Slattery's in Bury

Gorgeous little gem 💎 Popped in to purchase some Easter items and were blown away with just how lovely this place is, this was our first visit as well. Upon entry you are met with the bakery which has fresh cakes, bread and pastries galore, then further on in is the chocolate shop. You'll find something for every occasion and all budgets. The factory where the magic happens, you can actually see from the store through a large window, seeing the chocolates being made and smelling the fresh chocolate is captivating. After a wander around selecting our purchases we were greeted by a lovely female shop assistant who was very patient while we considered the vast array of tasty options take home with us. Parking wise we were lucky it was a Thursday afternoon so there were spaces available, however I think if it was full you could easily find space locally. We will be back again soon

Thank you for the beautiful cake for my Dad’s 70th birthday. The cake tasted as good as it looked! The staff were very helpful and took care to listen to everything I wanted on the cake. They advised me about what would look good on the cake (e.g. seven candles - one for each decade). The shop is lovely with lots of chocolate and also fresh food (sandwiches, quiches etc.) to take away.

A guy named Max came to this place to do their Slattery chocolate challenge.

Received an afternoon tea voucher as a gift. The restaurant gets very busy so had to book a few weeks in advance. The dining room is situated upstairs and can be accessed via either stairs or lift. Staff were very friendly on arrival and we were seated immediately. I have an allergy so mentioned this to the waitress and the afternoon tea was served without the food I cannot eat. There were lots of sandwiches, a scone and lots of lovely cakes. The champagne was really nice and we were not rushed to finish. We couldn't eat it all so were able to take our leftovers in a takeaway box. The shop was very busy after we had finished eating with lots of chocolates, cakes and easter goodies. We will be back.

Excellent service both in store and in the restaurant. Food upstairs all looked very nice and good quality, I had the ultimate sundae and my partner had the cake selection, both of which were very nice and decadent. Drinks came with a little disk of chocolate which was very tasty. Saw some people get the Chocolate Challenge whilst there, doesn't look like a big plateful but I can imagine it's very sweet and sugary!

Slattery have set a standard that is incomparable in the Whitefield area for quality food and service. A go-to venue to saviour. Treat yourself and friends to great sandwiches and cakes all baked on the premises, and take home a treat to enjoy later.

It was a very enjoyable afternoon tea, with great service and good selection, would definitely recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed 😀

First visit to this little gem, cheese and cucumber sandwich for my wife and a ploughman's lunch for my myself, food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering and was faultless. Also the staff were all helpful in the restaurant and shop. Thank you

Me and my hubby were bought a gift card for our birthday's and we finally got to use it today. The gift card was for afternoon tea, however we were informed that we could have anything to eat. Which was music to my ears. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was impeccable and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely afternoon Well done everyone 😊😊

Mediocre. Staff inattentive. Ordered champagne afternoon tea. Champagne was warm. Afternoon tea was plonked down with no explanation of the sandwiches or cakes. Struggled to get the attention of a waiter to order tea. Tea was limitless but when requested it never arrived. Won't be in a rush to return...

People think that there is not a lot of parking spaces at slatterys but there is extra parking at the medical centre. If not you can get the tram and walk up the street get off at whitefield tram stop on the bury route 😀😀😀get on a Piccadilly or altrincham tram both work if you get on after Bessie’s of the barn get a bury train if you get on before Radcliffe altrincham or picadilly😀😀😀

Came here for breakfast with my little boy for a half term treat. We had no trouble getting a parking spot but we did come at 9.30am!Staff were so nice and polite and really friendly with the children. Breakfast was delicious and would recommend the mocha!!!

I ordered a pizza style cake. the taste is really nice, not too sweet even fruits🙃. but there is too much cream inside than I thought. half of the cake is cream🤣 BTW hopefully they can improve their writing 🤭

Gorgeous afternoon tea, fresh sandwiches and unlimited tea!

Came for lunch. Service was spot on, coffees and food were quick. 2nd visit, but won't leave it as long next time!

Lovely tea shop. I took my nana here who’s in her 80’s for afternoon tea and it was ideal. Accessibility was good, I was able to park right outside and they have a lift to the tea room which is perfect. I think it was very good value for what we got, the classic afternoon tea was lovely, we got plenty of food that was all fresh and tasty, plus a selection of desserts which were delicious, we even boxed some up to take home as we were stuffed. Service was generally quite good although slow in parts but the staff were friendly so it wasn’t an issue. A great place for lunch or something different like afternoon tea!

I had a wonderful time here last week! I came to try the chocolate challenge and….. I was very humbled 🤣 the cake looks FAR bigger in real life than the photos make out! I took the leftovers in a box back to the hotel and enjoyed the rest there haha. The staff were lovely and as someone who works in customer service, I appreciate and value above and beyond service :) The downstairs area is amazing, can’t wait to visit again and try some of the tarts and macarons. My mum got the cream tea for £10 which was great value for money and she was impressed with the coffee, something she rarely says! This is the perfect place to come for a special occasion, would highly recommend 🫶

The most amazing cake and chocolate shop in Greater Manchester. The made to order sandwiches are amazing and worth the trek just for them. The cakes and desserts and lies etc etc are to die for...diets can take a hike. The Restaurant upstairs is superb but make sure you book in advance. All.in all you can't go wrong. And if it's a occasion cake you need...don't go anywhere else . (I should ask for a share in the profits after this review) The staff are always very helpful and serve with a smile. The staff from the old shop Crumpsall are the kindest and do such a great job As an update in 2024....it continues to be the best Cake shop in Manchester...and the range even more diverse. Including breads pies and sandwiches which have always been excellent. None of the so called trendy cafes will ever match this place. Keep going guys !!

Car park full could not park in the area, so cancelled booking and came home.

Customer service was horrible the woman who served us today was rude and I felt discriminated. When I asked about a certain product, she was very abrupt and spoke to us in a rude tone.

I've visited the tea room several times and I always purchase chocolate and cakes from the shop. Always recieve great service and the food is amazing.

I went in today and ordered a San Sebastian cheesecake and a slice of Chocolate Fudge, both of them were amazing and super fresh. They do need to look into expading their parking area. I resorted to parking in an area nearby.

Went yesterday for my Daughters Birthday. She wanted to try the chocolate challenge 😋 Although she was defeated, they brought her a take away box to enjoy once recovered! I had the smoked salmon bagel. It was Gorgeous 😍 with nice side salad . The serving staff are just so lovely very welcoming and friendly . Defined reccomend. Although she is 36 today she said it was a brilliant outing xx

Parking Terrible for the size of the place only 2 disabled spaces... and a few ordinary spaces can't park on the main road nightmare ... Asking for support for 2025 but without adequate parking they'll lose customers...sadly....

Gorgeous place, lovely atmosphere and staff are friendly and professional. Had the Christmas dinner sandwich which was lukewarm. Followed by a stale vanilla slice, which was obviously made the day before. Couldn’t cut through the pastry and icing cracked as I cut into it. Very disappointing, especially as I went in the shop afterwards and saw fresh vanilla slices on the display?! Surely diners should be served the freshest cakes?! Car park is a nightmare! Only a few spaces for such a busy place

I've been lucky enough to visit here over many years. I was saddened to see on my visit today that signature chocolate discs given free with drinks have been reduced in size. The cafe is constantly busy with timed tables throughout the day. The shop is also constantly busy. So surely they can't be struggling for profits.

I did not eat. I only popped in to get some Christmas presents and it was well worth the trip.

My Daughter and I didn't book and waited but well worth it. There was a gentleman and I mean GENTLEMEN on the till area who was absolutely amazing with all the children and adults. We went on the 22nd of November at around 12.45 and honestly hope he gets this positive feedback. This was a late birthday treat for myself from My Daughter after a stressful year and his kindness uplifted me. THANKYOU.

We used Slatterys for our wedding cake and they were brilliant. From taste testing, to ordering and delivery to our venue they were absolutely fantastic and made the whole process easy and stress free.

Fantastic time lovely food the staff are first class we will definitely be going again .

Been back today lovely lady jo made my granddaughter new lovely cake like she has had for many years.just a miss understanding on both are parts mine mostly due to old age and ill health.also bought the parking cake which I know is delicious.lesson learned when ordering cake try get to shop to see and tell what you want.thank you jo for your kindness and understanding.see you June August September November.

The chocolate, cakes and breads are to die for, the salad and jacket potatoes are not the best but my main concern is the older members of staff who serve in the shop are very rude. We have experienced this on a number of occasions. My 20 yr old niece won't go in on her own due to how they have spoken to her. I have witnessed it myself too and been on the receiving end of their rudeness. I feel sorry for the younger members of staff, the way they are spoken to by these older ladies is shocking. Such a let down for a business who pride themselves on quality.

Visited after 12 years the cakes and pastries are perfect and the best in the area by far can’t fault. I came in today 30 October 10.30 am for breakfast, bacon was over cooked and dry, egg yoke it was not so poached and overly cooked The muffin was try and hard did not enjoy and was a waste. The lady who came over was rude and the chocolate disk they served was just put onto a napkin and was actually left on the table the lady who was chavy looking actually pick them off the table and put them onto the plate (atleast serve the disk on a plate and not wrapped up in some napkin - with her hands very of putting it’s not the service I was expecting. In my options wasn’t happy with the service and will not be rushing to visit the restaurants. Cakes from downstairs was very good and enjoyed them very much. Please train up the staff no professionalism I did remember some of the old staff from years ago they were helpful and well manned. Was served and ordered by one lady Food was presented by a Rude lady and then another lady to take payment wasn’t happy over all.. Mr SINGH ⭐️

Visited Slatterys in Whitefield today with a voucher. The female staff who served us had miserable, ugly faces throughout the entire interaction & had terrible service. One of the old women was also terribly rude when I was paying. Would never return with female staff like that.

Wide range of food, tasty and homely meals. Salad’s are lacking, they taste dry and unappetising. Of course the chocolate is delicious and you receive two complimentary chocolates with your drinks. The prices are fantastic and I would recommend eating here for lunch. Plenty to choose from and look around the shop for treats after.

Please note you will not receive a confirmation that your cake is ready nor do they let you know! Attitude on the phone! Do not recommend.

Came just to visit the shop which was lovely. It was pricey, but it’s got that “special” feel when you walk in, you know you’re somewhere a bit grander than your average cake shop. Bought a chocolate brownie tray bake with rolls and fudge on top. Very nice.

Best breakfast ever, quality of food was beautiful and service was excellent. It's like a posh hotel dining area with great quality food.

Went with my aunt for my birthday.First we are told there is a 40 minute wait , so we decided to take things to go. Big mistake! Cheesecake that has no taste of cheese, and a nasty sugary raspberry jelly topping. Carrot cake that was dry and sugary, no real cream cheese icing despite what’s advertised. And finally m, who makes a rum ball with a pink interior and no taste of rum (how do you mess up a traditional recipe). Complete rubbish and a huge disappointment. Don’t waste your time, M &S bakery far better.

The venue has been here for a number of years and is a favourite in the area. I jave been several times and never found it all that impressive. Eating in- The service whilst polite and pleasent is very slow. The food is overpriced for what it is. Tasty but lacking. The venue it's self is clean and tidy, always feels busy. Chocolate. The Chocolate on offer is very rich and there is a nice selection. I kno2 people who rate as the best Chocolate but for me it is nothing special. Cakes. The cakes are very nice, no complaints to be had. The onside hot chocolate is very nice also if just a bit sickly by the time u finish it Overall it is nice as a once in a while treat but it's not particularly special

Just had another fantastic English cooked Breakfast here at the Restaurant, so filling they keep you going the whole day 😋 On my way out I was served in the shop downstairs when choosing some sweet treats by a lovely Assistant, MEL who was warm, friendly & with a fantastic personality to match. Her customer service was excellent & she made my visit complete. I would recommend Slatterys every time for an all round personal experience.

Service wasn’t great. Asked what we wanted to order about 2 minutes after sitting down. No one asked if we wanted refills or how the food was. The options for veggies are very limited, no options for veggie afternoon tea in the menu and the food we did get was SO bland like it hadn’t been seasoned. Although my husband enjoyed his mushroom and Brie sandwich. The sweet treats are absolutely delicious though. I really can’t believe the hot chocolate cost £6!!! Lovely shop to browse but the cakes on display really need replacing, they’re old and all cracked or damaged. The car park is also tiny but managed to find street parking not too far away.

I’ve been coming here for many years and it just never disappoints. We mainly come for breakfast, but managed to get in at lunch time on 24th Aug at lunchtime. The food was absolutely fantastic, and the steak sandwich was fabulous and I can highly recommend. My wife normally has the doorstop rarebit and she has been having this for years! We have been bringing out daughter on her birthday for 5 years now, at her request and she is always presented with a cake and a firework. I would also like to point out that all the staff in the dining room are a credit to Slatterys, giving impeccable service at all times. In particular, Mark always looks after us and makes sure we are looked after well. He is a shining example of fabulous customer service at Slatterys! Well done and see you next week!

Slatterys, what has happened to your cream fruit cake? It was fresh but the cream could do with some flavouring of sweetness. The sponge was heavy and dense. I have had this before from you and it was much better than this.

Don’t try an afternoon tea unless your starving

Its amazing here! The dining room is split into 2 and we had booked a quiet table because we are autistic and we were taken into the 2nd room which did seem quieter but its still quite noisy, nothing can be done about that, they are super popular and for good reason. All staff were polite and helpful and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the chocolate discs that arrived with our drinks! We had toasties, wedges and a warm scone. All fantastic. The salad with the toasties was a "normal" salad and not all posh or dressed which we really appreciated. Popped to the shop after and took some chocolate cake home as we didnt have room. We loved it here and managed without any trouble. There are cool windows too where you can view the staff making things. There is a disabled/baby change toilet outside of the dining area upstairs and a ladies and gents toilet. The dining room is upstairs but there is a lift. In general i think a wheelchair would manage ok but maybe needs a bit of weaving.

I have been using Slattery for my chocolate truffle making hobby for 18 years. Came today ( Aug 2024) with Paulicarus to stock up after making 400 chocolate truffles for a wedding. I knew cocoa prices were up but prices more than doubled this year. Sadly I will need to find a new hobby. The shop sells their own wonderful cakes, chocolates, jams, etc. The upstairs cafe is super for breakfast, cakes, afternoon tea etc. Booking advised. Paulicarus had eggs benedict. I had a giant bacon butty. Washed down with lots of coffee.

A really nice restaurant where we had a variety of afternoon tea, sandwiches and home made cheese and onion pie. As we were celebrating a birthday they surprised us with a sparkler, which was really nice 👍

Waiting time was over half an hour over the booked time. The service was appalling, waited a while for our food, then no one to be seen, when we needed a tea top up. Had to go and ask for a box to take our mum's cake's that she couldn't eat. Then had to go to the desk to pay our bill. This was supposed to be a treat for our mum's birthday. Sorry guy's it will be a long long time before I will pay a visit to your establishment again.

We had 3 afternoon teas which were delicious in one sense but disappointing in another. Not enough sandwiches and no one liked the tiny pastry with them (Welsh rarebit ?) Scones and cakes were tasty. Bit pricey for what we got but the staff were top marks, friendly, helpful, nothing too much trouble. Will go again but not for the afternoon tea.

Lived in Manchester all my life and Slatterys was a work haunt us girls used to brunch at.I missed it when I moved to Yorkshire. Forward A few years later I decided to take my best mate as we love all thing baking and caking, for breakfast. The same friendly gent served us after all the years it was so good to see him we managed to get in earlier then our booking and every single member of staff smiled at us and were extremely friendly kind and welcoming! The breakfast was lovely as we watched all the chocolate challenges make their way to their tables and the piano playing in the background. The place did not look dated at all and everywhere was immaculate.I miss Manchester but it was lovely to come back and know my fellow Mancunians can not be matched! The shop was as always packed to the rafters and the choice was outstanding and the member of staff ran upstairs to fetch us a cake that they had ran out of! I hope you look after your staff because they represent your brand like the owner would,they deserve a bonus because at every turn and moment I couldn’t fault their service every single one of them. I’ve been a devoted customer for personalized cakes here for quite some time, appreciating the unique designs and quality. However, I’ve recently observed a significant and steep increase in prices alongside a noticeable drop in quality. This shift has been quite disappointing, as I used to rely on this bakery for all my custom cake needs. Unfortunately, given these recent changes, I feel it's time to look for alternative options that offer better value and quality

Absolutely amazing service when ordering a special woodland hedgehog and toadstool birthday cake for my friend. I sent a photo found on Google, and was informed this was an AI photo so would be impossible to replicate. Was told they would do their best though. What they achieved was phenomenal and my friend was overcome emotionally when she saw it. We also had afternoon tea there as a treat and all staff were friendly, and had a genuine interest in people having a nice experience. Could not fault, and will definitely return 5* all round 😃

Big big dissapointment. Ordered a cake for a birthday and picked it up today. The cream was absolutely tasteless. Like they forgot to put any sugar or vanilla in it, the type you buy at a supermarket is tastier. The sponge was partly soaked and partly dry. It went straight to the bin. What a dissapointment! Have no idea why people flock to this place 🫤

I visited here with a group of people - something we do on a casual basis every few months. We are never disappointed and this occasion was the same. Excellent food, excellent service and temptation galore in the shop.

A must visit for aroma alone. There is a large shopping area on the ground floor featuring all things chocolate and cocoa related. Upstairs is a first class restaurant with a pleasant bustle of attentive staff. I had a gluten-free (technically ngci) afternoon tea, something i had given up hope of finding.

We ordered afternoon tea , which was a bit too sweet for us . I asked two different waitresses for just a glass of water, but after 10 mins nobody brought it .

Cake's were nearly £6 for 2 stale tasteless looked the part but I think they'd been in that fridge a week. Worst cake I've ever had. I'm gonna complain tomorrow

We visited on a tues lunch. It was busy so glad we booked. We both had sandwiches. Garlic mushroom and brie. Turkey club. Loaded wedges. All the food was tasty and good quality. No room for desert but we got cakes from the shop to take home. The shop is amazing and full of temptation. The restaurant was noisy, we coped but others may struggle.

Been several times, went for breakfast today for our anniversary. Food was lovely and service is great as always. Parking is a bit tight had to wait 15 mins for a space but managed in the end. Bought a lovely loaf from the shop downstairs too

I’ve been coming here for years and it just never disappoints. A great place to come for a special occasion and especially if you have a sweet tooth! The chocolate is sensational and the savoury food/brunch the cafe upstairs has to offer is amazing too! Will never not come here for a birthday celebration!

What can I say? The food is superb. We had afternoon tea and it was fantastic. Atmosphere and service excellent, then great shop to browse around later. Cakes and chocolates are wonderful.

Great experience! We came here for our 1st anniversary and had a great time. The shop is amazing for a start and you're overwhelmed by all the goodies they sell - incredible selection! Afternoon tea was brilliant and we had some lovely sweet and savoury treats in a relaxed atmosphere. We've been to Bettys in York (which is great) but preferred this place. Lovely afternoon and the staff were nice too.

We go to Slattery’s most Saturday mornings for breakfast and the service is amazing each and every time. The staff are all extremely inclusive and welcoming, and Kelly-Anne in particular is brilliant with our little boy who is autistic and sometimes struggles in restaurant environments. Nothing is too much to ask and she is so patient and understanding. Everyone knows the food (and obviously cakes!) are delicious, but it really is the staff that keep us coming back every week.

Ordered yet another cake from Slatterys. This time 1st Birthday cake, you never fail absolutely gorgeous. You can tell good products are used to bake these cakes and you taste cake not pure sugar like others

Service was 5* from Kelly Ann! I’ve struggled recently at restaurants after having to change my diet to gluten free but Kelly Ann gave me lots of different options to choose from, she even looks at all the ingredients on all the sauces to see which one would be suitable. It’s great knowing I can now come to slatterys and enjoy a range of different foods and desserts. Every time I’ve been the food has been impeccable. 100% recommend
