful.

No warm welcome on arrival, just asked if we were looking for a table. Then told the restaurant wasn't being opened but we could sit in the bar. We weren't asked if we wanted a drink before being given one sheet of paper menu between the two of us, so both trying read it at the same time. Personally I like to peruse my menu. If you're going for a nice pint, a good glass of wine, and a meal, you may leave a little disappointed. There is no beer on tap, just bottled, and only a choice of Merlot or Shiraz for red wine, which was cold, not room temperature. The food was good though. Plates were very hot keeping the food warm to the end. We were unfortunately sat next to the sound system, which was a little too loud for comfort when sat right next to it. The only other people in the pub seemed to be friends or family, so we felt a little bit as though we were intruding. Looks like the owners are concentrating on the accommodation rather than the pub side.

My wife and I stayed here as part of a visit to Lincolnshire for the East Kirkby Air Display. On arrival we were greeted by Christine and made to feel most welcome. We stayed in Room 4 in the rear courtyard. The room was amazing with exquisite decor and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was out of this world with a free standing bath and a very large shower. A lot of thought has gone into designing the interior of this accommodation. We had our evening meal here, cooked by Jane, and this also was great as was the inclusive breakfast the following morning which set us up for the day. Christine was a great host, happy to spend time chatting with us, as was Jane. It was a shame that the Red lion was fully booked for the rest of our visit as we would have happily stayed here for our four nights. The photos in the gallery do not do justice to the accommodation This is a great place to stay and a credit to Christine and we would highly recommend it and will stay again when we next visit Lincolnshire

My husband and I stayed for two nights with both sets of parents at The Red Lion. The rooms really are perfect - beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean - and the breakfasts (cooked to order) couldn't have been bettered. We also ate in the restaurant and enjoyed delicious, well-cooked food on both occasions. Christine and her staff (special mention to Jane, the chef) were friendly and welcoming, and we really couldn't have asked for more. Very highly recommended!

We booked here hoping for a quiet night after a very busy couple of weeks and we arrived after spending over five hours tackling a most difficult golf course (61st in the World apparently - magnificent but perhaps beyond my pay grade talent wise - in their Mixed Open at the end of those two weeks! Golf shouldn't really take that long. But then within minutes of arriving here at The Red Lion we were made massively welcome - firstly by Christine's two helpers, then by Christine herself and finally by the adorable Crumble (photo to follow). Great room (number 5) in the rear courtyard. Well appointed and spotlessly clean. Lovely home style meal, perfectly cooked with generous portions (too many chips for me but attacked them manfully!!). 😋 Great ambience including making friends with Crumble! Now looking forward to a hearty breakfast before a long drive back to Wiltshire. Beautifully peaceful morning sitting in the Courtyard enjoying the sun rising in the sky over rural Lincolnshire! 😊☺

My son and I travelled up for the East Kirkby Air Show and had booked The Red Lion for the Fridayand Saturday nights, what a welcoming surprise when we arrived and met Christine for the first time, nothing was too much trouble for this lovely lady Our room (4) was built onto the side of the main building, just like a mini bungalow, and was spotlessly clean and inviting, well appointed, and comfortable. The evening meal in the dining room was excellent, and thanks must go to Jane for preparing it. The breakfast was more than adequate with everything on the menu locally sourced, as was the evening meal. My son and I would definitely recommend The Red Lion at Partney to anyone visiting this area.

Stayed for 2 nights in August due to its close proximity to The Lincolnshire Heritage Centre where we were visiting. We had Room No 4, part of a separate annex to the main building. The room was very large, as was the bathroom, with a large bath and even larger walk in shower. Everything was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. Very comfortable king size bed. Outside the annex is a lovely courtyard area with tables and seating and well maintained flower borders. The main building is old but well maintained and full of character. The owner is running the place herself along with a couple of others doing the cooking and housekeeping. They do a fantastic job and nothing is too much bother. We had breakfast and dinner here on both days and the food was excellent. The hotel is situated in a tiny hamlet so there is nothing else to do here but the hotel is a good base for visiting the surrounding area and a nice, peaceful base to come back to, surrounded by fields. Highly recommend the hotel if you are visiting this area of Lincolnshire.

We stayed for 4 nights, September 2021, as a base for touring the area. The owners have made a lot of recent changes to the landscaping (possibly not reflected in the photos?) to create a lovely outdoor seating area, which we enjoyed for both dinner and breakfast. The food was excellent, tasty pub food, and the staff friendly. Our room was one of two separate units (there are more rooms in the main building) which was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is very quiet, in a small village, with fields to the rear.

Have always enjoyed eating here in the past and have always rated it very highly. This was our 6th experience of eating out during COVID 19, at various different pubs locally, and all have felt relatively normal. However eating at the Red Lion did feel rather different on this occasion. The COVID 19 security measures were so obvious it made the eating out experience less pleasant. Tables were extremely widely placed, making it feel like we were eating in an almost empty pub, despite there being quite a few other people at other tables.….somehow there was no atmosphere. The quality of food however was still excellent, the menu was a little bit more interesting than sometimes. However prices seemed to have gone up a lot….. Not sure what's happened to the reduction in VAT???

We've lived in the local area for around 2 years now and eat out often. The Red Lion, in Partney is one of our favoured eating places. We've had several different meals from both the menu and the specials board and have always been more than satisfied with both the food and the service. The young waitress who most often serves us is always helpful and cheerful and serves us with just the right amount of attention, never being too "over the top" as some waitresses can be. We find the food at The Red Lion is always of a good standard and is well presented. We will be dining there again this evening, safe in the knowledge that we'll be well fed and served beautifully and all in ambient and genteel surroundings. What's not to like?

(No). Volveríamos a hacerlo.

Fantastic range of real ales, reasonable decor, polite but perhaps a little over friendly, it's a village pub that serves pub food.We had a great evening although there was 18 of us so maybe hard to get meals right was hard in volume so a little sympathy there although the the meats served weren't the best and no one actually got the steak cooked how it was asked for etc but maybe it's hard for larger parties. I would recommend you try it for yourself although we aren't likely to go back. The landlord ( barman, Liverpudlian... Is amusing but maybe try's too hard ) on the whole we had a nice evening, but like many places it's too far for a taxi from most places, not worth sampling the fantastic beers if you have to drive and too far to walk. It's just a nice local for locals and good luck to them as these places soon close if they don't get trade. Small family or couples meal the go for it, larger parties at your own risk

I had been to this pub before, and the service had been slow, but as it was lunchtime, and the restaurant was full, I understood the pressure. However, this visit was in the evening, and I was taking friend for a meal, and only 2 other tables were occupied. When trying to book for 8.00, we were asked to make it for 7.30 p.m. I assumed that was because they were either very busy, or expecting to close early? Anyway, we arrived at 7.20, and were shown to a table. There was a sign on the door, and a blackboard in the restaurant, showing it was 'pie night'. Neither of us wanted a pie, so we ordered a soft drink, and chose starters from the menu, and we both ordered salmon with dill sauce as the main. The starters arrived within about 20 minutes, and was good quality. The main course took 40 minutes to arrive, which was disappointing, because salmon should not take much more than 4 minutes. Nevertheless, it was very tasty, and the salad was fresh. We did not want a sweet, but we asked for 2 coffees. By now, the diners at the other 2 tables had left, and it was 9 o'clock, and someone was clearing up. wiping the blackboard of pie information, wiping down the bar etc. After waiting at least 10 minutes I asked if he could chase up our coffees, and he sorted it out and brought the coffee, which was good quality. So, by the time we drank the coffee, and paid the bill, its was almost 9.30, clearly passed their 'closing' time. The food was tasty, the restaurant pleasant enough, the final bill was £36, not expensive at all, and the people looking after us were more than friendly and happy to have a chat, which did make up somewhat for the for the delays in getting the meals to the table, but that did take the shine off a bit. What a shame.

And that's just what we found, never thought such places existed still, whilst in lovely surroundings we thought we stay and have a meal, we all had different off a very well put together menuI had fish pie with seasonal vegetables, 2 had Stilton pie and veg, and 1 had a steak with all the trimmings( which I was quite jealous of..!!) we all cleared up our plates not a scrap left.We thought we would just have another drink and leave it at that, but then we were brought the dessert board, and was told to try the lemon possit with homemade shortbread, which we duely did..!! WOW!!! is the only word, didn't think you could have topped the meals we had, what an outstanding meal, no...experience from start to finish, definitely be back... Can't praise enough !!!

We called for Sunday Lunch, (31/05/'15) and from the menu chose the Sunday lunch, 1 beef & 1 Turkey. Beef was served almost alive, and was sent back to the Kitchen for a more cooked portion,(only 1 small slice), only veg with this was Blanched Cabbage,( again Raw) Roast potatoes, no mash or boiled...I did not have Gravy with my meal,(my choice) and some again, raw or blanched Carrots, 1 small Yorkshire pudding, again greasy. The Turkey meal was very dry, no stuffing, a little cauliflower, Blanched carrots & cabbage, greasy Roast potatoes, no boiled potatoes. Both meals had the Meat and Yorkshire puddings eaten, and all of the rest of the "Meal" left on the plates when collected....there was NO questions about having enjoyed the meal, or any reasons why so much food was left. Cutlery from the Ark, or car-boot, all mismatched. The FULL price including TWO Coffee's was £17.70p, and came away feeling Very Disappointed, and robbed. We will not Return to this place again, but Will let it be know to all that we talk to that this is a Venue to Avoid at ALL COSTS

Went to the red lion for first time in years, it,s been renovated to a very high standard, and the food was very very good. The beer, although pricey was top notch and they have a good range. the food was priced slightly more than most local pubs, but given the quality well worth it. we,ll certainly be going back again. Go on line and read the menu,it,s good.

This weekend we took the family to the Red Lion at Partney. What a treat! The staff were friendly and welcoming and there was a lovely real fire burning in the log burner in the restaurant. In a very heavy storm this was a real oasis of comfort and welcome. We had the standard Sunday Lunch offering but could choose the size of meal we ordered which was really helpful as one of our party was recovering from illness so did not want much to eat. However, even the small meals were extremely generous. If you go for the 'large' portion, take a doggy bag!! The meal was actually excellent. Hot plates, hot serving dishes, lashings of meat gravy (different for each meat), yorkshire puddings that put Gordon Ramsay in the shade, and delicious tender tasty meat. The staff were not intrusive but did keep an eye out and checked that everything was all right and we had all sauces we wanted. Sad to say we could not manage a pudding but as we have every intention of revisiting such a lovely pub then perhaps I can let you all know. However the man of the house did have an Irish Coffee (no he was not driving!), and this was properly done with real cream and not the squirty variety which sinks to the bottom as soon as you look at it. I know he enjoyed it from the large smile topped by a cream moustache! This pub is not open on Mondays for food and I would advise you to ring and book before going, but I would recommend that you try this one as I think you will be really pleased. We certainly were and will definitely return.

Have been to this restaurant a number of times before and always good food, bit fell way short of the mark this time.Starters to their time to arrive and not all together.............much the same for the main course although the meet was curling and dry from a long wait either in over or under heat lamps. Short on meat and short of flavour.Dessert was fine but then these were mainly pre-made.Staff friendly but obviously under pressure and seemed over whelmed by the number of people eating.Unfortunately reputations are built on many acts and lost on one......Do not think we would rush back

We stopped for lunch today on our way to Chapel St Leonards I have seen the sign before but have never venture to the restaurant. My partner and I both had pies I had the beef mushroom, guinness and stilton one, the meat melted in your mouth the pie gave off a lovely aroma of stilton and all ingredients were of ample quantities, my potato croquttes were gorgeous and the vegatables were fresh and nicely cooked. My partners chicken and ham pie was equally well presented, her chips tasted like proper potato chips, and the lad enjoyed his cheese chibatta and chips, he still had room for a chocolate sundae which I usually get a taste of but not this time. My only disappointment was I did not have the rack of ribs it could have fed four oh well that will be my next meal there.

We have just return from a weekend away in Partney and stayed at the Red Lion Inn. We had two evening meals and breakfast here.Firstly the staff are an absolute credit to this establishment. Without exception they were friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.; they were attentive without being overpowering and were always there to take a drinks order!!The food is wonderful; all locally sourced produce and cooked to perfection. We struggled to decide what to have as the choice was varied and plentiful and everything was served piping hot. It is often a challenge for pubs to deal with larger groups but everything was served together and there were no delays. If you are thinking of eating here I would say ignore the negative comments and make your own mind up - we will certainly be returning to enjoy well cooked, well presented, food that is certainly value for money.Every one of our party are looking forward to the next time we return.

I have visited The Red Lion in Partney several times and have never yet been disappointed. The food is nothing fancy, just well cooked, hearty, pub grub. I can tell you from experience that the pies, fish and chips and Sunday roasts are all fantastic. The portions are enormous, have never yet managed a desert! The landlady is always happy to help and tries her hardest to find a space even if we haven't booked. There is always a good selection of cask ales, and an unbelievable selection single malt whiskys. The Red Lion seems to have had a few poor reviews based on service and food, I really can't understand it. On my numerous visits the staff have always been polite especially the land lady. The food is always brilliant too.

It is a shame that one has to remember to ask if the steak and kidney pie is really a pie, or stew with a pathetic puff pastry hat on. Why can't places be honest that they are being lazy and a not making proper pies and put this on the menu? If you want to serve your food in this way, then you should call it by its proper name 'cobbler.' It came on a separate plates - one for the cobbler, one for the chips and another for the veg... very bizarre. The food is okay, not the best I've had, but not the worst. If you are in the area and are looking for a reasonably priced pub menu, then you will be okay here. There is plenty of parking and it is handy for the A16/ A158.

The decor and cleanliness is exceptional and the staff are very friendly and make you feel right at home. This is a little gem of a place and I really do recommend this place if you are in the area. Lincolnshire Search & Rescue were to embark upon a 300 mile walk in 3 days split between 3 guys. Red Lion Inn were kind enough to donate a room and breakfast to the cause. We thought it polite to dine in the restaurant on the evening and blown away are words i chose not to use lightly. My colleague ordered the duck, it was that big he didn't know if to eat it or feed it some bread, it literally filled the oven pan it came in. Another colleague ordered the Chicken with salad, it looked like the salad bar had been brought to the table. I ordered the fish and prawn in cheese sauce with mashed potato, it was beautiful, again, a lovely sized portion. The waitress was polite, confident and knowledgable about what she was serving, which is a rarity these days. She enticed us into a pudding ( didn't take much ) Bread and butter pudding to die for and 2 portions of waffles for the others, to which looked amazing and i was told tasted just as good. Few beers later we went to bed, awoke the next day to a banquet breakfast feast, cereal, toast, fruit, full english, tea, orange juice to name a few items available..... it went down a treat and set us in good stead for the final 30 mile tab we had back to Market Rasen. We will visit again, thank you to all the staff.

Overall it was a good night out at a reasonable price. Well worth a visit.

Having dined at the Red Lion on four occasions in the last couple of months we were sure it would be the ideal venue to treat our parents and an aunt for a New Year treat. We'd been impressed on each previous visit by the quality of food and the decor and surroundings. The only gripe would have been one surly waitress, but we could excuse that small fault given all the pluses. This time however, when we wanted it all to go right and be a real treat, it was rubbish. We were again unlucky to be served by the waitress who hasn't yet learnt to smile and puts a damper on any meal. The roast duck we had hoped to order wasn't available, as neither was the roast chicken - great start. Of the six different dishes we ordered, only one was declared a success (despite there being no peas available and only finding this out when the food was served). The other five ranged from not too bad to awful. The worst by far was the far-from-cooked vegetable lasagne. It was bereft of Bechemel sauce and the pasta was near raw, so Aunt disassembled this and ate only the spinach. The two choosers of the chicken and ham pie found the sauce to be extremely salty, and the remaining two diners had undercooked odd-tasting yellow rice served with their meals.A very disappointing meal and one which has caused the Red Lion to be cut from our list of preferred establishments.

The worse meal have had in a very long time.....horrendous in fact. The menu was straight out of the 80's with the likes of egg mayonaise for a starter and banana split for a dessert for pittys sake. The steak pie my friend had with a garlic bread crust was grey in colour, had very little flavour and had soggy bread on top which was awful. My sister and I had spare ribs which were huge unattrctive looking bones, swimming in a thick acidic sauce that had over 50 sultanas in just mine alone...I don't know what had happened to the meat as we couldn't fine any! The microwaved vegetables were.....microwaved vegetables..need I say more.Service from two of the staff was pleasant enough but the older lady with white hair was extremely snooty and abrupt...stating that we could only have a couple more minutes to look at the menu as the chef liked to have all the orders in by 8.30pm.She had a miserable face for the rest of the evening. There was only one other gentlemen in there....who actually also left most of his main meal aswell. The menu was vast which is always worrying as this means the produce isn't fresh. I can remember when The Red Lion was fabulous and was always busy, serving fresh, well cooked food. The pies and specials were to die for and it always smelt lovely when you walked in. I had heard that the place had changed hands a few times since then and that it certainly wasn't anything like the same standard...I wish we had taken the advice.I really don't understand the good reviews on here .....believe me there are much nicer eateries in the area and at nearly £25 for 2 courses with 2 drinks my hard earned cash will be better spent in the future. Perhaps the owners should take themselves to one of the other local establishments ie The Barley Mow or The Ball house to see how it should be done....just a suggestion.

IMy husband and I had our friends coming over to stay with us from Shropshire. We decided itwould be nice to go out for a meal and decided to book with the Red Lion. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE THAT WAS.....I telephoned a couple of days in advance to enquire if meals were served on Sunday evenings and at what time did they commence since we wanted to eat early in the evening. I was told that bookings were taken from 6.00pm so a reservation was duly made for 6.00pm on the Sunday. When we arrived, it was approx. 5.55pm and the premises were closed. We saw activity inside and rang the door bell. A lady came to the door and said that the pub did not open until 6.00pm. I explained that I had made a reservation for 6.00pm and as it was only 5mins, until 6.00pm could we please come in as it was dark and cold outside. The lady was adamant that we could not come in and merely closed the door and locked it!!!!! Well, I along with my husband had never been so insulted or upset at this outrageous situation.... let alone the humiliation we felt especially as we had our friends wiith us.....what an advert for coming to one of Lincolnshire's pubs! When we got back home having eaten elsewhere, I rang the proprietor to complain and quite honestly, it was adding insult to injury because she simply said we don't open until 6.00pm and as I wasn't there to here what was wrong, I was not able to show any leighway.........5mins is all we were talking about for heaven's sake....she said the lady who opened the door was not used to talking to people and she was only the cleaner!Surely, the best thing at the time of booking, was to suggest to me that as they did not openuntil 6.00pm, to make the booking for say 6.15pm and all would have been set for anenjoyable evening. I was also asked if we managed to have a nice meal elsewhere!!!!!!I ignored this remark but yes, we had a fabulous meal, great service, at the Half Moon, Alford. This just should not happen in this day and age and such poor organisation lost the Red Lionover £200!!!!! Think on.....Needless to say we shall NEVER RETURN.

Me and my partner went for a meal with our little boy who's 9 months old last month (June). We live in skegness so didn't stay in the hotel, we called before we went to ensure that it was ok to bring our little boy which was more than ok. The staff were really pleasant and kind, they provided a high chair for our son and we ordered, the choice of food was wide and included meals and starters that we didn't expect, after our meal my partner said that it was the most amazing lasagne that she had ever eaten which is as good as any good critic as she pretty much eats this meal at every restaurant we go to. The staff were more than accommodating with our little boy and I would recommend the restaurant to any one who wants top notch pub food for a respectable price. Plaice off the specials board arrived long after all the other main courses because as the waiter said "we want to make sure its cooked"!!!. We had upgraded to a superior room which was lovely, very clean, spacious & had two armchairs. The food was excellent, a huge choice and everything was served piping hot. We went specifically to this venue for breakfast. We ordered different breakfasts and made some changes to one of them with the helpful counter staff. The tea in the tea pot was cold and we took it back for a replacement hot tea pot. The breakfast was brought to us by a member of staff who did not smile or speak. Having ordered extra well done bacon we were surprised to note that it certainly hadn't been even well done. The plates were cold and so was half of the breakfast, the rest of it cooling rapidly. The toast and prepacked butter were placed on the top of the breakfast and we had to use our fingers to try and get them off the top, even though there was nowhere to put them (have they never heard of side plates)? All in all, very poor. Customer care is clearly not a priority.

Had a couple of roasts today which came with free desserts. Meal was lovely, fresh, hot, just what you expect. We was really happy with that.....but....half an hour after leaving we realised we had left a bag behind. Money, cards, car keys, medication, all stuff hard to replace when on holiday. We returned to the Windsor and the lady who was serving, cleaning etc said she saw the bag as soon as we left, so put it safe behind the counter. Panic over. We can't thank you enough xxx
