The Merry Miller offers a delightful carvery experience, combining excellent food with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The carvery station is well-organized, with a generous selection of tender meats, fresh vegetables, and hearty sides. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring you feel right at home. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, the Merry Miller’s carvery service never disappoints.

We went to the Merry Miller to celebrate my son’s birthday. It was his choice of restaurant as we have been many times before. As I had said the booking was a birthday, we arrived to find the table had been decorated which was a lovely surprise. We had an amazing meal as the quality of food is always outstanding, the staff were so attentive and kind and there is always a friendly atmosphere. Thank you Jackie and Rob and their fab staff for making my son’s birthday so special. We will return to Merry Miller again soon!

The ham, egg and chips that my companion had looked good. Unfortunately, I chose a burger. The burger itself was large. It was grossly underseasoned and overcooked to the point where it was totally dry and difficult to cut or to bite through. The bacon, or salami (it was impossible to tell) and mozzarella were equally dry and overcooked. The chips were fine, although slightly overseasoned. The accompanying salad was fine, probably because it didn’t need to be cooked. Service was pleasant enough but painfully slow, especially considering there weren’t many other people in. The venue itself is pleasant which was why I chose there for lunch but service was slow and food underwhelming.

Very disappointed. When waiting staff collected plates I said the food was cold. She did apologise. I did say the flavours were good. The bill came I said I expected some adjustment for the cold food. She offered to take off the 10% service charge. I did not agree to this as it is not the staffs fault. Potatoes were hard . I did not overload my plate as we could go up for more. I went to do this and the carvery had been cleared away. Will not visit again. This is the first time I have ever complained on trip advisor. It mist have been bad £4.50 for a soft drink.....

Came for a small gathering for a friend's birthday. Had the Sunday carvery. Food all good. As other reviewers have said, some of it could do with being a little warmer but it is important to remember this is a carvery sat under hot lamps and not served directly to your table from the kitchen so it will be cooler. We found it to be a really enjoyable afternoon. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, readjusting tables and seating as our table wasn't quite ready, checking to make sure all was OK with our meals. Even the chef came over at the end of service to see if we enjoyed it. Pleasant experience. Car park a good size and on the flat. Toilets clean. Couldn't ask for any more.

Stopped here on the off-chance they had space. And they did. We had the Sunday Cavery which was nice. Couple of small issues. Stuffing had been sat under the hot lights a bit long and was chewey and the roast potatoes were a little salty for my liking. The Meat was nice and tender and a great selection of veg and sauces. Service was excellent and we were served quickly without being rushed.

First time in this pub for evening meal. Only came across this lovely pub by accident. We went for a walk in Cothill Reserve Quarry / Dry Sandford pit and got very lost ending up in this pub and ask fo help for direction back to where our car was parked. The manager, Rob Waldram was so kind to give us a lift to where our car was despite he was very busy, as the pub was packed full of diners. It was quite a way and he refused to accept the money when we tried to pay him for the petrol and his time. This was approximately 2 months ago. My friend and I couldn't thanked him enough and really appreciate his kind gesture. Today 04 Jul 24, we avail ourselves to go for dinner in his pub. We fell in love with the warm and welcoming atmosphere. A great ambience. We went for the carvery and the food was very good traditional English food. The roast potatoes were particularly good fluffy inside and crispness outside as we bite into it. The roast beef was beautifully cooked and the roast pork was cooked just right and tasted good with apple sauce. There were lots of selection of vegetables to choose. We were very impressed. For pudding, we had apple and rhubarb crumble with spiced rum, served with ice cream. It was delicious and very big portion too. We went away fully satisfied and feeling very happy that we have made a good choice for a lovely evening meal in such a lovely friendly place. We will definitely go there again and will recommend this place without a doubt. Price are reasonable too for what we get and staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly. Apart from the carvery, there are other choices of food on the menu as well. What a great evening!!!

What’s the saying if you can’t say anything nice - don’t say anything at all! Chef was rude to my son in front of other family members and customers, even they made comments about his remarks. It is not acceptable. I did speak to the owner who was a very nice lady who apologised for her husbands remarks. Food was mediocre and unfortunately after the experience we had - I would never set foot in the place again.

We held the wake for my Mum at the Merry Miller. It was fabulous. Jackie had been very flexible over mixing and matching menu choices and numbers. We weren't quite sure how many to expect so booked for 70. We were allocated the entire pub for that number and, in the end, there were nearer 90. That was no problem for Jackie and her team (well, it seemed no problem to us - no doubt the team was working frantically behind the scene!) and the food kept coming! It was plentiful and delicious and so many people commented on what a great atmosphere there was in the pub. Thank you very much, I would highly recommend it for a Wake.

have been coming here for years but the carvery has really gone downhill. all of the veg, roast potatoes and parsnips are consistently undercooked to the point where you can’t eat them. and the nut roast is very strange, 80% rice and 20% mushrooms. overall very underwhelming and not a place to go if you are vegetarian! this will be my last time coming to this establishment, i hope they see this and start to cook their vegetables better

We came for a Sunday carvery. Food was great and mostly good service, however we arrived on time to our booking and were asked by the server ‘Olly’ to wait at the bar as the table wasn’t ready. We waited nearly 20 minutes when we had to ask how long the table was. The same server said sorry and must have forgotten us, then we were seated straight away. We were asked if we were having carvery where we said yes. We assumed that we needed to wait to be told to get the food (we weren’t told) and 20 minutes later we had to ask another server who said sorry and that we could go up for food. After this point the service was great from the female servers who were attentive and asked how the food was. Disappointed in how long we had to wait and were forgotten twice, but the rest of the experience was great

Arrived at the merry miller for a Christmas lunch with my girlfriends family (a party of 20 people), as soon as I stepped in the door way I was greeted with an incredibly friendly atmosphere, I had a great chat with Jackie (the lovely lady behind the bar) while we waited for our table. We then got seated as the rest of the group of 20 arrived (they were greeted with the same warm and friendly smile that I was greeted with from Jackie), we were sat quickly by the staff (very attentive, smiley and happy), we got our order put through which arrived quickly, it was timed perfectly so that all the people who were having carvery (the carvery was run by Rob who cracked a few good jokes) went up and sat with their food just as we got our food, I myself ordered the char siu pork which was delicious and flavourful, the sauce was incredible and the prawn crackers were a great touch, my girlfriend went for the meatballs, however she changed her mind to the rodeo burger after we had ordered, luckily Jackie was nice enough to change our order, the burger was just incredible, it looked immense and I had a taste of it, trust me on this, it tasted as good as it looked, mouthwatering. After our mains we ordered some deserts which I went for the brownie. Outstanding! The chocolate was rich and creamy which pared beautifully with the vanilla ice cream, I additionally got a chance to try the treacle tart, it was just perfect, unlike other treacle tarts it wasn’t too sweet, just the correct level of sweetness which was beautifully complimented by the custard, they allowed us to stay on the table for an extra 30 mins which we were very thankful for. Overall the meal and the service was incredible, I can’t recommend the merry miller enough, definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a beautiful meal or even if you’re in the area. 11/10 would visit again.

The food however was tastey but very cold the gravy wasn’t even hot. The rest of our food got delivered with side orders missing which just never arrived then after we finished there was a young chap come over to clear our plates and he reluctantly offered desserts basically said they was closing soon so didn’t really want us to have dessert. Amazing carvery but terrible service. The good: big portions and all the trimmings with every choice you can imagine. There is private parking and the building is quite nice. The bad: When the place is half empty, we wouldn't expect to be seated in a corner at the back of the room where the sun hits our faces while eating. Drinks were very slow and we needed to remind our server about them, so who knows what his notepad was for. We were handed menus but not told to stand up for the carvery buffet until another server (maybe the manager/owner) saw us. Getting the bill took ages since we were not looked after and after 10 mins I just stood up and paid at the bar because the server did not come back. Of course, they added a service charge which was a joke. I did not expect that and did not realise until later.

Got to the pub, parked - it’s a big car park well laid out, but we’re ushered to a faraway corner where all the window blinds were down making it gloomy. Had to raise them. Food and drinks service ok, and relatively quick. The menu is pretty varied but not great for vegetarians. As we met friends we spent a lot of time talking but come 1515 we’re invited to leave by the landlord so he could close and go out. Didn’t feel like they appreciated us being there at all. This on a Saturday which is a day it’s reasonable to expect them to be open in the afternoon.

Good service and a nice environment but in this particular case our party was unable to have their menu choices as they were unavailable which was disappointing. The food that we did have was nice. As it was the day before Father's Day one would have expected the chefs ordering to have been more accurate.

Update June 2023: It's been about 6 years since I've been but I went again with 3 friends for lunch this afternoon and it was just as I remembered. Wonderful food, lovely old fashioned interior (with lovely toilets too!) And the service was excellent. Highly recommended!

I refuse to use this place as the owners obviously have no pride in the look of the place. Rubbish piled up near the entrance. I took the photo on a good day, usually it’s much worse than this. How do the customers not consider this an eyesore, unbelievable.
