Me, my partner and another couple were lucky enough to attend the relaunch evening. We were completely shocked with the transformation. The placed has been decorated to a high standard and even the toilets were lovely. All four of us really enjoyed our meal and finished the evening off by sharing the “bird cage” which was delicious. Would highly recommend visiting.

Came back to the red lion after hearing about the new chef. Having tried the new bar menu and food, I can safely say it presents great value for money!

Good beer, and very well presented tasty food. Generally seems more of drinkers pub, but the food was surprisingly nice. Give it a try if you come across this on tripadvisor :)

The pub has new landlady and the pub has been refurbished (2019) Good meals and good choice. Lovely gardens and comfortable seating both indoors and out. A quiet area to eat (dining room) if required although plenty of seating near the bar and outside. Great sunday lunch available. I found everyone very friendly and liked the fact that if you didnt want to hear loud music there were quiet areas to sit. Good large carpark.

A big party stopped by on Sunday to sample the new menu & new ownership. With a big redecoration and new chef, the Red Lion has thrived under it's new owners. The food was incredible at good value (almost too cheap!). Before eating, the kids made the most of the new childrens area out back. With so much for them to do, they were out of our hair whilst we watched Ben Stokes single-handedly demolish the Aussies!

We thought we'd try out the new offerings from the new owners and I'm glad we did. The menu is small and has some really good lunch options. They told us they are going to gradually build it up, a really nice start. Lots of doorstop sandwich options and toasties too. The salad was very fresh and full of veriety including a few delicious strawberries. We both had doorstops, mine cheese and pickle and my friends, ham cheese and tomato. Bread was nice and thick and the fillings the same, proper cheddar and the ham was thick too. Can't forget the few crisps on the side. I'll be back for more and am quite excited about seeing what they add to the menu!

I have driven past this place for the last 10 years and always wondered what it was like. Today we stopped in for what promised to be a home cooked Sunday lunch. The most unwelcoming atmosphere when we entered. Locals only obviously as you can’t get past the short man syndrome blokes at the bar to get a drink. I persevered and was given my round of drinks albeit fighting for a space at the 6 person occupied bar. Advertising boards outside promoting food but not a single table inside with anyone eating anything but tobacco should have been a warning to us when we came in. We drank our drinks and left. Getting in the car and leaving some bloke in a Honda CRV was having a go at me for parking in His space. Okay no probs. You won’t have that problem again. Don’t need to say it but won’t go back.

Loved it , was working at milton heights . Went looking for a pool table after work to have a frame or two with some beer and would you believe it .stumbled across the red lion with free pool on a Tuesday. Don't often get luck like that do ya ? . Good beer , friendly staff , going to stay here next time instead of Travelodge. Rooms are half the price

one person behind the bar serving with a smile and a friendly nature - not busy but had locals in. Nothing posh - pool table - TV - piped music - does food but we only stayed for a quick drink - a basic old fashioned simple pub - long may they live.

Dropped in for a quick drink with my wife as it was a gorgeous Saturday lunch time. One member of bar staff serving having to rely on help from his son & a mate to serve food. He let another customer jump in front of us to order drinks even though we had been at the bar first & proceeded to tell me I was wrong! No decent gin, only Gordons, no Bombay Sapphire & the pint of London Pride didn't taste too good. Poor, few other choices, not as many real ales as previously. 4 or 5 dogs running riot through the pub & the garden, I'm a dog owner but that put me off, especially when there's food about. Food smelt & looked nice but the guy at the bar seemed reluctant to commit to cooking anymore so we didn't bother.

What a truly wonderful village pub.went today for a family get together. The landlord and landlady were absolutely wonderful, so nice to walk in and feel completely welcome. Took our young children and asked for off the menu food,as they are extremely fussy eaters.we were accommodated without question. Food was amazing. There were two extremely Adorable dogs.no poop in site as other post states.also had the chicken and bacon baguette, loved it.in fact there were 8 of us and we all loved our food.

A friend, her toddler son and I visited for lunch mid-week on a sunny lunchtime. Could not fit the pushchair through any of the external doors and despite there being only one other customer in the pub, no effort was made to help us - not a great start. Bar service reasonably prompt. Ordered a chicken/bacon baguette, burger and the chicken nuggets meal (the only option available for little ones). Opted to sit in the garden as it was sunny - lawn covered in numerous mounds of dog poo. To be fair, this was cleared up after we made a comment, the excuse from the landlady being that she had not had time to clear up as she "had only just got out of bed" ..... at 12:30pm, (half an hour into service !?) After a very long 45 minute wait, the food arrived. Little one did not want his battered nuggets - both adults tried them and they just tasted of cooking oil. My baguette was weird - tiny lumps of chicken and bacon lardons pan fried, and then cooked with mayo (yes really!), stuffed into an un-buttered brown baguette. Was far from pleasant - looked like cat food and was about as tasty. Friend said her burger was "ok", but I don't want to eat here again to see if she was right or being polite.
