Visited for the festive menu and starters were fine. Mains were more problematic.No roast potatoes,no stuffing,no cranberry sauce,pig in blanket in the singular rather than pigs in blankets in the plural,Desserts were also fine but not as pre-ordered. Whether we are cutting corners,cutting costs or just carelessness I don’t know but certainly not up to scratch. Almost forgot.the sprouts were like bullets and inedible. If the Manage r didn’t have to deal with telephone enquiries,telephone bookings,accommodation bookings,check ins and run the bar he might be able to provide some oversight on the food side.Needs support.

Sunday Lunch. 8th December 2024 Disappointing experience. Food that should have been served hot was served lukewarm, poor excuse for roast potatoes as they were soft, not crunchy. Watery mash potatoes ! Overcooked roast beef. However, the sprouts served were just right and the Yorkshire pudding was OK. It’s quite some time since I last posted a review on Tripadvisor, In that time the cost of eating out in Britain has escalated & the quality has declined.

Chose here for a lunchtime treat with friends. All four of us chose food from the cozy lunch menu and all of us were very happy! Delicious food served by friendly staff. We also noted other menu choices and offers available and we will definitely be back! The menu has both traditional offerings and something a little different too. The Red Lion is very tastefully decorated and welcoming and cosy.

Our family & friends stayed here for a local family wedding. Evening meal in the pub, 2 nights bed and breakfast and we could not fault anything. Food was great, rooms were spot on, and breakfast was cooked to order and very good indeed. All the staff were friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Clare who helped me with all my questions when booking the rooms, and for the check in process, as we were all arriving at different times. Really great service all round. Thank you all.

Have you stayed in one of the many group hotels in the UK?? They all look just the same. We were looking for a small typically English overnight and discovered the Red Lion. Just right for us. Smaller but individually styled bedrooms with well appointed bathroom. Couldn't believe the extensive menu for both dinner and breakfast. All four of us enjoyed our meals and the interesting assortment of "pints" available Sadly, we were here for my brothers funeral. However, we enjoyed our short stay. Would definitely recommend.
