We went specifically to this venue for breakfast. We ordered different breakfasts and made some changes to one of them with the helpful counter staff. The tea in the tea pot was cold and we took it back for a replacement hot tea pot. The breakfast was brought to us by a member of staff who did not smile or speak. Having ordered extra well done bacon we were surprised to note that it certainly hadn't been even well done. The plates were cold and so was half of the breakfast, the rest of it cooling rapidly. The toast and prepacked butter were placed on the top of the breakfast and we had to use our fingers to try and get them off the top, even though there was nowhere to put them (have they never heard of side plates)? All in all, very poor. Customer care is clearly not a priority.

We have visited this coffee shop and restaurant many times, and can thoroughly recommend the food - particularly the scones (usually a good variety thereof) and sumptuous cakes. Friendly service - although can be a very slow at busy times, as often only one person on the counter. Lovely and light, airy feel - and a designated space for customers with dogs (presumably when dogs accompany the customers).

Wyvale (the current owners) sent discount vouchers including one for afternoon tea. We asked for that at at half past one, but were told "we don't serve it till 2". Fine, we looked round the garden centre and came back at 2. Chose a table, noticed the specials sign on the table advertising afternoon tea - a promising sign. Went to order, and told no again by different staff. Insisted on being served and they begrudgingly threw one together. How was it? Well, it came on a very wobbly cake stand which was in danger of dumping it all over the table. It all would have gone back had it not been for the discount and the hassle of getting served in the first place. The scone was excellent, the sandwiches satisfactory (though not the fillings or variety of the menu picture), but the cakes were nasty, over-sweetened fancies that Mr Kipling would reject on quality. Had we paid full price I would have wanted a refund. And to think I used to recommend this place. No more.

All I can say is it is a good job this place was not busy! Really poorly managed, lots of young staff busy doing nothing. Poorly planned...1:30 and they have a fresh batch of soup on the go which will be 45mins.... Only one person actually serving on till, so things grind exceedingly slow! DO NOT enter if you expect to get served in a reasonable time! Disappointing service overshadowed good food!

Visited here with my partner and his family for afternoon tea. This came with a lovely selection of cakes which all tasted amazing, the brownie especially! The sandwiches were also served with really soft fresh bread and the scones were delicious. The tea was great too. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

We found the food here both over expensive and not appetising. We visited intending to have lunch, when we saw the prices we settled for toasties which we found Un appetising the lettuce was certainly not fresh and the resturant itself didn't do the place any favours with dust weeks old on the venetian blind and a pile of rubbish outside the emergency door. The paintwork was also tired which suggested to me that nobody really cared. I complained to the man in charge, (Wyvale now own the Garden centre etc) who apologised and tried to buy me off with a free cake and a coffee. He told me things would be investigated. Nearly a week later nothing has been done so as I told him neither our family or friends would be going there again. We didn't want freebies just decent food.

We visit this coffee shop on a regular basis - 2/3 times per week - but the addition of music now being played has destroyed the opportunity of having a peaceful morning coffee while doing the crossword. The music machine is situated by the table reserved for disabled people meaning that it is unlikely that this table will ever be used. If you enjoy listening to Amy Winehouse then this is the place for you as it is her cd playing constantly on a loop. If you stay for any length of time you will have the joy of '...I'd rather be at home than in rehab...' being played twice. The age group for morning coffee is middle-age and it therefore makes you wonder if the music is for the benefit of the staff when surely it should be for the customer. In any case why is it that coffee shops destroy their character and ambience by blasting out inappropriate music for the setting. The service is a bit hit and miss as a previous customer has highlighted. There are a couple of staff that are friendly and professional and some others that really have no idea what customer relations entails. The latte and mocha are sometimes full and sometimes only half a cup, the toast and tea cakes are sometimes white, as if only flashed under a grill, and need to be returned. There have been some changes recently and the prices have gone up to pay for them. Staff can be slow at clearing and cleaning tables and sweeping the floor after some messy eaters. The Saturday casual staff are the best at doing these tasks. We have noticed that some other regular customers, some who spent a lot of money each week, have deserted and gone elsewhere because of these changes. We will be joining them. I know that feedback has been given to staff regarding the above problems yet nothing happens.

I hadn't been to Botts for a while as it had got a bit "samey" but I was told that they had made some changes, so I gave them another try. I was very impressed. For a start they have got rid of those silly wooden spoons (that always fell down) with the order number on, and put numbers on the tables. The daily "Specials" are much more "special" with a veggie soup and two veggie main meals that are a bit different. I had stuffed red peppers with roasted new potatoes - very tasty !. They also now have a lady who comes around and asks if everything is OK with your meal - nice touch, that's good Customer Service, Botts ! Would definitely recommend.

Botts Coffee Shop is a relaxing place to go with good car parking and nice refurbished interior and friendly staff. The Breakfasts are good and excellent value the only niggle is that they do not do a Veggie Breakfast which is a shame, we have asked in the past, but staff did not seem keen to do one. The Toasties are excellent and are one of the many good food choices on offer. Botts is worth a visit if in the area.

There was 2 of us, wanting the same special. I chose something different from the menu and wow wee, i wasn't disappointed at all. My meal was simply perfect and full of flavour and 1st class! The special was to die for too, i did get a small taster and it was delicious! There was a slight delay from ordering to the food coming to our table, but the chef came to us to say to bear with them which we didn't mind and REALLY appreciated the visit (Thank you)! My friend and I visited the Crowder Garden centre yesterday, 3rd Oct. To say were disappointed is the understatement of the year.. Yes the decor was appealing, but that is where it ended, we were given a very limited menu, but items listed were not available, we both ha Haddock and chips which had a flavour which was most unappealing, and left us feeling quite nauseous for the rest of the day, coupled with a great thirst.. The service was very slow and unfriendly... I would therefore advice against going there.. Maybe they should just concentrate on the garden. Centre.

We used to be regular visitors and it was always a lovely treat to have coffee and lunch up at Botts. Nowadays it has lost the special feel and is low on our list of lunch venues. To be fair, the food and drinks on offer are still pretty good but the place is now spoiled by the predominately young staff who really have no idea about customer service. They have an offhand, uncaring attitude which leaves you feeling unwelcome and, often, as if it's a nuisance to have to stop chatting amongst themselves and actually serve. I resent paying around £20 to be treated like this. I've witnessed the staff standing around chatting as every empty table is full of used crockery. We shouldn't have to clear tables ourselves in order to sit at them! The few mature staff are lovely and attentive. The young ones need serious training in customer service. I've held off from writing this review for many, many months in the hope that things will improve. They haven't. A great pity. It spoils what was once the best of the town's eateries.

To-day we visited Botts Bistro. The service was unhelpful to the point of rudeness. The time was 15.10 and the establishment was quiet but all of the three staff were very surly and we felt very unwelcome. The ramp for the disabled had an entrance door which was locked. The very elderly customers were obliged to carry their food trays either up a number of steps or down steps to reach a table and had obvious greatly difficulty but the young staff did not offer any assistance. Only one table was available near the self-service counter and understandably this was for wheelchair users only. Will I visit this establishment again? Definitely NOT.. This is not the first time we have noticed these things but we have always made allowances/excuses for them

Since my neighbour has been unwell and unable to have fat etc. we have been making, almost a daily run to Botts for Tea and toast and marmalade about 10am. The staff know our order and we are always treated with a great warmth. The Breakfast that they serve up to 11am is also something to savour. Unfortunately we are now unable to have this, but still see them taking out order upon order to other customers.Sometimes, when it is very very busy, there is a slight delay, but they explain this when you order. I would rather wait for a good meal than have a quick"fast food" meal. I say that you have to go a long way to beat the quality, efficiency and price (plus free parking). Long may it continue. Crowther's Garden Centre is first rate and well worth looking round. When you have done that a visit to their Coffee Shop and Restaurant is well worthwhile. The restaurant wasn't open until 12 midday and as it was only 1145 we opted for the coffee shop. An extensive array of light lunches was available and we both had the twice baked jacket potatoes with prawn coctail filling. The potatoes came with a generous filling and an excellent small diced well varied salad. For afters I had an oat and date flapjack while my wife enjoyed some chocolate cake. My cafe late was excellent and my wife enjoyed her pot of tea, (and the waitress kindly obliged with a second pot of hot water when asked). While not the place for a long leisurely meal in quiet surroundings, this is the place to go for an enjoyable choice of food before continuing on to Skegness or tracking down a bargain in the myriad of wonderful antique shops in Horncastle.

It was such a lovely morning today in Horncastle so I decided to take my neighbour to Botts for a cup of tea. When we arrived there was such a delicious aroma that we decided to have the early breakfast. This consists of:- egg, sausage, tomato, baked beans,2 rashers of lean back bacon, 2 slices of toast and butter, either white or brown plus tea or coffee. This is all for £4.99 each. When it arrived the plates were hot and the food cooked superbly. The staff are always friendly and helpful and willing to "go the extra mile" eg. taking your tray to your table if you are unable to do so. There is an added bonus that there is no washing up to do afterwards!!. You can also leave your car at the car wash and it will be ready for you when you want to depart., Thank you Botts staff for making it such a pleasure to come to Crowders. The ambience is pleasing with formal and informal seating(and of course my obsession clean toilets) Perhaps an indicator of success is a recent development, The Redwood Restaurant serving full meals both day and evenings.Only been twice but wuill certainly go again. It's a nice place for a tea or coffee and something to eat if you are hungry - and it is a lovely garden centre - one of my very favourites. If they could do with food what they do with the plants and layout and atmosphere - then this would get 5 stars. It's a pleasant coffee shop and light bite place but uninspiring. And a little more comfort would be welcome. It doesn't make you want to linger like the outdoor bit does. Overpriced as garden centres usually are, it's not somewhere I would avoid - but I wouldn't seek it out just for the cafe either. Come for a serene walk through plants and pretty garden ornamentalia. Then head off somewhere else for lunch.

As locals who enjoy a meal out, we have not repeated the experience despite visiting the garden centre many times since.

This is a nice little cafe with good food, pleasant staff and excellent service. My only criticism is that the portions are too small !

When driving through Lincolnshire on a regular basis I like to stop at Botts Coffee Shop inside Crowders garden centre. It has plenty of parking, nice toilets and freshly made food. The coffee is excellent, and there is a fine selection of healthy farm fruit juices. The cakes are home made. My favorite is the Lincolnshire Sausage Toasted Sandwich with Onion Marmalade, which is quite yummy. They are always helpful for those with a gluten free restriction, as they know exactly what goes into everything as they make it themselves.

Had a couple of roasts today which came with free desserts. Meal was lovely, fresh, hot, just what you expect. We was really happy with that.....but....half an hour after leaving we realised we had left a bag behind. Money, cards, car keys, medication, all stuff hard to replace when on holiday. We returned to the Windsor and the lady who was serving, cleaning etc said she saw the bag as soon as we left, so put it safe behind the counter. Panic over. We can't thank you enough xxx

Visited here yesterday as we have done many times previously and i was on my VERY SMALL electric scooter (ES). It was quite busy but not full as it is fairly small inside. Myself and my scooter took up the same amount of sitting on the chair as i was situated so i didn't need to use their chair and if on a large bike this would not have been possible. However a young girl asked if i could leave my ES outside and walk in which i could not as not able to do so. I replied we have been in there previously and had never been an issue but she said the couldn't allow it when they were busy. I would not have gone in if i was going to cause an issue or restrict any of the pathways and so i felt i had to leave, which we did. However there was 3 tables occupied by approx 12 men who were blocking pathways and not eating anything and were loudly talking to each other across the tables who were who were quite clearly obstructive but seemingly that was ok !!! I am disgusted in this day and age that such discrimination persists and i will not use them again. Perhaps they need to add a sign to the windows stating people with mobility aids would not be allowed in busy periods. Totally Disgusted. LInda Halls

Visit to the seaside wanted fish and chips, as I'm gluten free I usually struggle. Not here have gluten free on the menu, also curry sauce. We both had regular fish and chips, mine was wrapped separately from husbands as he had normal.Great portions glad we didn't go for the large.

Can't begin to say how bad this pub was, miserable landlady and landlord and the worst food I have ever not eaten. I say not eaten as we didn't get through even a quarter of the plate of awful food we were offered. My husband said the beer was okay but please don't bother with the food it REALLY ISNT WORTH IT.

Gravy & stuffing was delish chips were nice rest of the food wasnt the best but after paying for the food you are put off eating it by the smell of wet dogs which seem to be more in there than people! I dont agree with dogs being let in a place food is served but if needed maybe have a seperate place for the diners with dogs!
