Was amazed by the customer service . Staff were friendly and polite. Food was good and didn’t take much time to be served. Had my favourite cocktail!

Had a big family meal here today with all the family, 25 of us. We all found the women staff really rude and unhelpful. The children get a dessert with a meal yet when asked for the bowls at the bar they charged my mum while she was buying a drink. When she questioned them they said well you should have asked for the desserts when placing your first order. I went back to the bar and the man was really helpful, refunded the money and couldn’t apologise enough. They only cleaned half the tables once we had finished then took the rest as we was leaving. Apart from the rude staff the food was really nice.

I had a highly disappointing experience at Red Lion Barnet. This place was previously well run with excellent service and quality food. Standards have dropped considerably from my last visits. The ordering app is unclear, staff could not help, and it could not be used for loyalty cards. When ordering at the till the meal deals wouldn't work making the process complicated. We asked for starter and main course to be brought separately. They were not. The carvery had only half the number of meats advertised - if I had known this when booking, I would not have ordered carvery. The food quality was poor - much of it was dry and unappetising. There was an absence of customer focus from the staff who on previous occasions have been bright and welcoming. I will not return to this restaurant that I have been on many occasions - nor as this is a Stonehouse operated venue will I consider using any of their other sites.

Wanted a late lunch at the carvery. There was no dark turkey meat to carve and the roast beef was a left over burnt scrap. Very disappointing indeed. The roast potatoes were hard and un edible. The atmosphere was very drab and dark.

i went in to give this place another chance but despite the food improving the lack of any smiles from the staff made the whole experience dull. The manager was never in front and when he was he was rude in responding to out query about the trading times. The bathrooms were dirty with the same leaking pipe still dripping away after months and months. Its a shame to see a iconic pub being run like this with not a care about it in the world.

I have eaten many carveries in my long life but this one was by far the best, succulent roast potatoes and a generous portion of my favorite meat went down a treat and the service was amazing. My waiter was an older lady named Amanda who couldn't do enough for me. Eating alone can sometimes be uncomfortable but they went out of there way to make me feel welcome. Cannot recommend enough. Thanks Amanda you made my visit special.

We loved our lunch here, and the service was excellent! It was a big contrast with another place we tried earlier, where they halted service for 10 minutes in order to "catch up" - how ridiculous! We were made to feel welcome at Stars, despite it being busy, and couldn't fault our delicious food, at a good price too 😋. They're missing a trick by not having Buxton pudding on the menu though - surely we're not the only people who like to sample local specialities when visiting a place for the first time?

It seems this is a popular cafe with locals but I probably wouldn't go back. There were a lot of (young?) staff behind the till who seemed knowledgeable, but no-one at all in the customer area. As a result tables went uncleared for a long time, tables weren't wiped down at all and the floor was unchecked. I saw a customers dog come in and eat all the droppings from the previous child before the owner could stop him. Considering the high number of staff, service was also very slow as others have mentioned, even for simple or straightforward items; we saw several customers ask who were still waiting. Our lunch was fine when we got it and the food seemed okay, and to be fair it had no shortage of people coming in. What put me off most was that the whole customer area needed a really proper clean, not just tables but wall decor, seating, floors, front window areas. I realise not everyone sees this but for me this is an important first impression as well as necessary hygiene in a food establishment.
